Come here for the food and the location. They are consistently making good and fresh food, with a great mix of standards and seasonal specialties. The location can’t be beat. I love the variety of seating. A warning though: the bar staff are surly. I thought it was just one manager, but now I see it's the whole crew. Maybe it's because they're constantly policing people who are trying to order on the Café Bernardo side and eat on the R15 side? . Don’t expect a warm reception or pleasantries in the bar, and you’ll be fine. (They tend to be more sunny on the cafe side!)

Same as midtown post, fantastic establishment with great people. Quality of food and drinks is absolutely the rather high prices. I would come more often but finances wouldn't allow that.

I love Bernardo's so much we go there often. The food is great, the atmosphere is soothing, especially the back patio, but the best thing is the service. Everyone who works there is so kind. I am especially fond of Destiny, Natalie, and Ricky. Ricky especially has a sunny disposition and always goes above and beyond what we expect. Destiny remembers our order and all our crazy specifications. Natalie is super efficient and kind. These guys make us feel like family. We really appreciate having a place like Bernardo's to go enjoy our meals and coffees.

Best Bahn Mi and Cubano in town! Love their Thai salad too--which is really an awesome, spicy noodle dish. Every meal I've ever had at Cafe Bernardo is worth a repeat.

So I got off work last night decided to walk down the hall to Café Bernardo… I walked in hoping to get something to eat and I knew it may be close to their kitchen closing… I asked a couple of guys who worked there if it was too late to get something to eat and they were so friendly and said no, go ahead and order you’ve got time…I’m respectful of that and I really appreciate how they treated me. I ordered my go-to Thai Chicken Salad which never fails and a pint of 805, sat outside, relaxed and enjoyed that amazing salad and great beer… thank you Café Bernardo!

Warm trendy venue, frendly bar staff, great food and drinks.

I have come here quite. Few times - week night pool, drinks before or after dinner, happy hour, and I have even been here to ring in the new years once. It had a great chilll vibe that nakes you want to make this your spot. I just spent some good time chatting with Blake and Delzer who gave me some good options for beers to try and just are all around very personable humans to chat with. Thank you guys for creating a wonderful experience lace to come and enjoy a few beers at! Cheers 🍻

Nice cozy place. Bar was big and stocked. Had a Jamie and Ginger. Nice place for lunch. The menu looked great and the prices were not too bad.

I enjoyed a layed back atmosphere, food, and them pool tables was a great bonus.

Great place. Excellent food and atmosphere. Awesome flavor of the food. Mexican flavors on point, tortilla was delicious, the pancakes fluffy and delicious, very surprise with the raspberry jam was a spectacular flavor. We enjoy this place.

The Thai Noodle Salad (not vegetarian) is one of my favs on the menu along with the Salmon BLT. The burgers are great too. Fries must be ordered on the side but worth the add on. Fresh ingredients which I appreciate. Parallel Parking may intimidate some folks but there's also a parking garage adjacent to Cafe Bernardo on R Street between 15th & 16th Street. I have dined in the bar area (R15) & the outdoor patio in the back. The patio in the back offers semi-privacy. There's a room upstairs that can be rented for private dining gatherings.

Established midtown Sacramento Cafe restaurant. Been my favorite for years. So many good things on the menu. Would recommend especially for lunch!

The food is superb the staff is really nice and helpful. The dining room is a bit cold due to the giant door that lets in giant blasts of cold air but other than that it is a very pleasurable dining experience

This place had amazing fresh food and wonderful customer service. The salmon salad was well balanced with no one flavor overpowering another. The salmon was cooked just right and provided a nice flavorful contrast to the lettuce and veggies (which were all crisp). I also ordered a latte which turned out to be quite large! Always a plus.

FAT 10/10 from me!! Tell the chef in the back that I’m COMMING BACK BABYYY!! sooo freaking good!! I got myself some French toast with peaches and raspberries. One of the most softest interior and crispy exterior French toast‘s I’ve ever had. It was absolutely perfect, it came with maple syrup powdered sugar and butter. The peaches were super sweet and perfect but the fresh dust was definitely the attention grabber. I had all my friends try it and everybody loved it! My only suggestion would ask for extra syrup LOL but that’s just a personal opinion. I also shared a “family” fruit, granola & yogurt bowl. Not gonna lie me and my friend were a bit disappointed when we got our food it was much smaller than we anticipated mainly because it said family so we just assumed you’d be huge. I was also at first disappointed that they didn’t have any vanilla flavor but to our surprise it was actually really good and the granola was amazing. Just a little warning for those thinking it’s a huge plate here my pictures. My friends got burgers and fries, I loved the sweet potato string fries super super good. This location has like two sections one more bar looking area and the second area looks more like a café. We were dining in the café section and the cakes looked amazing the aesthetic was beautiful and there was outdoor seating. I will definitely be recommending this place to a friends visit in California and definitely be coming back. Thank you Café Bernardo:)

