Back in the late 00s, my family and I were trying to find a since-closed restaurant further west on Campbell and we accidentally discovered Mumtaz - our favorite Indian restaurant. I'm a big fan of Indian food and I've tried a lot of places, and very few come close to the quality of Mumtaz (and their only real competition, India Palace, is significantly more expensive.) I used to come here strictly for the lunch buffet, which is excellent, but during the pandemic we started ordering off the menu, and what a menu. They have a wide variety of dishes, including both a vegetarian and a vegan menu. If you like Indian food, go to Mumtaz. If you think you might like Indian food, go to Mumtaz for the lunch buffet - it's a great value and they always have an interesting variety of dishes.

The kitchen service was very fast and convenient. The menu was very easy to read and all items on buffet were labeled with descriptions. The crew members were very friendly, helpful, attentive(by frequently checking water and clearing dishes), and knowledgeable. The business was very clean and has great "Indian"decorations. The food was accurate, hot and delicious. It was a very good experience. I will return.

My favorite Indian buffet restaurant. Chicken biryani and goat curry are served here which are two of my favorites. The chicken tandoori is also grilled to perfection. I prefer this location over the Plano location because they serve biryani here.

Dinner was delicious and great, has as been past 20+ years of dining here. Flavourful. Authentic. Recommending, the fish fry item for appetizer, Daal Ghost with Beef (no bones) or Goat (bone-in) for Entree with a spice level of 3. Chai before or after the meal. And Rasamlai for dessert. Can't go wrong. Courteous Service. Employees and managers were pleasant, polite and professional, most notably the cook who presents the food to the table. Definitely the best Indian food that I've had since moving to Texas. While the storefront does not scream "curb appeal," upon entering the restaurant, the seating area was spacious and walcoming. The variety of flavors was overwhelming, in the best possible way (note: I have had Indian food only 3 other times in my life. So this is a novice perspective). I ordered one of the chef's specials (with meat, as opposed to the vegetarian option) and was stuffed. The sample portions do not seem like a lot, at first.Yet - between the rice and Naan - it is more than enough. Speaking of the Naan, that was my favorite part of the meal. I would come here again - with friends!

Good experience for the two distinctive customer segments (whose gastronomic interests are seldom congruent) this place purports to serve. Balanced menu with fresh preparations which cover the key bases of North Indian cuisine. The lunch buffet stand was always kept loaded (and clean) with attentive supervision. Empty plates at the table are whisked away without request leaving one to enjoy one's food without casting a glance at how many plates have used thus far. The buffet items are mostly standard fare with a nominal twist or two. Well planned "workflow" for the limited space of the buffet queue. Of course only regular diners (not yours truly) can comment on the changes between succeeding days. Not the least bit surprised that there was no seafood being offered because even though fish is cheaper than chicken or mutton (May 2022) these days, the thought to serve a "Pescadores" Item does not enter the minds of management. Although conversations float around the bi-level dining area, the place could not be called noisy. One can dine peacefully if necessary. Seating options based on the size of the group are readily made available.

Lunch buffet came out to just under $13 for one person, had a good selection of fresh foods both with and without meat. Salad area had lots of sauces, I definitely recommend the tamarind chutney to add some sweetness to your plate. Dessert on the day I visited included a rice pudding and gulab jamun. I’ll be back! ***note for those with nut allergies, there are cashews included in some of the buffet items which are NOT marked as such.

This place is the real deal. Authentic Indian food. Service was pretty good. Made me feel like this place is family owned. Every appetizer and dish we tried was either good or delicious. Some notes: if you're entree comes with rice, it'll be enough for like, three people. Order some bread to go with it too. It's amazing with the sauces. If you're not a professional when it comes to spicy foods, then specify you want your's Mild. Or you can go up to Regular. But, I wouldn't suggest you go beyond that.

