DELICIOUS ramen!!!! i got the godzilla tan tan men. i believe it was kathy that helped me out at the counter when i ordered. i was originally going to go with the vegan tan tan men but she was so helpful when ordering and asked if was pescatarian. i am! and she said the broth was completely pescatarian, no meat, so i can get the regular tan tan men and just sub the beef for tofu katsu. it was absolutely delicious and im so glad i could try their broth. next time i’ll try the extra spicy one! they also have outdoor seating which was dog friendly and perfect for my dog and i. will definitely be coming here again. one thing to note is there is no parking at the restaurant so be prepared to find street parking nearby
Took my wife here for our 9 year anniversary. We also went here for our first date. Even through changed locations nothing feels different to me. The ramen perfect for a cold day. I warn that it is a small place but its worth it. I recommend getting there early beacuse it gets busy. If you want a waiter to take care of you its not that type of place. With a small staff they do a great job helping so many people everyday eat awesome ramen. I would say if your adventurous try the lemon-lime koji ramen its so good but it does sell out. Get there early and give it a chance :)
Very nice neighborhood Ramen shop! They have a decent vegan menu with more traditional style options. My partner said the Godzilla tan tan men was the best shed ever had! Highly recommend!
There are better places than this. The lack of service here, especially for the prices, left a bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn’t return. It’s too bad for the ramen because it wasn’t bad, although not great either. The tan tan men wasn’t very spicy (1/5), only came with half an egg (really!?), and cold corn on the cob. Skimpy on the meat too. As far as service, there was no service to speak of aside from the person who took my order at the counter. You have to grab your own napkins, spoons, and chop sticks. When your order is ready they won’t walk your food to you, and then when you’re finished eating you’re also expected to bus your own dishes. On top of all of this, when you order they have the audacity to ask for a tip before any “service” was given.
Shoki Ramen House is easily one of the best ramen spots I’ve been to in Sacramento. From the moment I walked in, the cozy atmosphere set the stage for a comforting meal. The menu had so many options, including vegan and gluten-free choices, which impressed me right away. I went with their miso ramen, and it was incredible. The broth was rich and layered with flavor, the noodles had that perfect chewiness, and the toppings were fresh and generous. Every bite felt satisfying and balanced. I also tried the gyoza on the side, and they were some of the best I’ve had -crisp on the outside and juicy inside. The staff were friendly and quick, always checking in without being intrusive. What I appreciated most was the authenticity of the ramen - it didn’t feel Americanized, just real, comforting Japanese soul food. Sitting there with a steaming bowl on a cool Sacramento evening was the perfect experience. Shoki Ramen House is the kind of place that makes you want to come back regularly, and I definitely will.
Okay number one you have to know that this place is only opened on the weekends so if you're planning to go plan accordingly. Luckily we went about midday to enjoy some Ramen and it was very tame when it came to the crowd. There were roughly eight other people there to group set inside the others were outside. The service was impeccable. We were greeted very warmly by the person behind the cashier and they gave us a quick rundown of the different options. Especially what is considered the star attraction on the menu. That would be all the different spicy style ramens would have their very own section on the menu. The food itself was very very flavorful. I'm not going to lie I cannot remember the name of the two ramens we got I believe one was the sHoyu Ramen and the other one was a Godzilla Ramen. My husband and I split some of the meal with each other and both were fantastic. The one change I would make with my dish would be to see if I could get the garlic chips a little bit more fried within the ramen. I'm a texture person and that nice fried crunch would have put it over for me. We also enjoyed the spam musubi, pork belly bites, and shared one of this Sapporo supreme beers. It's a lovely place and if you have the ability to go support it please do because it needs all the love it can get on the weekends with bigger crowds.
Food is incredible. Will definitely visit again. Definitely a great spot with multiple vegetarian vegan, and gluten free options. Limited seating so accommodating big groups would be difficult. Parking was easily available. Really homey vibe and the employees made us feel welcomed as well.
