Best mini donuts and in my opinion donuts in general. Always fresh off the donut maker. Price is great. Deserts are great especially there mini donut delight. Very friendly service I go there every Saturday and always recommend it when tourist ask where's the must try places in Old Sacramento or in Sacramento in general. When it's crowded it takes some extra time to push those little bites of heaven out but it's well worth the wait.

Donuts here are to die for!! Fresh hot, melt-in-the-mouth soft and awesome taste! They take your order and fry the donuts. I highly recommend the chocolate donuts.The cinnamon sugar ones are great too. The serving size of other items like fries or nachos is good. We had the donuts before going off inside the Railroad Museum and we came back for more just before heading back home, that’s how good the donuts here are! I’m gonna come here each time I come to this side of Downtown Sacramento

I just ate 16 donuts and I'm contemplating eating the 16 I bought for my daughter! DELICIOUS!! I will be a regular now for sure. I had vanilla, chocolate, powdered sugar and cinnamon. I loved them all but think my favorite were the vanilla. I highly recommend this place. This is my first ever review; I was compelled to share with others. I can't wait to try sone of their other deserts....so much for the diet! :-) Support local business!

So good! Hit oil makes the fresh dropped mini doughnuts so delicious. They were not busy at the time and we got three bags of delectable goodies that the kids ate up in record time! The chocolate covered and powdered sugar were my favorite. We also had cinnamon covered but that was not my favorites. Would definitely come back.

Sad to see Danny go BUT give knotty knots a try you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how great they are! They’re almost like a funnel cake and a Krispy Kreme had a baby. That’s the best way I can describe it. They are hot fresh and delicious and the new owner is a super nice guy. They are the best fresh homemade donuts I’ve ever had next to Danny’s. I’d highly recommend trying the glazed knots! I went back the next day for another order because they were soo good :)

Danny's Mini Donuts catered our wedding with their truck-- it was absolutely the best decision we could have made! a year later we are still getting rave reviews on these donuts from our guests. They're hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. If you're having an event I'd absolutely recommend them!

I went there today (6/21/24) and was pleasantly surprised to see the new owners “ Mad Hatter Donuts”. They are open late on Friday (opened at 8pm) and they serve the Danny mini donut plus their own donuts! What a delightful surprise! I went there (3/21/24) and a new donut shop is there. They do not sell mini donuts but sell knots and such.

We stopped here on a whim after a underground tour, and we so happy we did! These were so delicious! We tried the chocolate and powdered sugar - both were good, but the powdered ones were supreme! Beignet-like in texture and taste, we would have been happy with just those. Definitely a must-try!

They have a few different flavors like chocolate...powder sugar...glaze...glaze with sprinkles...cinnamon and brown sugar.. They also have other food you can order also like nachos....wings....fried catfish...fries...onion rings. We ordered the cinnamon sugar donuts...they were delicious...so warm...soft on the inside... If your in old sac...I recommend this place for sure...

I went here back in July, and it was a really cool place. I loved the food, and it was cool being able to watch him make the donuts. I got the donut delight, which had donuts and ice cream together. The texture of the donuts was great, and I loved the fusion of the hot donuts and cold ice cream.

Their donuts are delicious and the ice cream they serve is also really good. My only complaint was that I was charged for a spoon. I’m not sure why I couldn’t just have it with my ice cream, but besides that everything there is always great.

We bought my mom a Groupon for Dannys Mini Donuts for Valentine’s Day and we were with her when she used it over the weekend and the service was great. The young lady helping us was very friendly and helpful, we didn’t feel rushed or pressured to order right away, which I think is always a good thing especially when you are a first time visitor to any establishment! We had a look around the store before ordering and watched all the mini donuts get fried and make their way through their little sweet ride of deliciousness. The toppings offered for the donuts were cinnamon & sugar, chocolate, strawberry or powdered donuts and of course sprinkles too. The ice cream selection was great as well its all Thrifty ice cream which we love! I also saw some mini pies in the small case on the counter and soft drinks and coffee are there as well. My mom was able to use her Groupon with ease and hassle free she git her 2 dozen mini donuts (1 dozen cinnamon sugar & 1 dozen chocolate) and we were on our way out the door. The donuts were piping hot and so delicious they just melt in your mouth! I think our only complaint would be the counter could be cleaned up a bit or wiped down, but I get that there is a lot of stickiness going on/bound to happen, but light wipe ups in between rushes could always help that! We will definitely come back to Danny’s again. Thanks for making our first trip to downtown Sac a good one :)

No longer Danny's. It's now called Mad Hatter Doughnuts. Donuts were good, but they do make them a little smaller than Danny's made them. We also got ice cream and there's nothing bad to mention there. The worker was nice, wish there was more seating but it's understandable that there isn't due to the high foot traffic. The menu selections were reduced aside from the icecream, donuts and drinks (and maybe a few other options like chips etc) but they don't really serve food anymore. We just went there for the donuts though so we weren't disappointed!

