Just wanted to come on here and recognize our amazing bartender Aaron for being observant and aware of a potentially dangerous situation! This evening at about 0030 a car carrying 3 young patrons entered the parking lot. I noticed him come out from behind the bar and focus on the vehicle thru the security camera as they had difficulty parking and exhibited suspicious behavior before entering. He was diligent and checked each of their ID's before letting them enter the bar. Each of them proceeded straight to the restrooms. After, the male from the group attempted to purchase drinks for him and his group and was denied service. Rightfully so, seeing that all 3 of them were already highly intoxicated before arrival. The chaos that unfolded afterwards was completely uncalled for and potentially dangerous to myself and the other patrons at the bar. Each of the members of the young group proceeded to trash the bar knocking over and throwing whatever they could get their hands on. Other patrons of the bar closest to the suspects proceeded to force them out the door before further damage could be done. All 3 of them attempted to come back in a second time but the door had already been locked. After they left the parking lot the male of the group attempted a third time to kick the door and get back inside again. But was unsuccessful and eventually left. I say all that to give kudos to Aaron and staff for how they handled it this evening! And also to say that this 1 negative event has not changed my opinion of this place and will continue coming here for a stiff drink on a regular basis! THANK YOU BOLT OHANA FOR ALL YOU GUYS DO!!!!

Best LGBTQ scene in the greater Sacramento area. Bathrooms are not exactly trans friendly. Leather and levis are the standard but it's a relaxed environment. You don't need to be in chaps to get it. Great backyard area.

I went on a preeeety weak night. Bartender was friendly af, and drinks were strong and cheap. I consider myself an advocate of LGBT rights, but had never been to a gay bar outside of DC. This one was dope.

The times I've gone to this bar I've had a good time. The atmosphere and attitude is calm and laid back. The bar welcomes all kinds. Everyone is apt to have a good time.l

It is a nice place to socialize and be with your friends, or acquaintances, safe and friendly environment, secure where you can be yourself. On Sundays they have complimentary BBQ and beer bust.

Good hangout...back patio with a fire pit. Drinks are reasonable, but you can't use your debit card...gotta get cash from ATM. 2nd time I went to local gay bar that prefers cash!

Crowd is busiest towards the weekend or after work more of a leather bar or for bears but generally a pleasant crowd

Negatives: Been to this bar several times and it’s hard to go as a loner. Although this bar boast inclusiveness. It actually hard to approach other patrons as it seems more than half already have groups and stick together. Weekdays are slow and the few patrons are kind of forced to talk to Each other, which is a good way to get to know some people and make connections. But if you go on alone on busy nights, weekends or theme nights out of curiosity, be prepared to be a loner all night. Unless someone takes interest in you, from either finding you attractive or from a kink perspective, and then strikes up a convo. I really hoped Bolt Bar Sacremento would be different but it is clique/click-ish just more subtlety so. Everyone is welcome of course and bartenders are diverse of different ages and races and body types which was nice to see. it just felt like alot of patrons choose to only see their friends or people they were attracted to. Positives: On a kinkier side I have seen some pretty sexy stuff go down here that was fun to watch. All the bartenders I’ve had have been super friendly, quick to serve and accommodating. If you can’t find someone to talk to there is a Dart machine, a pool table, and multiple TVs (playing atleast 3 different things a couple of different “adult movies” and tv programs. They also have security cams that cover their parking lots, which is cool. Kink events taught here were inclusive, when I went, and where fun and informative. but once the group lesson ended, that inclusive feeling waned quickly and most instructors and seasoned patrons went to their preferred groups. I saw many of new people standing in back corner wishing to be apart of the group with wanting eyes. but don’t fret if you’re hot, or someone finds you hot, or you fit their particular kink you definitely might get an invite to the cool kids table😅🤣.

Walked in. Stood at the bar to order a drink. Was straight up ignored for 5 minutes by the bartender. Ended walking out as the bartender proceeds to serve others that came in after me.

Not appreciated with extremely rude staff for charging too much on drinks without letting me know. I’m deaf and I was trying to communicate with them about the transaction. They told me to leave without solve this issue. They do not have any empathy or compassion for deaf people. Unacceptable!!

I wish this would let me post zero stars. Unfortunately I have to at least give it one star to allow me to post. I would've given 5 stars straight up cause I love this bar but after tonight You can thank one bartender, Bolt Bar. I don't know his name but he is popular. He is a white, bald guy with short almost stubble, light brown sorta reddish/stawberry beard and loght colored eyes. Grey or blue I was waiting to order and the guy in front of me kept on kissing the bartender and flirting with him well after he already got his drinks and passed them to his friends. The bartender didn't even charge him cause he was getting kisses and flirts. The bartender finally asks my drink even though he is still paying attention to the guy before me. I give him my order, he grabs one drink and then is interrupted by that same guy again and starts kissing him and flirting again right infront of me. Meanwhile there is a long line behind me. The bartender finishes and comes back to me and forgets what he was getting me. I told him to forget it and left. The Bolt just lost very good business tonight

I was brutally attacked and racially profiled! I came in with hopes to use the restroom and was thrown out and pushed to the ground! I am hurt and was humiliated! This is a horrible establishment very disrespectful

Unfortunately this place has become less and less of a gay leather bar over the years, and their events are boring now.

We’ve been to all the Sac gay bars and my friend was stoked to finally find a bear/leather club. Well, upon arrival, our group of four (two gays, and two bisexual gal pals) sit ourselves at the bar. We waited for about 7 minutes, noticed otheres who walked up after us were getting served first but just figured the bar tender was overwhelmed or just being human. He comes over, checks mine and my friends IDs, seems all good, then goes to my other two friends checks their IDs…. Says hmmmm you don’t look like the picture (to both individuals) and asked them to state their drivers license number to which they say can you ask anything else cause who knows by heart? and the guy walks away and says nah I’m not serving yall get out. I say well if they’re out, we’re also out. I tried to reason with the bar tender and defend my friends since nothing like this has ever happened before to us going out (again we’re a group who goes to the bars in midtown weekly). The bartender ignored me and wouldn’t talk with me… so we all left. My friend, the bear one, was teary eyed and defeated and felt like they’re still not enough even in communities that claim to be welcoming. I’ve never wrote a review…. But my friend is hurting today and I’m hurting for them. Night turned from excitement to complete shatters. I’d like to mention my friend has also gained some weight from the time they’ve had their ID picture taken…. But their picture still looks like them…. I’ve worked door checking IDs and worked in a pawn shop where I also had to check IDs multiple times a day…. The whole situation and the way the guy handled it felt targety and discriminatory. I was co workers with this individual…. My prior sub-ordinate turned life long friend. We have tons of pictures throughout the years, at work, at bars… We came to this space to help our bear friend come out of their shell, left with them more in their shell than ever. Bartenders name is Aaron. Aaron- I hope soap always gets in your eyes every time you wash your face. May your tea and coffee always burn your tongue. And I hope when you sleep at night it always feels like the blankets are wet. We took our business to The Merc after and the bartender was blown away at our story. I share this story as a cautionary tale to new patrons- be prepared if you have gained weight Arron the bartender might ask you for your drivers license number -_-
