Opinions de Sunny Side Breakfast Sacramento
Great brunch find in Sacramento’s underrated food scene! Expect a bit of a wait (we waited ~15 min for 2), but it’s worth it—popular spot with a fun Asian-fusion twist on classic brunch. Pro tip: join the waitlist ahead of time on Yelp to save time. The Sunnyside Espresso (OJ + espresso) was refreshing, the omurice was the star of the show, and the Yuzu Benedict was a close second. Service stayed attentive even with the place packed. Menu and vibe reminds me of Kitchen Story in Oakland and SF if you're familiar with those spots
The hubby wanted to dine here for breakfast, but today, being our day off, we ended up coming around the lunch hours. There was a line out the door which we were prepared for. The wait was maybe 10 minutes if that, all the parties ahead of us were seated right away. The atmosphere is inviting and very chill. Everyone around us was enjoying their time and food. We saw a lot of the chicken and waffle dishes being served in the majority of the tables. Since we are pescetarean, we opted for the Yuzu Benedict and Unagi Tornado Omurice. Both were very good, but the Omurice was just perfect today! The staff were so attentive and helpful to answer any questions. Tables were cleaned efficiently for other guests to dine right after the previous ones. We had to try the Lemon ricotta pancakes for dessert, which was so good too! First visit and yes, 5 stars no question!
Sunny Side Breakfast has quickly become one of my favorite brunch spots in Sacramento. It’s got a fun Thai fusion twist that makes the menu way more interesting than your usual breakfast lineup. I tried the loco moco, and it was fantastic. The flavors were rich and comforting, with that perfect balance of savory gravy and a well-cooked egg. Their pancake was another standout, fluffy and lightly sweet, the kind you keep thinking about afterward. The place has a relaxed vibe, and the food feels thoughtful without being over the top. If you’re into brunch but want something beyond the basics, this spot is worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back to try more.
Wow! Just wow! The food here definitely did not disappoint. The lemon ricotta pancakes are a 💯 must try! The matcha latte was also really good. It’s a cute little place. The only downside is that they do take a little long to make the food, but besides that, it was perfect.
The bright lighting from the large bank of windows is a wonderful way to start the day. We started with some brunch cocktails and ordered some fun things off the menu. I got a locally named croffle (which I thoroughly devoured) and Heather got a very rich poutine we were able to finish. Kristen was a pleasant server with quick service and warm smile.
Ordered the yuzu eggs benedict and tornado omurice. Both had nice asian flavors since it is a fusion restaurant. The benedict's hollandaise sauce had a nice yuzu flavor added, otherwise the rest is what you'd expect from a typical eggs benedict, and it was done well here. Potatoes were nice, round and crisp and definitely stood out more than typical hashbrowns or country fried potatoes etc. The omurice had good flavor like what you'd expect from a Japanese restaurant, and the eel was delicious as well. Tasted as good as it looked!
Went with my 3 year old we had the pancakes and I got a side of pork sausage. I want to come back and explore the rest of the menu.loved the pancakes very much so I am sure a lot of their food is just as good :) staff was kind
Cute little breakfast/lunch spot in the center of Sacramento. It's got an Asian fusion vibe and generous portions to boot. Service was good and flavors were excellent. Good quality for the price. We tried a variety of items. Loved the Unagi omurice and the loco moco.
Absolute must go for any morning/brunch time trip to Sacramento. The food is stunning to look at and savor. Not to mention the delicious mimosas, must go for anyone.
First time here. It was very busy so I would suggest you make a reservation. The service was great and food was not only delicious but aesthetically pleasing.
Second time here, and they did not disappoint. I got the Unagi Torando Omurice and my husband got the Waffles & Crispy Chicken. Delicious!
This was our first time trying this place out. At first glance, it's plane from the outside and can be missed if you're not looking for it. But if you are, you've found a diamond in the rough. We arrived early morning around 9:30am. We were promptly seated up entry. There was only one person taking orders and serving, so service was a little slow, although we weren't in a hurry. I ordered the Piggy Scramble, and my wife had Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. It was a little slow getting our food as well, but definitely was worth the wait. The food was definitely delicious! Definitely coming back to try the entire menu.

