Opinions de Sinbad's Rochester
Wonderful and warm spot for a friendly lunch or dinner. Approachable menu with something for everyone, no matter your tastes, food intolerances, or allergies. Always our first stop when in Rochester.
We were headed to the airport on our way back from visiting my brother in a city close by. We wanted to grab something to eat that was delicious but also a quick grab-and-go. The service was great— from the staff to the gentleman that I assume is the owner. The pitas we got were amazing!! Endless flavor! The sauces were mouthwatering. I got the eggplant pita and added chicken— it was so good! Highly recommend!! We got four different pitas and they were all incredible! I’m sad I don’t have a location where I live because I would be a regular customer! Wish I could give more stars!! Wish you endless success!
The food is top-notch and fresh. The service is always professional and cordial the servers want to come to work. The servers make you feel that you're not an imposition ,but you're special and a true customer.
We found it while we were on a tour of Rochester. It's a very nice restaurant. Great food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. We enjoyed our dining experience and very happy with the service.
Sinbad's has become my favorite place for Mediterranean food in the Rochester area.
This is one of my favorite places in Rochester - people that are new to the area will get this as a recommendation from me. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, although I'm partial to the kabobs. The baklava is amazing.
The food and service were amazing! If you’re vegan/ vegetarian you should totally get the combo 🤤
Sinbad's is the best place to go for Mediterranean food in Rochester. Whenever I have someone up from out of town, this is a must stop for us. Great food, and the staff is always super friendly and welcoming.
We had the chicken pide was good.
This has to be my favorite place in Rochester. I’ve been going there for many years for my birthday. The prices are great and the food is fresh and taste great.
We ordered lunch for the office and everything was absolutely delicious! The Combo plate, pitas, Gazpacho and Sambusek were are all so yummy. We will be ordering more frequently. Ordered office lunch again and it is sooooo delicious. The food is always amazing and cooked/prepared to perfection. This visit had one minor slip up but I won't even mention what happened as they went above and beyond all my expectations to fix it. 5 stars again and again!
Best Mediterranean food! Try it...you'll love it!
I had little experience with Greek or Mediterranean food. Ahmad, the owner, helped me navigate the menu and recommended a few excellent dishes. The food came quickly and was absolutely as good as Ahmad shared with me. The servers were on top of their game. Every time I turned around my water had been refilled and before my drink was empty they were asking if I needed another. Great experience. I will be back!
This place is my old faithful! Sinbad’s is the best, it’s always consistent, delicious, and quick. I’ve never met a menu item I don’t like and their prices can’t be beat. I would spend my life savings for their garlic sauce recipe. (Sinbad, if you are reading this, please start selling jars of it).
The food is so fresh and delicious. I had the chicken and beef with the veggies and pita bread. The flavor was so good. They give you a good portion of food for the price. You can eat inside or out and the wait staff are super nice. I highly recommend this place and when you come to eat bring a friend or two.
I love coming here especially in the nice weather to sit on their patio. The food is so yummy and has great flavor, may I suggest the chicken pita & homemade lemonade ?! Seats outside fill up quickly. There is no access for handicapped wheelchair users. That maybe the only down side.
Birthday dinner for our daughter and friends - absolutely perfect!
The food is always fantastic and services phenomenal. Last night we had the privilege of meeting the owner, who came over to check on us. He brought extra foods out for my 5 yr old nephew and then helped him build Lego’s which was really precious. Will forever support this great local business!! This is the definition of great local business and great local owners!
I ordered the grape leaves and pita gyro and was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the white sauce and grape leaves dressing. The portions were sized to satisfy and didn't feel like I over ate. The outdoor seating was arranged well to take advantage of the neighborhood views. Overall, it was a cute place and good experience.
Always great food and service. The owner and all the staff are always fantastic. Love the baba ghanoush and pasta di pollo
Best Mediterranean food I have had in my life! So many layers of flavor in every dish I tried. And I want to try them ALL. Healthy too. As a diabetic, I was able to make choices with ease and without any spike to my glucose. Nothing was overly salty either. But oh the FLAVOR!!! Service was exceptional. Friendly, efficient, kind, and gracious. Comfortable atmosphere, modern-ish, yet warm and cozy. I hope to dine at Sinbad's whenever I visit Rochester. Which may need to be a lot more often.
