Great as always! The food was fantastic and the service really good. The only thing I'd say is that the tables were too close and it felt that they could be more socially distanced! Otherwise the food was delicious!!!

We’ve been coming to Good Earth as a family since the kids were tiny, my daughter says she still loves going as it feels like home and she’s now 25…there’s always been a consistency regarding rhe food and quality of it…yes prices have gone up but hasn’t everywhere? Jessie and Kam are the most welcoming hosts always going above and beyond to make us feel welcome..the whole team are brilliant……

Amazing food. I went in starving and the fantastic smell made me more hungry. Everything after was delicious and worth a visit. We will be coming back.

Great evening.. We went for the £61 each set menu... It kept coming out... So much food... We went home with a big take home bag... Well worth the £300 bill. Definitely recommend...

I visited this restaurant for a friend's birthday and had a lovely time. It was super busy which made it a little cramped inside but that goes to show how amazing the food is! I was a little worried about the prices but split between my friends it was super reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. The staff were super attentive, making sure our glasses were full and they were so friendly. I had such a lovely evening and would definitely go back again!

Honestly blew us away. We were looking for any old restaurant for a quick meal and stumbled across the Good Earth. I've not seen such excellent customer service from ALL the staff at a restaurant before. The way they serve you with such friendliness and speed was amazing. At one point, someone dropped a glass and broke it, and it was incredible to see how quickly everyone sprung into action and fixed the problem immediately. Truly seems like a great work environment where all the staff care truly about the results they produce. And not to mention how tasty the food was. Would give 6 stars if I could!!

Excellent, please don’t be put off by the bad reviews, this is a premium old school institution. This is how Chinese restaurants used to be in the 90s, it’s excellent quality food, delicious, brilliant service. Everything is executed perfectly. Very good meal! You can tell they really take pride in every aspect and tiny detail.

I had heard so much about Good Earth and finally had the chance to go, and I was blown away. Not only was the food absolutely delicious, the attention to detail, care and service from the team made me and my friends feel very comfortable and special. So friendly. The interiors are also so wonderful, it’s a real institution. Recommend it to everyone

Love this place! Staff are great, very authentic Cantonese taste and this is much better than many other restaurants I have tried. The scallops may seem pricey but they are totally worth it for its size and quality. The lobsters are amazing as well, can’t wait to visit again!

Visited this restaurant for my birthday. The food was so good, I only had time to take 1 picture, lol! Although very pricey you can see why when you eat the food. The staff were very helpful with one of our guests who had a nut allergy. Will definitely be going back and can highly recommend this restaurant

A beautifully appointed well established Chinese restaurant located on the outskirts of London in Mill Hill. Parking is a bit of a problem as it is situated on the north bound carriageway of the A41 in essentially a lay-by. Beautifully appointed interior with professional hospitable attentive staff and a comprehensive menu. This is a superior restaurant so you will pay a premium, well worth it in my opinion. Three of us paid £60 each for a medley of various dishes. Thoroughly recommended

Good Earth in Mill Hill is our local and somewhere we visit often — and it has never disappointed. Whether we’re dining in or ordering takeaway, the quality of the food is consistently excellent. On our latest visit, standout dishes included the dragon whisker prawns, crispy smoked chicken, shredded duck, chicken in black bean sauce, and crispy noodles — every dish was full of flavour and cooked perfectly. A special mention goes to Kam, who is always a fantastic host and makes every visit feel welcoming and personal. That level of service really sets this place apart. A reliable favourite with great food and warm hospitality — highly recommended.

It's my favourite Chinese restaurant by far. It's pricey, but you always get what you pay for. I have gone twice with the family, and we love it. The food is simply incredible. We always choose the set menu and then add some extra dishes. I recommend the sizzling dishes and the lamb. Phenomenal and definitely worth going as a special treat or to celebrate a special occasion. I guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face.

Lovely restaurant, delicious food, great service. Owner came to say hello. It seems a popular restaurant so there were lots of diners which made it quite noisy. Overall, ignoring the noise is 5star for me!

Wow - Absolutely stunning Chinese food - we came here for my birthday dinner and it was SENSATIONAL! Everything from the beautiful décor to the incredibly friendly staff and the delicious dishes made my birthday celebration very special. You have to try their Chicken satay, crispy lamb in lettuce and their famous crispy beef - it's all beyond amazing. I've been coming to Good Earth Mill Hill for over 30 years (since I was 5yrs old) and I intend to keep eating here for the next 30yrs - special thanks to my main man Kam the friendliest restaurant manager....in the world. 10/10 best Chinese restaurant in London for me.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant since I was very young, always excited to visit! The owner always recognises my family and some of the old staff do too. Service is incredibly efficient and the staff are very sweet. The food is always always amazing and I genuinely can’t fault them on anything. The prices may be a little expensive but it’s completely worth it and the food is incredibly tasty and the portions are a very good size.

