Went during their soft open, really lovely place, I got their Mercury ramen it was delicious, had butterflied shrimp with cheese on top, pork, and a very hot broth. I also was able to try out their karaage it was great! Loved the crunch and thick chicken meat. Honestly look forward to eating there again and try out the rest of their menu.
Great new ramen place! I got the Venus which is the standard tonkotsu ramen. Got the Premium version which added extra meat and egg. Really tasty broth and good noodle texture. Also got the chicken karage as a soft opening promo and loved it as well. Extra crispy and juicy - not dry at all. Highly recommend!
Saw a new ramen place opened closeby, so gotta come try it right away! Maybe because it was Super Bowl day, or maybe because they're new, there weren't too many customers when I arrived (right before noon on a Sunday). That's fine with me! The restaurant was bright and clean. Service was quick and attentive, I ordered the Mars (spicy) noodles. Food came quickly, and the flavor of the broth is spot on! I can definitely taste the slight spiciness, but it is pleasant and doesn't detract from other flavors of the broth. Noodles are cooked well, still slightly chewy. My only complaint is the egg was slightly overcooked for a ramen egg. Definitely a great experience even while they're still finding their footing! This restaurant is located in a busy plaza with many popular restaurants. Finding parking will probably be a challenge if you come at normal meal times.
I had the Neptune (and Saturn from a previous visit) and the seafood was very tender and generously portioned! Broth was very flavorful, not too salty. 10/10 would be returning for it Saturn is a nice change from the typical ramen with the soft shelled crab it comes with. It comes with a little bit of a kick which I really enjoy.
Incredible food and a cool theme. Was empty and overstaffed when I stopped by on a Monday around 5. The two servers seemed to be new as they just stood around waiting on us to need something when the floor could have been swept or glass wiped of prints…. Keeping busy, etc., instead of watching me and my partner eat for 20 minutes. Besides feeling like the whole restaurant was staring, it was a very delicious meal. We even ordered another serving to go!
Absolutely love this place. Phenomenal quality of ingredients/ deliciously crafted broth and superb service. Simple menu but excellent food. I’ve tried many of the bowls and each none of them disappointed. I’ve visited 4 times before writing this review and I’m still amazed by everything the kitchen and staff have executed each visit. My husband and I have even started bringing our friends and they too have deeply enjoyed their experience. With each visit we have noticed an increase in patronage. So far we’ve never had to wait for a table. Have gone for dinner Friday and Saturday evenings. Clean / minimalist dining area Handicap accessible Parking in lot Clean bathrooms Great appetizers No beer or alcohol Unique bottle drink offers Offers To-Go services Good for small to medium sized parties.
Ramen Wakusei offers an exceptional dining experience with its cozy, inviting atmosphere and stellar ramen. The interior is warm and modern, creating a perfect setting for a relaxing meal. We tried the Mars and Venus ramen, both of which were bursting with flavor. The rich, savory broths and perfectly cooked noodles were a delight. The toppings were fresh and complemented the dishes beautifully. Whether you're a ramen enthusiast or a first-timer, Ramen Wakusei is a must-visit for its delicious food and welcoming vibe. Highly recommended!
This ramen place popped up a few months ago, and my family finally got a chance to try. The decor of the restaurant is simplistic and clean. The recess moon on the wall is a nice touch. They offer different ramen flavors. If you crave traditional ramen flavor, Venus would be your go-to. My husband and I were more adventurous and tried Nepture and Saturn. Neptune ramen has a great seafood flavor in their soup. The sea bass, huge shrimps, and scallops in it are very fresh. Saturn ramen features a whole fried soft shell crab, which creates a wow factor that stimulates appetite! The crab was crunchy and fried just right. The charsiu slices are very well marinated. This is definitely our family new favorite ramen place.
Really good ramen with various toppings. Unique flavors and theme. Will definitely come back to try their rice dishes!