We always order take out for the office, food is amazing and the wait is never too long.
Outdoor seating is the best! I liked everything I had here so far. I liked Gyro kebab, hummus, baba, falafel, freshly made lemonade. Staff is also nice. Highly recommend! They also have parking at the back.
We really enjoyed the food. I have the malfouf, which are cabbage rolls. There really wasn't a lot of tomato in it that you could see but the taste was very good. My husband had the carciofi, which is a basil pasta with artichokes and parmesan and he had it with shrimp. The shrimp were very large and tasty. I'd go back again.
Great food, reasonably priced , the staff is very nice . Very fresh, delicious, spiced perfectly. Check it out
Finally got dinner here for takeout and it did not disappoint! They were very efficient on the phone, accommodated easily to my “no dairy” request on the chicken plate. Everyone was kind and although we didn’t eat there, the inside was nice. We got a bunch of food, a few different kebabs, some pitas and falafel and a few other things, ALL of it was great. Definitely recommend.
Salads and pita meals were amazing. Price was fsir and service was excellent. Off street parking available.
Our favorite place to eat! Not one bad meal ever. Top notch dishes.
A gem on Park Ave! Excellent spot to eat outside on the rare day it is not snowing or raining. Shaded with trees and umbrellas... A+. Food was great! Different than many local spots... The Greek menu is light and fresh
We had our first date here 25 years ago. We’ve since moved away but happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped for lunch. The food was outstanding. We had an appetizer, salad and pitas and all were amazing. My husband got the eggplant pita and I the gyro. They were toasty, warm and filled with delicious flavors. Highly recommend!
Oh My Goodness!!!! Mmmm...Mmmmmmm Mm ❤️😍😍😍😍🤩That is Literally all I can say, everything was so Fresh! Absolutely!!! DELICIOUS! I told my cousin I wanted Mediterranean food and she suggested this place! Will FOREVER be my favorite! Keep up the great work guys! Food , service.. everything was Amazing! XOXO
The tea was the best I've had in the Rochester area.I use a Caykur at home. My wrapped falafel was very good, I prefer mine a tad spicy. So if you want spicy ask other wise it will not be 🥵. The dolma, grape leaves could be a tad bigger. I'm use to a fatter dolma.Dolma had good flavor. Pleasant atmosphere, waitress. Over worth a return to try out more dishes.
Came in with my cousin for her first time experiencing Sinbads. LORD was she impressed, amazing people PHENOMENAL food. 100% reccomend the mashawi plate !
Stopped in for lunch after some shopping on Park Ave. Our food surpassed my expectations and was so delicious! Highly recommend the dolmas, tabbouleh, and falafel — order the combo meal and get all three! Friendly service and delicious food! Will be back.
Added photos of the Di Vaccina– as you can see I literally devoured it. I’ve been coming here multiple times with my friends over the past few weeks and each experience gets better and better. I leave feeling full and content, and the owner is so kind to greet us each time. Such a beautiful gem here in Rochester :’) BTW, I can’t recommend the Di Vaccina and Di Pollo enough. I would eat it every day for lunch if I could. Make sure to try it!
My boss and I came here yesterday for a quick meeting late in the afternoon. We found a table outside and sat down. Immediately, one of the staff members brought over a couple menus and asked what we’d like to drink. The waiter was also friendly, the food was good and prepared quickly. If you like Mediterranean food, I would recommend this restaurant. Attentive and cordial staff. Tasty dishes. Quick service. Nice outdoor seating area.
One of the best places in Rochester - well established excellent food and reasonably priced.
Great tasting food. The freshest and most flavor I've ever had in a meal
Loved it here. The food was so so so good great vegan options. The host and our server were both so sweet and bonus they loved and complimented my outfit which always makes my day. Portion sizes were large so come hungry!
