A good evening out with a friend. We sat in the bar for an Aperitvo of Prosecco & Aperol Spritz before sitting in the restaurant for Dinner. Good food - calamari, meats & cheeses & Arincini followed by lobster ravioli & 2 portions of Chicken Milanese all of which were very tasty. A chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream & 2 Coffees with a bottle of Rose was enjoyed by us all. Great atmosphere & very helpful & friendly staff.
Came here for dinner and was not disappointed! we arrived alot earlier than our booked slot and the staff managed to sort us out on the spot with a choice of tables inside and out (this was with the restaurant heaving on a Saturday night) Absolutely amazing Italian food with alot of variety. Super friendly and accommodating staff and a great location in the village. I would highly recommend this restaurant if in the area.
Visited Coast for lunch today and was greeted by a very friendly member of staff who showed us to our lovely table in the conservatory part of the restaurant. Drinks were served very quickly which was good. Water was served as an addition without asking. We shared a pate starter followed by Risotto and a Pizza. The staff were very attentative and could not do enough.
Always lovely. I had my birthday here a year ago, and it was great- we ate in the private dining rooms upstairs. The food was fresh, the staff were attentive and we could even pick our own music!
First time dining here. Just had a really good lunch with friends. Everyone’s food was very tasty and well presented. The lunchtime set menu was great value. The service was excellent and the staff very professional. Great place to eat with a good atmosphere.
First time here today, 2 of us. Warm welcome at lunch time, warm heated place. Service great, food great and warm plates (basics good). Was recommended by Scott Hardy Cars, great choice Matt thank you for the tip off. Lovely lunch
We booked Coast for our twins 18th birthday celebration and had a sit down 3 course dinner for 60 guests. The food, service and ambience were superb! I would highly recommend Coast for a celebration or an informal dinner or lunch. Blair and his team are fantastic and deserve more than 5 stars! Keep up the great work and thank you once again.
Excellent restaurant with great food and friendly staff in a lovely village
Great valentines meal, always good service
Fantastic food, very friendly staff, beautiful decor
Really enjoyed my visit to The Coast. The food was spot on and the staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Definitely a place I’d go back to.
Excellent food & atmosphere would 10/10 recommend and the deserts were amazing - thanks to the manager for looking after us
Like anything in life, you get what you pay for. We really enjoyed dinner last night, staff welcoming and a super atmosphere. We had mussels to share, followed by a lovely steak dinner. All excellent 👌. Thank you Gilda & team. We'll be back very soon 🙏
We recently hosted my wife’s birthday party at The Coast, and it was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. The ambiance was warm and elegant—just the right balance of intimate and lively for a special occasion. The food was exceptional. Every dish was beautifully presented. The service was impeccable; the staff was attentive. A special thank you to Simon and Joanna for going above and beyond to make the evening unforgettable. If you’re looking for the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, I highly recommend The Coast. We’ll definitely be back!
Sunday lunch menu is great value and it’s a lovely place for a family meal. The service was excellent.
Incredible, had a shares platter with meats which was brilliant, cars going past when outside doesn't ruin the vibe.
Rather than cancelling a booking last night we chose to have the meal as a take away. What a great decision. The food was excellent and the staff advised which dishes would work best. Of course eating in would have been even more special but this way we still had great food and a great time and could support The Coast. Thank you all.
I have been to Coast many times and it never disappoints, for me it is the go to restaurant. To provide one decent meal is not difficult, to provide consistently good meals over many years is difficult. Coast always provides good food, a friendly environment and good service, hence it gets 5 stars from me.
Decent food and reasonable prices. Went in on a Saturday afternoon. Staff are very welcoming, good atmosphere and nice choice of food. we were recommended to go here by Scott Hardy automotive Macclesfield and it didn’t disappoint
Brilliant setting, fantastic selection of foods and the prawns are to die for! The waiters always had a smile on their face and the background music was great.. I was having a groove whilst eating my food. We can’t wait to go back.