Interesting combinations, delicious flavors, no waiting in line. We enjoyed the Venus ramen with a substitution of kinky egg noodles in place of the standard thin noodle. Looking forward to trying their other items.
We've gone here a few times for me to rate this really high on our list of GOOOD ramen spots! I really like their food and the options and prices are great! Veg options are great too!
Great ramen place, super cozy and inviting. The theme of planets in our solar system is really interesting and unique. Definitely a place anyone can call their "regular" ramen spot!
Came at 1pm on a Monday afternoon as a party of 4. Ordered 2x Venus (premium), 1 Mercury and 1 Neptune. The broths were all very light and not too salty which was great! It didn’t make us feel too bloated from the usual heavily salted tonkatsu broths. The noodle portion was huge. Great value for the prices. Check this place out if you’re in the area!
Walked to this place with the whole family in tow (3 small kids), on a Friday afternoon on off peak hours. This was our first time here and we enjoyed the experience. Staff is very kind and friendly. Ambiance is warm and inviting with a space/planet theme, but with classic wood and earth tones that keep it a nice grounded atmosphere. We ended up ordering Venus (Tonkatsu) and Earth (Vegetarian) for a family of 5. In order to stretch, we were able to add 3 orders of extra noodles and 1 broth. Our favorite was surprisingly the Earth. Rich flavors and the spinach noodles were delicious. The extra noodles portion was generous (more so than other ramen shops) and we were able to definitely feed everyone well. Prices are about what I expect in the Bay Area, but having moved from the Midwest, all of the prices have a form of sticker shock. In summary, will definitely be back! P.S. from my 9yo, “ it was sooooo good”
Amazing Ramen!! 🍜 We went on a weekday around 5:30 pm and by the time we left, the place was completely filled—always a good sign. The ramen was really, really good. While the vegetarian options are limited, we ordered the Earth Ramen bowl and it was delicious. I loved that you can do add-ons like extra veggies and egg, which made it more customizable. The broth was very flavorful, and they give you the option to adjust spice levels as well as choose your noodle type. I got the spinach noodles and my husband chose the egg noodles—both were great. Portions are generous and satisfying. The interiors are modern and nicely done, service was quick, and overall it was an amazing experience. Definitely a place we’d come back to for both the food and the vibe.
A Must-Try for Ramen Lovers Looking for Something Truly Unique! Ramen Wakusei in San Jose is incredibly creative and thoughtful of their ramen selections. Their menu features unique combinations of ingredients and flavors that set them apart from any ramen place we’ve tried before. Every bowl feels thoughtfully crafted, both in presentation and taste. We ordered the Neptune Ramen and the Saturn Ramen, and both were outstanding. The Neptune Ramen is packed with seafood goodness — the shrimp, sea bass fillet, and scallops were all tender and perfectly cooked. The broth, made from pork bone, bonito, and scallop, was rich, flavorful, and layered with umami depth. It’s a perfect harmony bowl of seafood ramen. The Saturn Ramen was equally impressive, offering a bold yet balanced flavor profile. Despite being labeled as spicy, it wasn’t spicy — just enough to give a gentle kick. The highlight was the crispy soft-shell crab, which added a wonderful texture and flavor. Just be sure to enjoy it quickly so it stays perfectly crunchy and doesn’t soften in the broth. The fried chicken karaage was nicely seasoned and tender. Overall, Ramen Wakusei delivers a distinctive and elevated ramen experience that goes beyond the traditional. From the creative concepts to the quality of ingredients, everything was top-notch. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore innovative ramen with exceptional flavor and presentation!
Very delicious Ramen and Donkatsu. Ramen was so tasteful, not salty. My chuldren like Donkatsu with Curry sauce. But I felt that rice should be improved because a balance between curry and rice was not good. I believe this place will become perfect when they change the rices. Except this, this place is a very good japanese food restaurant. Very clean and kind staffs. Menu is also very interesting.
