Opinions de Dim Sum House Sacramento
Every single time I've gone, the food is delicious.Hot. Crispy. You can taste the delicacy of the dim sum, while also being easy on your pocket AND filling your stomach. Try the steam buns or fried pork dumpling. They have an assortment of Sobe Life Waters, and even Arizona Green Tea in a can! The young man over the counter is always very kind and does Very well at explaining the options. You don't feel rushed while deciding what you many Want. So if you've never had dim sum before this is a great place to start.
One of the cheapest food places in Sacramento. The dim sum is good but the portion sizes for the plates is remarkable given the price. The workers working the counter are quite nice as well.
This place is great for dim sum in a deli setting. You can get a full meal for $5! Their Chinese tamales are filling and they have the best shrimp dumplings in town!
very friendly staff, PHENOMENAL food, and unbeatable prices. i’ve looked all over the sacramento area for another dumpling place with comparable quality or prices, and seriously, nowhere beats dim sum house!!
Dim Sum House is a delight for quick dim sum. There are no seats, no decor, it's just a line of dim sum and a register, but it's delicious and so cheap for what you get. Their menu is pretty limited (or I just get there after stuff sells out), but they do the basics as close to perfect as you can get. As a longtime potsticker aficionado I can say with certainty theirs are top of the line, no sauce required, though they always tend to offer you a sauce if you want one. The shrimp dumplings and their bbq pork buns are also quite excellent. They offer a different lunch special each day for roughly $6, they look great though I've never gotten one so I can't comment on any in particular. As with all dim sum, the best time to get it is in the morning. Some of my afternoon stops have yielded slightly dry pork buns, but again, my fault for going in the afternoon and not eating them immediately. All in all I highly recommend this place for quick delicious dim sum at good prices. Just don't expect a big menu or a fancy dine-in experience.
Stopped by today for lunch. I didn’t know anything about Dim Sum or any other foods served here. The woman behind the counter was SO kind and helpful in explaining what items were and how they were different from each other. The food was hot, delicious, and tasted very fresh. What a great place that treats customers well and provides wonderful food.
My wife and I have been coming here for years. If you get here early enough, there is a wide selection of Dim Sum, but they do sell out quickly. Their daily special IA alway good, inexpensive with an ample portion Pros; recipes are consistent and carried over from the original owners as they were bought out by family members when they retired Cons; some of the items are being modified to keep their costs down. Like the Shui Mai having a significant amount of rice added. I personally would prefer the price raised rather than cost cutting.
Stopped by on the whim. Lunch special is $5.95, massive portion made fresh and very tasty. The dim sum options are very affordable as well, and hearty. I didn't even think you could get food of any quality at this price point, I'm going to go back to support because a place like this deserves to stay in business.
Super cheap, super tasty, great service!
Been going there over 20 years they've always been very consistent good flavors good food great dim sum
Always take it home but half gets eaten on the ride back. 🤣 I will drive from Lower Tahoe area just for their Dim Sum! Family owners are the kindest people. Please go and keep supporting them!
Great dim sum as always. Very small and stuffy but worth it. Great place to order take out. I have only ordered chow mein besides the Dim Sum and are both delicious. You pick out the Dim Sum from the counter. Very good service. If you get there to late they may not have a good selection so I call ahead to let them know what I want and when I will be in.
A non descriptive place that serves homemade dumplings for takeout. Came here at 9 when they opened but we drove around unsure if they were actually open. Very affordable and tasty. The sticky rice is a must have. Gianormous and packed with pork and peanuts. Highly recommended
Today my visit here was good but I think I was alittle late because there was only a few items to choose from in the grab and go area but it was okay because it was everything that I really like and enjoy! They always have the best food for lunch or a quick grab and go snack and the price is beyond fair for everything they have an offer!! Thanks for the great lunch!!
Liked it love it. Come in and check them out yourself. Fresh breakfast. They made delicious dumpling and freshly baked cake and bun bao. They're so good. Su mai is the bomb here. This is a hidden gem in Sactown. Highly recommended.
LOVE this place. Food is always fresh & great portions. It's my go to for pork buns and dumplings. Please note this is takeout only as there is no seating inside.
SOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! OH MY GOOOOOODNESSSSSSS YESSSSS!! Best potstickers ever! Very good chicken shu mai. I picked this up after a friend's suggestion and I'm so glad I did. I also love that you can buy the foods by the each.