What you get is not what you see there, ready for sale. Toppings are just sprinkled and not dipped, so everything mostly end up on the box bottom in the donuts!

I saw the ad on groupon and decided to give it a go since my nephews love donuts. The donuts they have on display looked good and we ordered them all with the chocolate glaze and sprinkles. We were pretty excited -- my 2 and 5 year old nephews were wowed by the neat mini donut conveyor (it is pretty cool to watch, for that reason they get a star) but sadly the taste and presentation were lacking. They lumped our 24 mini donuts in a box, then drizzled watery cocoa mix - not even chocolate syrup, it was some weird powder mixed with some liquid...very watery and looked nothing like the glaze in the sample donuts...but I guess they never do.) Maybe the powdered or cinnamon sugar donuts would be good, but sadly we just had 24 greasy, watery chocolaty flavored loops. The kids liked them -- Danny's gets a second star for that (granted these kids don't get much sugar, so they would eat spoonfuls of straight sugar if they could).

I DONT recommend this place, for anything besides the mini donuts, “Danny o” wasn’t that friendly, he didn’t talk, wave or even crack a smile. Not sure he was annoyed I took a picture or whatever. The fun foods are just that Fun, they didn’t taste great, I would only get donuts here, and eat fun fair foods other places. My mom Chicken Was cold ice cold in the middle, the hot dog was just that a hot cheese dog, can’t f that up, the chillin fires was nothing to write about, and the Leon’s was a 50/50 mix or maybe country time and fresh squeezed. Get the doughnuts and keep it moving.

I was informed they stop accepting DoorDash Orders from a loose “whenever we choose” time frame of 5:00 - 5:30pm yet failed to communicate this information with Doordash. My order was immediately cancelled when placed and then the tricky Doordash refund process had begun. I called to inform them of this discrepancy. I wasn’t angry nor was i expecting service. I simply stated what happened and advised they update their hours because more customers probably faced this issue. I was hung up on without an apology or assurance the discrepancy would be addressed Unprofessional. Rude. Callous. It was my first experience even trying out this store and i’ll probably never patron it again. I would strongly advise anyone expecting decent service to seek a better establishment.

With all the rage on Instagram and good reviews I thought this would be a great place to take my mom and sister along with a stroll through old Sacramento. Arrived there in the morning and he handed us donuts that were obviously made the previous day and had us put our own toppings and glaze on? He didn’t even talk. Just handed us the glaze bottle. Either is place is extremely overrated or we came on a bad day. They tasted like old stale kitchen donut maker donuts. Had higher expectations...

Extremely overly sweet for my taste. Not only that but the donuts were kinda soggy? Not worth the hype in my humble opinion. I even prefer the packaged donuts to this place.

First, this is no longer Danny's Donuts, it's a shop called Knotty Knots. Don't let this 4.6 Star review influence you into thinking it's still Danny's. My wife and I always drove by Danny's and never stopped, today we decided to stop and we didn't notice the change of name(our fault). Second, this place is absolutely horrible. The "donuts" that are supposed to be "Pillowy, Chewy, Airy" were anything BUT advertised. The "Knots" were broken up donuts with a knot in the middle. EVERYTHING was COLD and hard to chew. The variety of donuts were pretty much all glazed but with cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar topped on it. They didn't even have any "naked" variety as we were told it'd be 15min+ wait for those. Third, the pricing for what you get, is a horrible ratio. I get it's old sac and it's bound to be expensive but at least give me fresh, hot donuts not whatever it was we got. $24 for the total amount of maybe 3 whole donuts you'd get for $3 at your local Safeway or BelAir. Save yourself the trip, save yourself the money, save yourself the disappointment. I hate leaving bad reviews but the fact that this place is riding off what Danny built is absolutely ridiculous. Utterly disappointed.