What can I say? This establishment delivers in every category. My family have been customers for over 20 years. Ken and his team are superb hosts and we always feel very well looked after.

We have been coming to the Good Earth for special family occasions for more years than I would like to admit! Their service, ambiance and food is always wonderful. Yesterday they outdid themselves with such amazing service and made a loved one’s birthday extra special with a surprise desert, candle and good wishes. Your team made a special birthday an extra memorable one!! Thank you to your team We look forward to seeing you again soon

Service was excellent. Food was good, but a bot pricey for what you get. I'll come back, but not in a rush to do so.

Great flavours , excellent staff , small portion and steep prices . Overall a great experience only if the portions could be better , the chicken n beef dishes had more onions and capsicum and barely any pieces of the meat . Having said that very authentic flavours . Very noisy over weekends , book online else difficult to get a table

O
Oliver D

It's an attractive restaurant and incredibly popular - packed out on a Thursday evening and near-impossible to book at short notice at weekends. But when it came to the food, I'd expected more. We had the (only) set menu as we hadn't been before, anticipating that it would showcase the chef's talents. Instead, it felt like a re-run of the first Cantonese restaurants I'd frequented in the 1970s. Unimaginative, and not particularly well executed - and relatively expensive. Disappointing.

V
Victoria Wain

The food was absolutely lovely, we went for the set menu which was probably the best for the amount you get and the money you spend. It was fairly pricey but saying that it was probably the best Chinese I've had! The staff weren't too friendly this is the only thing that put me off. Maybe it was due to us being a large group.

A

Lovely Chinese restaurant with good service and a cozy setting. The food is good, we tried several dishes. The bbq ribs were high quality meat albeit a little under flavoured for my taste, however, I doubt most people will have any issues with it. The crispy spicy ribs were right up my alley with the dame high quality meat. The lobster was incredibly good and of course the crispy duck was on point. Samples several other dishes including the chicken in black bean sauce, egg fried rice and all were high quality. If you like strong flavours or spices you can ask the staff for recommendations or extra condiments. I definitely recommend you give it a try if you are in the area and looking for good Chinese food.

Singapore fried noodle was decent but Quite pricey with small portions…. nice setting and friendly and attentive service though

A really nice atmosphere. Busy which is good but we didn't wait long for our food and drinks. Good Chinese food.

M
Matthew Revell-Gordon

The restaurant is nice, clean, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very calm and serene, despite the very busy main road outside the window. Sadly the food was depressingly average. You could get the same quality, but twice the portion at half the price from any half-decent takeaway. Not really worth the price tag in my opinion.

M
Mary Kankam

Ordered my regular takeaway and was very disappointed. Fried rice with vegetables & chicken . Rice not sure if is plain with sparsely any veg. Chicken just ok.Yes i understand the vegetables must be finely chopped to be mixed with rice but one can barely see any at all. Called to let them know, and their response is this how is done meanwhile, is not the first time ordering this food . At least acknowledge & do good on the next order as I was not asking for a refund. This is bad hence had no option but to leave a review My family & friends always eat at this restaurant and my thougts is either a takeaway / eat-in the food must taste & look the same period !

A
AMBER GILLOTT

Very over priced with small portions. The food was standard but I was expecting it to be excellent considering the inflated prices. Chicken noodles were dry and overcooked. Won ton soup was nice but the smallest portion. Staff were friendly and professional. I will not be going back!

We booked this well-known old restaurant for my birthday on Aug 2025. One of the dishes we ordered was deep-fried prawns wrapped in shredded pastry. The first piece was nice, but in the second one I found a black hair wrapped with the pastry. I called a waitress, who took the plate and apologized. A little later, the manager came over, smiling, and said that if the hair had been from their kitchen it would have burned during deep-frying, which I found dismissive. I explained that it wasn’t my hair, as mine is longer and thicker, even the hair was within the shredded pastry that I can't do that!!! and that they shouldn’t suggest it came from anywhere else. Later, to test the manager’s claim, I personally deep-fried two of my own hairs — and nothing happened to them. They remained intact after frying, which shows the manager’s explanation was not accurate. I have uploaded everything here! They eventually took the plate away but did not replace the dish. Instead, they gave us only a 10% discount on the bill, which felt inadequate for both the situation and the manager’s attitude. Overall, my expectations were higher, given the restaurant’s reputation and high prices. However, the food quality was very average and not worth the cost. I left disappointed with both the experience and the service.

