When you’re here it is family should belong to Olive Garden, but this is an actual sentiment and vibe you feel here. They have a wonderful bar, creative foods that actually taste good, and owners that care. If anything - you should check it out because of the flair and the accommodations. Desserts are also well deserving of their own praise. My family and I loved every bite. My one wish is that we had it in the restaurant itself. It was all takeout and still tasted amazing.
It was our first visit here tonight and it will certainly not be the last. The food was yummy Filipino cuisine and the service was quick. On top of that, the gentleman served was very kind. It’s a nice spacious restaurant and it could also be preferable for family gatherings or to watch games as a group since there are tvs on display to follow games as well. There was even a yummy vegetarian option for my vegetarian girl which was great! Thank you Palo Palo and we will definitely come back soon.
Girl need girl dinner with her man bestie. He recommended the restaurant, I showed up hungry. I may or may not have researched the menu beforehand. Yassss for vegan options and a full bar. There were locals in there and new patrons. Service was amazing and hospitality overflowing. Definitely going back. Can't lie drinks n fries are my go too. Support!
RAVING AND CRAVING FABULOUS, FUNKY FILIPINO FUSION! Say that 3 times fast... Welcome to Palo Palo, where humor is always on the menu! When Rosa sold the restaurant (formerly El Papagayo), she didn't take the decision lightly. Her dedication to quality, and respect for her loyal vegan clientele needed to be preserved. But carnivores and sports fans win here, too. This is what happens when the former executive chef at 58 Degrees and Holding Co. In Midtown teams up with a creative bartender with over 10 years' experience, one who knows that a real margarita includes actual fresh fruit. Not only do these guys have mad skills - they're genuinely nice people. Combine that with music, big screen TVs and a casual, fun atmosphere. Add in free appetizers, "Whimpy Burger Wednesdays" (Sorry guys, "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday" ain't gonna fly here - but good try!), and of course, scrumptious food with options for gluten-free and vegan diets...plus plenty of parking, and a horseshoe-shaped bar that encourages new friendships. Pure magic. My personal recommendations - Lady Lumps or Tofu Lumps, light and flaky choices that will make you rethink lumpia. As of this post, the current special is the Palo Tallow, flavorful fried rice featuring thinly sliced, sweet and savory Chinese sausage, topped with an omelet for added protein. Or, try the "Cali"-flower Sisig, or choose from delectable, skewered meats. And why not get in a collision with the Head-On Garlic Shrimp! Don't underestimate this place, these guys are true culinary adventurers and willing to change up the menu to bend with the wind. Check it out!
The food was exceptional, tons of flavor. Friendly and helpful service. The prices are great, even the music was good! Love my experience here!
Really enjoyed "Cali" Flower Sisig and Tofu 4 U last weekend. Vegetarian and Gluten free. So many other vegetarian and GF choices. Also snuck in a few lumpia. Can't wait to go back to try other options. Great spot to watch football games as they have tons of TVs and a full bar.
So happy Palo Palo is in the neighborhood. Great place to grab yummy drinks, even yummier food in a comfortable space with awesome people. My husband and I totally enjoyed our dinner and drinks. Its a family affair and everyone is so chill and friendly. Thanks for a great night out Palo Palo.
I would definitely return to this spot for some tasty Filipino food. We tried the pancit with chicken which had great flavor. The garlic rice was so good. The chicken drumsticks with adobo were amazing-get them sisig...jalapeños and onion sautéed w/seasoning and placed over dish. The pork belly was cooked to perfection! The ube churros and a banana pudding were our dessert. I'll just say-wow. Every dish was flavorful and cooked just right. We were even given some type of Filipino hot dog to try and it was quite tasty! I would order it off the menu next time 😋 I would also highly rate the service as well. Everyone was very friendly, welcoming and helpful to answer our questions. The wait time for the food was pretty quick too! This place was a 10/10 and we will definitely be returning and highly recommend.
