Opinions de Pete's Famous Restaurant Rhinebeck
Awesome breakfast Eggs Benedict was very good. And hone fries cooked perfectly. The ladies waiting on us were very nice.
We went for breakfast sandwiches. Amazing food, all homemade, freshly squeezed ok, baked ham on my egg sandwich, wonderful & caring waitress, gave my hubby 3 cups of coffee, & extremely reasonable!!! An absolute must!!!
The staff is AWESOME! The food is great - I had Nachos appetitizer with the Shrimp Alfredo for my entree. Family friendly atmosphere.
Fabulous Always good food served with a smile. In fact staff goes above and beyond to please. If I would have to criticize anything it would be some of the clientele. I was there once when a child on the spectrum was heightened waiting for her food to come. A woman with an opinion was in the booth behind me saying control your child or leave.
My friend and I had an enjoyable lunch inside the dining area. Plenty of social distancing provided and friendly, quick service. Also, not rushed at all as we spent around 2 hours just talking. Would definitely go back there.
Right in the middle of Rhinebeck, with all the stores and specialty restaurants, is Pete's - a delightfully non-specialty coffee shop (diner? cafe?), with an extensive menu. The food, service, and price were very good and we had an enjoyable lunch.
Delicious and incredible portions size. My friend couldn't finished her order. We all loved. One of the waiters looks like Ruth Gordon impersonation. We well be back.
Awesome diner with great food, and lovely owners and staff!! Cozy and homey and a must-stop when visiting Rhinebeck!!
Loved the food and the quick and friendly service. Philly Cheese Steak was done perfectly. Definitely a place to stop in and enjoy the atmosphere. They also have outdoor seating.
Great breakfasts and wonderful wait staff. Classically excellent diner food Ate breakfast there twice....even though a free continental breakfast was included with our hotel stay.
Great food and service... Very polite and well priced.... Love it
Excellent breakfast served by a very professional waitress. She was just perfect like the food.
If you’re looking for good diner food, with great service and a nice atmosphere, Pete’s is perfect. Breakfast lunch and dinner is always great.
We were trying to find a new restaurant to try and we found your place We were impressed by the size of your menu so many different things to choose from unfortunately I am on a diet otherwise I'd go nuts here.....we have been here maybe 4 times now and i have gotten your ceasar salad with steak and shrimp....it is absolutely amazing every single time not to peppery at all my mom and dad have gotten something different each time and they have thoroughly enjoyed each meal
The food here is delicious. The staff is very friendly. Was there on vacation and stopped in for breakfast. Would be a regular if I lived in the area.
I work in Rhinebeck and frequently eat here. Food is great, fast service. Most affordable food in Rhinebeck but great tasting. Staff is friendly and helpful. Go here, you'll enjoy it.
Wonderful Mom and Pop long time Diner/Restaurants. Fresh food, Great service and best Rice Pudding. Our family has been going to Pete’s for years Always good to see familiar faces. The owners and staff have great old time values . Although we eat meals at a booth, I still love to eat at the old fashion counter for a cup of coffee and Pie 🥧. Take a moment in time to enjoy a bit of yesteryear at Pete’s. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all delicious!
This is a lovely little place with inexpensive tasty food that comes in a wide variety. I am partial to their breakfast choices! The staff is lovely, the ambience is cozy and comfortable. Great for children! One of my favorite stops to make while I am in town.
Delicious breakfast. I get the French toast deluxe and a side of home fries with onions, well done (DONT FORGET THE HOME FRIES!) And share it and it's the best breakfast around, hands down and I've been almost everywhere within a 15 mile radius for breakfast!
We had 2 lunches. Both meals had very generous portions and the food was delicious. Our waitress was very polite.our bill came to $30.00 with tax. Id highly recommend this place. They have meal choices for anybodies liking.
