Attended the Wellington”s re-launch on Saturday and what a night! Fantastic music, brilliant service and a delicious bbq- complements to the chef! I would also like to comment on the bar staff who worked tirelessly to keep drinks flowing,, tables clear and their friendly customer service. Well done to the new management team -Joanna and Matthew
Fantastic experience at The Wellington. The food was absolutely amazing. The menu strikes the perfect balance between comfort and originality. Service was equally impressive: swift, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The ambience added to the overall experience—warm, relaxed, and inviting. A real gem of a place that I’ll definitely be returning to!
🌟 Outstanding Dining Experience! Me and my family recently enjoyed a truly fantastic meal here! The food was delicious and hearty, and the atmosphere was wonderful. I started with the excellent Halloumi starter and followed up with the satisfying Wellington Chicken Burger with amazingly juicey & crispy chips . My mother had the Venison and Mash and absolutely devoured it—she couldn't stop talking about how amazing it was (and she's usually very fussy!). The staff were incredibly friendly, the environment was very clean, and the ambience was lovely. Me and the family enjoyed the garden area, and the games were a huge hit , keeping the little ones thoroughly entertained! A huge thank you to the lovely manager who was so attentive to our needs and allergies. Highly recommend!
A hidden gem in Borehamwood great food, lovely people, and a place with real heart! We visited The Wellington for a family dinner, and it was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. I had the Wellington Burger their famous chicken schnitzel burger with a free-range fried egg on sourdough and a herby burger sauce full of dill. So juicy and flavourful! The chips were perfect too golden and crisp. My sister had the steak, cooked exactly how she likes it perfectly medium rare and my mum (who’s notoriously hard to please!) was over the moon to find venison stew with creamy mash on the menu. She absolutely loved it and said it was cooked beautifully. The kids were thrilled too they even got a little ice-cream treat at the end, which made their night. I also tasted the mac and cheese and Gruyère cheese pie from the table both were delicious and comforting. What truly makes this place special is Joanne, the owner. She’s warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about her food and her guests. The service was brilliant, the atmosphere friendly, and the locals were lovely too it really feels like a proper community pub. The venue is spotless (no pub smell, just great food aromas!), with a gorgeous secret garden and private event room. The menu caters to everyone halal chicken, veggie, and vegan options included. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend supporting Joanne and her team places like this deserve to thrive. 💫
Rhi is an absolute star at the wellington! I went in for Sunday lunch & she was very polite and caring without being overbearing. She asked about allergies & provided excellent service with both food and drinks. The new owners are really putting their stamp on things which is amazing to see. Looking forward to coming back!
Excellent meal at the Wellington with my 3 little ones. Joanna’s always on hand for any queries for any allergies or dietary requirements. We had chicken strips, tater tots, mac and cheese and a dirty burger and the kids enjoyed everything. Looking forward to coming back!
I had food here with my kids the food was amazing & after the new managers took over you can really see a big difference. The pride they have in their business and towards their staff is incredible. I was served by Rhi & Joanna and I couldn't fault a thing. Cant wait to come back.
Kiara was an absolute star behind the bar, sorting out birthday dessert for my Mum after a great Sunday roast. Yorkies with gravy were fab and the chicken was really tender. Thanks for a lovely relaxed lunch.
Am absolute gem of a pub. Staff were so friendly I felt like I'd been going here for years. Really fresh quality food, and massive drink selection. Just all round great pub
We came down here tonight, and had the tasting menu from the new chef, it was absolutely superb , second to none, hospitality from Joanna and her crew was out of this world. Do yourself a favour and get yourself down here this is the “Best pub food not only in Borehamwood, but in the whole area, if not, the world” The whole vibe of the place has changed since Joanna and her team have taken over this lovely old pub.
I wanted to thank Rhi for her amazing customer service today, being on hand to serve us & making sure we had everything we needed....including the constant ice top ups! Amazing member of staff 👌👌👌👌
Popped in here after our car broke down and it was the perfect respite. Good pint, nice BBQ and some surprise carnival tunes. I think it’s just been taken over by someone new and they’ve done a great job. It might not be what you’re looking for but for us, it made an annoying day that much better. So it’s a big thumbs up from me.