This is a breath of fresh air in the broth base. It's light yet full of mushroom umami. The noodles were just the perfect chew. We tried the shio, garlic shio, shoyu and mazemen. The garlic was fresh and raw, really added the spice into the broth. The mazemen sauce is full of sesame nutty flavors. This is one of the ramen places I come out of feeling refreshed instead of stuffed.
First-time experience, and this place did not disappoint. This is a family owned business, and its owner is super sweet! So knowledgeable about Their menu! The ramen was freshly prepared as ordered. The wait not long for me to recieve my order. Since I am gluten-free, there were plenty of options! Noodles, soups! Great selection! There is outside dining and inside as well. What I love was that the broth was so flavorful, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Definitely felt like a homemade! I will definitely be back.
It was soooooo good! It's been 3 years since I first experienced this amazing ramen. I traveled to Sacramento from Dallas to support a friend. I had to make a stop by the Shoki Ramen House. The service and hospitality were amazing. The atmosphere was so friendly, even the other customers were nice. The broth was so good that I wanted to pick up my bowl and slurp it up ..lol. I am already planning my next trip.
Probably one of the best ramen bowls in Sacramento. Recommend getting the straight original shoyu bowl to get the true taste of the broth and ingredients. I got the Godzilla curry, and while delicious I couldn't taste the base flavors with all the garlic and curry. Tan tan men represents well. Would return!
The broth is fantastic. The other ingredients were fine/good. I was surprised to have cold mushrooms in my hot soup. Perhaps it was hyped up to me too much, so I was expecting to be blown away. It was worth going to.
I think this place is really hyped up. It definitely drew me to want to come in because of the fact that they make their broth from scratch sans MSG & preservatives! Unfortunately the ramen did not blow our minds with amazing-ness. My bf and I admitted that we've definitely had better. My spicy tonkotsu didn't have a ton of flavor, it was a tad on the bland/mild tasting side. I would rate this place a 3 star, but the customer service is amazing and I added an extra star just for that. I don't think we will be returning here, but we did enjoy the overall experience here.
This place never ceases to amaze our stomachs! Whenever we crave ramen (which is all the time), whether it is summer or winter, this is our go to location. We love how there are vegan/vegetarian options as well. The location is small but very cozy with an outdoor patio available.
It's a small shop self service u have to dump the leaf over food near the bin and place bowl in the rack . The the water just next to the trash .. so dirty ! It's not too far from where I live but there's a full line of people but none Asian . So the food is big the each bowl cost 20$ I think I never had any ramen like this before it rich flaorvor kinda burned and soy bean taste it's not my type of ramen with solice of lean pork ? They're only serve this kind no tonkatsu .also ordered The curry is good with pork cut let.
Okay, I admit it you got me with the Google reviews. I officially got scammed by five-star lies. This is hands down the worst ramen I’ve ever had in my life… and I’ve been to Japan 26 times. At this point, I need to personally meet every single person who gave this place five stars and request compensation for emotional damage and financial loss. You are all accomplices in ruining my day. I can name just about every ramen spot in Sacramento, and congratulations this one is dead last. 🏆🍜
I was told to try it by co-workers before Covid. He talked up the ramen, so this place must be under new ownership because I got the garlic ramen, and it was atrocious. I couldn't take more than 3 bites. I tried a bite of the greens, then the mushroom, then the noodles themselves. It was so bad I spat each bite out. I knew at that moment that I should stop trying to get my $20 worth out of that bad bowl of soup. My girl got the Tomato ramen and she said it tasted like it was noodles in a can of Campbell's tomato soup. WE dumped it and left without ever lo.I love ramen, but this is not it. If I could, I would get my money back. Theres $40 that I will never see again. -Why are the broths only vegetable flavored? And why did mine taste so vulgar - Why was the spoon dirty when I got it? -The chashu was just some washed up Ham -There were out Ajitama eggs(Seasoned Softboiled eggs) -Who serves unseasoned boiled eggs with ramen? -What ramen joint doesn't sell Tonkatsu?
