Opinions de Flyin Fin Redondo Beach
I recently dined at Flyin fin and it was an outstanding experience. The food was exceptionally good and fresh, with every piece of sushi meticulously prepared and bursting with flavor. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, making it a true delight for sushi lovers. What truly set this restaurant apart, however, was the amazing service. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made sure that every aspect of our meal was perfect, from the moment we walked in to the time we left. Overall, Flyin Fin offers a fantastic dining experience with top-notch food and exceptional service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great sushi restaurant. ---
If you have unruly toddlers or 4 legged family members you can dine outside, very casual. Sushi choices were varied definitely recommend. We had the salmon collar and yellow fin collar as appetizers. They were excellent.
The best sushi place I have been to in a very long time. Everything was amazing. The outdoor seating is just lovely. The service so friendly and fast. The food is the best quality and portions are very generous. Pricing is very fair. I can’t wait to come back, this place deserves 10+ stars. Absolutely the best! A must try!!!
Fantastic first experience! Delicious rolls all around. Customer service was also excellent. Fast service and nice place. Highly recommend and my family and I will definitely be back sooner than later.
When first opened was very good... not too sure but complacency has set it, menu was dirty, plate presentation was nothing...food quality is good...but no lunch specials, was unusual...just happy hour...good place will go again...but guys please keep up those small things, clean those menus daily, please
This is definitely a local hangout favorite. The staff was so friendly, and the service was fast, but attentive. The atmosphere was upbeat and fun. The sushi was delicious! Special thanks to Jackie for his generous welcome.
Servers are all young when i went but the one my friend and i had was great. She knew what she was doing, how to be efficient and had great customer service skills. They were out of oysters when i went. Sushi was good.
We have been several times over the last few years when we are here visiting our kids and grandkids and each time is better than the last. The food is terrific and creative. The services as the food comes out quite quickly. Happy hour venues are amazing with a great variety at very good prices. Highly recommend but if possible, it’s more fun to sit outside.
Small quaint location with exceptional cuts of fish and prompt customer service. Delicious rolls and sushi. Even something simple like the edamame was presented better with superior quality than the other local place I frequent. The atmosphere made for a perfect dinner experience. Will definitely go back if I'm in the area
I came at a recommendation of a friend and I think I found my favorite local sushi spot! The service was quick and our server was very very nice. The spicy edamame is a staple appetizer that everyone must get. It clearly goes out the most. Happy hour is a great way to try new things and save some money. I'll be returning to try more.
Wonderful sushi spot with inventive sushi options. I ordered the "secret" with no limitations on what I'd prefer from the chefs. What I received was the highest value sushi plate I have ever had with essentially free, sashimi stylishly plated. Flyin' Fin could easily be 50% more expensive elsewhere in the LA area. Come for happy hour!
Wow my mouth Waters just writing this. The sushi here is excellent and the chefs even make custom rolls for you. Everyone is friendly and the Ambiance is great. It's in a cute little area as well next to a variety of restaurants. It's a pricey habit but we all have our vices. Yum yum :)
My family and I have been frequenting flyin fin for years and it’s just phenomenal. We’ve gotten a bunch of different specialty rolls and they’re all incredible. If you’re not picky i highly recommend the “top secret”. The chef makes up a special roll for you and WOW THE ONE WE HAD TONIGHT KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF.
Our 1st visit, and we loved it! Unfortunately, there was a table of very rude patrons there before we arrived. They were trying to save seats, and were very rude to others trying to be seated. I mentioned the incident to the server, as we were being seated. He was very apologetic. The staff had been unaware as they were indoors retrieving food. The server ensured we were seated far away from this group, and took care of us to ensure we had an excellent experience. The food was amazing & delicious. Our group ordered several items to try various things. We were not disappointed by the food quality. They were very busy, during the time we were there. They would benefit if they had someone who focused solely on drink refills, but other than that very helpful staff. When we visit the area again, we would definately eat here again. Yum!
I had a great experience at Flyin Fin in Los Angeles, California. It's a great place to go if you're looking for a quality sushi meal, but also want something different than the usual. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing! I definitely recommend this place if you're in the area!
The food was sooooo good we forgot to take a picture before we eat it lol..........sushi was great and the service too!! Can't wait to go back!!
Great spot for sushi! Great food, quick service, and friendly staff!
I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone & I will continue to bring people here every time we have visitors. The service is incredible, I always have the sweetest waitresses and the food is always consistent and INCREDIBLE. I’ve never ordered anything that wasn’t delicious but I would highly recommend any of their special rolls and definitely their firecracker. YUM
3 of us went to the Flyin Fin later on a Sunday evening [~7:45p]. Ive been wanting to come here for over 10 yrs, but because of other circumstances, and that my residence is over 1500mi away... its been a rare occassion that puts me in a spot to be able to come here. Well.. the wait is over. Tonight there was no wait to be seated but It was busy, not crowded, with a fair number of patrons both outside and in. I took it as a good sign its still busy at 7:45p on a Sunday. Friendly greeting, friendly and very helpful staff. We ordered 3 rolls the staff recommened for us based on what we liked: (the flying fin, absolutely amazing, and the mega omega), a couple of beers (sapporo and kirin) and also a blue fin toro sashimi. The service, the presentation, and the food were all incredible, and i will try to come back again on this trip before i depart the area again. Update: we were able to return, same great service, atmosphere, and wonderful food and experience.