Really nice place to have a drink and great vibes, good could be better some of our party did not enjoy the chicken and beef meals, but the bar staff are amazing, Rhi is especially good and if back in the area we would come back again.
Amazing night outstanding customer service from sharlene she made my night with her bubbly energy and her cracking jokes will definitely be recommending to everyone and will definitely be back best pub by far in Borehamwood
Had a lovely Sunday dinner and a few drinks at the wellington, excellent food and service from Anthony and Joanna, we will be returning to our local 🙌🏼
Best place in Borehamwood! Excellent service and wide selection of drinks. In particular, Anthony was fantastic!
This pub isn’t just a place to eat and drink — it’s a place you feel at home. The owners are absolute legends: warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. You can feel the love they put into the place the moment you walk in. The staff are hands-down the best around. Friendly, attentive, full of personality, and they actually care about your experience. Special shout-out to the bar staff — absolute diamonds. Especially sharlene And the food… wow. Simply put, it’s more than amazing. Fresh, full of flavour, beautifully cooked, and honestly the best food in Borehamwood by a mile. Every single visit is a guarantee of quality. This pub has heart, soul, and standards. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re seriously missing out. Once you come, you’ll keep coming back — because there’s nowhere else like it. Five stars isn’t enough. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Really delicious hearty food I had there cheese and potato pie it was amazing really enjoyed it my mother had the venison and mash she devoured it and couldn't stop talking about how fantastic it was! And she's fussy lol staff where incredibly friendly really clean environment and very nice ambience. Myself and my kids loved the garden and the games were a hit with the kidos kept them entertained! Thank you to the lovely manager who was very attentive of our needs and allergies.
Had a after work drink in here this week. Anthony the barman did an incredible job. He ran the bar and food service solo and it was very busy for one person to handle. Anthony provided great customer service and remained unflappable under the circumstances.
I went to watch the Wales Vs Scotland Rugby match and there wasn't enough seating at the screen showing it. So I sat somewhere else and they kindly put the match on for me! Had a nice pint and a great plate of cod, chips and mushy peas. Very friendly and accommodating staff - highly recommended!
Attended for the quiz last night, came joint first - let's call it luck! I've been in a couple of times before and the atmosphere is always great, the staff and lovely and the pub itself is beautiful. Highly recommended.
Nice to have a local pub that's both family friendly and somewhere you can have a pint with friends. Put a lot of effort in to the refurbishment adding a lot of character. Great range of lagers, ales and spirits.
Really nice atmosphere, had lovely food and a great evening. Highly recommend here and an asset to Borehamwood
Nice atmosphere, relaxed and great service no complaints. Food was not available 6pm but it’s Sunday so maybe they finished serving early. Rosita at the bar always lovely and polite.
Great great atmosphere, staff were lovely and cocktails were 😍😍 10/10
Had a wonderful time at The Wellington with my daughters. Food was yummy, ordered the the steak and ale pie with shop and peas, lots of gravy, definitely worth it. I recommend. Girls ordered the chicken snitczel enjoyed, clean plates. Joe was fantastic, friendly, efficient and we felt welcomed. Thank you. We will definitely visit for the Sunday roast.
I have visited The Wellington Pub on a few occasions now as I am new to the area and it has never disappointed. It is well decorated, modern, features an extensive food menu and great choice of drinks. My most recent trip was to the relaunch event as there is now new management. The whole day was great vibes, inclusive of families in the afternoon and a jolly atmosphere in the evening. Matthew and Joanna have done a fantastic job so far and I will definitely continue to visit. Also, a big shout out to Anthony, Charlene and the rest of the team! ✨
I had the pleasure of visiting The Wellington Pub over the weekend for their much-anticipated relaunch — and what a fantastic experience it was! The venue struck the perfect balance, welcoming both younger guests and seniors alike, creating an inclusive and vibrant atmosphere throughout the day. From the moment I arrived, the warm and attentive bar staff made me feel right at home. The food was outstanding — the skin-on chips were incredibly tender and full of flavour, practically melting in the mouth. As for the burgers, they were elevated to another level by that rich, tangy onion relish — absolutely divine! Entertainment was spot on. The professional singer had an impeccable sense of the crowd, choosing the perfect setlist to match the mood. Later in the evening, the DJ brought real energy to the room and had nearly everyone up dancing — a real highlight! All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day and evening. A big well done to the team — I’ll definitely be back. See you soon, Zed x
We recently held a family party at The Wellington in Borehamwood and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff were absolutely fantastic—so helpful, friendly, and accommodating from start to finish. Everything ran smoothly, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It was a really lovely event and we were so well looked after. Highly recommend for any gathering or just a great time out. Thank you to the whole team, and special thanks to Joanna, Jo and Anthony, absolute stars!