Cafe Bernardo is another establishment located within three blocks of where I live which I have passed by time after time. Today was the day I finally went in and neither I nor my spouse were disappointed. Why on earth had we stayed away so long?!? The burger combo with sweet potato fries was scrumptious from the very first bite. You order from the counter, but servers come to your table with your food and drinks, and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. I was asked if I was a member of the Paragary Group's frequent diner program. When I answered "no," I was invited to sign up at once and start earning "stars" which can be redeemed for rewards. There is ample seating both indoor and outside. We have stopped in since our visit for dessert and coffee after running some errands, and the cake and confectionery items satisfied our sweet tooth to a T. This is our new favorite neighborhood place!

I tried two things and both were amazing. I got a banh mi sandwich, the meat was juicy and succulent. I didn’t expect to the sandwich to taste that great. I also order an angus beef burger that was also juicy and savory. This is a great hangout spot in downtown. The staff is very friendly and brings your order out quickly. D

My best friend and I had breakfast here. We ordered mimosas, a Bernardo Benedict and a huevos rancheros. The huevos rancheros was swimming in a bowl of black beans and the eggs were just a little undercooked. The salsa on it also tasted cheap. The Benedict however, was delightful. No muffin or biscuits here, it's served on rosemary bread which was delicious! All in all the food was better than OK, the service was good, the environment was nice, there was no wait when everywhere else was packed... it was a nice experience for a Sunday lunch and I would absolutely return for more.

We recently hosted our Speed Friending event at Café Bernardo R15, and I cannot say enough about the incredible experience! From the very first planning stages to the night of the event, everything was absolutely flawless. The manager Jennifer, along with Blake and the entire staff, went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and supported. They were friendly, kind, and created such a warm and inviting atmosphere that made our guests feel right at home. We ordered from the platter menu, and the food was delicious — fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing at a group event. Honestly I love coming here for brunch/lunch! I have been here multiple times with friends and I always get something I like. So far we've tried huevos rancheros, breakfast tacos, chilaquiles, the veggie burger, and different pizzas. Everything has been yummy! My favorite is their veggie burger and pizza. I've also gotten their chai multiple times and I prefer it hot over iced. It's very tasty and has a great level of spice without being too milky. The inside is beautiful with lots of seating and the outside seating area is perfect for brunch on a beautiful day. Sitting outside, people watching, and chatting with your friends adds onto the great atmosphere of this place. Parking can be a little tricky due to the area and how busy it can get with the other restaurants/bars. I haven't tried their other location but I recommend this one for sure! Staff have always been nice the times l've been here as well.

We love it here so much. It is a true pub - a public house. Welcoming, casual, extremely comfortable. They even have comfortable chairs! This place is for unwinding and settling in. The drink and food are so good. They go above and beyond what they have to: house-made ranch dressing, fat lardons of pork belly in the chopped salad rather than just sliced bacon, creative salads that you can combine in a sampler, a variable menu keeping things interesting. Creative twists. Fresh pappardelle with the Stroganoff. Creative cocktails. Perfect execution of everything. Fresh everything. Best french fries. The food is absolutely delicious. Friendly, welcoming staff. Doggies welcomed! Please don’t ever change. You are our favorite place in Sacramento.

First time eating here for a birthday party. Had a good time here. The tables were clean, and the floor was spotless. The food was incredible, ask for a medium well, and they delivered, and the first were as good as the burger. The waiter was kind and patient with our group. Gave us really good recommendations, and they were on point. I would really recommend this place if you want to try something new. Just watch out for parking spots because they are rare since it is in downtown.

Had a grass-fed angus burger with a side of fries and a latte. Everything was cooked to perfection and was fresh and tasty. The outdoor courtyard seating is a perfect location on sunny days and the place has a chill vibe. Brunch service was quick and wasn’t crowded.

I've walked past this place a few times without really noticing it. The other businesses nearby get crowded and loud so it's easy to miss. The parents were in town and I was looking for somewhere NOT crowded and loud and ended up here. There is indoor and outdoor seating under shady trees. The service was excellent. I'd say the food isn't exactly thrilling but it's priced fairly, tasted good, and the parents really liked it. I'd also just add for anyone wondering- there are a lot of reviews here talking about waiting in line to order which almost made me not come here because I wanted a full service sit down restaurant. I didn't actually even see a way to do a quick service walk-up order but the building is pretty big so I probably just missed it. Anyhow, I'd recommend!