Definitely the best sushi spot I tried in the Redondo Beach/Palos Verdes/Torrance area. Make sure you try the Flyin Fin roll and the Absolutely Amazing roll, they are extremely delicious!
“Sushi With Attitude and lil Jennifer — and Service With a Spark” Walked through the doors expecting decent sushi. Left convinced I’d just stepped out of a culinary love story. The place had that quiet confidence — no gimmicks, no neon chaos. Just craftsmanship humming under the lights. The air smelled of soy, citrus, and perfection. You can tell when a kitchen’s in rhythm. This one was singing. Then came the greeting — Jennifer. Calm, radiant, and professional to the bone. She didn’t just welcome me; she anchored the evening. I thought I came hungry for sushi, but apparently, I came for an experience. And Jennifer orchestrated it like a conductor with chopsticks. Started with the Pennnato Sushi — soft texture, elegant balance, melt-in-your-mouth precision. The sort of bite that makes you whisper an apology to every bad sushi you’ve ever eaten. Presentation? Absolute art. Each piece looked sculpted by a samurai with OCD. Jennifer approached with the kind of grace that makes time slow down. Perfect timing — not too soon, never too late. She suggested the Top Secret Roll next. When a server recommends something with that much quiet confidence, you listen. One bite in — fireworks. Layers of flavor moving like a damn orchestra: spice, sweetness, silk-smooth fish, crunch for rhythm. Bloody magnificent. I asked her what was in it. She smiled — mysterious — said, “It’s a secret.” That’s when I realized this meal had layers beyond the plate. The O Crab Sushi arrived golden and proud. Crunchy exterior, creamy heart, flavor bold enough to grab you by the collar. Each bite was confidence wrapped in seaweed. Whoever engineered that roll deserves a handshake from God himself. Jennifer refilled my tea — smooth, effortless — the kind of service you don’t teach; it’s instinct. Then the Rainbow Roll landed. Color that could make a painter cry. Taste that could make a chef retire. The way the fish layered — tuna, salmon, shrimp — was like a conversation of textures. Harmony on a plate. Every roll came out picture-perfect. Not a grain of rice out of place. That’s discipline. That’s pride. Jennifer glided by again — that calm energy that holds a room together. Professional yet warm. She didn’t just serve; she read the rhythm. You know a great waiter when they can predict your thoughts. She did that all night. Needed soy? There it was. Napkin? Appeared like magic. The restaurant pulsed with quiet confidence — chefs focused, guests happy, music low enough to talk but high enough to feel. There’s this moment halfway through the meal when you realize — you’re not just eating; you’re witnessing craftsmanship. And every time she checked in, that spark of care in her eyes reminded me that great service is as important as great sushi. The Top Secret Roll lingered in my memory — spicy finish, silky middle, crisp afterthought. Like a story told perfectly. The kitchen nailed every texture — cold fish, warm rice, crunch, cream, balance. That’s a chef who gives a damn. But here’s what sealed the night — Jennifer’s consistency. Every guest, same grace, same poise, same professional charm. There’s power in details. The subtle smile, the confident step, the perfect pace. She turned dinner into an art form. By dessert, I wasn’t even hungry — but I stayed. The energy in the room was addictive. Mochi sweet, tea warm, vibe immaculate. Leaving, I realized the meal was flawless, but what made it unforgettable was how it felt. Calm, effortless, alive. Food this good doesn’t just fill you; it moves you. And service like that doesn’t fade when you walk out the door. To the chef — bravo. To the team — respect. And to Jennifer — if excellence had a face, it would be yours. I’ll be back, and next time, I’m ordering the Top Secret Roll twice.
Flying Fin is a great sushi place right in the heart of the Riv.. with the outdoor dining on the street and a lively indoor bar area. The menu has many of the typical items but there are some nice special rolls and dishes you won't find elsewhere. Service is friendly and fast.. they are busy and tend to be pretty crowded at peak times... and friends you want a BUSY sushi place.. that means they sell through the fish constantly and it is always fresh. We have dined here countless times and we always enjoy it.. making it one of our favorite sushi spots in the area. Parking is parking... plan accordingly.. bring your feet and some quarters.
Best sushi rolls in all of Los Angeles. We always love the top secret roll which is the daily chef creation. The pornado isn't my favorite roll, but it's a must have for the experience 😂. All of the sushi here is inventive, creative and unique. Highly recommend. They also have an insane happy hour!! Buy a roll get a roll 50% off and it's on weeknights but also from 12-5pm on Saturday and Sunday making it the perfect sushi lunch place on the weekends!!! I drive 40 minutes to eat here, that's how good it is.
First time here, outdoor seating is preferred. Indoor is a little dark and loud. This is my new favorite sushi place! Really unique offering on rolls (loved the pickled jalapeño in the Medusa Madness!), miso soup was excellent w/ fresh seaweed and firecracker tuna app was great! We didn’t wait long to sit and the service was attentive and quick. Can ask for more than that!
Delicious food and incredible service! It’s my go to spot in the Bay Area for a reason 👍 come here if you’re looking for good food and a good time! bo and Fah the sushi chefs make you feel so welcomed!
A rare night out for us as new parents, this was definitely JUST what we needed. It was our first time here, so we decided to experiment and go for the omakase (chef's selection) course. Not only was the sushi and courses spot on, the service was impeccable, including a very enthusiastic boss (Jackie was awesome!) who offered us lame non drinkers some sake and provided a very educational demonstration of their raw oysters. Everything was perfect about our experience, even the bill!!!
Flying Fish Sushi was excellent! Their sushi was fresh, delicious, and very well presented!! Service was excellent from the whole staff! We love this place!

