Our family often goes to Tsingtao Restaurant whenever we’re craving Chinese food, and it truly feels like a second home to us. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming — she greets us like we’re hometown friends every time we walk in. She’s especially wonderful with our kids. She plays with them, makes little braids for them, and always takes time to talk and laugh with them. It’s rare to find that kind of genuine warmth in a restaurant owner these days. The food is very delicious and full of flavor. It does lean on the oily side, but that’s part of what makes it so rich and satisfying. If you’re not sure what to order, just ask her — she’s always happy to recommend dishes or tell you about the day’s specials. Our signature favorites are the clay pot rice, tofu seafood stew, sour mustard intestines, long hot pepper beef, knife clams, and the scallion fish. Every time we order these, they never disappoint. If you’re looking for authentic, comforting Chinese food served with real hospitality, this is the place.
The taste of the food and size of the portions were excellent. The servers were very pleasant and accommodating which can be a rarity these days. They were very busy but finished every interaction with a smile. The only downside was that there was a limited number of servers so the service was on the slow side, although once we did place our orders, the food came out quickly. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. I highly recommend it.
We did take out and everything we ordered was hot and delicious. It was also ready right as promised. I would 100% go here again either to eat in our take out. My favorite is the walnut Shrimp but we also got the lo mein, beef with broccoli and general tso chicken. All excellent with good sized portions.
great find! The Cucumber Chili and Szechuan Mei Fun were so tasty. Spicy but balanced, fresh. Definitely will order again.
Casual, friendly, and excellent food. I had the cold chilli chicken appetizer and it was very nice, followed by the cumin lamb, which was spectacular; I had to force myself to stop eating so that I didn't pass out at work from a food coma. I'll be trying just about everything else on the menu over the next few months, amd bringing friends.
Found this shop by chance and very happy that we tried it. Excellent cooking at very reasonable price. Very yummy Chinese food in a nice, bright and clean setting. This is a great addition to Asian food choices in Rochester area👍 Definitely will return as a must-go destination. Will order to-go too to share with others at home 🤩
Excell food. Had beef roll, Crispy Pork chops, w Taiwan style pork belly over rice and Curry beef brisk hot pot. All was excellent, the brisk was very tender. Service is a little slow as it appears to be family run and, the place was packed on a Monday and only cashier takes orders while a second person serves. But it was more than worth the wait.
First time here and we was just visiting for work from boston and the food here is the best I’ve ever had. Everything was fresh and had plenty of flavor. My favorite was the shrimp wonton soup best broth hands down we got about 7 different things and all of it was authentic to its flavors will come here any time im in town for sure
We went for Father’s Day. We were the only people sitting in the restaurant but the service was great. They were very attentive and engaged our 5 year old. We ordered the shrimp dumpling with hot chili oil and should have gotten two. We also got the scallion pancakes, Singapore mei fun and chicken and broccoli. Everything was huge portions and came our super hot and fast. The chicken and broccoli did not come with white rice. They also gave us room temperature water which I enjoyed (I don’t like cold water). We will def be back! I can’t wait to try more things and get the dumplings again.
After readying all the negative comments I was pretty skeptical about how service will be as all the negative reviews mentioned food was 10/10 but service sucked but I must say, I experience no racism no rush out vibes whatsoever. The one waitress handled all pickup and dine in orders and did it very effortlessly. So if service is your concern, do not hesitate and just give it a go. Now nothing really to mention about food, it was phenomenal. Very authentic to Sichuan style cuisine. We had Sichuan Chicken Feet - if you're weirded out don't be and just give it a chance trust me it's absolutely delicious. Also the boiled Sichuan fish is my favorite, we had a few other dishes but I'd be fine with eating just the boiled fish soup as my only dish (you eat it with rice not really a soup but soupy in texture). The other two dishes we got was egg plant garlic sauce, and beef brisket hotpot both very different flavor profile and yummy as well. Lastly, I've eaten a lot of Sichuan food, not being a local, so I definitely rate this as a top, hidden gem for sure. Not sure why rating numbers is so low, so if you're looking for places to eat and come across this review, look no further and YOU'RE WELCOME 🤗 Cheers 🍻
The food here is awesome. Every dish I have order exceeds my expectations. Definitely worth the 100 miles (each way) to come here and enjoy myself. They even serve delicious quality white rice with the dishes order which makes it all the merrier. The restaurant is pretty busy at most meal times, so be patient and wait to be served. You will be rewarded.
