Being from New York, my friends and I wanted to experience a great pub in a local town. The Feathers really delivered. Located walking distance from train station Rickmansworth, this pub with low ceilings had incredible charm inside and out. Service was excellent and the food amazing.

Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch. I can't fault it. The food ,the atmosphere, the service all really good. I highly recommend this pub. The pie and mash was amazing as were the roast lamb and chicken and the prawns. So good. We will be back. All wait staff were so kind and attentive. Thank you 😊

turned up without booking. Lots of tables to choose from. Staff very friendly and attentive. Sat in the garden. Wasn't very long to wait for food. Which was very tasty. Maybe abit too much onion on partners plate.. highly recommend

Came here last weekend with my family for Sunday lunch which was great, as it was bank holiday. When I walked in there were two staff at the welcome desk and for some reason they just disappeared and left us waiting for a few minutes which I thought was quite bizarre, but oh well. Then again, bizarrely, the lady that showed to our table brought only three menus for five people which she could see in our group. The same thing happened when the dessert menus were handed out, again three menus. The food was lovely, and very generous portions, couldn’t really fault it and we even took some of it home. The banana waffle dessert was lovely, as was the triple chocolate cake. Would recommend and come back, but would just hope they give everyone their own menu without having to ask for extra! Really recommend the frickles too. Was really busy as you can imagine for a bank holiday weekend, but it only added to the atmosphere.

Visited The Feathers for the first time a couple of days ago. I've been hearing amazing things about this place from friends and family members for years but had not managed to visit. It is an absolutely stunning historic pub in the centre of Rickmansworth. There is a lovely beer garden to the rear which was perfect for soaking up the sun. We came in for a few drinks and a snack. I ate the Chicken Liver and Cognac Pate (£7.90) which was absolutely delicious and perfect with a cold drink on a Summer's day. I hope to be back to visit again very soon!

We like to come here for a Sunday Roast or for lunch. It is a cosy place with very tasty food and friendly team. It is walking distance from the town centre. One can site inside, outside or at the bar.

Great little pub with super hospitable staff & comfy, cosy seats inside. All of us were very happy with the food we ordered - and what a selection! Something for everyone, whether fussy or allergic to stuff - highchairs available for little ones, dogs welcome inside too. Delicious food with excellent customer service, and very fairly priced too.

We have had several lunches here and each time we have enjoyed every bit .we went again today for lunch and feel I should post a review ! The pub itself is a good old fashioned pub, warm, welcoming and spotless The food is delicious and good prices. Finally the staff are excellent, very polite and attentive. I would like to mention the manager, she clearly loves her job, she was so friendly and made us laugh! I would not hesitate to recommend this place

Amazing pub! The staff are absolutely lovely and really friendly and helpful. The food and portions are also great and the pub is really nice, the outside seating area is really cute and nicely decorated. The desserts are really nice and the presentation of everything is lovely. I'm not usually a fan of brownies, but I thought I'd give the sundae brownie a try, and it was possibly the best brownie I've ever had! The cauliflower bites are really tasty, too, and I'd recommend getting them as a starter. We didn't get a chance to try the roast but would definitely return again as it sounded lovely!

5 stars not enough for the food or the excellent friendly staff . It does get very busy so advise to book. I had 2 small plate dishes excellent can’t wait to return.

After initially feeling disappointment and concern at being allocated an outside room [we had 2 dogs] with regard to the the cold weather, we were pleasantly surprised by the attention we received by the staff and owner? Abundant food, good service, nice atmosphere, will return in better weather.

Staff were accommodating and friendly with changing our table on short notice. The atmosphere was better outside but we requested to be in away from the very hot sun. Vegan food here is decent for sure and the Yorkshire pudding was a really tasty one! Hard to tell it was plant based. I’d come back to this place if I was in the area.