My favorite spot for a quick bite to eat! The shrimp dumplings are so fresh, and the potstickers are huge! You can tell they care just from the depth of flavor alone. They are always in a great mood and the food they make is fantastic.
There are lots of good dim sum and “dumpling” spots in Sacramento. But I’d lay down my last dollar that dim sum house takes them ALL if you want excellent food. Cutting to the chase—ambiance is low. This is not designed to be a sit down and eat place, so don’t expect it. But *DO* expect service from a true family run institution in Sacramento. Expect pot stickers the size of your palm, with real cabbage and ginger. Expect flavorful shumai with nice crunchy water chestnut blended with the pork. Expect har gow with a whole shrimp, not just shrimp paste. Expect wor wanton soup with more veggies and dumplings than broth—the perfect hug on a foggy winter day. Also, expect to get there early if you want their crunchy dim sums like their taro puff and crispy pork—which are amazing, and only available until sold out. Expect the best prices in sac for all of this delicious food—I’m talking <$1 dim sums and <$7 rotating daily lunch special. DO get your butt over there and you’ll be a very happy camper!
This is my go to dim sum place in sacramento. They have great dim sum they have great lunch specials the food is always delicious and the service is always great. There is no dine in it is take out only. There is only street parking and they are closed on monday.
If you're looking for good dim sum, no frills, and extremely reasonable. This is your place. You can order by the piece and most of the dim sum are on the larger size. Every time I'm in Sacramento I try to go here. For $10-15 you're full and satisfied. You may have to wait a few minutes for what you like to come up fresh and it's all take out. My friends and family all think it's worth it and even the really picky ones were glad that we went there.
Small shop, you walk in and they have pictures of the tasty morsels they serve. Just before they closed I got four potstickers and four shumai along with sweet rice cake. Let’s just say. This big girl. Are a rice cake a potsticker and a shumai. $10. And I didn’t even finish it. In this economy?! I walked right back in and bought the last two rice cakes.
This is a small whole in the wall probably 2 person operation so don't expect a whole dining experience or a huge dim sum selection. They have Dim Sum, a daily special plate and a paper menu full of items that they don't post so you have to asked for it. Prices are super low and portions are very generous so no frills but expect it to be tasty, filing and handmade. The dim sum selection is smaller. They make and put out what they have in the front for quick take out and when they're out, they're out. Get there earlier for the best selection. At the end of the afternoon, you get what you get. Shu Mai is my favorite along with the fried taro, fried pork dumpling and baked BBQ pork bun. They have a daily special plate that is freshly made when you order so expect a short wait. For $7 you get a big box that's almost 2 meals. The veggies are cut kind of big but they are fresh. Plenty of flavor! Best $7 plate you can get. The paper menu has a huge selection of food that I didn't know they offered until I saw a lady eating soup. I ordered chicken wonton soup and it was packed with chicken, wontons and veggies. It was tasty. Service is quick and to the point. It's one person doing it all Definitely not much atmosphere. There's a table or two you can communally sit and eat but that place is not meant for table service. Or to hang out.

I eat here more than any other spot in Sacramento. It's affordable and delicious. They have the same consistent selection of dim sum and also a full menu of other entrees. It can be busy at lunch time and they're closed on Mondays. The woman who works there is always nice and works so hard!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon to get some dim sum. It was all really tasty. The dining area is really small with not a lot of seating. Several people came in and grabbed orders to go while we were there. Overall, the food was great and the service was excellent.
Delicious, Cheap! I love the steamed BBQ buns and the potstickers. I often get them for breakfast on the way back from dropping off my kids (shhh!). Easy parking, friendly service and a no-frills location.
No frills to go dim sum and a la carte options. BBQ pork buns both baked and steamed were on point and delicious, especially the baked ones. Tried BBQ pork filled pastry dough, interesting and reminded me of a British pasty. Fried taro dumpling was ok w savory ground pork filling. Har gow and siu mai were just ok, wrapper on har gow was too thick and filling a bit gummy, wrapper likely overcooked from sitting in constant stream and siu mai had an overpowering porky meat smell.
The food is good and nice prices for everything. They do not often have many people working the front so it can be slow to get your order. They are friendly with getting you want.
Food was tasty! It's very small, but clean. We got there before the lunch rush.... When we left, the line was about 5 deep. Took a little longer than stated for our food, and a very small selection of drinks, but would def recommend and go back.
When I lived in Sacramento I made my way to to Dim Sum House a few times a month. My hubby loves it so much that it was a priority for him to visit while we are visiting in Sacramento. I don’t know many other places where they sell dim sum by the piece/ a la carte and this place does which is very convenient of you don’t want to buy a whole tray. The taro dumpling is very special and one of my favorites! I also like their house chow mein, the war won ton soup and of course all the dim sum! Not much seating so to-go orders are best. I definitely recommend this place for affordable and yummy dim sum!
Good place for a quick and cheap bite. I would definitely go in person to choose instead of ordering ahead though, when I was there some things were fresher than others. That being said, the prices here are pretty unbeatable. Definitely try the shrimp dumplings.
As a lover good, cheap dim sum, this is the place.
Always fast, fresh, delicious and great on a budget. Forget about that $10 combo at the burger places and get a box full of fresh-made deliciousness for less. Bring cash!