Amazing food. Perfect experience! Easily the top 3 Chinese food joint in Rochester and possibly the best for seafood! Great management, customer service, atmosphere too! Very efficient and quick food. You cannot go wrong with the seafood here, from shrimp to seafood pot. Fresh and tasty!
This is a cute little place. The food was delicious. I got a fried tofu dish with mixed vegetable and they had this delightful kind of cauliflower I had never had before. Kind of like a young baby cauliflower. It was really good. My friend got a fried rice which she very much enjoyed. It was nice and bright in there. Nothing amazing but comfy.
Decent Chinese restaurant near UR campus. If you want to rly enjoy Chinese food here, do not go alone, but go with some party at least 4 and share the plates because one plate would be too large enough to get bored But if you have several different plates you may enjoy various flavors!! I have tried this with my friends: Braised Pork Belly Sour Mustard Boil Fish Beef Chow Fun (it was my favorite) Eggplant Garlic Sauce Chinese Choves
A surprising good Chinese restaurant in a nondescript strip mall. Good old fashioned Cantonese dishes, ranging from the simple watercress with garlic to spicy hot chicken popcorns. We enjoyed our outings here. Taking in everything into consideration, this no fuss restaurant delivers a solid Cantonese style experience and would make us come back here when we are in the mood to try southern Chinese food. Service could be better. There were only two ladies working the entire restaurant. They rushed from one table to the next and did what they could. There was some waiting needed in every steps, but it was expected in this kind of restaurant.
When you walk in to an Asian restaurant and all of the customers are Asian, you know you are getting the real deal. If you like Americanized Chinese food, this will not be your cup of Oolong tea. But if you are looking for authentic Asian experience (the kind where you are not sure if what's in your mouth is some sort of vegetable or maybe fish...?), this is the place. The food was amazing (only disappointment was the eggplant in garlic sauce-- sauce was bland and no heat at all) and while the service was friendly and prompt, there were no return visits to check on us or fill water (which was desperately needed).
We have been there a few times before, but we are very disappointed in my take out and it wasn't because I didn't get a cookie. We ordered spicy crispy beef and crab ragoons, we have ordered it before but ate there. The take out was small portion and small rice, we ordered an extra white rice we didn't get and the beef wasn't as good as we remembered and definitely not crispy beef. The ragoons were good as usual and I guess we hit them on a bad day. I will try them one more time.
Not sure what's up this time. Sesame chicken is acceptable but the lo mein came with no sauce or flavoring and the dish was filled with an oily liquid that poured out from it.
Ordered the tofu hot pot, listed in the vegetable section, and it came with pork, chicken and shrimp as well as awful tasting tofu in an awful tasting sauce. Very disappointing. If you’re vegetarian or have any particular aversion to any protein I don’t recommend giving them a try.
I'm not sure if the restaurant was just having an off night or if our experience is the norm. As you can see, I love leaving great reviews to support local businesses. Unfortunately, tonight my daughter and I decided to call in an order from this location, and I drove 45 minutes round trip. What I brought home was disappointing — two barely cooked egg rolls, spicy crispy chicken that was all breading and extremely salty with hardly any actual chicken, chicken and broccoli that was completely bland, and wings that were undercooked with blood running out when I bit into them. Not what I expected for a $42 takeout order. Sadly, not a single item was good enough to make this an acceptable dining experience.