Superb, we celebrated a friends birthday and the staff couldn't have been any more helpful, friendly fun and knowledgeable of their food and drinks, the filet steak is amazing, definitely coming back, thankyou Simon and team 😀
We all had a really enjoyable Saturday lunchtime meal at 'The Coast' - our food was delicious and arrived promptly. The staff were really helpful and cheerful and we will definitely book again when we are next in the area.
I was amazed by the fast service and great quality in this restaurant. I was served by Liv and she made me and the table feel very welcomed because she was so kind. Liv even arranged a birthday cake for us!! Thank you !
I liked the variety of main dishes and unlike some reviewers thought that there was a decent choice of reasonably priced mains without forcing you into an expensive choice. I opted for a linguini marinara which didn’t scrimp on the seafood. Very tasty. Looking forward to my next visit
Excellent lunch for a special birthday. Initial confusion over the booking but quickly resolved. Service and food was very very good. Lady maitre d was totally professional and very personable. I will be back very soon.
Very attentive staff, great atmosphere. Wouldn't rate the "lobster ravioli", far from fresh and tasted more like unidentifiable mush rather than lobster, that said the tomato sauce and pasta was exceptional, and my friend was very pleased with his lasagne. Ended up being quite expensive after tax and service charge added on, but for a nice restaurant like this I suppose that's standard.
Overall, it's pleasant depending on the company you're in. Was there for a Christmas lunch, probably the food was more special. We were well looked after, glasses were always being filled. The food, mine was lovely, Christmas main - porchetta. Some had the starter Patè Di Fegato Di Pollo, which I thought wasn't appetising and attractive. The dessert, I had Tiramisu was the best. It's the Chocolate Orange Bread & Butter Pudding which did not go well for those who had it. Just beware, limited Parking spaces if you're parking at the Restaurant's own site. Just next to the restaurant, there's an alley, narrow. There is a Village carpark, you've got to pay.
Lovely food and service. Marcie was fantastic however the service was slow (due to the kitchen) and our steak wasn't cooked to specifications. Having said that it was resolved quickly. Service was great, food bar the issues above was nice. I would go back and hope it was a one off.
The main meals were good but when we asked for the tiramisu we were told that there wasn't any. Surprising for an Italian restaurant so early in the evening (We were in the restaurant for 6pm). The one waitress didn't seem to bothered to check if any of the tables needed service and looked everywhere but. In the end we skipped dessert and then waited ages to pay the bill.
Attentive friendly service on a busy Friday evening at this bar/restaurant. Sadly no non-alcoholic drinks menu despite a separate, good-looking cocktail menu. Calamari, bruschetta (£9,50!), veggie risotto & lamb shank (£27) were all good, but not truly authentic Italian and not outstanding relative to the high prices charged.
Very disappointed with the Italian food on Sunday. First course of prawns far too spicy for my guests. The second/main course very disappointing. Ravioli tomato sauce week, pizza hardly edible with 50% left. The worst meal at Coast in 8 years.
Not the best experience, booked for valentines, we weren’t told before hand that it was a set menu which was disappointing to see when we arrived. This made the evening more expensive. The fish was overcooked. We also paid £20 deposit before hand and were advised it would taken off the bill…when the bill was brought out they “forgot” to take this off the bill. I had to request this.
A pleasant place — with comfortable outdoor seating
Went for a family birthday, the food was great if not a little over priced. However, when we arrived they said they stocked a certain beer, yet after a round of drinks they ran out. Not a problem, but they then sent out a staff member to acquire more from a local shop, again not a major problem, but to then find out they were charging more than the purchase price I think is wrong. I won't be going there again.
