We had such an incredible meal at Che Fico. Every single thing we ordered was outstanding! Truly one of those dinners where you keep looking at each other after every bite. Beyond the food, the atmosphere completely makes the experience. The open kitchen brings so much energy to the room. Every table was full, music was playing, the space felt alive and somehow it still felt intimate enough to easily talk and actually hear my partner. That balance is rare and they nail it. We sat at the chef’s counter and I absolutely loved watching the kitchen in motion. Seeing the team move and then tasting the dishes as they came out made it even more special. The focaccia was phenomenal. The pasta with their bolognese was rich. The pizza was my personal favorite perfectly balanced and beautifully executed. And the crostata? Eyes-rolling-to-the-back-of-my-head good. Absolutely incredible. No notes.
We had a margherita pizza, the nettle pasta and the broccolini starter. The food was really good. The pizza and the pasta were excellent. Great vegetarian options. We chose the two mocktails for drinks. The morso di vipera was awesome. The other one not so good. Loved the vibe of the place. Very high energy.
I started with the Suppli (Arancini) — comforting, well-executed, and satisfying, though not the standout of the night (7/10). The highlight on the savory side was the Polpo e Pancetta di Maiale. The crisp pork belly paired beautifully with tender octopus, marble potatoes, and four sisters watercress (8/10). What really stuck with me, though, was the vinaigrette on the watercress — bright, sharp, and perfectly balanced. It quietly stole the show and tied the whole dish together. Dessert sealed it. The tiramisu was exceptional — light, rich, perfectly soaked, and easily the best tiramisu I’ve ever had (10/10). Worth coming for on its own. Che Fico feels just as welcoming for solo diners as it does for groups. Thoughtful food, big flavors, and a dessert that alone justifies the visit.
Made reservations for dinner on a weekday and the place was booked! The food were spot on, except the pizza. We ordered the suppli, salumi, orechiette, and gelato & tiramisu for dessert. Pasta was al dente and delicious. Music was a bit loud, made it a bit challenging to have a conversation. Friendly staff.
This is an outstanding restaurant. In all ways The food is amazing. The atmosphere is warm and comforting yet vibrant, and the service is exceptional. I can’t believe it isn’t more highly rated. Is it pricey? Yes. But you get what you pay for. The quality of the ingredients is evident in each dish. I would 100% come back here. Everything was outstanding!
We tried the tortelli di zucca pasta and it was absolutely delicious. The Margherita pizza was also really good—simple, fresh, and flavorful. They make their pizza dough and pasta fresh every day, and you can really taste the difference. As an IPA lover, I ordered the Barebottle West Coast IPA, but it wasn’t really my taste. That said, it’s an Italian restaurant, so I’m not taking any points off for the beer selection. For dessert, I had the chocolate budino, which was just okay—nothing special. Overall, a solid dining experience with excellent fresh-made pasta and pizza.
Had an amazing dinner here too celebrate our anniversary/birthdays and was not disappointed. Everything from the salad to the pastas and cocktails were incredible. They had one of the best lasagna dishes I've ever had. I'm definitely still thinking about this lasagna weeks later! The atmosphere and service was also impeccable.
Dined here for the second time with friends last night and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was buzzing on a Monday night! We decided to order two starters, three pastas, and two desserts to split amongst 4 people. Standouts: Lasagna Verde (literally wish we had more of it), Chicoria Cesare, Orechiette, and Torta di Formaggio (that cheesecake with passion fruit curd).
Brunch perfection. We came to Che Fico for Sunday brunch and it was incredible — easily one of the best meals I’ve had in San Francisco. The whole experience felt welcoming and familiar, like being part of something special. We started with the focaccia — warm, soft, and subtly sweet with apple, caramel glaze, mascarpone, and wildflower honey. The perfect opener: comforting, fragrant, and beautifully balanced. Drinks were a highlight too — the Tramanto (Pathfinder, candied orange, thyme, citrus) was bright and refreshing, and the Luigi Giordano Brut Nature Rosé added just the right sparkle. For mains, we had the Prosciutto Cotto e Uova (poached egg, prosciutto, heirloom tomato, hollandaise) and Uova in Purgatorio (arrabiata, torpedo onion, sunshine yolk, ciabatta). Both were layered, flavorful, and plated with care. We finished with the maritozzo — a brioche filled with ricotta, pomegranate, candied citrus, and orange blossom. Light, creamy, and the perfect finale. Every dish felt intentional and made with love. Excellent service, gorgeous space, and food worth remembering. Can’t wait to go back.