We walked in and stood there waiting for a table for about 5mins before anyone even greeted us. Didn’t take to fond of that and should have walked out then. Quaint little place but a bit over priced. Meals were about £16 and were small sized.

N
Nicole Kyne

Underwhelmed, the food was okay/average but unfortunately came out lukewarm. The service was very attentive and the food came out within minutes of ordering which was good and bad. Good for not having to wait but bad knowing that it wasn’t freshly prepared. The portion sizes were VERY small, we left the restaurant still feeling hungry and for the price I could have ordered 2-3 lots of each dish at a different restaurant. The atmosphere was unpleasant, the restaurant was very very hot, probably because of the amount of people they have squeezed into a small space. I wouldn’t recommend unless you’ve won the lottery and don’t mind lukewarm food and being extremely close to strangers.

S
Siddhartha Srivastava

The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is nice and the decor is welcoming. They have nice collection of drinks too. Nice cutlery and food presentation. The reason why I have given an overall rating of 2 is to balance out what's MOST important when we think about a restaurant. It is the taste of food and the price you pay for it. The average price is about £40 per person but if you compare to other places like Hutong at the Shard which is about £50 per person, this is no comparison at all. The food is just about at par with any decent high street Chinese restaurant while the prices are bloated. The high price tag is also sometimes used to indicate a "class" - but FOOD is a MUST :) I tried both Chicken and Veg soups - and they were below average taste. Tried fried Prawns which were just about okay. The Sichuan prawns were too sweet and the chicken dumplings were below par. Noodles and rice were okay too and sorry to say but nothing great about them. If this place is close to your house and if you don't mind paying a little more for an average food, then you can still visit this. It is not BAD in any sense. Just the price is not justified. Hope this review helps !

I have been going to the Good Earth for 20 years, my family have been going since it opened. Over the last couple of years the prices have crept up (imo far higher than average prices are rising) but we’ve still enjoyed going. For the first time this weekend I left wishing I hadn’t gone. Nearly £300 for 4 people. Admittedly 4 courses and drinks but over £50 a head is madness in itself, but teamed with average food and awful service is much worse. Plates cleared before everyone is finished, hot towels placed on the table at the same time as food - making us feel like we needed to hurry and their purpose (HOT towels) being redundant after going cold, plates and baskets slammed onto the table. These are things I feel I shouldn’t be having to complain about at £75 a head. There are many other bits I could mention but this would become an essay. We are massively disappointed and I personally won’t be going back and spending my own money. I understand prices have risen, they may be trying to cover more tables, and they may be more under pressure but they’re losing lifelong customers.

Went with a friend and ex-colleague. Was bitterly disappointed from the minute we walked in being frowned at for not booking in advance (we went at 630 to avoid any busy times for that exact reason) We were reluctantly given a table as long as we left after an hour. Very welcoming, not! My colleague and I are both vegetarian. We asked about the vege and vegan food options and were told to check that section on the menu. It was all very confusing so we asked again. The waiter either didn't understand us or did not want to, he just kept saying it was OK. Eventually we realised the chicken on the vege menu was mock chicken but then we discovered that it's pretty much all cooked together. Our non vegetarian friend had a chicken soup and I asked about the vegan version which I was told was the same soup without the chicken. They could neither confirm nor deny that the soup simply didn't have chicken in it or if it was separate altogether. We then asked about some other vege dishes and I alerted them to the fact that I'm allergic to shell fish so there must not be any cross contamination. They then said they couldn't guarantee that. So they couldn't guarantee the vege meals were vege or not prepared with or alongside meat, fish or shellfish, and they couldn't promise the allergy needs would be met. We decided to not order anything. Our non-vege friend and her friend did. The waiting staff were impossible to engage and it really wasnt busy. When they did come, they were fairly abrupt. She said her food was nice but the portion sizes were tiny and it cost her £45 for a shared starter, one main and a glass of wine, plus service which she said didn't improve. To make things worse the owner seemed to treat others coming in very differently. We left her and her friend to it but they were really disappointed, as were we. FYI We went down the road to Baw instead, and had a beautiful and filling meal for half the price, served with a smile and full recipe disclosure!