Mixed experience with my wife. Unfortunately there was no drinks menu for anything non alcoholic for my wife who is pregnant. Lots of normal cocktails but no mock tails which would have been nice. The atmosphere is great and the menu has a lot of choice, but I think there are better Italians out there such as Sasso in Disley or Leonis in Heaton Moor. Our food order was forgotten about so we were sat for almost 30mins with no starter, and no one came over to even ask if we wanted another drink with both glasses empty. The mistake was recognised and resolved quickly which was good, but it put a bit of a downer on the experience. Nice to try but probably won’t go again soon.
Service was good. Shrimp appetizer was better than good. Fried zucchini appetizer was good. Lobster ravioli needs work; shrimp overcooked (how could we blow it after such a better than good appetizer?) & ravioli undercooked. First time I had baked Alaska was on a Princess cruise; outstanding. I hoped to have some the same experience unfortunately the merengue was too sweet, more cake than ice cream and it was disappointing.
There was a large menu to select from and the food was fair to good. The wait staff was overwhelmed during my visit. The thing I remember most was how very loud their background music was being piped into the room, as I cover barely converse with the person across the table. (But the speaker was directly above my head)
Menu was subpar for the price. Many wines were out of stock when we asked. Not value for money and the tiramisu was awful! Tasted like Marzipan!
Incredibly noisy, poor service. Only 3 of 4 mains delivered. Had to wave furiously for attention and wait 5 mins for the missing meal. Pollo Milanese served on what looked like tinned spaghetti, like you would give kids on toast. Could say more, but safe to say we won't be going back .
Not covid safe and bad service. We'd reserved an outside table but people were sat there so the manager offered us table inside despite it being against the law. He moved group of six from outside to inside just so we could sit which made us feel awkward. Despite most waiting-on staff wearing masks a senior member (or owner?) was swanning about serving food without a mask and getting real close to the customers and food. Pizzas over-priced considering they're not amazing. Overall it wasn't a good experience.
Read the reviews and thought we'd give this place a try. Looks are most certainly deceiving! Initially it looks good but, on closer inspection, becoming tired. Chips out of the melamine on several tables where we were sat and the boards under the bench seating were very grubby, really in need of a coat of paint. Also, it always seems to me that a restaurant is at least trying too hard, but probably realistically, desperately trying to remain relevant by endless loops of mundane, blasé bar tunes. It certainly didn't add to the experience, just annoyed. On the subject of where we were sat, we walked into a restaurant that was at best one third capacity, leaving lots of spare tables , were we sat at an empty area? Of course not, we were shoehorned in-between two other couples. In the current climate I'd say it was very optimistic to describe the distance between customers as 1 metre. Such was the lack of distance between tables I have a very in-depth knowledge of the business dealings of the young man and his client sat to my right. However, this wasn't what I went into a restaurant for. Oh yes, the food. My burger was distinctly average, my partner's Chicken Alfredo (Penne Pollo Alfredo) was far far too rich, I know it's a cream, garlic and wine sauce but far far too much garlic, cream and very little evidence of wine. My partner was unable to eat it. This restaurant was trying to be modern and trendy.... It wasn't, and the fact that they had city centre bar tunes playing did not justify the price paid for the very average to poor food. Good insta fodder if you're into that kind of thing but I go into a restaurant for nice food in a relaxing environment, sadly The Coast at Prestbury failed us on both counts.
Been here several times, however the meal I had this evening had to be changed three times. Initially I ordered a spaghetti carbonara, which turned up and was actually linguini and was not cooked, rock hard, second attempt I ordered a spaghetti carbonara, yet again spaghetti was not cooked,( very crunchy!!), following this I ordered a margarita pizza, which was lovely. Staff were lovely as normal, and had no problem taking back meals. As a point of feedback for this lovely restaurant I would like to offer some advice. I think it would be usefull, as people have varying tastes that it would be nice to offer/ ask how customers would like to have their pasta cooked, ie el dente, well done etc, so that the customer does not reject/ send back meal because it's not to their liking. Overall staff are brilliant, venue is brilliant. Only a suggestion Regards, David Bloor
We went to the Coast this evening for a Sunday roast. You can no longer have just the Sunday roast, you have to have the 2 course menu which is now £26.95. The starter was basically 5 small prawns in a tomato and chilli sauce ( Nduja) with a single toast finger. We then waited for over an hour for our main course, which at best was average to say the least. We will not be going back.
