I recently did a phone order and I just want to say how kind Grace is. My order is a little picky and she was patient and accommodating. Thank you so much. Their food is very very good. The mac-n-cheese is incredible.
Great vibe here. I had the dip. So yummy. And if you’re a fan of great beer, this the place. They have offerings from Russian River. I had the Pliny The elder.
I have been a loyal customer of Sellands for some time now- what truly sets it apart aside from the quality food is their amazing service. Reed M. was particularly a breath of fresh air. With such a large variety of options on this menu, he was able to answer all of my questions with a smile and was very thorough and knowledgeable. His warm personality and above and beyond service is exactly why I will be returning to this location again. The food itself arrived quickly, and was some of the best I’ve had locally here in Sacramento. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu as I’ve tried it all! I really enjoyed the banana pudding for desert. Great food and ambience, with even better people and customer service.
We are so lucky to have Sellands in our neighborhood. The kids love the pizza and there is always a delicious and healthy option for the grown ups. The remodel is beautiful and the bar is making some delicious cocktails. This review was made in connection with a Toast promotion.
My friends took me to one of their favorite restaurants while I was visiting them in Sacramento. And am I sure glad! The food was excellent. I chose the Chicken, Bacon, Jalapeno & Goat Cheese Wood-Fired Pizza. Amazing, though there was a lot of arugula, every now and then you'd get a spicier jalapeño, but the goat cheese was fantastic. My friend went with meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and she let me have a bite! The meatloaf was good, BUT the mashed potatoes have to be the best I've ever tasted. They have fresh water and citrus water available. I completed my meal by enjoying a Basil Lemon Smash cocktail and a Chocolate Mousse Bar, again both were mouth-watering. I would advise not to try to save the mousse bar for later unless you are going straight home, it does melt.
Loved eating here. The food is well made and tasty. The service is friendly and courteous. We celebrated a birthday so the desserts were very worth it as well.
I kept it simple and the results surprised me. I had the soup and salad for lunch this past week and it was nice and filling. I didn't care for the dry bread but that doesnt matter. The tomato soup was creamy and the house salad was the hit surprise. I made sure I put the soup aside to finish the salad. Ice tea was refreshing and we took it to go.
The food is delicious and the service here is above a 10 absolutely genuine and attentive. Then the atmosphere is very welcoming. But the inside can be a bit loud. Seating can be limited inside but outside you have your choice of 3 tables or a bench. Of course you understand this is most restaurants out in this part of Sacramento. So ordering ahead and making it to go is more than likely a real win.
I was walking down H St. this afternoon and noticed Sellands East Sac is open after an extensive remodel. I stepped inside to check it out and the place is beautiful! The truth is, while I've enjoyed other Sellands properties, I'd never actually been to this one before and it's only a mile from my home!
Pizza I ordered was top tier. For some reason I think this was immediately after a remodel because there was still a lot of workers from the trades in and out so this was them newly using the fire stove back up and although it took a little while and they came up and told me about the delay of having to make it three separate times all fresh each time they offered me other complimentary food while I wait so I took it and well needless to say the pizza was extremely worth the wait! Pricey food but great customer service and what I expected for the area. Pizza was the only one with white sauce they had I believe chicken and bacon topping
We came here with a party of four on a Friday night before the Epic Obstacle Course Race. You seat yourself and we found a table in the main dining area, but it was pretty busy, so I’d imagine it’s pretty difficult at peak times. Our hosts, natives of the city, were astounded and told us it was hardly ever that busy (classic them). We ordered at the counter and the price was very reasonable for two people and a dessert to split (and booze!) Lemon Chicken Breast- My wife and her high school friend both had this. The high school friend said that it was one of his favorite dishes, which just shows how much he’s grown, emotionally since graduation. Adulthood is loving lemon chicken for low it’s low carb, high protein ratio. He had it a la carte, splitting the large salad with his girlfriend. I didn’t hear any complaints about the quality from either of them and the bits I ate when they weren’t looking were delicious. Teriyaki Chicken Thigh- I chose this with a side of mashed potatoes and it was fantastic. It was lovely and juicy, with the bone in to preserve some of the flavor of the meat. The skin was slightly crisp and caramelized. It paired well with the mashed potatoes because of the great combination of salty and savory with creamy and buttery. And because anything potatoes is delicious. Asian Salad- My wife and I split this cold salad between us but I ended up eating most of it because that is my lot in life. It was similar to a Costco salad, with mandarin oranges and the sweet sesame dressing, but it had a great crunch from the purple and white cabbage. Mashed Potatoes- This is one of their more popular side dishes. It’s made from potatoes that have been “mashed”! Who knew? Broccoli- Pretty standard steamed broccoli. Inoffensive flavor and a kind-hearted, spiritually-satisfying portion. Goat Cheese and Apple Salad- The native Sacramentals ordered this and were generous enough to share an amount of it (it was massive). Lovely mix of sweet and savory. Definitely a great summer salad. Carrot Cake- While this cake was made with carrots, it does not have all the inherent health benefits one would expect. However, this is my wife’s favorite cake, so, inevitably, I ate most of it. Double Chocolate Cake- Twice the chocolate of a normal cake! What’s not to like? Overall, it was very cool experience and the staff was super helpful and patient with us, considering we made our choices and then completely threw them out when it was time to place our order. They gave great recommendations and, ultimately, helped us stop panicking and decide what to eat.