We visited at 1pm and didn’t realize it was still the brunch menu for that time, but we were still happy with our meal. We initially had a hard time understanding the menu, but our waitress was very nice and did a great job at explaining the dishes to us. For drinks, I ordered the acqua fresca which was a rhubarb drink that was so good. My husband ordered the limonatta, and that was good too but not as good as the acqua fresca. As a starter, we got the focaccia bread, and—my goodness, this bread in combination with the marscapone and honey was amazing. That alone was worth our 15 minutes circling blocks for parking. If you are here for the brunch menu, you must order this. If anyone from the restaurant reads this review, please share with me where I can purchase that amazing honey. That was the best honey I have ever tasted, wow. For our mains, my husband ordered the panino per la colazione which is a breakfast sandwich. It was okay, I liked the jam on it. I ordered the prosciuotto cotto pizza and it was decent. The crust was amazing. We would love to come here again and try a pasta dish, along with a pizza with different toppings. But, they have a savory version of the focaccia bread for dinner, so that would be interesting to try, but seems like it would be hard surpass how amazing the brunch blueberry focaccia is. We loved the focaccia so much, we did two orders to go so that our family could taste it.
I always have a incredible experience when I visit Che Fico! I've been for dinner and brunch, celebrated birthdays and stopped at the bar for qucik apps. The service is always next level. I appreciate that the servers really seem to be into what they're telling you about when it comes to food and drinks. Their recommendations never steer me wrong. The food is local, and I can't wait to go back!
A designer’s gem, where the interior stands as equal to the expert delivery on California-style Italian cuisine. An industrial space, softened with colorful wallpapers, potted plants, dried bouquets, and modern chandeliers. An excellent date spot, or a fashionable family outing — look for the massive communal table! Squash Blossom Pizza, delish — doing well to celebrate local seasonal California bounty. Roast Carrots, an amazing elevation of something normally so pedestrian.
This chic and modern California influenced Italian restaurant offers something for every palate. Whether you’re looking for a rich and savory meal or light and refreshing bites, Che Fico will make sure everyone is taken care of. We started our meal off with the Supplì, a fried tomato risotto, and the fresh, hand-pulled mozzarella that was plated on a pool of Sicilian olive oil. The acidity of the Supplì was gently complemented by the creamy mozzarella. The servers will warn you, and I can attest, that the Supplì is extremely hot when it comes out. We found that the optimal way to cool the center was by letting our phones eat first and carefully executing a cheese pull. Our next course was the Lasagna Verde– an incredible 10-layer homemade spinach pasta alternating with an almost decadent lamb ragu. The corner and edges of the pasta were light and crispy and resembled artichoke leaves when it was first served to us. This dish definitely left us wanting more and we made sure not to waste any of the bechamel that the lasagna was resting on. Choosing the next two dishes was a bit tough and we wanted more variety to really see if Che Fico could continue to hit the nail on the head. The Animelle Di Vitello, a veal sweetbread served with butter beans and shishito peppers, was the pick-me-up we didn’t know our meal needed. The tender butter beans, and melt in your mouth shisito peppers with the saucy, yet still crispy, veal sweetbread was my favorite bite of the night. This dish somehow unified so many of my favorite ingredients into one and it was executed so well. One dish that wasn’t on the menu, our last savory dish of the night– roasted eggplant topped with fried shallots, fresh basil, and lightly pickled peppers. We dug in with the spoon we were given to see just how soft the eggplant would be, but were surprised when the spoon came to a halt at the uncooked center. Our server, Elizabeth, was so kind and urged us to allow them to refire the dish as they had just added it to the menu that morning and wanted to ensure that we were able to enjoy the dish at its full potential. The refire of the roasted eggplant was lovely and was actually a great way to end a heavy meal. Each spoonful of eggplant was packed with umami that was a perfect contrast to the tartness that the pickled peppers brought. We somehow saved room for dessert and had to have Elizabeth choose for us. We were pleased to see a classic tiramisu with a healthy serving of mascarpone on top. After taking my first bite, I quickly learned that tiramisu had more texture than I thought. I don’t think I will be able to enjoy any old tiramisu as much after this one. Each layer was prominent yet balanced and we weren’t overwhelmed with sugar. The ladyfingers still had structure while still bringing a punch of coffee that was immediately toned down by the mascarpone. Che Fico, I can’t wait to visit again. My first experience was actually a few years back when their downstairs bar was open for small plates and drinks and I had been waiting for the right moment to come back. (Hint: anytime is the right moment to come back)
We held our wedding reception at Che Fico, and it was absolutely perfect. From start to finish, everything was so easy to plan—the team made the whole process smooth and stress-free. The food and drinks were incredible—our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious everything was. The service was equally impressive: professional, attentive, and friendly. One of the things that made this venue so special is how beautiful the space is on its own. We didn’t need to add much in terms of decor—it already had such a warm, elegant atmosphere that it felt ready for a celebration as-is. (Photos by Kacie Jean Photography)
This place has a great atmosphere and some standout dishes, but the service timing needs work. The Tortelli di Zucca with honeynut squash was easily the best thing we ate. The Focaccia was also tasty and both our non-alcoholic drinks Tramanto and Pomona were very refreshing and well-crafted. We also tried the Ananas Pizza; it hit the spot because we were hungry, but it felt a little dry on the palate. The service is where it fell short. While bread and pasta arrived promptly, our pizza took over an hour. When we politely checked on the delay, the response was a bit dismissive - we were simply asked if we "had to leave early".