This place is a hole in the wall, they have seven or eight dumplings and a daily special main dish. Each dumpling is no more than a dollar and it's real authentic Chinese food and because it's the places is no frills it allows them to keep their prices low. I was pleasantly surprised by the great prices and the great tasting food. Open every day but Monday from 9 to 3:00 you won't be sorry
If you're looking for on the go dim sum, this is the right place. Affordable and fast. However, if you order any of the specials, soups, or other dishes, expect a 15-20min wait. If you want to order the special, place your order ahead of time if you're in a time crunch. Parking is a little tough but you can sneak some parking at the closed down Subway sandwiches next door.
I went to this place a few times. The food at Dim Sum House is consistently delicious, especially the dumplings and shrimp rice rolls. Service is quick, and the takeout process is smooth.

We stopped by about 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon and all entrees were sold out! We did grab several almond cookies that are the best I've had in a very long time (since Vancouver, B.C. in late 80s). Also, grabbed the last sesame seed roll that was deliciously fresh and tasty! Hopefully, next time I stop by entrees will be readily available to enjoy.
The people were very nice but they sold out of pretty much everything at 12:30 on a Thursday. I thought that must mean the food is really good. I got the siu mai and har gaw. The siu mai had water chestnut in it which I hate (that's just me and my personal preference, if you like it that's fine too). The har gaw didn't have much shrimp in it and had a lot of chewy bamboo shoots in it, first bite I thought it was shrimp shells but it was just the bamboo shoots. I might come back here to try other stuff to see if it's more to my taste but as of right now I do not like the food.
Decent food at a good price. Favorite items are sui mai (pork dumpling) and haw gow (shrimp dumpling) and steamed chai sui (pork buns). This last visit the sui mai was not the expected quality as in the past Pot stickers have the thickest skin and filled with lots of cabbage that is unappealing to my palate. We shop later in the afternoons. Unfortunately items are sold out and not replenished. It is generally not an eat-in place now after the covud pandemic but few small tables and chairs are tucked into the corner. Located on a corner. Parking spaces along the street is usually available.
Nice place to try some dim sum, they just have few types of dim sum. The place is small with few tables to stay and eat. Staffs very friendly. It’s not the best dim sum but it’s acceptable.

It's a tiny, counter served dim sum store. It has a *very* tiny menu. Some of the food was also cold, since they don't warm everything. They have a few tables to eat there, but since there isn't a public bathroom, your going to drive home with sticky hands. If you want to eat good dim sum, look elsewhere.
Service was normal fast food timing. Interior although there were a few tables was clearly setup for to go orders. Food was under par the best thing I ordered was the steamed pork bun the filling was very food. seui mai, hargow, and lotus wrapped rice ball were way under par. The pot sticker had a non imaginative filling and the wrapper was very thick and bread like. Wont be a return customer I sure miss the Hong Cong Station that closed a block away.
We got there late on a Sunday about 1:00 p.m., and they were mostly sold out which says good things. The dumplings we got seemed a little rustic and rough - not quite as refined as the San Francisco dim sum I've had
Wow so I looked up best dim sum near me and this place popped up so I walked in the whole place is dirty and it stunk like backed up sewage but the worst part is that the people who are working there they can't smell the foul odor. How does the food inspectors PASS THIS PLACE??? Makes you wonder. One thing for sure is that I will never go near this place again and I gave it a star because it wouldn't let me give my review. I've eaten at cleaner places in the street. You need to be current on all vaccines to eat here 😷🤐
It was not that bad last year. Today I tasted the potstickers, and they were very very dry. I started looking inside, and I saw that instead of pork meat, there is flour cooked with cabbage and just a tiny flavor of pork. I go to ABC bakery, and they are so delicious, nothing like this. They put real pork inside, real shrimps, not dough. I mean, are we in 3rd world country? Do the owners think nobody will notice? This was a horrible experience. The price between ABC bakery and this place is potstickers here are 15 cents cheaper. So not worth it. And the shrimp dumplings - the same, instead of simple shrimp, insides are filled with minced shrimps and lots of dough. :( This place is not dim sum, but a scam. Why put so much effort into making potstickers if you are gonna ruin it with such a nasty filling?
Sign says they close at 5. Got there at 4:15 and they had almost no dim sum left and were closing up the kitchen. We bought the last of the dim sum (6 pieces) and 3 dishes. He didn't tell us they were closing early. Our food came out at 4:35 and he KICKED US OUT so he could close early. Not ok to close a half hour early and not let the family you're serving know they won't be able to eat their food. It's winter and we have two small children with us (a 3 week old newborn and a 2 year old) so where are we supposed to eat now? It's too cold and rainy to eat at the park. Very very unhappy with this. If I wanted to go home to eat I'd have cooked and saved $35!!
I made a huge mistake of not going to Lam Kwong deli on 12th street. Thought I'd try something new. Horrible dim sum. Seeded like it was days old. Not fresh at all. Don't bother stopping here if you need dim sum on a week day early.
