Opinions de Marie Callender's Sacramento
The chicken pot pie was delicious and the croissant sandwich was amazing! Could have done without the noise from the vacuum while we were enjoying our meal.
My husband and I came for Saturday breakfast. My poached eggs were cooked perfectly with the rest of the food being spot on as well. The staff were so friendly and nice. This is a wonderful, casual and inexpensive neighborhood restaurant. Rather nostalgic with the pie too!
These are some of the best pies in Sacramento. They have really great seasonal selections, including specials for whole pies. I bought a fresh peach pie, a delicious buttery crust filled with a mound of glazed, thinly sliced peaches. So delicious and juicy! All pies are baked in house. Also got a Kahlua Cream Cheese pie and if you love chocolate, you can’t skip this one. It’s cool, slightly tangy, with a rich chocolate flavor and crust and a hint of coffee and kahlua. The team here really cares about their service and customers and it shows. Food has always been great too, veggie burger was excellent. Cornbread is delicious and also fresh baked. Breakfast options are really good too! No complaints in the 5+ years we’ve been coming. The pies are always a hit at holidays too.
Peach pie was the best I've ever had in my life and I make pie. The peaches was so fresh they tasted like they were just picked. Everything was cool j ed to perfection. We were greeted with awesome customer service.
My dad owned this place in the 90s-00s and my brothers and I used to work here. Very good memories. Besides the great food, the people and community really make this place very special, workers and customers alike. I stopped working here in 2005, but visited over the years when I'm in town. I visited March and had the half sandwich and soup combo along with a couple of Coronas. The waitress was very nice (Connie if I remember her name) and very attentive, and the place was packed! I did go during lunch time, but my goodness I was happy to see the place still thriving. The host and cashier were pleasant as they welcomed me, and the owner/manager Abraham was present and talking with and addressing the customers like they were family. I will always love a Marie Callender's but this one, and the one in Riverside (southern California) will always be my favorites to go to. I highly recommend any of the home style plates, any of the pies, especially the cream ones, and the cornbread. The only thing I will say is the breakfast isn't really their strong suit, although they do their best, probably the Quiche is the best as a breakfast item. Glad to see the decor and overall look is kept up well.
The best damn pie in the business. German chocolate pie, whipped cream instead of meringue. Half sandwich and piece of pie for brunch. $13 worth every penny. Even bought a whole pie to take home. Which I am attacking even as we speak.
This was my first time at this location, second time eating Marie Callender's! My server was very sweet 20yr old who was very tentative to our needs. I would have gave them 5 stars but some of the people I was with food wasn't correct or food was stale/cold! My daughter and I got the 2 for $55 the chips were stale and the spinach cheese dip could've been a bit warmer. Cheesecake was so delicious! I'd come back again!
Okay I got here around 8 am. Not busy, was able to sit immediately. The service was immediate. I placed my food order and drink order at the same time. The wait for my food took longer than eating it, and there was only 3 other tables besides mine. The inside is a bit outdated with paint and decoration, it has the feeling of being at your grandparents place and all it's missing in the plastic seat covers. Makes it feel homey at least. It is very clean. The size portion was apparently smaller then it was meant to be abd lucked out that the service notified the kitchen staff about the small mistake. So their staff is definitely going above and beyond to keep the reputation above par.
Being our 1st time here, honestly it wasn't all that. We stopped by just for a slice of pie but ended ordering their Chile & Corn Bread, which was good. The Banana Cream Pie was bland, no flavor & dark pieces of bananas, but the Lemon Meringue Pie was good. We also had some of their Hot Apple Cider which was also really good. My only complaint would be the dead insect on the window of the table we were seated at. C'mon an employee could have cleaned it off.
Well a group of four came in on October 1 2025 We were seated, the waitress didn’t seem to be in a good mood. She took our order. I ordered the Thai chicken. Big big mistake. The chicken strips were cut very thinly and DRY and you couldn’t see the chicken until you cleared the tortilla chips from the top. It wasn’t spicy at all for Thai chicken. I requested that will make it spicy and make it not so dry she suggested Cholula nope not good So I requested Tabasco that hit it off. As you can see, I gave three stars across the board. Service just okay here mood was off Food sub par dry and unflavored Atmosphere it’s an old restaurant it hasn’t been updated But will be back for the pies
My wife and I stopped by because she located a gift card I gave her last Christmas. It was not good and in all honesty I will never go back. The French fries had so much fried batter that it was terrible. The banana cream pie that came with the meal, that was only added to the price, was small and bananas were brown and we took it to go, so I did not see it until I was home. The chicken sandwich was thinner than before. The service was good. I don’t really understand how places like this are still operating. Shari’s on Freeport was the same. All this and a tip. The cooks are not the same and I feel they really don’t know how to cook, only defrost. Next time we go out it will be the store
I called this morning to order three pies, but they never took a credit card number or last name. I called back 2 hours later, and I got the 3rd degree when all I was trying to do was cancel the order. The lady didn't let me talk, she asked my last name, which wasn't asked beforehand, and a credit number, which again wasn't asked when I placed the order. I explained that all that was asked was the date, the time of pick up, the phone number, and the name. She was getting rude and short with me. She then had to get a manager who also kept interrupting me; at least he was able to find the order and cancel it. I just thought the customer service over the phone was very rude and poor. I won't be calling to place orders in the future just from this experience.
We did a takeout order on October 31st and it turned out to be the worst experience ever. I ordered a Frisco burger and for some reason the website would only let me order fruit as the side dish. In the notes I asked for French fries instead of fruit and my burger well done. When we picked up our food I asked if they included the French fries and the gentleman who later said he was the manager said that he was confused about the fries but would make me an order. When I got home and checked my bag the Frisco burger was with chicken. I decided that I would just eat the sandwich and more on. I bit into the sandwich and it was tougher than any chicken sandwich I've ever had and I realized it wasn't cooked thoroughly. I immediately called the restaurant and I talked to the same guy who acknowledged that he was the manager, I told him about the issue and he said that my order confused him. I questioned why no one called me to ask if I wanted the burger since I noted that I wanted it well done, we could have cleared up any confusion before I arrived. I told him that I would bring it back on the next day and I wanted a refund. He agreed. When I arrived the next day, he didn't want to see the raw chicken sandwich, he never apologized for the food or the $5 a gallon gas I spent to bring it back, he wanted me out of the restaurant as quickly as possible. I emailed the corporate office the next day and as of right now I've heard nothing.