The place is very cozy and as I can observed the place is very historical. I been greeted by as I enter. I asked if I can sit anywhere. The man behind the bar politely replied if I have a booking, I said no and he told me to find anywhere I can sit, he also mentioned that there's a garden table outside. I asked if I can take a menu with me then I choose to sit on a corner at the restaurant side where a long table was set up but I only needed for one in the corner by the window table, as I look back a waiter was already behind me and offered to moved the long table and split it. I sat and started to choose from the menu. Then a waiter approached to asked my drink order. I didn't have the drink menu with me when I sat down, the waiter started to walk to the bar and tried to get it for me but I already know what I'd like to order. Gin and Tonic served on a proper balloon glass complete with a garnish of dried berries. As I look at their menu, I could say that it's been created carefully and really have a good selections, it is unique dishes specially the mac and cheese and the salad section. I choose the superflat bread salad that made of humus, rocket salad, roasted pepper, courgette, confit tomato, leeks, kale, brown rice, quinoa, broad beans, red onion, balsamic glaze and feta cheese.Sound deliciously healthy right? I added up the smoked salmon and crushed avocado to make it even more healthier. I requested to put the flat bread on the side. This salad is out of this world; all the texture and taste of each ingredients is playing inside my mouth. I truelly enjoyed it. I never had anything closer to the goodness of this kind of salad. I was really full but then I saw a creme brulle cheese cake so I got curious and asked the young waitress about the texture of it because it sound like infused but I was wondering if it's too soft texture of creme brulle or the texture of cheese cake. She then went and asked the kitchen and went back with an answer and said its more of a cheese cake soft texture rather than the brulle but because I love cheesecake I ordered it anyway eventhough I am too full. When it arrived the size is perfect and my palate has been fooled because I can taste it like a creme brulle but then I could taste the texture of a cheesecake. Now I get it; It's a cheese cake that has a taste of creme brulle. Amazing I had the taste of two in one. I would recommend the place, the food and the ambience. The restaurant got slowly busy and there's a large group as well that dine in. Shame that I did not have the chance to try and relax outside their garden table. It would be good but I ran out of time. I went there for an early dinner and to meet somebody who owns a dog but couldn't make it. Yes! the place is pet friendly perhaps by the beer garden, well maybe next time. The service is excellent. Tried to asked if they could charged my phone before I eat my dinner ( worried that it might go flat and I won't be able to call an uber) and got it back when I finished my dinner. Well I could not even mentioned the name of the young lady who served me, she have an excellent customer skills and great hospitality. They truly do what they said... "They will look after you."

Great vibe and buzz to atmosphere in low wooden beam ceiling interior. Staff young and vibrant, delightful in manner and attitude. Was very busy but once served drinks came quickly and obviously stored at perfect temperature as lagers and bitter tasted better than most pubs. Large varied and distinctly different twist on some traditional dishes. There were several of us and all meals were excellent! Desserts were very different with tweaks and interpretations done well. Had several ice creams never seen before and some great unusual waffles!

Such a lovely place to spend an evening celebrating my birthday. The staff were so accommodating when I discovered I had booked for the wrong evening! The food was great ( difficult to choose what to have) and all served piping hot. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Highly recommend.

Great pub in Rickmansworth. Lots of outside heated seating areas and lots of space inside as well. Food service is great - ordered at the table rather than having to queue at the bar. Food was good.

Feathers is honestly one of the best pubs I have ever been to. The food is 10/10 and the vibes are also great. The outdoor seating area is done so nicely and the staff are really friendly too. They go above and beyond - for mothers day they gave a card and flower to any mums in the group which was such a nice touch!

Friendly staff, they had a cancellation and the kind waitress asked if we wanted the table indoors as it was cold outside. Food was also really tasty, especially the lovely dessert.

Christmas eve was packed and very lively, but it was a great atmosphere which was definitely down to our waitress, Sebil. She went above and beyond the call of duty to look after my two elderly parents and a dog.

The covered outdoor area was wonderfully cosy, there was a fire, and heaters and blankets too if needed. Was nervous that the 'outdoor' area would be chilly but it was lovely.

Old atmospheric pub with walled garden in Rickmansworth. Very good food. Smart attentive waiting staff. Although we had a lunch in the garden, the low beamed interior is cosy, with a nice bar and a friendly atmosphere.

Such a lovely old English pub ,the staff are amazing, food fantastic and good value for money .. I have visited the feathers on numerous occasions and tasted various dishes on the menu and can only say they are well worth it in taste and value for money, can not rate this pub enough 10 star

So I really like the feathers pub the food is good and the atmosphere is a vibe but I have an issue with the male manager. Not sure what his name is but to be honest with you he’s quite rude very abrupt and he just never seems to be helpful. And I just want to raise this because the feathers is a really nice pub, but this can be ruined when you have a manager that doesn't care about the customers. Rosie on the other hand is always so helpful and lovely and is always willing to interact with the customers. She always makes us feel welcome :)

Nicest pub in Rickmansworth and great history for the past five hundred years. Cosy inside and old pub atmosphere is very nice with plenty of seating both inside and out. Dog friendly and great menu. On our last visit the bar service was much too slow for how many staff work here, need more staff behind the bar. Sat outside and would have liked to sit in the sun but all the umbrella's are up... would be much better if they weren't out until it actually gets hot... otherwise we will be back on our next walk through Ricky.