The buffet is open and what a great choice! The buffet is clean, hot and delicious. We always have good service keeping our plates taken and our drinks full. You can't beat the food and there are plenty of vegetarian choices as well as meat. There is salad as we as I think 8 entrees to choose from. 4 of them are vegetarian and delicious. We eat here at least once a month and should more often.

If you are craving Indian food, let this be your stop. On the weekdays, there is a buffet. The one in Plano has buffet on the weekends where this location does not. I’ve been going to the one in Plano for years but this is my first time to this one. The restaurant is clean and everyone is friendly and attentive. This is at the top of my go-to restaurants.

Remember when they had Mumtaz Mondays? I think the lunch buffet was $5.99...!! That was pre-covid. Lol. Now I think the lunch buffet is around $13.99 (I could be completely off by dollar or two). Food is still the same. What I like about this buffet is the food is always hot. I've heard from Indian friends that the flavors are muted in spice... probably. It may be more "Americanized", but thats fine with me. I rarely see Indian customers at lunch. Maybe it is the Panda Express of Indian food. In any case, solid plate of food for me. Tandoori Wings and Goat Curry are my faves on the buffet.

We walked in at 2:40pm. Most restaurants tend to close out their kitchen and buffet by 2:40. Lady was kind enough to accommodate us and we rushed through the buffet. Food was good. Taste was excellent. Not too spicy. Just perfect. Wish we had more time to relax and enjoy our meal. Staff was patient and friendly. Will definitely come again.

For only $12.95 for the lunch buffet, you can't find another place like this! If you're branching out like me and don't want to drop $15 for a dish, then the lunch buffet is perfect! It has all the popular Indian dishes, from samosas, naan, to tikka masala, paneer, rice, and some desserts. They have vegetarian options as well like egg rolls, salad, and some curries. The place was packed during lunch on a weekday, but I'm not surprised because it's honestly such a good price. I tried all their different curries, along with their naan and rice, and it was filling. They didn't have any drinks available with the buffet, but there were two different desserts. There was some rice pudding and some fried puff in sugar water. The curries were good, and dipping them with some naan makes it a happy meal. I ate two full plates and was stuffed! I do wish they have more options, but with how expensive groceries are now, you can't blame them. It's still a great option to pick if you're hungry and in the area!

5 star for the Monday special buffets price. 4 star for taste and variety. 2 star for trying to get us out of there immediately when we got done eating. But overall, this is somewhere you can go for the buffet once in a while and it'll be worth it.

First off, there are lots of other Indian and Pakistani restaurants in the Dallas, Carrolton, and Plano area to chose from - this one ain't it. So many people saying how they liked the flavor and taste of the food. Did we seriously eat the same thing? I really don't think you guys know how some of these dishes are supposed to taste. Vegetarian samosas were way oversalted. Chicken tikka masala is SO sweet, like SO sweet. Chicken tikka masala is not supposed to be that way, yet so many Indian restaurants make it incredibly sweet. Way too much heavy cream. They mind as well have just dumped a cup of sugar in there too while they made it. Malai kofta was okay - nothing special. Again, It was also sweet with medium spice. Garlic naan had more carrot on it than garlic. On TOP of that, I ordered within 30 minutes of the restaurant opening up in the evening, and I waited over 1 hour and 30 minutes for my order. I went through 3 uber drivers until the last one stuck around and waited about 30 minutes for it, since it was so delayed. I have leftovers and honestly don't even want it. The dishes need work. Also have been coughing ever since eating the food, probably from the oversalted and oversweet dishes.

I went to the weekend buffet, and as soon as I walked in, I noticed there were no Indians, only white people. Right then, I knew the food probably wouldn’t be spicy… and I was right. Everything was super plain. It might be okay if you bring your own spices from home to fix it up, haha. But honestly, I wouldn’t come back, and I wouldn’t recommend it. There also weren’t many vegetarian options. The only thing that was somewhat good was the gulab jamun. The workers were nice, though. But if you’re looking for authentic Indian food, I really wouldn’t recommend this place.