I came here with my large family for a few drinks and some yummy food. There were choices for everyone. I had the Super tasty noodles and the carrot cake for dessert. I recommend both. There are Plenty of healthy options and some excellent fried food options. We enjoyed the pool tables and the beer We also enjoyed eating and cutting up on the heated patio out back. I will definitely be back.

Short lunch menu of burgers, pizza, salads, and solid entrees. I have had the pizzas, burgers, and salads. Portions are good for a hungry person and the food is prepared well and is tasty. They have a nice drink menu also. Staff wear masks but don't enforce patrons wearing them.

Been here a few times to play pool. Went early on a weeknight with the entire pool section open. On Friday and Saturday nights, it's obviously busier. Would be nice if it stayed open a little later. Most spots on this street close a little early. Had a couple appetizers that were good.

I’ve been here many times over the years, but never for breakfast. I had the huevos rancheros and they were very tasty. Mom had the scramble.

Ordered a pancake, was good however- waiters got our orders wrong initially after taking 30 minutes to get us our food and didn’t give us spoons/forks nor check on us. The restaurant itself is beautiful and clean. I enjoyed my experience overall and will likely be back

Very nice aesthetic. The Cashier and the waiter where very nice. The food was very good. The Bahn Mi bread was crunchy and delicious and the mixed green salad was to salivate over. The burger was a bit over cooked when I asked for Medium rare. The mac and cheese lacked much of the cheesy taste but was still pretty delicious. Never was offered a refill on my drink. The cookie lacked a bit more chocolate chips and need to be more of a cookie texture. Tasted more like chocolate chip bread shaped into a cookie. Again still a good cookie. Over would recommend any of the dishes except for the mac and cheese.

Really good food . The banh mi sandwich was full of exciting flavors , meat cooked to perfection, and presentation on point. I liked that the pickled carrots and cilantro were present , accounted for , and zipping with flavor. Fresh !!! The only thing I am not a fan of is that you pay first , the tipping option is presented at time of payment and then you never see a wait staff member again except when they deliver food. I tipped my normal 18-20 % thinking there was some service involved, and there was … it was called self service. I will go back for the food , I will not tip until after I am done eating. To be fair they did tell me water was on a table by the register if I wanted any , and they did refill my ice tea quickly after I caught an Uber back up to the register.

Self serve place. You order upon arrival and then they bring your food once seated. Food is never upsetting. I did try the tea they serve...very good. Great outside patio and love the pasteries they serve.

Nice breakfast restaurant in the railroad district. Lovely atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Our meals were delicious minus the eggs and potatoes being a little over salted.

I stopped by here for breakfast waiting for my car to get smogged which was about a 45 minute wait. Seating was immediate. Didn’t have to wait at all. The place was clean and well kept just like all the other Cafe Bernardo’s I’ve been to. This is my first time at the downtown location. I ordered a 2 egg scramble with side of potatoes and toast. All served pretty quick and tasted good. Service was standard. Server was nice and took my order. But waiting for the check and getting change took between 10-15 minutes. Overall, good experience dining here except for the wait at the end getting my check and my change. Restaurant (5/5). Food (5/5). Service (4/5). Value/Price Ratio (5/5). Overall experience (4.5/5).

Been coming here for years. Staff is awesome, Chelsea is amazing! Best bartender, great hospitality. The music could be a little more modern, but besides that, this place is a great vibe.

I went with a friend for breakfast and ordered Bernardo's Benedict. The food was tasty, and I especially enjoyed the clean, contemporary atmosphere. Before arriving, I thought it was a sit-down restaurant, but I didn't mind having to order the food at the counter and then sitting down. They give you a choice of indoor or outdoor seating, both areas being very nice right there on the revitalized R street. I'll be going back sometime.

Food is decent but over priced given portion sizes. Thought the wait staff appeared indifferent as if they could care less if you stayed or left if you did or didn't enjoy the food. FYI? Met friends for breakfast that was decent but pricey. Later came back for pasta bolognese and cinnamon roll. Cinnamon was best I' d had in years. Bolognese was very mall portion and it tasted and looked like leftovers

Some of the slowest service I've ever had. Food wasn't really worth the wait either, but the manager did give us a carafe of mimosas for us having to wait so long for everything, so +1 star for that. Probably will not return though. East Sac location is much better.

PRICING IS NOT ACCURATE. Everything on the menu is 3% more expensive because of "costs to keep the operation running" which would be fine if it was accurately represented by increasing the prices by 3% on the menu. Instead, in tiny text in the corner they leave a note stating 3% will be added to the bill. Thats misrepresentation and scamming.