Dined here for dinner with family a few weeks ago. We ordered a bottle of wine and before the waitress arrived with the bottle I noticed a live spider sat in my wine glass moving around, trying to escape. This wasn’t ideal and so when the waitress arrived with the wine she had to go switch out my glass for another one. There wasn’t any apology, she just said “oh right ok” and swapped the glass. Not the best start to our evening, knowing insects are climbing freely around the glassware. The second issue we faced was when the main course arrived. Whilst waiting for the rest of the food to arrive on the table a live caterpillar starting crawling out from my side salad and across my plate of food. I had ordered the fillet steak and everything is all on the one plate. Again not ideal, the second insect in the space of an hour. When the waiter returned with the rest of the food we gave him the plate with the caterpillar on and he returned to the kitchen. He did say “sorry about that” and took the plate away but not really the best apology you could have given in that scenario. We even made the comment, that we weren’t having the best luck tonight, first a spider and now a caterpillar. So a few minutes later my food was returned to me, I don’t know what they changed, whether anything at all, it wasn’t explained whether I had a fresh plate or fresh salad I was just told “careful the plate is hot”. Clearly the food wasn’t made again because it was only a few minutes which had passed. Come the end of the meal we were presented with the bill. There were no allowances made for the two incidents above and the tip was already included in the bill. I am disappointed that as a business you didn’t think that my experience was below par and therefore thought it acceptable to charge me full price for my fillet steak, and also include the tip. The hygiene of your restaurant has seriously been called into question by these incidents and your staff’s attitude towards them so I am surprised. My elderly mother paid cash, not realising the tip was already included as we had planned to not leave a tip, which I am sure you can understand. We waited over 10minutes for her change but that didn’t appear. We had to ask for it, and that was then returned to us, minus the tip. I do believe your intention was to keep the change which would have been a tip of £15, already included and paid in error, and then a further £15 which was the change we had to ask for. All in all a disappointing experience with you. Rather than going straight to leaving a negative review I did actually email the restaurant all of the above, as I thought this was a more productive way to give feedback but to date I have received no response from The Coast.
Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with our experience. The food itself wasn’t fresh and the Christmas set menu was underwhelming- the bruschetta bread was very hard and an unreasonable amount of pepper was added to my dish, making it difficult to enjoy. An accident occurred where a waitress spilled Prosecco over my boyfriend, leaving shards of glass on his lap. We fully understood this was accidental, but the response afterwards lacked care and there was very little apology and the compensation was just one glass of Prosecco. A 10% service charge was also added to our bill, which we had to ask to be removed given the circumstances. The manager did apologise and said the service charge had been “overlooked”, but then offered the same 20% January discount that was already being given to everyone due to upcoming kitchen refurbishments, which felt disappointing. Overall, not the level of service or food we were expecting, especially over Christmas.
Not a good experience, first off sold out of some meals but not told until coming to order a sold out meal twice at just 5pm, first experience today will not be returning lasagna not good probably the worst I have had. Lady at taking the plates did ask how the meals were I did make her aware what I thought of the lasagna to be asked what’s wrong with it and then when I told her she didn’t respond at all. Such a shame because the restaurant is lovely inside and out but the food was awful such a shame and a let down.
Maybe I'm expecting different because I'm not from the uk but this place was extremely overpriced and underwhelming. Food took FOREVER and arrived all at once, I would have thought generally appetizers, salads etc, come first, but I guess our appetizer wasn't really anything anyway, 2 bites. Entrees were meh as well. Not one to send things back so didn't but not pleased, full of regrets.
