Very affordable prices for some of the best Indian food I've gotten in a restaurant. I had some dal and rice and some garlic naan, both were really flavorful and satisfying, and had the perfect spice level (they let you select). Also, the staff was very pleasant and they accepted special requests.

I tried this place again. And much closer than my other favorite and starting to think it's better here. For one the food is also great. The chicken mahani might even be better. Chicken very tender. Their Nan is thinner and edges a bit crispy on edges. Not doughy. Dal is nice and spicy an great basmati rice. Tried a bit of most everything. Delicious. And never crowded tables nice distance and very clean. And polite. Very fresh fruit and vegetables. Wonder if they ever have curried goat or lamb on buffet one of my favorites

My dad and I truly enjoy the lunch buffet. They offer an array of choices that cater to both of us. Im a vegetarian and he likes veggies and meat/ poultry. We always have lovely experiences here. From the friendly owners, pleasant decor and music, delicious food, and fair price, we are very satisfied! We highly recommend this restaurant for a culturally enriching experience. We thank you very much for all of the staff's hard work. :-)

This was one of the best Indian restuarants I have been to. The flavors were perfect, portions excellent and the value was really high. They had a buffet avaialble to which was clean, hygenic and had a lot of choices. The servers were really nice and worked hard. The place was very clean too. I wish I lived here, I’d be here regularly.

Coming into this restaurant with high expectations for the food, a 5 star review would not be easy to achieve . Sitting down with our party of 5, we were immediately greeted by a beautiful taj mahal background behind us. The server took some time to arrive and bring our food, however the fresh, buttery naan and the fresh spicy curries made up for all of that. The food was delicious and we couldn’t resist cleaning up our plates with the remaining naan. Highly recommended.

Royal of India is my favorite place to get authentic Indian food, especially as a college student who misses home cooking. The food is always consistent (delivery and dine-in) and the workers are always so kind. Their naan is always soft and heavenly and the food is incredibly fresh with every order. 10/10 recommend!!

The man who took care of us, that was working on Monday June 10 right before closing, was the best server we’ve ever had at an Indian restaurant... anywhere. The food was also outstanding! The value was great too. Definitely go there, great find. 10 stars

My wife is VERY picky with the food. I was bit worried as I brought the food home. I'm so relieved that she loves this food (Paneer Makahani). She is a mild vegan. She would order again in the future. If you like to eat chicken, I highly recommend to try Royal Mix Grill. They all are worth the price. I'm looking to eat buffet in one day.

We love coming to Royal of India for their buffet. We love the ease of the open, light-filled dining room, and abundant buffet. The food is always yummy and the staff is very friendly. My family also follows a GF diet, and this is the only Indian buffet that we've been to that clearly labels the dishes for GF.

The food was incredible on a Wed night buffet 18.00. there is a lunch buffet every day. I am vegetarian and there were lots of options for me. Loved it!

It was my first time trying their lunch buffet and that was a great experience/ food was so indianly authentic and so many vegetarian options including, rice, dal makhni, chana masala, malai kofta, paneer kadhai, mix veg and what not! I loved the samosas and they even have deserts like kheer and ice cream too. worth the price, will go back fr. The ambience is amazing with indian songs in bg.

The food was exceptionally good, as for the the food I ate that caught my mind was the meat Sekwa, great hospitality, and dining, it gives me a good feeling when the food is good, I would say this is one of the best restaurants to give it a try if your looking for a good place to eat.

K

The restaurant exceeded my expectations with its vibrant flavors and authentic dishes. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, while the naan was perfectly soft and fresh. Excellent service and a warm ambiance made the experience unforgettable!