We accidentally found this cozy little diner while in Rhinbeck for the front porch festival. The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing! Pete's reminds me of what diners are supposed to be. Good balanced home cooked meals. We ordered 3 meals. The side salad was fresh and a nice size. The side bowl of soup was huge. Mind you I said bowl. This was not a little tea cup full. We we pretty full by the time the entrees arrived. Both meals came with a potato of our choice and mixed veggies. The portion of fresh steamed vegetables was huge. They were also cooked to perfection. They were soft but crisp. The open faced Turkey sandwich filled the plate. It also came with cranberry sauce. The grilled chicken had amazing flavor. There were 3 large pieces of chicken in this dish. Our 3rd meal was from the children's menu. It was a plain burger & fries. This turned out to be a full size burger not a kids mini burger. I highly recommend you stop by Pete's for some old fashioned diner food.
Disco fries are amazing so is the reuben
Always fantastic service really friendly staff and always a short wait for food. I go almost weekly for breakfast and never have complaints. Food is always hot and delicious. Would recommend to all to try eating here.
What a great place for breakfast or lunch. Nothing fancy, just and old fashion luncheonette with terrific food. Had lunch special yesterday, soup and half a sandwich. Tomato rice soup and tuna salad were both top of the line. Have been here before and will certainly be back again.
Solid food. Very friendly staff. It's our family's go-to.
Delicious food. Super cozy, and decorated for the season. Dee, our server was warm, funny, and wonderful!! Buffalo chicken appetizer was delicious, Greek salad, pancakes, BLT....all good!! Great Music!!
Stopped here on a late Monday night after driving by for dinner. It was delish! Photos of food did not disappoint. However, I would recommend a little love on the fries. They weren't anything to write home about.
My mother and I stop in after a hike. Great idea for sure, our server was so sweet and attentive. It was busy but made sure we had everything we needed. The food was awesome, will definitely be going back.
Probably my favorite place I've eaten at in the region. I come to NY on vacation to visit my girlfriend and we've been to Pete's twice, both of which being exceptional experiences. The first time, I was feeling very tired and faint from not eating, and the meal here perked me right back up. The second, we came for breakfast on Halloween, and not only was the food phenomenal as I'd come to expect, our waitress was such a darling and I liked her a lot. She provided great service, was very charming and energetic despite apparently having had a HUGE rush right before we came in and being on her own, and made sure we were never wanting for anything. She was one of the highlights of my trip - I don't remember her name, but she had gray hair in a bob with bangs and a really sweet smile. Not only is the food delicious, it's super affordably priced and you get pretty big portions. It comes out fast, too. Out of everywhere in Rhinebeck I'd probably choose Pete's to eat at whenever I'm feeling hungry in the area. I really like it and I can't wait to live more local to it so I can have the food there more often.
Came here for a warm brunch on a snowy day after we couldn't drink our coffee inside of Samuel's Sweet Shop. The service was nice and fast. The food was wonderful diner food. The farmer's omelet was light and fluffy, not at all greasy. These were the best attempt at breakfast potatoes I had during my visit up north- they tasted flavorful and buttery (I prefer my home fries as tasty cubes of crunchy pillowy potato goodness but up north they seem to serve them as thinly sliced and overly fried/saturated in oil.). The blueberry pancakes I tasted were fluffy and sweet. I wouldn't hesitate to return if I was in the area. A nice affordable option.
Best diner in town. Not just because it's the only one lol but because they make some really yummy stuff. Owners are the nicest. I love you the chicken parmesan hero. It is by far the best in town. I have to do a picture
A wonderful breakfast is highly recommended, the warm and family treatment you receive at the entrance was amazing. The place is cozy and very clean and the service is fast. We made an order for breakfast (eggs, toast, and salad). The meal arrived quickly and hot so it was really fun to eat and enjoy really worth every moment
Everything you'd want from an old school diner. The food is solid, the coffee is ground fresh, simply the best diner I've been to in years.
Old School Diner. Great Breakfast. Great Service. I enjoyed The Breakfast Special. 2 eggs Home fries and Toast. I added the sausage links and Coffee. Great Service. I recommend.
This is a wonderful place in a wonderful town! Burgers were big, fries were super hot, it all was delicious! Every staff member managed to brighten our day, especially our server! We can’t wait to return!