Really nicely done pub with good variety of tables outside, friendly staff and good cocktails. The burgers were ok and the loaded fries were yummy. Don't miss out on happy hour (5-7) two cocktails for £12

Came to this pub on a Tuesday evening to celebrate my partners birthday when staying at an airbnb close by. The pub section of the place was bustling and the restaurant section was nicely full. For a Tuesday evening we felt lucky to find this kind of atmosphere in a small town. Even though the restaurant was busy, the service was not lacking. Everyone who served us was lovely. The food was delicious too, i had the chicken parmigiana and my partner the pie of the day. I will say both had a large quantity of fresh rosemary. This wasn’t a huge problem for us as we enjoy the herb but i’m aware quite a few people don’t so could be a good thing to note before ordering. All in all, this is a great gastropub. Hope to be back soon!

Relaxing and warm ambient in a 400 years-old pub. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. The food, served timely, mouthwatering. A great experience for a couple of new joiners.

Absolutely fantastic garden at the back with a nice view of the church, secluded and lots of space. Staff very attentive and super kind. Made sure our dog got a bowl with fresh water ❤️ Service fast. The food ok, very nicely presented but not really well seasoned. Fish and chips very oily and beer battered fish had definitely too much of flour and was felt dense. And probably my fault as I didn’t read menu properly, but I was surprised not to have mashy peas and tartare sauce with the fish. Though coleslow was tasty. Overall good experience, good portions. Toilets small but clean.

Over the past year we’ve been here several times for Sunday lunches while out rambling in the area. The pub has a lovely cosy interior and a nice garden with plenty of shade, so you can always find a suitable spot regardless of the season. The only downside to the outdoor area is the inconsiderate patrons who insist on smoking around the children playing and people eating. Staff are always welcoming and friendly, and while service can be a little on the slow side, that’s generally because they tend to be a bit busy. The food is always good, I always have the vegetarian but roast and my partner always has the beef; accompanying sides are always well done and seasoned properly, as opposed to simply being presented with lifeless boiled wares, as some pubs do. The potatoes, in particular, are very good, with a touch of garlic and herbs, and the Yorkshire puddings are excellent. Puddings are good too, and they have a reasonably decent wine selection. I’m sure we’ll continue to pop in here from time to time when we are in the area!

Really nice venue very polite and welcoming staff food was good, although we were sat outside someone regularly came to check up if we needed anything else , we came on a very cold day so didn't really get the full experience of the outside area I'm sure it would be amazing as the outside area was well kept and very big.

Heard so much about the place so booked to visit. Those with dogs they are allowed only in bar area or outside. Average decor. Pretty crowded might be the sunshine. The lady who served us was amazing and we added tip hence. Panko squid starter was one to try and pie was told was good. Rest all dishes were extremely average.

The waiting staff are amazing here always welcoming and the food is good. A wide range and good price for the area. Unfortunately, it can be a little rowdy when going in for a meal on a Friday night and the slow bar service (on a Friday night) when it is busy is a real let down. Otherwise, a good spot and a lovely pub.

S
Sigrid BJ

It was ok. My big annoyance is with the coffee. It is a cultural difference Aussies and Kiwis generally have proper espresso type coffee at the end of a meal, especially if there is a liqueur with it. To have a filter coffee is a no-no. Sadly that was what happened. It was not anyones fault exactly so I didn't send the coffee back, but it may be helpful if staff are aware of the difference for us Downunder visitors. Apart from that the meal was ok. The atmosphere is great as is the location.

Restaurant Review: The Feathers, Rickmansworth I recently visited The Feathers in Rickmansworth, an English pub with a charming and cosy atmosphere, ideal for enjoying a casual drink. Unfortunately, my most recent dining experience was highly disappointing compared to previous visits. Having dined here on three prior occasions, I had not found it to be as poor as it was this time, which leads me to wonder if there has been a change in management or kitchen staff. I ordered the Sunday lamb roast, which was served with a very small portion of meat — mostly fat — and a Yorkshire pudding that was hard and appeared to have been prepared hours earlier. The roast potatoes were clearly frozen (resembling Aunt Bessie’s) and were unpleasantly hard. For dessert, I ordered the crumble, which arrived lukewarm. After returning it to the kitchen, the replacement was, disappointingly, also lukewarm. The service was equally underwhelming. The staff were rude and abrupt, showing no courtesy or warmth throughout the visit, and not a single smile was offered. While The Feathers remains a cosy and inviting pub for a few drinks, I would not recommend it for dining. The quality of both the food and service fell far below expectations on this occasion.

Food was really low quality and service non existent! First ordered some beef brisket croquettes with naked slaw which came full of mayonnaise and lots of cumin not mentioned on the menu anything but chillies. Sent back and ordered a duck wrap that hardly had any duck inside, lots of spinach and a watered down sauce. Toasted focaccia with olive oil and balsamic was a joke as the oil was definitely a blend not a pure olive oil.I wanted to try the place for a while and they are constantly busy it was a first and last for sure! When mentioned to the waitress that she never came to double check the food as I sent the first one back she only said she was busy and the place was half empty!!!! Just don't bother with the place for food absolutely awful!!!!!