I like spicy foods and was very happy with the food here. My tendency is to order too much, so I can bring food home, and that's what happened. I had chicken momo as an appetizer. Spicy, delicious dumplings in a fantastic sauce. Also Chana Masala (which I took home), which tasted moderately spicy (though ordered mild). Delicious. Also, Royal Special Mix Grill (a sampler platter with salmon, lamb, chicken, a bed of vegetables - all beautifully arranged). Dinner came with plentiful, delicious rice and naan (our group ordered garlic naan). The waiters and waitress were very attentive and friendly, and willing to explain foods unfamiliar to us. Service was quick. The environment was relaxed and quiet. I like my food very spicy (and requested that). The food was somewhat spicy and, nonetheless, delicious. One member of the group wanted extremely mild spice - she felt the Chana Masala was to spicy for her. It ranked low to medium on my spiciness scale. Prices were very reasonable. They serve alcohol (we had Flying Horse beer, a 22 oz., pale, delicious lager). I would heartily recommend Royal of India. The menu is extensive with something for omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans. I'm going back!

Best place in Rochester for Indian food. Have been coming here for years and they never disappoint. The food is always fresh and delicious. The owner is great and remembers just what I want and the spice level I want it at. Great people great food great atmosphere.

The absolute best Indian restaurant in the Rochester Area. I would, and have driven over an hour to eat at this place with friends. The food is priced really well, and the food in phenomenal. I've had bad service maybe one night when they were exceptionally busy, but I do not hold that against them. I got the Chicken Curry Hot, and it was some of the best food I have ever tasted.

Amazing and my uncle owns the restaurant so it makes it even better.the food is amazing and delicious it’s like music in my ears.if you don’t like it try again if you still don’t like it then try it again and if u STILL don’t like it……u have mental issues.Go right now and try it out servers are nice and fast, food comes out less than 10-20 minutes, food is amazing and a lot of flavor.Chicken dumplings is my favorite and Chicken chowmien, when I walk in the shop it smells so good makes me what to go more!

Wow! What a great restaurant to enjoy a meal! All you can eat buffet of delicious Indian food! Don't miss out on the Chai! Special props to Nobin for singlehandedly dominating service in the front end! Alhamdulillah it was a great evening!

Great buffet. Highly recommend the chicken 65 off the menu if buffet isn't being served. Always great service and very rarely do I wait to be seated. I've learned if something isn't on the menu, you can ask for it and they'll accommodate as the cook is talented. I bring my vegan friends and coworkers here and they've always left happy too.

I just called because I noticed my favorite dish was no longer on the menu. While I do not recommend ever expecting a restaurant to be able to make something off menu, and I would never get upset if they weren’t able to, I was really craving it so I thought I would call and ask. All I said was that I don’t see it on the menu anymore and before I could even ask them if they could still make it they told me to order a different dish and just put it in the notes!! They seemed happy even that I asked. In a greedy effort to get it back in the menu the dish is Hiriyali paneer it’s creamy and delish and you have to add their homemade pickle!!! So good. I have been craving this for months and haven’t had the guts to ask, I’m glad I finally did and a huge thank you to royal of India for absolutely making my day! One of my other fav dishes is lamb korma! Still available lol

Tried their Weds Dinner Buffet. Everything was fresh and there was a good variety of dishes. I appreciate that each dish was labeled, including information for vegan and gluten. Service was attentive. I would have liked a dish or two with a bit more heat (spice, not temperature). It may well have been the best Indian food I've had in the Rochester area. I look forward to going back and ordering some hotter dishes from the menu.

Uniquely delicious. Great dinner buffet, too. I think the only Indian restaurant on a Wednesday.

We stopped here on our way back from Niagara. The buffet was very well rounded . Plenty of veg and non vegetarian options, juice, hot tea, sweets. And the food tastes good and fresh. Kids will love the ice cream section. Also they didn’t charge for my small kid. So overall a very positive experience.

T

Great food, great service and great price. My friends and I go every Wednesday for their dinner buffet. Alot of vegetarian options. Not too spicy. Never in the past year we had a bad experience. Few suggestions: Add a few more meat items (like beef or goat) to the dinner buffet. Bring out the delicious momos to the dinner buffet. Make the naan bread a little less oily. Other than these little downfalls, I would say everything is just perfect especially for the price. I love the place, recommend Royal of India to anyone who is looking to try out Indian cuisine.

Went in for an anniversary dinner and couldn't be happier with the experience. Exceptionally fast and exceptionally good; of special note are the palak paneer (best I've ever had bar none) and the chilli sauce momos (truly exceptional balance of flavor). As someone who goes out of my way to try new Indian restaurants in town, I can't recommend Royal of India highly enough.