The food was good, although nothing on the menu was particularly unique. I did like the sauce on my vegetable and grain bowl, but charging am extra $5 for a small amount of chicken seems like a lot. I felt like I could probably find similar food cheaper elsewhere. Our server was excellent - friendly, attentive, and efficient. There was plenty of nice outdoor seating, which was quite nice. I wouldn't mind going here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it either.

Had a brunch here a few Saturdays ago. Restuarant was nice, with lots of seating. Sadly the food was not worth it, small servings, not tasty, with little effort into putting it all together. Benedict's were so below average and do not get the pumpkin pancakes, so mushy and taste raw. French toast was the only thing that was actually appealing and tasty. Service was also average, no table service. You have to go order at the register and pay before you eat. Food came out fast though, even on weekend.

Nice restaurant, latte presentation was 0. Food presentation 5/5 but taste 2.5/5. Service was 3/5. Nobody came to clean our table. Nobody came to check on food or drinks. Restaurant atmosphere was 4/5. Overpriced as well.

That was the most expensive and smallest omelet I've ever hade. It was a decent omelet, needed seasoning, but expect to pay $30 a person. Ultimately not worth it. Nice space though.

We got the breakfast burrito and the french toast. Both were good but both were very lacking. The salsa verde on the burrito was like you were eating line zest on eggs. However when I ate some of the inside of the burrito it was very tasty. The french toast was good just not $11 good for two slices of toast. We also got the side of bread which was sourdough, but not the good kind, it had an acidic taste to make it "sour". Overall I'd say this place is a gamble.

Food comes cold after a long wait and I sat there and looked at the food sitting under the heat lamps. Little difficult when you have a restless toddler in tow. Easily corrected

Cafe Bernardo side was good with okay service and all that. The R15 bar side was run starkly different from the cafe and honestly just very sloppily managed. I was waiting at the bar for a long time and all three servers including what seemed to be the manager was oblivious. In terms of the actual food, the avocado bacon toast I ordered barely had any bacon. Not sure if it’s because they are too busy or just not trained, but I wouldn’t recommend this place. Went on a Sunday, so I can only imagine how bad the service gets on a weekday. During nights it’s equally as bad so really just avoid this place if you can whether it’s the cafe or R15. Barely any seating. I’d only go here for the pool but even those are over-priced. The bathroom had the silliest soap dispensers that don’t even work unless you wrestle with it. Not worth having to deal with the crazy midtown traffic. So much better options if you are willing to walk 5 minutes somewhere else.

I am known on google for my honest reviews. So I'm starting off with why such a low rating? Because this is how exactly the coffee was presented too me it was spilled all over the place. The food was the same too very bad presentation, the taste was a like a 3/5 but presentation 1. Their atmosphere and service wad great. Overal an okay place but could be great with better management.

Came by Cafe Bernardo for a quick bite. Ate on the bar side. For two, we ordered: -large kale + romaine caesar $11.75: ok. Not a lot of kale. Mainly romaine -angus burger with cheddar and fries $16.75: ok, nothing too special. -pepperoni/mushroom pizza $16: pretty good I surprisingly ordered a few ranch on the side and ended up getting charged $1.50 each. Not sure I've been charged ranch before dining in. Set up is a bit interesting. With a bar side and a more brunch/sunny vibe. Food came out ridiculously slow for an afternoon with not many tables. All the food came out at once, so the salad tasted warm and the burger and pizza were lukewarm at best. Don't think I'll be back, but if I do, I'll sit on the other side.

The best part about this restaurant was the soda and customer service. The food was nothing special, we (party of 8) came here because of the reviews but not for us. The over price burger came with no fries, seems ridiculous, they didn’t even offer an option. My daughter did not eat her Mac and cheese, she said it nasty. My brother who eats anything left half of his sandwich. We all were pleased with the customer service provided.

$21 for 3 pieces of old, not fresh, Subway quality bacon; $8 tiny fruit bowl; and latte. Wasted my money on brunch today. This was my first time eating here and I’m not inclined to go back due to the poor food quality/price/value.

Food is decent but a bit overpriced. But two the service is awful. Firstly, the counter staff (it's a walk up counter serve restaurant) remind you to tip them ... umm why when I get my own utensils, water etc? Then if you order at the counter you can't sit on the bar side ...

Unfortunately I went here last night and got a small Caesar salad, their menus don’t match the price they will enter for adding chicken (says 6.50 but they charge 8) I would suggest a menu update to reflect accurate and current prices. Beyond that it was COVERED in oil, more oil than caesar dressing. Caused me to be sick all night with an extremely upset stomach.