First off, to all those individuals complaining about atmosphere: what do you expect? It's a classic diner experience: loud, rowdy, and your favorite regulars. Next, to the people ordering steak, fruit bowls, and other high-brow items: you realize it's a diner, right? Stick with coffee, eggs, and maybe the burgers and quesadillas. But what can you expect from those living in the wealthy village of Rhinebeck? You could take them to the tastiest disheveled food truck, and they'd still complain. I come here often with friends and family, and it has never let me down. Pete's Famous Omelette is to die for. Home fries within the omelette plus more home fries on the side? Perfection. Coffee is coffee, so no complaints there. The chocolate chip pancakes are a great addition when I'm feeling a bit more gluttonous. Plus, the price is still reasonable despite other diners serving lower quality food for more money. But most importantly, the staff are wonderful. Some of them are moody and complain while others are cracking jokes with their tables. Either way, it's that old time diner experience I miss from when I lived further south. Dee is absolutely wonderful and always makes sure I'm all set. Never change, Pete's!
We were looking for a place to have simple, tasty, diner-esque lunch. No muss, no fuss. Reasonably priced. Quick, etc. and that's what we got! A lovely "Happy Waitress". Tasty fries. Delicious turkey melt. We all devoured our sandwiches which came out crazy quick! Definitely recommend. Easy municipal parking as a bonus.
Pete’s: my new favorite Rhinebeck diner. Breakfast all day and other yummys, served with love. I sat at the counter and instantly had many new friends. Food is fabulous, but the ambient love is what differentiates Pete’s from all the other great Rhinebeck spots. Stop in, you’ll see what I mean. ❤️
Delightful diner!!! The owners were very congenial and attentive. The food was excellent and the service impeccable. Very, very nice!!!
Thank you to Pete’s, all the other store fronts, and the Village of Rhinebeck for accommodating for outdoor seating during these times. The food came out quick, and was delicious. Ordered the panini and the bread itself was fresh and yummy. My partner ordered waffle fries, which were crispy and not greasy. Staff was super friendly, clean, and fast. I would definitely come here again to try the rest of their menu.
Excellent place to have a good home cooked meal. Nothing fancy,. Very good food. Soup excellent. My go to place when I'm passing thru Rhinebeck. Rula and her husband own it,. Great little place to eat.
Look, this is the place where locals go. I bet it hasn’t changed since the early 90s. Even the music playing is from that era. You won’t be blown away with food, but atmosphere is great.
Fries are excellent. Burgers are big
It's a New York diner. No frills, simple food, typically weak but endless coffee. So, sometimes the staff get an attitude, but that's not only "New York" but understandable with the New Yorkers who come up here and expect a small town diner to be trendier than that diner they won't eat at back in Midtown. It's a diner. Whattaya expect? And what's with all the bad reviews from "Local Guides" that nobody here ever heard of? They aren't local! Pete's is an institution in Rhinebeck. You don't like it, go eat in Beacon or Cold Spring, pr back in the City. We're pretty happy with it just as it is.
Love Pete's. Easy country old fashioned Greek Diner. Family owned and operated. Find them at the fairgrounds too. Not a fancy expensive place like many of the other restaurants in Rhinebeck.
I rate it a 4 as it is diner type food, but it ' s done very good. The cooking is better than you would expect, and the ingredients are very good. The wait staff and hosts are all very nice. It is a nice home town type of place.
Great selection, warm friendly service. I like breakfast there or lunch/dinner too. Lobe the simple burgers and the chicken burrito. Of course the Greek Salad is excellent and huge.
Owners were very nice. Food was good. Parking across street in lot and on street. Plenty of options to have here. They have Gluten free bread if you have an allergy.
Pete's serves consistently good diner food. Breakfast, lunch, dinner... You may want to go a little early as some nights they may close early. Good wholesome diner with caring service and family friendly atmosphere.
Cute Place in a quaint little town. Food was good. I had a panini and my daughter did as well. It was very good. Waitress was very nice and attentive. We stopped in for a quick lunch after visiting the venue where my daughter is getting married. We're from CT but we'd come back when we're in the area.
Nice small-town diner. Attentive hostess and staff. Not a big menu for vegetarians but one can make it work. I had the Farmer's eggwhite omelet with tomatoes, mushrooms, and onions. It was very tasty, as was the side of potatoes. Highly recommend if you're passing through Rhinebeck.