Food was great, service was nice, and I loved the music playing. I'm not Indian so I can't say how authentic it is, but I loved the food here. Love the spice and the different tastes. If you're looking to change things up definitely check this place out.

The absolute best Indian cuisine in the Rochester New York area. The food here never disappoints, and I leave here satisfied and full each time I visit. The Chicken Tika Masala is the best I have eaten, and the Chicken Makhani is absolutely terrific. I highly reccomend visiting during thier buffet, as the price is very reasonable, and the food never disappoints. Families and groups can eat a filling lunch without breaking the bank. I have also eaten the food as takeout, and can confirm there is no drop in the quality or portion size. All around, this is one of my favorite restaurants in Rochester.

This was absolutely delicious! We got aloo palak, lamb saag, chicken makhani, and samosas. All of them had so much flavor and we'll definitely be back. We also loved the crispy papadan and tamarind sauce. The mango custard was creamy but not too sweet and a good way to end the meal.

This place is absolutely outstanding. From the food to the service, everything was excellent. My family and I came here for dinner, we ordered the chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, chicken makhani, bread basket, and a few appetizers. The flavors are unique, colorful, and powerful. You can taste the passion for this cuisine in the carefully crafted and fresh flavors in each dish. This place is a must, what a hidden gem. **Try the mango smoothie too!

Delicious meal! My sister, mother, niece and I stopped in for a meal last weekend. My mother had never had Indian food before and she was so happy to find she really enjoyed it. To top it off, a staff member came out to ask us how our meal was, which I think is always charming, and gave my niece a ring pop! Adorable! She was so excited. We will absolutely be back next time we’re in the area.

Wow! This mango lassi is amazing—I love it! I've tried lassi from almost all the indian cuisine in Rochester but the taste and originality of this one is simply unbelievable. Wow, not a word to speak. I literally have started going to Royal of India every day just to have lassi. I highly suggest you try it to realize just how tasty it is. Besides the incredible lassi, the food and service they provide are also very awesome.

A friend and I visited this Indian/ Nepalese restaurant on a thursday at 6:30pm for dinner for our first time. The dining area was clean and our waiter was kind and attentive. I ordered the Non Vegetarian Combo with Garlic Naan. It was delicious. I liked the combo meal because it offered a sampling of a few entrees that are on the menu. My friend ordered the Vegetarian Combo and she said it was delicious. The restaurant is located within the R.I.T Rochester Institute of Technology Park Point Complex. I recommend!

I recently dined here and was absolutely blown away by my experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. The food was simply delicious - perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor honestly the best Indian-Nepali food I ever had. The atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable meal with family and friends , and the attention to detail was top-notch. Not to mention, the prices were very reasonable for such high-quality cuisine. Cannot wait to be back again.

We had the most amazing dinner out for my birthday here. We have been to every Indian Restaurant we know of in Rochester, and we will definitely return here. Nobin, the host/server, was so friendly and even took time to chat when I asked about the restaurant’s history. He made great recommendations as well! I cannot recommend the mango pudding enough!!!! Was the perfect finisher. The garlic naan was wonderful and had the delightful crispy edges, perfect for dipping. We got Kashmiri and Makhani and both were delicious 🤤. Found out they have a robust buffet Wednesday nights as well as most afternoons. What a great birthday find! Thanks, Nobin!!

My husband and I dined there on Saturday. The host, Rishka was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the food. The Samosas, though a bit spicy for me were the best I have ever had. This was my first time dining in at Royal of India, and it was overall a very wonderful experience! My boyfriend and I went for dinner and the atmosphere was very beautiful, they have a wonderful dining area and it’s obvious they put lots of time into making sure the tables were set. We were greeted immediately by a very kind gentleman who also served our meals and we waited no time to be sat. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and my boyfriend ordered lamb biryani as our main courses and the fish pakora, paneer pakora, and vegetable samosas as appetizers. The food was beyond delicious and came out in a very timely manner! I would also like to add that the gentleman who served us did a wonderful job at checking on us and making sure our drinks were filled. We were so pleased we made plans to come back and try out their buffet! Definitely a nice dining experience!