Ramen Wakusei delivers rich, comforting bowls with standout soft shell crab ramen and crispy chicken katsu curry. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and consistent quality make it an easy spot to return to again soon happily.
Newly found ramen place and we have been returning since. Simple and clean line of decoration provide a casual sense of zen. The ramen is of quality and the pieces of meat are tender. Combined with the soup, we enjoyed every slurp. Besides ramen, their karaage (deep fried chicken) are perfectly executed in multiple visits (light coating and chicken inside still moist). Thank you chef for putting in efforts and hopefully the quality remains in future.
Hunting for a new local dinner spot and found Ramen Wakusei. Located in the 10 Butchers plaza, parking can be tough during peak hours but we arrived early and didn't have an issue. The outside is unassuming but easy to find. Inside we are seated immediately. The menu has several normal/creative options, including a vegetarian option called Earth and a bold option with a whole softshell crab called Saturn. We ended up ordering the Venus and Mars. Food came out quickly, and presentation is solid. Ingredients tasted fresh, meat was juicy as expected and the thin noodle portion is quite large. The sweet/tangy pickles, while visually pleasing, clashed in taste with the light broth. I was hoping for a deeper flavor with the broth (even with the black garlic sauce) but I did appreciate that it was lighter in oil/salt compared to most other ramen places. Service is great/attentive, and the price is standard to higher-end for ramen.
Ramen Wakusei deserves more recognition for their exceptional food combinations. Their planet-themed menu adds a playful element that captivates diners' attention. The presentation is Instagram-worthy, and the staff provides friendly, attentive service. Currently, it's not overly crowded, making walk-ins convenient. Their broth strikes the perfect balance—flavorful without being too heavy, complemented by quality toppings. The pork is notably fresh, and the soft shell crab is a must-try dish. For those sensitive to spice, alternative broth options are available upon request. Their Venus dish, featuring shrimp with perfectly melted cheese, is another standout. Overall, this restaurant is truly impressive.
Mars - it's not as spicy as I thought. I love the corn and that's why I picked it sub with egg ramen noodles but it's the thin one. Chicken karage - very crunchy and tasty. 👍🏼👍🏼 Leo soba - I actually like the flavor for these dry noodle better than Libra. Love the texture. Libra soba - if you like sour flavor, this could be a good choice for you. I started like this when I taste it until I tried the Leo. Venus - it's standard ramen but I like the deep fried crispy lotus roots. This place put their hearts into their ramen. I had my reservation before I come but after trying it, this can be a good ramen go to place.
The restaurant has an interesting recessed wall piece of moon artwork. Really gives the place a mysterious vibe. Would recommend the Mercury over the Mars. Cheese on shrimp is unusual for this kind of place, but an inspired idea. Pictured are karaage, takoyaki, Mercury, and Mars.
Great ramen place, super cozy and inviting. The theme of planets in our solar system is really interesting and unique. Definitely a place anyone can call their "regular" ramen spot!
Updated : They just changed new style noodle , tested great ! New opening Ramen restaurant @Sunnyvale . This ramen soup base has light but flavorful taste, and the ramen noodles without the kansui taste is quite delicious. The dining environment is clean and comfortable with lovely decorations!

Always a solid place for really luxurious ramen. Every bowl is named after a different planet and they’re all a different experience. I’ve tried the Saturn and Neptune so far and they’ve been so different from each other, from the broth to the toppings - both a pleasant surprise. It’s nice and clean inside with attentive and nice service.
Great ramen. Just spicy enough. I had the Saturn and my wife had the Venus. Both were great but I think I won this round. The lychee soda was also bomb

First time and it was good! I was quite skeptical at first but when we tried the food, it became one of my favorite ramen places. I'm a big spicy food person, and one thing about Japanese ramen places is the spicy ramen they have are usually never spicy enough for me. But the spicy ramen I had here had just the right flavorful spice. We also tried the curry katsu and it was really good as well. The name "Wakusei" means planet, and the names of the food items are all planetary, and they have this really beautiful moon carved in a wall.