You are never going to leave hungry ! The portions were giant, the table service was friendly and fast, the cook was moving with a purpose. Overall it's a cozy place for a quick bite. There are other more upscale options that are a hop, skip, and a jump away if that is what you are after, Pete's is diner food and that's perfectly OK. What's important is that they are very consistent and a solid option.
What’s great: Above average diner food, diner experience, outdoor seating, great selection, true blue collar service What’s not great: diner food, no fresh squeezed juice and THEY USE PLASTIC STRAWS and plastic containers. Boo! Famous and local establishments like this need to lead by example. Too many excellent, non harmful plastic alternatives out there now. Shame on you. Hopefully this wakes some people up. I see these straws every day in the ocean and washing up on our beaches.
Pete's is a quiet and calm place to enjoy a peaceful breakfast. The staff are friendly and outgoing. Always available and will constantly keep your coffee cup filled. The food is always delicious and if you have any special requests they are happy to fulfil them. I could spend hours here and never feel rushed. A truly wonderful way to start your day. I am giving 4 stars because of the repairs needed on the furnishings and flooring. I feel they could use a thorough update.
Quick and friendly service and the portions were generous. I went for breakfast and my order was as requested and delicious. UPDATE: We went to Pete's recently for lunch. I love Reubin Sandwiches and have ordered them often and in many different cities and states. I ordered one at Pete's and could not eat it. I would have if it was mediocre but it was much worse. When I returned it, I expected an apology; but instead I was challenged and made to feel that I was wrong. I left without lunch never to return.
5 stars for friendliness of staff especially with our baby. 4 stars because the food was good but a bit expensive for what it was a took a while to come out especially as they weren’t that busy.
Ordered Pete's Veggie and it was tasty. The service is really great - super kind staff!
We stopped in for breakfast and had a good meal. The French toast was good & the serving was generous. My scrambled egg was really good. I know, that's kind of random. Hubby got the French toast with link sausages & we brought home leftovers. The food selection is as generous as the portions, the atmosphere is casual & friendly & our server was lovely. We would go back again when in the area.
I'm always completely unimpressed with this place. All the people I know that go there always have the same reason... they've been going there forever. Okay. I'd prefer to go to at least three other places within walking distance. It's not bad, but it's nothing special. The staff is always friendly and the place is pretty clean.
Service was very good and the staff was very nice, but my soup was too salty--for me. The soup selection was very limited as there were only two available. If I had ordered something else, perhaps my rating would be different.
Went for lunch. The place was busy. Two waitresses and they were hustling. The cook in the kitchen was ringing the bell for the food to be picked up angrily. The bell was ringing so many times every time an order was up, a few other customers and myself complained to our server. She went back and said the way he was pounding on the bell was annoying the customers. He proceeded to scream and holler at her so loud we could hear every word out front. He really verbally attacked her and yelled for a few minutes. She was trying to tell him she is seating guests, taking cash, taking orders etc that she is ignoring the call bell and that made him big out even more. I asked if the owner was around and she sent him out to talk to me but he approached the wrong guest. She told him what had occurred and he just said the cook was having a bad day. He didn't care about what happened or how the customers felt about it. He turned and walked away as if nobody said a word and the bell ringing continued. The food was pretty good, a little expensive but good. I will not go back again after how this cook behaved toward the servers and indirectly to the customers.
I come here on a regular basis w/a group of guys. Today's visit compelled me to leave this comment, so all who follow ARE INFORMED BEFORE HAND ! Mind you they do go out of their way, but in the end you are paying for it. Their fruit cup is expensive & in asking for that instead of home fries I was charged an add'l $2.50 w/o any fact of being informed as such. My breakfast will change next Saturday.
Quite time of day so quite atmosphere. Steak cooked wrong twice, so left to eat fries and peas, then left with steak on its own. Salmon half dry. Hamburger and wings were great.