My partner suggested this place from a friend so I went there with my family. ***The menu is new and is no longer Mexican food***. It's more Filipino - American Fusion. We had Talib Kawali, Cauliflower Sisig, Palo Stix, Pancit Walabok, the Fili-bisteak, cheesy fries, and the Sisig Spareribs. For Dessert we had Ube Cheesecake, Coffee Cheesecake, and the Iced Banana Pudding with Vanilla Wafers. The dinner was very good! I think they hit the fusion concept well though the dishes are a little small and probably not Filipino enough. I think it clashed with the look of the restaurant which feels somewhat casual (you order from the bar). Dessert was alright. The Ube Cheesecake was amazing. More mixed reviews on the Coffee Cheesecake and the Ice Banana Pudding. The later looks beautiful but they didn't burn off enough rum when making it. It's a new dish though and it didn't take away from the rest of the experience. 9/10.
SUPPORT FAMILY OWNED LOCAL BUSINESSES! I appreciate Filipino cuisine when they have vegan options. For vegans, they have a designated vegan kitchen so there is no cross contamination. You walk in, grab menus, pick a table, and when you’re ready to order you walk up to the bar. Several tvs playing the games as we waited for our meal. We ordered the pancit walabok (vegan), smoked sisig spareribs, fries, & Kyle’s rice (garlic rice). He ordered the new old fashioned and they didn’t spare the alcohol. I’ve never liked pancit palabok but this one, was the best I’ve had. He devoured the sisig. Quality through and through. Now if you start off with their restaurant name, take a look at their menu names, they have a twist of humor. lol, palo means “spanking”, my pancit “wala”bok (nothing). It’s a punny place, great food, thoughtfulness played in every aspect, terrific, welcoming service. This will be part of our go to rotation.
Palo Palo is under a new dining experience. Fabulous food. Hands Down. I took My Wife, and she absolutely loved the atmosphere. The hospitality is so wonderful when you step into Palo Palo kitchen and bar ull feel the comfort. Please don't be shy, trust me. You'll enjoy the new dining experience for all ages and pets. Newly remodeled, Looks so amazing. Great service. There is nothing like it. Palo palo has fun entertainment for kids as well. The bbq taste is outstanding, flavorful melts in your mouth. 2 thumbs 👍🏼👍🏼 up. 👏 👏 👌🏽
Craved some good vegan Mexican food on a work trip this weekend. El Papagayo is outstanding. We ordered margaritas and food to go which were delicious! We ate chips and salsas while we waited. They gave us ice for our drinks so they wouldn't get watery on the way back to the hotel. The service was fast and very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend and will be back for sure.
My girlfriends and I really enjoyed this restaurant. The owner was so polite, attentive, and prompt to take care of all of our requests. He was very outgoing and made our visit very comfortable and welcoming. The food was delicious. They also have a Vegan menu, which is awesome since it's so hard to find a restaurant to go to with our Vegan friends. We will definitely be back! 💯🥰
This place was excellent! The tacos were absolutely delicious, and the salsa bar was a very pleasant surprise. We also had Cadillac margaritas and they were top notch! The atmosphere felt authentic, complete with an indoor water fountain. The staff was very friendly and attentive. This place is a new favorite restaurant for me! I'll be back any time I'm in town.
This was the first time I had been to El Papagayo Restaurant. That have a mango salsa that was really good. I ordered the shrimp super wet burrito and it was big for two people I highly recommend this place. I like the atmosphere. Old people are very nice. Places very clean. And I like the salsa bar many different kinds of salsa. I give them five stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.
The service was chill and he was nice. But the food was expensive for the portion they give you. It's mediocre at best. The best part was finding a long hair in our food. Needless to say, we're not coming back.
Vegan Options. I've only tried a few items including: #1 ranked on the vegan burger challenge...unfortunately I did not like it. It has potential but the sauce was too sweet and the burger falls apart. I did not like the onions smothered in bbq sauce. I prefer the super mac or the cheese skirt burger found at Brodericks and Buck n Sadies. I also tried the baja tacos, tofu was cubed but too big and didnt have flavor. The pineapple or mango sauce was again too sweet. The tortilla was dry and cold. The super burrito was not great either. I'm disappointed but keep trying guys! Less is more sometimes. On the plus side...the avacado dip was super awesome (the one that came with the baja tacos) . I put it in my left over burger the next day and it was pretty good.
Downtown price for amateur quality! The food tasted meh (but on dry and bland side), and way too expensive for what they are. Portion was ridiculously small. They also didn't include one of the sides I ordered. Definitely not going back.