Where have you been all my life? Tried the Wednesday night buffet last night and I am now ruined from going to any other Indian buffets in Rochester. BEST BUFFET in the area, hands down! First we were blown away by the quality of the food...clearly homemade, well prepared, and a bit of a different variety of options than I've had elsewhere. The roasted veggies had the most amazing marinade and were carmelized to perfection. Everything on the buffet was fresh tasting...not rubbery or dried out as if it had been sitting under heat lamps for hours. The atmosphere is so peaceful and tranquil...very nice murals on the wall that really transport you! Even the desserts were amazing...the rice pudding had the best flavors, and the ice creams were traditional chocoloate, vanilla, mint chocolate chip and cookie dough, which I prefer over the flavors typically found at Indian buffets. When we went to pay, we figured the price would be more than what we paid elsewhere based on the location and quality. We shocked when we learned it was $17.99 per person. I almost didn't want to write this review so as to keep this a best kept secret, but I'm sure when college is in session, this buffet is buzzing!

An absolute gem of a find! My experience at The Royal India restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. Despite arriving just 15 minutes before closing time, the staff graciously extended their hospitality by keeping the kitchen open for an additional hour to accommodate us. The warmth and dedication displayed by the team truly elevated our dining experience. From the delicious food to the impeccable service, every aspect surpassed our expectations. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking not only incredible Indian cuisine but also unparalleled hospitality. A definite 5-star experience!"

If you get very hungry and wanna eat lots of varieties of indian food, this might be one of the places. We took a buffet for lunch, and it was worth 16$. There were lots of varieties for both veg and non veg. Especially I liked cute samosas, chutney for them were also well balanced and tasty, bread pakora and mango juice was yum too! Of course, you can't expect authentic Indian spicy levels here, but it was not so blonde as well. It was tasty food overall for a nice lunch.

The search for good Indian food in Rochester was frustrating and almost futile. However, this place was a pleasant surprise. Tucked away in an unassuming venue, this place offers authentic Indian food for a very reasonable price. The dishes were delicious and flavorful, the portion size was so generous and the service was commendable. I highly recommend their sizzling platter.

Excellent food and ambiance. For the price serving is very generous. One thali is enough for 2 people. We didn't have an idea so we ended up ordering foor for 4 people intead of 2 🤣. We love spicy food and we have asked to make it hot 🔥 and it was hot spicy and tasty unlike most indian restaurants where the food is bland. Thali - best thing was palak paneer and chicken makhani. Channay were ok and tikka was burnt. Tandoori platter - loved the malai boti, kabab, shrimps with sauteed vegetables.

I may be jumping the gun a little given I have only visited once then wrote about it. I believe it’s worth noting that Royal of India is a great establishment. I was excited to find this location (at the RIT Park Point) because it is so easy to get to. What really blow my mind was 3-Fold. One: the price. 100% fair. Two: the quality of their food. So tasty, Three: the quantity. For the life of me I could not finish it all in one sitting! 😂 Worth at min one visit, a great value!!!

The food is very tasty and has different levels of spice, and I love how they have clearly labelled vegan options. However, it would be nice if they asked before automatically serving you naan since it isn't vegan

This is one of the best Indian buffets we have eaten at. The only reason I gave it 4 Instead of 5 stars is because I prefer the food a bit hotter. The waiter was very friendly and personable. Even though we were there at the end of the buffet time, he made sure we had everything we wanted .before they cleaned up for the evening.

The food is hot and excellent The chi tasted good, but my stomach did not like it. I would give it a 5. I did not enjoy my ice cream when we noticed a little kid grabbed a spoon off his table that has been eating with and scoped some ice cream. They should put a sign in there that parents requires to scope ice cream by a certain age.

I went to this restaurant for a weekday lunch buffet. It was not crowded, and the food was okay. There was only one server/ receptionist, who was friendly but didn’t ask of we wanted anything to drink or if we needed more naan, which they bring to the table. The buffet was fine but not exceptional. For dessert, they offered ice cream and rice pudding. The atmosphere was nice overall. It was an okay experience.

