What a cool place. Had the 4 meat combo that included brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, and catfish fillet. Had a few different kind of beers as well. The atmosphere was fun and the food was delicious. Had a chance to meet AJ and he’s working his ass off on the pit. Highly recommended. Will be back.

AJ's on main is a classic hole in the wall. Crazy decor on the ceiling and walls. Great BBQ sandwich on Texas toast paired with a huge side of fried okra and cold beer. If you are adventurous get a pickle shot.

Fantastic hidden gem. This restaurant is directly next door to the railroad. We went for The North Pole Express and decided to pay to park in AJ's lot. The smell coming from the restaurant was so good we knew we were going to be having dinner there. The place is small and comfortable. There's indoor and outdoor patio seating The food is out of this world. My daughter and I shared the catfish and it is the best catfish I have ever had. The breading was delicious and not too thick. The fries are great. The cocktails are so good..... try the Mules, they have a variety of them. I don't have a photo of the full menu because they offer a limited menu during the North Pole Express busy season. Grapevine is a wonderful city with a lot to offer. It's worth a visit and when you're there or at the Great Wood Lodge go visit AJ's, you'll be glad you did. I can't wait to go back and try the smoked brisket or pulled pork.

A local feel to a central location in a historic town. Brisket is served FD the chain and the pickle shots a Texas famous. Before you leave they know your name and if they like you will offer you to add a dollar to the ceiling.

Loved this local BBQ place while visiting Dallas and waiting on my flight! AJ is very nice and welcoming, along with having some really great food! The BBQ plate (pulled pork and sausage) was delicious and the fried catfish platter was a knockout! Tons of beer on draft too!

Located in downtown Grapevine, this is one of the more prominent restaurants as it's located right on the main road. The food was ok but lacked that extraordinary touch. We had the two-meat plates and a couple of beers. The staff was very welcoming. Seating indoors and outdoors. Limited parking spots in the back.

Cool place and laid back ambiance with a rustic Texas feel to it. Deep in the heart of downtown old Grapevine. Food was ok, it just didn't hit home like I felt it would based off the recommendations.Hard 8, Lockhart's, Hutchins and Rudy's seem to be a better choice at these prices. I spent close to 75 dollars on ribs, chopped brisket, they don't have sliced, huge miss for me, coleslaw, wings, And a bbq sandwich. We both had water as well. Friendly staff and attentive.

I really wanted to give this place a better rating as it has potential. It has a very small dine in area with about 10 tables and a few tables outside. There is a hometown, family-run vibe to it but the food just wasn't there. The brisket and pork ribs were super dry, almost as if they were prepared the previous day and the "baked potato" consisted of strips of potato with meat, cheese and sour cream on top, not my idea of a baked potato. The beans had too much vinegar and were not tasty. Not sure if I'd give this place another try but I'm sure the locals appreciate it more than I could.

Decent atmosphere, OK service, horrible food. Do not waste your money on the bbq. Dry, frozen chicken nuggets, for $100 for 4 of us two kids under 7.

This seemed like the place to come for real texas bbq but seems like the staff was uninterested to serve us even after coming in and asking for it. We ended up leaving after waiting for service that never came. Sadly only looked to be a few people there as well. Glad to see other people had better reviews about here but this is definitely not one.