Amazing service, fast, friendly and attentive. Delicious food and warm, friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Came to The Wellington last weekend for the relaunch, and I have to say I had a blast! 💃🏾 The vibe, the food, the service. Everything was on point. It’s not my local but I would sure travel to be back there and bring people along! In fact I’ve already arranged to go back for a Sunday Roast! Well done The Wellington Team 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The team at the Wellington were so welcoming. From our first visit a few months ago to tonight for our summer social. 30 of us enjoyed cocktails, burgers and the brilliant music bingo which had us all singing and enjoying ourselves. Thank you Joanna and all your team!
I had a fantastic time at the Wellington. I came in to try some food as I had heard good things about it and I was not disappointed. I had the fish and chips from the lunch deal which was amazing and a good price, so well worth it. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back again!
I was treated to a Mother’s Day lunch by my son and it was wonderful. Nick greeted us with a warm welcome and wished me a happy Mother’s Day. We had the set menu and the choices were great. We all had a prawn cocktail to start and a roast beef with all the trimmings as our main followed by sticky toffee pudding. The food was delicious and the service from the team was fantastic. All in all a wonderful meal and great service with a smile in a lovely ambience. Have no hesitation in recommending.
Great pub!! Lovely owner, great quality food, nice atmosphere. Will deffo go again if in the area!
Went there on a quiet Sunday night. Very nice pub. Don't miss the urinals which are special and unique in a good way.
This was our first visit to the establishment. The young lad who waited on us. Went above and beyond without being intrusive. We all ordered different Sunday roasts plus a kids meal. Which came out first. And a burger. We were all very pleased with our choices. I can't wait to revisit Thank you guys . It was a great start to my birthday
Lovely local. Such friendly staff. Indoor and out area, great selection of drinks and food and dj’s etc so happy I live nearby!
I had a delightful meal with my collegues the staff were lovely and helped us with all our quiries definetly worth visiting again
I recently visited The Wellington in Borehamwood, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Tucked just a couple of minutes' walk from Elstree & Borehamwood Station, it has a warm and welcoming vibe that makes you feel instantly at ease. It's not one of those flashy, modern gastropubs, but that’s part of its charm. The space is cozy and relaxed, featuring a mix of traditional pub décor with a slightly rustic touch. There’s also a lovely outdoor seating area, which is perfect when the weather is nice, especially for Sunday lunch or a casual evening drink. The food exceeded my expectations. I had the Sunday roast, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve had locally—tender roast beef, fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and flavor-packed gravy. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, unlike something preheated from a freezer. The menu offered a great range of classic pub dishes, along with a few nice surprises. My friend ordered the southern fried chicken burger, which came out perfectly crispy and juicy. The portion sizes were just right, and everything was well-seasoned. They also have a decent drinks menu. I enjoyed a cold pint and later tried one of their cocktails (the espresso martini was particularly good). Prices were fair; nothing felt overpriced. Service was genuinely great. The staff were friendly, attentive, and down-to-earth. Our server checked in on us just the right amount, and even as the place started to get busier, they managed everything without rushing us. It felt like they truly cared, which isn’t always the case in busier pubs. Everything was clean, including the toilets—which I believe is a good indicator of how a place is run. The tables were cleared quickly, and the overall space felt well-kept without being overly polished. If you're looking for a relaxed pub with great food and excellent service, The Wellington is definitely worth a visit. It’s not pretentious; it offers good vibes, delicious meals, and a cozy atmosphere. I would happily return—especially for the roast! Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Borehamwood, it’s a solid choice.