Sinbad’s is my favorite Mediterranean restaurant. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and happy to serve their guests. I grew up eating Baklava, Greek salad, Kafta, and falafel so I always feel at home whenever I eat here.
We net some friends for diner. We love the vib, food was delicious and the waitress was wonderful. Everything was fresh and well prepare. Dessert and coffee was the perfect ending. We'll be back for more delicious food.
I met two friends here for lunch and to catch up. We were greeted pleasantly, and not rushed to order or finish. Very nice, relaxed and attentive waitress. Food was excellent and served nice and hot. I highly recommend Sinbad's!
Consistently delicious food! Never had a meal here I haven’t loved, and I have tried several dishes including the pasta. My usual go to is the chicken pita with extra garlic sauce, amazing!
Sinbad’s is one of my favorite spots in Rochester. It’s consistently good, affordable, and reliable. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Batata, Hummus, and Chicken Kabab, and everything was fresh and flavorful as always. The hummus is creamy, the chicken is perfectly seasoned, and the Batata adds a great texture and balance to the meal. Service is quick and friendly, and even during busy hours, it’s usually easy to grab a table without much of a wait. Definitely one of the best dining options in the city if you're looking for great Mediterranean food without breaking the bank.
Loved it! My friend and I shared a delicious early dinner. Our table was outside and felt very cozy and comfortable. Fish was flavorful served with delicious Greek salad (dressing was on point). The combo plate was big and Mediterranean classy. My favorite was Tabouli salad and babaganoush. Thank you for the great food and hospitality 🫶
I absolutely love my waitress. She was so knowledgeable about food allergies and being upfront about everything. They help me customize a dish so I would be able to eat it with food allergies. The lamb was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly when you say rare they actually cook it rare. I tried the yogurt soup that they had and I didn't love that but I'm happy that I tried it. They had so many different options of things to try and all the flavors were so unique. I highly recommend coming here and I would definitely come back here again. Even better is that the food wait time was only like 5 minutes which was amazing.
Had a great experience here! The atmosphere is really nice, especially the porch seating—perfect for enjoying a beautiful day. The staff were warm and welcoming. The food overall was solid—I’d give it an 8/10. The lentil soup wasn’t what I expected; it was unblended and quite lime-forward, which might be a hit or miss depending on your taste. The chicken gyro, on the other hand, was fantastic—fresh, hot, crispy, and loaded with flavor and sauce. Portion sizes were generous too. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone in Rochester craving Mediterranean food.
We had a group of seven including a six year old. They had to move a few tables together and gave us the option of adding a small round table or adding a chair at the end. That in itself wasn’t all that important, but the owner came out to make sure everything was perfect. He even hung up my coat. We got several dishes and shared them around the table. All were very tasty and one of my top requirements for any restaurant was there, the food came out hot. Yay! But again, the food was great. The server was very attentive for all of our needs. The owner came out to make sure everything was perfect and saw the six year old being a bit picky, and he brought out a separate small plate of unseasoned chicken for her. He was extremely thoughtful. Sorry pictures of the food.
A small Mediterranean restaurant with amazing food. There are so many options and the portions are so large. I got the Samak (fish) and a combo plate for the table, and all of it was delicious. I like how you can the fruit salad for your side salad, and our waitress was really nice about asking about allergies.
The outdoor seating draws you in right off the bat. We got the combo platter which gave us a little bit of everything as an appetizer. We also got the eggplant pizza and it's the one of the best ive ever had. So we decided to try another pizza to go! To finish we got the baklava and it was so delicious. One thing I noticed is the customer service. Who I'd like to say is the owner was very attentive to all patrons. Making conversation, making sure we had enough room for all the food we ordered. Cannot wait to come back! Because we will be!
The food is FANTASTIC!! Such flavors, each dish it’s own distinct flavor. So important as an authentic restaurant where sometime you can go into one, and everything taste the same especially when you’re working with similar spices and things from the same area of the world. NOT HERE!! You must try the gyro if your a fan! The pita they make is delightfully crispy and has its own distinct flavor. The appetizer Sambusek was a favorite!! Excellent service! The only thing is the food and atmosphere inside didn’t really match. Maybe some cultural influence of some sort, accentuate the experience, because it is a wonderful one for the pallet!