Che Fico never disappoints. The short braised rib ravioli was absolutely incredible — rich, tender, and full of flavor in every bite. The focaccia bread was perfectly soft and fluffy, with just the right amount of olive oil and salt. On top of the amazing food, the service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. A must-visit spot in San Francisco🌉for anyone who appreciates great Italian food done right.
This was an interesting experience. We wanted to try something new and Che Fico is always on every list of must try places so we thought we'd try it out. I'll start with the pros and then move into what didn't work for me. Pros: The Giardinera Martini is really good and something you don't see every day. Personally I liked the foccacia and the stronger Fennel taste but that's just me. My pasta had a filling with nettle which also was new for me, and good. But overall the service was all over the place. Sometimes we were rushing, sometimes there was no one. We came right at our reservation and we were told to go to the "waiting area" which is just a bar, with people super busy to take orders. Its Friday night so its going to be busy, I. get it. But tables were also empty. Also, its very pricy. I don't mind spending money when the food blows you away, and in SF there are several places that you can get that at. My experience at Che Fico just seemed like it was "dining out on its own reputation." Still, they have been around for a while so maybe its worth trying again. Or maybe just for some drinks and a snack.
Inattentive service and average tasting foods. Bread tastes amazing but anything that goes with/on it is somewhat pale in comparison. May give it another try if I’m in the neighborhood.
It is not very veg friendly. I really enjoyed the pizza and the cheesecake but the pasta was ok not filling. I think my company enjoyed more. Considering cost, I don't believe it is worth it to go back or recommend to others. That all being said, I'm vegetarian and may not be true for others.
The positive reviews here are battling ! I don’t really get this place why it has so many reviews and so many people highly recommend this restaurant. Our server was Annie or Anna ? And she had a bit of an attitude (I don’t have time to explain to you our food, just look at the menu) - in order to understand the menu, you need a de-cryption software, explained in a language that is not easy to understand The mains are tiny portions - we had the tortellini dish, and it came with five tiny ravioli for $30 (basically appetizer portion). The flavor profile was overly sweet, to the point that it makes you wonder is it supposed to be a dessert pasta? The only good was that presentation was cute/pretty. We asked the server to help us find a vegetable side that has a lot of vegetables and she recommended the zucchini dish - sadly, it was a pumpkin dish full of carbs! Obviously, she doesn’t know the difference between vegetable and carbs! At the end of the dinner, the server was profusely verbose about Strauss ice cream after she brought out the check - I guess she was trying to make up for the terrible service by trying to be friendly so that she can get a good tip? $150 for a dinner it’s not worth it when the server gives you the attitude and makes you feel like your questions about the menu is not welcome, and doesn’t make the right recommendation when I asked.
My experience at their Sunday brunch was sincerely one of the worst I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We were ready to order by the time they brought us water, which was a good 10-15 minutes after we sat down. 40 minutes went by and we were starving, so we ordered bloody mary’s to help the time pass. The bloody marys were basically blended salsa and way too sweet. It was so awkward, but it was over an hour and fifteen minutes since we ordered and our food still hadn’t come, so I got up and asked our waiter for the check. They apologized and weren’t rude, but ran to the kitchen to check on our meals and of course immediately came out with our plates. They explained they were training new people and apologized again, comping only our drinks. As noted in the pictures, the food looked like it was sitting out for a while. The food was not hot, and there was a film over the hollandaise sauce. We left the restaurant with uneasy stomachs. I think the staff should take food safety protocols more seriously. I will not be returning.