Went for lunch recently. Reminds me of Jack's Urban eats. Similar items, but they do sell pizzas, which looked good. They have a full bar, with some good bourbon selections. Our salads were fresh tasting and they are very efficient with the lunch crowd. Very tasty and reasonable prices.
Crowded, tasty, loud, busy, easy. Everyone likes this place. That's what I've heard. Be aware they won't serve from the food display case if someone else has ordered the same thing online. That is a bummer but I'm sure you can find other things to eat. You like salad, right?
We always enjoy our visits to Sellands, although there have been issues the past two visits. But let's start with the positive. Great selection of food, staff is incredibly personable and friendly, and prices -- especially during Happy Hour -- are very welcome. On the last visit, I enjoyed a Bacon BBQ Cheeseburger that was very tasty and incredibly large. Add some wonderfully cooked fries and you have yourself a great, filling meal. But my partner ordered the chicken breast entree and salmon showed up at our table again. I checked my receipt to ensure it was ordered correctly -- and it was. The server said she would change it out, but considering everyone else was ready to dive into their meals, my partner stayed with the salmon. The last time we were at Sellends, an order of four entries resulted in three showing up, and a 15-minute wait for the fourth one after we pointed out the error to the server. Sellands to too good to be making rookie mistakes like this. Beyond that, a nice place to have a meal in a lively, yet often crowded, environment.
First time at Selland’s. I’ve never been here before. Got the boys together on a Friday (11/17) afternoon. Arrived at about 11:30 which is when they open. Very easy to get to off of H street. Parking is along the neighborhood, not too difficult to find when I went there. Ordering is over the counter. Menu is posted overhead and options are what I would expect for a Cafe. The atmosphere is super casual and you pay at the register after placing your order. We grabbed an outdoor table on the east side of the building where there are plenty of seating. Food arrived within about 15 minutes of waiting or so. Food presentation is about a 5/5. Taste is about a 3/5. My burger tasted okay but came out much saltier than expected. The chef that prepared my patty definitely over-seasoned my burger. My lunch which comprised of a burger, side of fries, and ice tea with tip came to about $25… a little on the pricey side for a casual lunch. Service was fine about a 4/5. Value to price ratio is about a 4/5. And overall experience a 4/5. To sum it up, this place is an easy casual dining place to grab a bite to eat. The outdoor seating is nice but I will guess it gets pretty cold during the cold season. Would say to give this place a try but try another menu option other than the burger if sodium is of a concern. Expect to spend about ~$25 or so per person. Personally there are other cafes in the area that offer better options at the same price for a slightly better dining experience. If you find this review helpful, tap the thumbs up button below.
I came here with family before walking the Fab 40 lights. It's a nice place with outdoor and indoor dining. I have never been before but my niece has been many times. Nit knowing what to order...she told me the pizza was really good so I shared one with my mom. We ordered the combination pizza....it comes with tomato coulis, mozzarella, salami, pepperoni, sausage, red onion, mushroom, green bell pepper, black olives, I ordered with no bell peppers which was over 21.00 after tax...and if you want ranch...they charge you 1.00 for a tiny little ranch...so I brought my own to share with the table. Thats ridiculously over priced. You spend 20 bucks on a pizza and can't even get a little ranch... The pizza was just okay. Personally...I love domino's and way cheaper. My niece had the chicken pizza and loved it. Thats what she orders each time. My other niece ordered the FARMER’S MARKET $13.95 salad mixed greens, avocado, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, carrot, radish, green onion, dill, nut and seed mix, choice of dressing. She liked it...but very pricey for a salad. Overall...my family liked the place. I would not come back on my own. I have liked other places better.
The staff were very friendly. My salad was way too salty. The atmosphere sunny and pleasant but pretty noisy lunch rush.
After giving this place a chance over and over for the last fourteen years, they still somehow don’t understand the concept of hot food. The food is always warm at best. This is an overpriced buffet where nothing, and I do mean nothing, is fresh or hot. Tell me you don’t care without telling me you don’t care. You certainly will not get a cent from me again. Be better.
By far one of the worst tri-tip "dip" sandwiches. The meat was flavorless. The bun was soggy despite all "sauces" being served on the side. I was hoping the fries would save this meal....even worse. Oversalted and over-seasoned. Poor quality for the price.
I've been to selland's before the renovations and they made some really nice changes to the interior and exterior. Decided to stop by for dinner after the renovation and got their chicken thigh and a salad. The salad was good and had a good crunch. The chicken thigh, however, was slightly pink and uncooked. i left almost half on my plate but still ended up having stomach issues a few hours after dinner, and my friend who also got a chicken entree (the breast) with mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes had thrown up right after eating the leftovers the next morning. I wonder if it's because it's the late night that made their quality drop, or if it's a consistent issue. Regardless, I am not comfortable with coming back to dine in at selland's since I don't want to get sick again. So disappointed since my first impression of selland's was a good plated restaurant with fast service. But it's not surprising that they have spoiled food at the end of the night when they keep all their cooked dishes in the display case.