Food was wonderful, though slightly pricey (isn’t sushi always pricey?). Service was friendly and attentive, and they have a nice seating area out on the sidewalk with heaters so you can enjoy a cool southern California evening.
Love love love this place! We went for my sons birthday dinner and they went above and beyond with an adorable koala orange creation- so unique and cute. Service is prompt and professional, super kind. Sushi is fresh and prices are reasonable. Thank you Flyin Fin!
This sushi restaurant just got 110+ bonus points in my book for this cute little adorable panda bear orange dessert alone that they made! Am I the only one who misses having oranges cut up after a sushi meal? I asked for them and the sushi chef cut up the cutest little animal out of the orange! This is some cruise-ship level entertainment! On top of it, the staff were so friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!!!

The food was great. The options have changed since the last time we were there. Canned soda is always a turn-off. The crowd at the sushi bar was a bit wild, loud and abrasive. The service was great and the chef came out to chat. Thanks for a great meal.
Strong smell of sanitizer throughout the restaurant. I wish I sat outside. Good food, great service.
Very solid sushi spot! We stopped in while visiting the area and loved it. Would come back for sure!
Nice outdoors seating on a good day. Had 2 rolls and 2 "carpaccio". Rolls were ok but had better in the area. The albacore with onion was a definite pass, it did not work at all imo. The snapper was delicious, light and refreshing flavor.

Fusion sushi done by Thai chefs. The specialty rolls are good (large portions). The normal sushi bar items from market (some written on the chalk board) and sushi/sashimi platters are more expensive than other sushi places. I would stick to their rolls.
While the sushi is consistently awesome, I spent over $100 for a delivery order and received ZERO chopstick, napkins, soy, wasabi or ginger. I expect better. Not a good experience as we had to improvise and not what we expected for $100+ spent…

They have good prices over here. I know some people complained about Happy Hour prices not being honored, but we arrived there for their dinner service and had our prices honored. The rolls were great all around, though we did order the soft shell crab and it wasn't all that great (not enough meat!) The real issue for us was the service, even though we arrived for the beginning of dinner service, it took them an hour before we got our rolls. Our plans to double up on rolls were ruined by the wait, meanwhile most of other people waited got their food much earlier.
I had the sushi platter here with my friend. The food was ok. The salmon was a tad bit fishy and slimy. The rolls were ok. The staff was ok in checking in with us but seemed too busy because of the volume of people both inside and outside. The decor was very much not memorable. Basic white white decor that looks clean and safe. I'm surprised with the quality given this place is related to dashi dashi and that place seems so much better.

The service was great and friendly. All of the food tasted fine, though fish in our sushi seemed a little less cold than I typically expect. The next day my wife and I both felt fairly ill. It was the only place we ate at together on our visit, which eliminates other variables, and we shared all of the food we ordered.
5 birthdays passed before I got my food Food was good tho
This was the most terrible sushi I have ever had wow. Fish taste was horrible not fresh, it really took a lot for me to come on here and write a review but I don't understand how these businesses stay open. People must be clueless ! Sorry guys but that fish was a 0. Good Luck
A metal wire in the food. The taste is good. But... My wife ate Unagi rolls yesterday and she felt something scraping her mouth, but she thought it was bones and swallowed it. But today she ate the leftovers, felt something foreign again and found a metal wire, about 1.5 inches long. She is shocked and assumes that she swallowed some wire yesterday and is afraid for her health.