Fun variations on classic diner food in a laid back space. Food was fantastic with great portion size, we enjoyed all the drinks, and it was easy to get a table and navigate the waitlist. We had a table of six and there was probably a 30 min gap between when the first person got their food and the last person got their food, but other than that the experience was great.
Went for Sunday brunch and it was very busy but our party of 3 only waited 15-20m which wasn’t bad given there were several small parties before us. Cute industrial vibe inside and got a nice window spot. Server was visibly rushed but helpful with suggestions and good about checking on our table throughout service. We split everything three ways to just try things out. Avocado toast was delicious combo of flavors: avo, strawberry, tomato, sesame, pickled onion. Scrumptious. Then we split the lemon ricotta pancake, flavor was in the pancake and not overwhelming, just right, with nice MIs of fruit on side. We all kept taking bites in between our savory dishes. The Crispy Chicken Benedict w potatoes was a table favorite along with the unagi tornado. I’m not big on fish but did love the ginger rice, sauce, and egg combo on the tornado. The Korean burger was mid, nothing great, nothing bad, just a decent burger. From our sampling we cleared all the plates and will definitely come back to try other dishes.
I don't give out 5 stars easily. We were visiting from out of state on 1/12/26. My husband found this place. The atmosphere was pleasantly lively, bright, cozy, and warm. Our server seemed to be working alone, but she was attentive. Food was exceptional! I highly recommend
Adding Sunny Side to my early morning breakfast spots in sac (there aren't many). Tasty food and drinks - bottomless mimosas on a weekday, hey! The ricotta pancakes really are that good. The service is friendly and attentive. Saw group sizes ranging from one person to 6 pretty comfortably. No wait when we arrived at opening.
We hadn't had brunch in a while, and found this place in midtown Sacramento. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed, and there was a waitlist on Yelp. We joined the waitlist on Yelp and waited for a table. In the meantime, we went to a nearby local market event to kill some time. The wait was not too long, maybe around 15 min before we got a text saying our table was ready. We started with mimosas, which were offered by glass or bottleless; we opted for glass, and they had many flavors to choose from. I ordered the Waffle and Crispy Chicken, which is served with maple syrup. It tasted alright. The chicken was flavorful, but the crust was a bit burnt. We also tried the Unagi Tornado Omurice, which looks like their signature dish. It came with ginger fried rice, unagi, tonado egg, tobiko, pickled ginger, and unagi sauce. The portion was generous, the unagi was flavorful, and the egg indeed looked like a tornado in the center. Everything paired well with each other.
Coffee was a bit weak and didn’t match the full flavored food. Service was quick but little to no words. But I like fast and efficient only down side was we wanted a table picture because it was a birthday breakfast and we never got a chance to even ask someone. Food was good. I will definitely go back next time I’m in town.
Always love a new breakfast spot & my friend raved. Not sure we fully appreciated Thai fusion vibe, but loved ricotta pancakes & benedict. Tho my husband asks for at least one straight ahead benedict with ham! Parking not easy— be sure to read signs carefully
The wait time was about 25 minutes. The staff were all proficient and friendly. The food all came promptly. The Unagi rice was silkie and seasoned well. The bacons were perfectly seared. The pancakes were delightful, and the avocado toast could have been a little bigger minus the pickled shallots. The latte was good, mimosa was too sweet for my taste. I would probably ask for the passion fruit syrup on the side next time. Overall good experience and the food was good. Small restaurant so expect to wait a little bit. Follow @Only1ChristineLu

The food was good. the service was non-existent. We had two interactions with our waitress. One to order and then again when I had to physicallyy go and tell her that we needed boxes and our check. She did not bring drinks. our drinks came after the woman who ran out food realized that there were no drinks on our table. mind you, one was just a child apple juice, the other, a mimosa. It was pretty ridiculous. The food came out quickly. Don't know that I would recommend.
The food made up for the service. My fiances sandwich came out about 10 solid minutes before my meal. A cup of coffee and a canned beer took 15 minutes minimum. This place was completely understaffed for a Friday mid morning shift there were 2 servers and no bussers & the place had maybe 3 tables open. I think with better service this place could have great potential.

No frills. Water was already pre-poured by the dozens and anytime somebody walked in they would bring it to them. Room temperature water. Waited a really long time to order my meal after I was seated. Ordered a scramble and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate just taste like it came from a packet but cost five dollars. And the scramble was good, but I’m not a fan of potatoes being cooked the way they were cooked. They’re too big and not cooked as well as I would like. So if you like breakfast potatoes, really dense and potaty and not cooked hard all the way through then I guess you would enjoy it, I personally don’t enjoy eating my breakfast potatoes with a knife and fork. Additionally, know flavor profile. Essentially paid $30 for vary subpar meal.
