Went to try their seafood extravaganza and loved it
Lovely, overlooking the ocean with views out to Catalina. Delicious Chilean sea bass - buttery, served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Generous portion of tuna tartare. Good cocktails. Good prices, too
Catalina Kitchen is a beautiful restaurant located at Terranea in Palos Verdes with excellent food and amazing service. The seafood buffet on Friday nights is a great time to visit with lots of great choice and the food is all very fresh and high quality. The buffet featured crab legs, claws, shrimp, sushi, 3 or 4 cuts of beef, and a wide selection of hot and cold dishes from risotto to scampi, chicken, salmon, and it goes on. Catalina Kitchen staff was very attentive and helpful.. the service was really top notch. They offer convenient valet parking and special menus and buffets so check the schedule for special events. The resort is in the most incredible location with waves crashing the the rocky cliffs, endless trails and breathtaking views there is so much to do and see beyond the restaurants. Overall Catalina was a great experience and highly recommended.
I’m very grateful to Catalina Kitchen for their delicious food, outstanding service, and professionalism. They tailored the orders exactly to our requests and even prepared low-salt options for my elderly father, which meant so much to us. Mr. Jerry Bullock truly made our experience unforgettable. Plenty of heater-lamps and fire pits on this brisk evening. Heather and Miles along with their support staff were perfectly attentive. Dishes were served adequately spaced for an un-rushed experience. The Parmesan crusted asparagus appetizer was double the portion I was expecting. Light and crispy exterior and delicious all around. I recommend the bone-in ribeye. It came with mashed potatoes and a vegetable. A nice variety of desserts available and the three we had were all delicious in their own right. This was my fourth time at this restaurant and I’m looking forward to my next visit already.
Highly recommend this location for excellent service, great views, and great food. My family and I have been coming to Catalina Kitchen because of the great service received by Server Mota, Elly, and Louisa. Mota has a great sense of humor and always connects with my son and Father in Law. I recommend the Sunday brunch due to the selection. Say hello to Jerry, one of the Managers who always wants to know about your experience. Daniel at the bar makes excellent drink. Ask him for the Daniel Special, a passion fruit martini. This is a 5* location for my family and I.
Ryan our server was awesome during our dinner assisting in everything to detail. Actually this was my first time ever eating here...view is amazingly beautiful and food was more than superbly delicious cooked to perfection and savory goodness in every single bite. My Love really surprised me with this date night. He has been there many times before, needless to say this was a remarkable experience to share together another ONE of a Kind moment full of many unforgettable mouthwatering delicious delights that we shared🌻❤️Finally knowing that this place exists and so close is worth the drive the sunsets the momentum truly Breathtaking. Just see for yourself when you look at what we shared servings are perfect for sharing of course if you’re super hungry don’t settle for just a bit help yourself to all the delicious entrees dishes and desserts. Oh some of the videos are slow motion for extra affects...🤣😎❤️❤️🌖🌞
We came here for the Friday seafood buffet, which is $68 pp and features all-you-can-eat crab legs. It was a great deal, on par with Vegas buffets in terms of quality and selection as well as service. The sushi selections were crammed with fresh tuna and crab, the crab legs themselves were fresh and juicy, and the raw bar was solid as well (although pass on the oysters, they're not that special -- juicy but lacking in flavor). Cocktail was nice as well. Eating on the patio was a perk, and the heated lamps made the cold sea winds no problem whatsoever.
For seafood lovers, the Friday Seafood Extravaganza at catalina kitchen at Terrenea may be a good way to spend an evening eating all the sushi, crab legs, scallops, and poke you’d like. Came here with my family during a staycation and made a reservation in advance. It’s $85 per person and you can charge it to the room if you’re staying at the property or with credit card. Indoor and outdoor dining available. There is a kid’s buffet area with wings, pizza, mac & cheese, etc. as well as meat options (ie prime rib, tomahawk, Mary’s chicken). The dessert bar was well stocked and they have ice creams as well. The mango sorbet was the surprise hit of the night and my family went back for seconds (and thirds). It is good for large parties as well as for special occasions, though many people were dressed casually. Overall, this was a spot to go to if you’re hungry and looking to eat at a fancier buffet. Very nice restaurant - nice to sit outside with the heaters on. Servers were extremely nice and friendly. Food and drinks were good. I really enjoyed the heirloom tomato salad with burrata. We also got the Marguerita pizza, sweet potato fries and Brussel sprouts - all of which were okay. The cocktails were good and generous with alcohol.
Overall - flavors and food were amazing! The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because the Margherita Pizza was a tad bit disappointing in comparison to the other food. The crust and cheese could have been better but the salad & creme brûlée cheesecake made up for the lack of. The strawberry CK margarita was so good & has a nice kick to it - loved it! The creme brûlée cheesecake is probably one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had - the crunch from the caramelization on the top adds the perfect bite & the gelato added a nice chill to it. The drinks took about 30 minutes to come out but what I will say is the customer service was A1. The manager was so nice as well as our host & assisted with explaining why there was a delay in service. I will definitely be back again!
Really great quality food and service. The cost is about $70 per person for the Sunday Buffet, not including drinks. At today's buffet they had tri tip, prime rib, crab legs, oysters, clams and Kobe beef sliders among other great dishes. The only down side is that they stop replacing some of the dishes after 1:30pm (the buffet ends at 3:00pm). Besides that, the servers and runners provide you with excellent customer service and you get a great view of the ocean if you seat outside. Overall, this place is more for people who are out on a date, if you are celebrating someone's special day (Birthday, wedding anniversary, etc.). At $70 per person, it's a pricey meal. By the way, parking is $10 if you get it validated at the restaurant. Otherwise, its $40.
The service and views (outside) make up for the abysmal food. Microwaved bread, over-sauced meat and fish, and instant mashed potatoes are never okay especially at a place that is (seemingly) so nice. A good wine list and interesting beer menu are also on offer. Overall, a great place for a drink but avoid the food at all costs.
It certainly has its charms, but has taken a few steps backwards in 2025. The venue can be excellent when being seated outside in nice weather. The food used to be interesting and really solid, but this year the menu underwent changes that eliminated some favorites without any obvious upgrades. Also now gone (and missed) is a small but delightful happy hour menu. Added was a very mediocre dinner buffet. Basically, if you are staying at the hotel, certainly give it a try, but the value of the experience no longer justifies a 'dinner out' trip for locals.
First things first, great service from Augusto and Enzo. Came every day during my stay. Overall rating: A for Adequate. Thursday lunch: Had the Crab Louie salad, more mayo than crab or salad, and It’s About Thyme, a.k.a. Orangina. Friday breakfast: Avocado Toast. Saturday breakfast: Waited 20 mins for a table. Limited menu. Sunday breakfast: Even more limited menu. Had the breakfast croissant sandwich on both days. Prices were comparable to airport hotel, but the food definitely tasted better.
Good food. Poor service. Seemed understaffed on a Wednesday night. Food took a long time to come. At the end of the meal we commented on the delicious addition of lemon to the olive oil in one of the dishes and the waiter was kind enough to bring us the bottle for viewing. Waiter did forget flatware. Great view and everyone was friendly and nice. Second time we noted understaffing at a resort restaurant. It's a shame because the food quality is above typical resort food. Waiters need better support.