I went to this restaurant on Wednesday buffet, and the place was cozy. The waiters were nice, but the food was OK. To me, it is very average. Not much of flavors as I would like. I will try again for full menu dinner to see if there is any different than last time.

Dropped in to try the place. Ordered Chicken Momo and Chicken Kashmiri with the Kashmiri at a medium spicy level. Tried these two dishes because I never saw them before at an Indian restaurant. The Chicken Kashmiri had a delicious flavor but the spicy level was not enough. The Chicken Momo tasted like a Chinese dumpling. The service was slow.

Also, naan was kind of dry too. This place has indoor and outdoor seating, however indoor seating lights were dim. The service was good as they didn't charge gratuity beforehand.

I should have known price was too good to be true. Naan was good, passable. Tough to mess that up. Rice was yellow like Chinese fried rice 🤮 ... Chicken Tikka was borderline, tasted alright but wasn't anything special. The Chicken Vindaloo was probably the worst curry I ever had. It was gritty like there was dirt in it and the flavor was just bad. I'm mostly leaving this review for myself so I remember not to order from this place in the future but others should take heed to just pay a few bucks more somewhere else. I think maybe their dine in food may be better or else all the positive reviews are paid, because they don't describe the food we got.

We went for a Sunday lunch buffet. Every single food was below average. The rice was undercooked, tandoori chicken was cold and dry, ice cream was poor, the juice was just sugar water, I can keep going. There are other better Indian restaurants nearby.

Kitchen was closed last week (and recent Democrat and Chronicle article reports there were health department violations). This closure was not reported online and so we thought the restaurant was open, placed an order, they accepted the order via their website, and then obviously we showed up to find they were closed. I guess thank goodness they were not open given health dept issues? But regardless, we had to contact our credit card company for a chargeback. Poor service to not close their online ordering system during their closure. I won’t comment further on the health dept violations but that’s also obviously concerning.

Helpful and friendly wait staff and one of the few Indian buffets open on a Sunday. That said, if bland, hospitable style food is your thing, this is your place, most likely trying to accommodate the American taste buds. Not likely to return.

No taste of India's food. The Morton was horrible. The Naan were hard. Every item is sweet. Paneer is rubbery. Everything is too tasteless, how it can be!!

This is one of the worst indian food i have eaten here in the US. Food was not cooked properly, the breads had cold butter smeared on them. The food we receive had no resemblance to what was on the menu and the staff were unprofessional and probably as clueless as the chef.

This restaurant has the worst Indian food I’ve ever had in the US. It is a cheap, poor quality joint masquerading as an Indian restaurant and is an absolute disgrace. The Gobi Manchurian we ordered was soggy and drenched in tomato puree. A korma that was ordered had raw-smelling onion puree and barely had any flavor. These were accompanied with stale rice that was colored with turmeric to mask the poor quality and cold Naan that was smeared with butter that had barely melted. The staff were as untrained and unprofessional as the chef too.

I get that a lot of places are understaffed but asked for my glass of wine twice and after 40 minutes our waiter still wouldn't bring it. He missed half of the items we ordered and didn't apologize. We were running out of time so asked for boxes to just take our food to go and as we were boxing everything up(5 minutes or less) he came over twice to see if we had paid yet and made us feel even more unwelcome. We are not the type to complain and tried to be understanding but the way we were treated was very unpleasant. Overall would not recommend.

We ordered just the chicken momos and they tasted so bad. On top of this, they ran out of the momo chutney. The hot chutney they had tasted bad as well. When I asked them about the momo chutney, they said that it takes a lot of time to make the chutney and they can’t help it.

Second time ordering from here. It was truly inedible we suspect the chicken was super old. It’s a shame because the sauce and naan are great but they shouldn’t send out chicken like this.

The dish they serve named "Byriani" is not real byriani. They don't serve any authentic Indian food. They put carrots, broccoli, green beans and lots of other stuff in their "byriani" and it's neither byriani nor fried rice. The people who say "The food is good' are non Indian people who have no idea what Indian food tastes like. The person who served us was not friendly. I would not recommend this place if you know the real Indian food and the meaning of the word "Byriani"