Went to Pete’s for a quick bite. Server was very attentive and friendly the management could learn customer service skills from her. My “medium” burger came out well done and tasted like it had been cooked in the microwave. When I politely told the manager I just didn’t care for it she replies in a nasty tone “everybody likes the burgers nobody complains”. I wasn’t looking for a discount and she tells me with a nasty attitude I took $5 off (which didn’t even cover the cost of the burger). Keep your $5 and your garbage burgers I won’t be going here again!
Disgusting! Dirty! Don't Eat Here! Hey everyone so my husband I decided to stop here for breakfast yesterday morning. At first glance the place looks very clean. The server came right over she was polite and really good at her job. After being here for a bit my husband and I noticed that we had a few flies going us well I get it one fly 2 flies maybe but when we end up with more then that I say gross. They have fly paper hanging were guests can see it. The vent in the breeze going to the kitchen is caked with dirt. This restaurant is Disgusting. Do not eat unless you want a stomach ache later. IT IS TO BAD THAT THIS PLACE IS THIS DIRTY BECAUSE THEY HAVE GREAT STAFF BUT I WILL NOT EAT IN A DIRTY PLACE. As for the food we'll the eggs Benedict my husband said was ok not the best but ok as for my spinach and feta omelet. All I can say is we're in the feta Lol. I would much rather had been able to give an outstanding review but, have to be real and tell you this is not were you want to eat. It's not safe to eat here with the insect problem and the dirt on the vents. GROSS! Remember have fun with with what your doing and keep it real because you know I do with each and every review. Your truly The Real Deal 12401
We were pretty disappointed with our experience overall. The steak was pure tendons and gristle… the flavor was not very good either. I asked for some steak sauce and at first was told they didn’t have any, then they found a bottle but unfortunately it didn’t help much. The service was not very good either. They are hiring for a cook, hopefully that will help. We will give them another try in a few months when we are back in town and hopefully I can give a positive update to this review…
Old school family diner vibes! Service was prompt and friendly. Good for breakfast or lunch. Diner menu is extensive as usual. I had the eggs Benedict, which was just OK, bht my danish was amazing! My family like their breakfast platters and omelettes. Right on the main strip in Rhinebeck so might be a great stop for locals and visitors alike, with something for the whole fam.
My fiancee and i tried this place for lunch. His buger was ok. The catsup saved it. Mine was lukewarm grease, zero flavor. The fries were bleh. The pickle was good. The waitress was pleasant.
I read the reviews. Yes the staff is nice and the food was served quickly. We asked the waitress what was Pete famous for? She had no answer other than he owned the diner for 20 years and another diner 20 years before that. There is nothing famous about this diner. Its just a diner with the same old diner breakfast food.... not even avocado toast or a healthy breakfast option. The breakfast menu is boring. The Eggs Benedict was drowning in a vivid orange colored Hollandaise Sauce? Pete's Famous was recommended by the host at the Beekman Arms and then I saw our waitress from dinner the night before as the breakfast waitress. I am wondering if its owned by the Beekman Arms or employee?? I recommend trying someplace better. We should have gone to Bread Alone, definitely our type of place. Why eat the same old same old when you can have it at your local diner.
To be fair we came in very late in the evening but the food was underwhelming and didn’t seem fresh. The quesadillas had ingredients that were not mentioned in the menu and seemed out of place in such a dish. The Mac and cheese was very low quality. The food was not made with any love. The service was nice enough but if you really care about good food there would be better places in Rhinebeck to eat.
I went with a friend who recommended this place. I was sorely disappointed by the quality of the food and truly amazed that the place was so packed. The noise level was so loud that we could barely talk. I treated her and the bill came to just over $30 with the tip. I have to say that the flat and super dry scrambled egg was the worst I have ever eaten in a restaurant. And the home fries were practically raw in places, which isn't so uncommon. My friend's over-easy eggs looked far better and she liked the corned beef hash. The only yummy things I had were the sesame bagel and coffee. The waitress was rather surly, but that sort of comes with the territory at a classic diner.