A nice Ramen Restaurant with fancier selections. My brother ordered the Mercury and Neptune Ramens, a Ika Geso/Karaage Appetizer and drinks. Food came to our table at a good pace. My only qualm is that the Shrimp on the Mercury Ramen still had its shell and was rather difficult to pry out unless you used your hands or a fork. Also, it would've been nice to be given small plates for the Ika Geso since my brother and I were sharing.
We tried the vegetarian Earth ramen and chicken karage. The portion size is good, the broth was tasty, but the toppings could be better. For a vegetarian ramen, they need to add more interesting veggies, and make the broth a bit more flavorful. The barbeque veggie protein was a big let down. Instead could they add real veggies? The chicken karage was alright.
I had the mercury ramen bowl which had a rich broth flavoring and just enough spice to keep it interesting but not painful. I prefer thick egg noodles over the thin ones in this dish and the chashu while flavorful was so thin to leave me wanting more. I felt it was a little overpriced for what you get.
Fast service, fairly tasty food. The tonkatsu broth is surprisingly not very flavorful, but I do appreciate that it feels healthier that way. The katsu with the curry was fried well; the curry was sweeter than expected but still very good. The main reason that I've left a 4 star is mostly that there's alreadyso many ramen places in the Bay. This one is nice, but not particularly standout in terms of taste or setting (though the recessed moon decor is cool & I appreciate the galaxy theme for the menu item names). I can see this being a nice comfort spot to go to for folks who live nearby.
I and my family went to this new ramen place in Sunnyvale. It’s soft opening now. The atmosphere is cool, there is a moon on the wall. All the ramen items with a planet name which match the name of the restaurant.(wakusei means planet in Japanese) Our server is a young man he did not explain anything about the menu so we just studying by ourselves. We ordered premium Mercury, regular Mars, takoyaki, spring roll edamame sticks and chicken karaage. Premium Mercury is for my hubby, he likes the butterfly shrimp with cheese which is a unique topping. The soup base tastes like tonkotsu with seafood, which is not too heavy. The noodles is al dente and easy to chew. I ordered Mars with mild spicy flavors. The soup base is flavorful. The thin noodles is also al dente and smooth. A good balance of texture and flavor. The side order chicken karaage is complimentary during soft opening. The batter of the chicken is a little bit too thick and did not come with lemon and chill powder. Takoyaki is so soft inside my daughter loves this item. Spring roll edamame sticks is interesting. They use wonton skins wrapped the edamame. Looks cute but tastes just okay. Overall, I would like to come back this place for the noodles but not those sides. P.S. I saw other reviews the noodle should come with a piece of fried lotus root but we did not have it, maybe they forget it.
The service was great, small quaint ramen shop. The food was a solid B, would go again. But there are other places I've been to that were tastier.
I tried the most expensive Wagyu abura soba. The presentation was impressive, even with gold flakes, but the noodles tasted a bit sour and lacked a rich flavor, so I’d give it four stars. I’ll come back to try a few of the other dishes. The service was friendl

I tried the Venus ramen, the basic tonkotsu ramen a couple days ago during dinner time. The broth is weak, creamy but I didn't taste much pork flavor. I won't come back. There are lots of better ramen place nearby with deeper pork broth flavor.
It's an OK for me_ decent ramen. The cheese shrimp is unique_ prices are on the high side
* The ramen is fairly expensive * flavor of broth is weak but not delicate (ordered the seafood/tonkotsu mixed broth) * texture of the noodles not ideal * toppings are fine but nothing special I did not finish the meal. There are better ramens in the bay, so I would not come again.
Good service, but very low on the food flavors I was expecting much more due to high ratings. Too much “American “ too much cheese I was looking for the Japanese broth flavors but couldn’t find them. It looks nice and that’s it.