Comfortable pub with very friendly and helpful service from Joanna and Cassidy. Decent food and, whilst there was no cask ale available on our visit, a good range of craft ales and other drinks.
Went with my partner prior to Arsenal ladies game. Made a reservation to watch ENG vs IRL football on TV. Great atmosphere. Food was lovely, steak was cooked as per my request medium well done. Pints were also good too. Will be back again.
We chose this pub for a Sunday roast and had a lovely experience overall. First, a quick heads-up: there’s no parking directly at the pub, but the nearest option is a shopping centre car park, just a 5-minute walk away. The highlight of our visit was definitely the friendly service, especially from Jo, who mainly looked after our table. Her attitude, support, and professionalism really stood out and added to the experience. The food was enjoyable, though there’s a bit of room for improvement. For example, the chicken roast was slightly dry and the portion smaller compared to other pubs we’ve visited. The beef roast was tastier however. The atmosphere was calming and had a relaxed, speak-easy vibe, making it a great spot to unwind. Overall, I would recommend this place and would happily return.
Service was excellent and although we had a number of issues with the app the staff really helped out. Now comes the food. The burger had a nice delicate bbq sauce along with red onions and crispy bacon all on a brioche bun. Well put together and I found this value for money and patty was well cooked with a slight charcoal flavour. The fish and chips however seemed to be frozen hand cut chips that tasted dry and the fish had a thick batter so again did not seem fresh. So I would avoid the fish and chips. Outside area does not have a view and it is cold in the shade but I think in the evening with the lights on and heating on this could be a pleasant place to enjoy a few drinks. Now although a good selection of low alcohol drinks only a few options for zero alcohol and no mocktails at all. But the rekorderlig strawberry lime was really nice.
Careful with your bill and if you order chicken. I went there earlier and got some food and drinks. I subscribed to their emails and got a Hugo Spritz on the house, but is good I checked the receipt because after the free Spritz I "accidentally" got charged by Joanna for a drink which I didn't order. And whilst eating the last piece of chicken, luckily I cut it before and saw blood on it, which means it wasn't cooked properly and you risk a bad food poisoning from raw chicken. I also ordered a tea and Joanna served it in a small cup; everyone else working there is offering you a nice teapot but she couldn't be bothered to do it. I asked her about the teapot and refused to serve it in one, although it was readily available in front of her. And the last bit that I dislike is that she talks rude and down to the other people working there, even in front of customers, which is very disrespectful and inappropriate. I really liked the place at the beginning but these silly mistakes and bad customer service from Joanna will keep us away from it and will go elsewhere from now on. Just an add to the below - I wanted to post this earlier but don't know why the photos weren't uploading and then I went abroad. I decided to do it for safety reasons, because chicken should always be fully cooked and that wasn't a dark piece, was a piece with blood on it. And what disappoints me the most is that Joanna served us, although in her reply she's blaming her staff which is disrespectful and unprofessional. Safety always comes 1st so I will spend my money in places where this is a priority.
Awful! We had a group and food came out at different times. Mains were coming out before starters! Someone waited 30 minutes of their main we had all finished! It was absolutely ridiculous and the food was cold! Didn’t send it back cause we would of been there all night! Would not recommend. We couldn’t talk to each other cause they put the football on so loud! Gillian our waitress was so apologetic she was amazing and it wasn’t her fault! But only to be offered a drink as a sorry is not good enough! Awful place
I booked a table for 1:35 pm on Father's Day. I arrived there around 1:35 pm and one of the waitresses was very friendly and immediately sat me at my table. The first thing she said to me was that they were having problems with the employees who had been absent until then. I said that everything was fine. I placed my order for food and drinks and then the nightmare began. I waited until 3:05 pm for lunch. The food was terrible. It had no flavor at all. My daughters didn't eat anything. I was very sad because it was an important day. I only have one good thing to say: the waitress was very friendly.