From the second we stepped in, we were met with complete chaos. No one greeted us, and after awkwardly waiting near the entrance for almost ten minutes, we had to ask if we could be seated. The server barely acknowledged us and seemed more interested in their phone than actually doing their job. We ordered a few standard dishes, hoping for at least a decent meal. Unfortunately, everything we got was lukewarm, bland, and had the texture of something microwaved from frozen. My dish arrived with a piece of plastic in it…yes, plastic. When I pointed it out, the waiter just shrugged and said, “It happens sometimes.” No apology, no replacement, just indifference. What really pushed things over the edge, though, was the open shouting match between two staff members happening in full view of customers. They were yelling and swearing at each other near the kitchen while everyone in the restaurant just sat there awkwardly. Completely unprofessional and made the atmosphere incredibly uncomfortable. This place is a disaster on every level terrible food, nonexistent service, and a complete lack of basic standards. I left feeling frustrated and a little grossed out. Avoid at all costs unless you want an evening of disappointment.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this place was so shockingly bad I feel compelled to warn others. From the moment we walked in, the service was awful. Staff were inattentive and dismissive, and we were left waiting far too long for cold, tasteless food that clearly hadn’t been freshly made. No flavor, no care – just greasy, bland dishes that didn’t reflect any pride in cooking. The worst part, however, was when I took my children (ages 6 and 7) to the restroom and saw rats running around. Actual rats. I was horrified and immediately raised this with the manager, Kam, and his colleague, Jessie. Instead of being apologetic or concerned, they were extremely rude, dismissive, and even swore in front of my kids. Completely unacceptable behavior from anyone in the service industry. This place is not only a health hazard, but the staff clearly don’t care about their customers, food quality, or basic decency. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. It needs a full health inspection and serious management changes.

M
Max

One of the worst places I have ever eaten at I honestly wish I had turned around and left the moment we walked in. The atmosphere was off right away. No one greeted us, the staff looked bored, and we felt like we were being ignored more than served. When the food arrived, it was cold and dripping with grease. There was no seasoning, no effort, just something slapped on a plate that tasted like it had been reheated from the day before. It felt like nobody in that kitchen cared about what they were putting out. What shocked me the most was what happened when I took my two young children to the toilet. I was absolutely horrified to find rats running around. I still cannot believe what I saw. I reported it straight away and the response from the staff was appalling. No apology. No concern. Just attitude. One of them even swore in front of my kids. This place should not be open to the public. It is dirty, the staff are rude, and the food is completely unacceptable. I would never go back and I would not recommend it to anyone.

D
Dean Gilbert

Overated and over priced. We eat at a lot of different Chinese restaurants, based on the pricing and reviews I expected something special. Totally disappointed, local takeaways sell the same standard food for half the price.

M
Matt

Overrated and over priced! The food is bang average at best, nothing great about it at all and to be charged £250 for a group of 3 who only had 3 small beers and 3 coke zero’s with their meal is crazy! We had probably the same portion size in total, as 2 people would have and it still costs that much? To make it worse, one of the battered chicken starters came bloody and most of the other pieces were pink and the manager came over and said ‘I hold my hands up, that wasn’t cooked properly’ Did they even bother taking the charge for that starter off the bill? Of course they didn’t, I had to tell them I wouldn’t be paying for that. I can’t fault the overall service or the atmosphere but I can honestly say a Chinese takeaway tastes 10 times better than this did, at a quarter of the price One restaurant I definitely wouldn’t recommend going to, especially at £80+ a head

b
bency babu

Very bad, congested place. Food tasted very bad. I lived in China for about 6 years and when I taste such disguising food from a reputed restaurant, it feels so bad. Chowmein had burned noodles. And the bill was too expensive. We were too hungry . So had no other option but to eat.

M
Mary McDonald

Nice enough people but felt very rushed. Spent around £180 for 4 people. A soup each and a main each + 3 cokes and a beer. Food was dire especially for the price, portions appalling. Bland and rather tasteless, had to ask for salt which is unusual for Chinese food as normally it is full of flavour. Wouldn't recommend, wouldn't return.

R
Radha Sidhu

The service from JESSI AND KAM was absolutely unacceptable. They ruined our entire mean with their bad attitude and lack of knowledge about the law. The food was basic and almost matched Jessie’s attitude.

H
Henal Madhvani

Jessie and kam are very rude ! Highly not acceptable, please avoid this place, the food is sub standard and for the money there are significantly better places, worst chinese food, I’ve had, even a takeaway has higher standards.

m
maggie molloy

Not a great experience Had to eat early as later tables all booked It was like eating in a nursery Very loud and lots of crying children Food very greasy vegetables undercooked and all food very bland We will not be returning Just read review about rats in the toilets goodbye !