Food was terrible. Couldn't even attempt to eat the dinner I ordered and the pork chop smelled like it had been festering for a month. So many flies in the restaurant you couldn't even sit in peace. The owner loudly having a personal conversation on the phone the entire time was also not conducive to a meal
Waitress was excellent but the food & coffee was less than par. Omelette wasn’t fresh - eggs seemed to be old. Hash browns were not fresh either. Not what I expected and disappointed.
I will never order from this place again. I arrived and the food was not ready and I could see that they were rushing. All the food was undercooked, and it looked and tasted awful. They gave us 4 small containers of maple syrup and 2 of them were empty and used by someone else, it was so disgusting that we could not eat anything. I honestly don't know how this place is in business.
The sign said famous Pete's. Not sure what that references? The pancake I had was not that tasty and heavy. No real maple syrup. Coffee was average at best. Would try other places in the area. They have to be better, right????
The worst lunch I have ever eat. Baked fish has no taste at all, Rice was undercooked. We wait about 30 minutes to be sited, because location owner/manager doesn't want to sit our party of 5 people at one table. Highly recommend to avoid this place for lunch at Rhinebeck
Good stuff first, pleasant waitress, comfortable seating Now the real stuff: Food was absolutely horrendous. Let me be clear, if it was a gas station rest stop and was a 5 dollar special, I may have been more forgiving But a $50 bill for the worst chicken salad I have ever had, a lukewarm kids hot dog and my wife's bland whatever it was between two dry cheap slices of bread !!!!???? Guess you're paying to eat in the second home owner paradise village of Rhinebeck because it sure isn't the food. Save your money, (and digestion) and try the falafel nearby or if you're really hungry but want to save your wallet, even the local pizzeria across street would be a better option.
Such an awful meal. We both orders bison burgers with fries and coleslaw. The server admitted a new guy forgot to add anything but Mayo to the recipe. The burger was raw and both it and the fries had an awful chemical aftertaste. They tasted as if they had been fried in rancid oil. Service was very friendly and kind and the al fresco dining would have been lovely if the food was edible.
Horrible experience. Waitress was rude, never asked if we needed anything and proceeded to adjust her socks with her hands(as far as I can tell ot washing her hands afterwards). Owner sat at the counter and watched it all. Also, my food for the price was a joke. I plan to avoid this place like the plague! So so many better options around guys! Treat yourself to worthwhile food elsewhere.
I went there and ordered French toast and eggs over hard the lady brought me the food with cheese all over my French toast. I said I didn’t want it and wouldn’t like another order as cheese on French toast is disgusting. The waitress proceeded to flip her whole lid and say it’s disgusting to me not other people so I requested a manager or owner which she lied and stated that she was the owner. The police informed me that they are not the owner. I still was not able to get in contact with the owner or any management. The waitress tried to still charge me 38.40 for food that i returned because the waitress tried to order a replacement when I never wanted one. I am contacting the BBB as well as the Department of Health as this was the worse experience ever. I repeatedly requested management and was denied. Horrible service stay far far way
Stopped with a friend for late breakfast, place was empty, one other table just leaving, waitress went to table and threw plates in bucket so hard it made a sudden noise, we both jumped, it was startling, and said well if you break them first you don't have to wash them, to each other, waitress just snark, "really" then walked past us with a snippy remark, seriously?? you are throwing dishes in a bucket like its imperative to clear the table for others...again place was empty, then goes back to other wait staff and in a very loud voice says we were rude....place was empty....now I get why....we left, to many other good places to go to...My first and last time there. Try match box down the road, great food and lovely people.
First time entering Pete's famous restaurant, not even greeted by staff walked up to counter just to be rudely asked what I wanted. I told them I was here for door dash pick up and got nastily told that the order came in 7 mins ago and that I need to sit and wait or if I don't like it I can leave. Super rude way to treat your delivery drivers.. who are making you money. If you don't like dashers coming early stop offering delivery. Don't be rude to the drivers. I was considering trying this restaurant out with my family on my off time but after this experience I would rather not.
Ordered a couple breakfast sandwiches to go.. they didnt put the ingredients that I requested, bagel was stale, and condiments were put on the side in plastic containers instead of on sandwich as requested. Aren't we supposed to be cutting back on plastics? Anyhoo, sandwiches were awful..first and last time here.