The spread I had was nothing short of beautiful. A pita with greens beans, mushrooms, salad, tomatoes, chicken, and steak. In addition to this I had a wonderful fruit salad. The waitress was really kind and even the boss came over and asked us how our meals were taking our finished plates in the process. I highly recommend this place. I have been three times this year so far.

Stopped in for lunch. The food and service was fantastic. On a nice day the outdoor seating is very well worth it.
Nice variety of delicious food. Service is always friendly and prompt. Reasonable prices as well. Would recommend.

Best Mediterranean food in NY state- hands down! Falafel is amazing, their chicken platter is delicious, pitas are filled to the brim with- you can't go wrong with most anything on the menu.
Me and my boyfriend go here often and we love it every time. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is so delicious and fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant !
Food was so fresh. The green salad, falafels and chicken pita were very good. Comfortable atmosphere and clean environment. Would definitely be bqck!
Delicious food Dont miss the chicken soup! Stuffed cabbage, baklava. You could make a meal of appetizers and be happy. A bargain for the quality of the food.

This spot is perfect for a casual dinner with friends and family. service is excellent and the food awesome! Highly recommended

We stopped for lunch and found a table immediately. Shortly after sitting down, a stream of people came in. Quite popular! I can see why. I had a kabob pita that was delicious. Our appetizer was a warm feta stuffed pita that I would reorder in a heartbeat. Def recommend!
Good food, clean place and right next to a not a very busy street. Quite neighborhood or at least that day it was quite and peaceful. It wasn't busy and we were relaxing. If I'm ever visiting Rochester I'll definitely go back to this place.
This restaurant definitely brought the Lebanese experience to Rochester. The music, ambience, food smell/taste and spices; but not only that, the generosity lebanese are known for! The plates are super big. You will have definitely something to go. We had the malfouf, which is one of the appetizers, which definitely is enough to be a main course, and its for like 8$. On top, it was Very tasty. As main courses we had the machawi and the sfiha both are exxellent. The machawi might be a bit greasy, but overall fine. As complementary next to the main dishes we had the tabbouleh and the sinbad salad. I would recommend to tabbouleh ober the sinbad salad. Overall very good
For our appetizer, we had the SFIHA: ground beef, tomatoes, onions, pine nuts, and cheddar cheese toasted in pita. It was difficult to share because the ground beef was wrapped inside the pita. And cutting it in half was quite messy. It could have been a dish for 1 instead of an appetizer to share. I found it a little dry. We enjoyed the OASIS Pitza: Garlic sauce as a base with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and parsley. It was very good. This one was cut into 8 slices and would have been easier to share as an appetizer. Service is good. Toilet is clean.
Don’t let the exterior appearance scare you off. Excellent food with reasonable prices. Pitzas are a standout. Greek salad was meh, get their house salad instead.
The cutest little Mediterranean restaurant in Rochester. It was cozy, quiet with great options for vegan and vegetarians. Was a little disappointed that there was no rice on the menu, the cauliflower appetizer is a bit oily with less seasoning but the sauces more than make up for it. The highlight is the chicken shawarma.
Went to Sinbad's at about 6.30pm and were seated outdoors where we had dinner. The ambience and service were great. I ordered the lentil soup as a starter. It was disappointing. First of all, it's not a soup. I expected the lentils to be blended but they weren't. It was also a bit too acidic and tasted like it had lots of citrus or vinegar in it. Couldn't get through it at all. However, the main course made up for it. We had the melintzano which was a hit. It comes topped with lots of cheese so you'll enjoy if you're into that. The eggplant was perfectly cooked. I had the shish plate with no cheese - it's basically a salad. The beef was cooked to perfection - moist, flavorful and a perfect medium rare. It was delicious!

Visited with friends recently and while leaving we were followed by their manager out to enquire about the tip we left which was pretty appropriate considering we billed over a $100. Went back again to give a higher tip but if you need to walk out to your customer and call them back to tip then you’re absolutely rude. Rochester is a student town and a vast majority happens to be internationals who can only spend on food and not paying your employees. That’s supposed to be your job.
Sadly, the food quality has suffered over the past 3 years. I had just moved to the neighborhood and my first dinner out was Sinbad’s. It was my go-to place ever since. I had raved about Sinbad’s to my friends, all of whom loved it. Tonight was a different story. The service was great, the food not so much. Dolmas were too chewy; generally, the food was mediocre.
Stuffed grape leaves were a good flavor but not stuffed enough. Small portions. Excellent iced tea! Bahara was great.
I might say that food mostly meet the standard of Mediterranean food but could be improve some plates such as the lentil soup and the folks . Lentils grains were hard and potato uncooked. Dolmas need a to be firmly wrapped so do not fall apart on the way to your mouth. In general place is cozy and clean. Staff is just "fine" not very attentive neither rude.

The food was okay but the service was awful. I asked for a soda with no ice and ice came in it. I asked for a dolma pita but they brought me a demeh pita. I guess that is the bar in Sinbad.

We love coming here for the atmosphere. The food is decent. Great for people watching. However, I regret to report that within more recent visits it has become more apparent that the ownership/management has been behaving in a hostile/aggressive/abusive, manner to the employees and it’s starting to become a problem with the patrons as well. Within four of our experiences there we have been met with this behavior and just today I was bullied even for using the restroom. There was even a previous experience where I was debated about an item that “wasn’t” on the menu as it sat in front of my friend and therefore it wasn’t given to me. And since then the waitresses have been able to give it to me with no issue. It is usually an uncomfortable environment when they are present.
While eating lunch, my car was sideswiped by another vehicle in their parking lot. I went to see if I could get help in resolving the issue. There was no concern or help from the restaurant's manag…
Flavors were actually ok but, all next day we got sick. The gyro, which was a small tube of something, was NOT good. It was this tightly rolled up thing in a sorry excuse for a pita. Never ever have …
Food was virtually inedible. Overcooked falafel. Under-seasoned chicken. Canned green beans, canned beets, flavorless banana peppers, dollar store quality pita bread and food devoid of any love or care. Over priced garbage.
RECENT AND POSSIBLY FINAL VIST❗ Way to go from 5 stars to 1 🌟 We had a large Order To Go for 9 people. Seriously ridiculous 5 small bite size pieces of beef? I ALWAYS leave the meat to eat last so I can truly see how much protein is actually in any dish. The entire dish was filled with lettuce and cheese and way HIDDEN at the bottom was 5 small bite size pieces of beef. Now, if I ordered a "salad" with a choice of meat as a topping maybe I'd accept this dish. However, I ordered a "beef" dish which happens to come with salad.... Basically i paid for lettuce with a sprinkling of beef as an addition; for an actual beef dish as ordered that is deceitful. I've NEVER had a bad experience before at Sinbad's it's my go-to restaurant for my entire family and parents... But after this experience.... I'm hesitant to go back. Definitely not worth the money to order a meat dish but end up with more a vegetarian order with a sprinkling of meat as an afterthought. We've had catered Sinbad's numerous times also, but now I'd be nervous because that would be a disaster if Sinbad's pulled a stunt like this, it would be embarrassing as guests would end up having to chew on lettuce and fight over the meat scraps thrown in. The small 5 bite size pieces of meat was tasty but seriously not cool of Sinbad's. VERY DISAPPOINTED because we ordered several dishes and at least another dish that was the same. All round a disappointing experience and as aforementioned a scary proposition if you're inviting guests because the host would be embarrassed due to the minuscule / comical amount of protein in an advertised (on their menu) as a "meat dish." IN THE PAST: The Cornish HEN is unbelievably good! Literally melts in your mouth. This is a full bird mind you, so you're gonna get full! I advise taking the tabouleh salad as it is authentic. The deserts are also authentic Mediterranean. Definitely a winner!
