Vitalant in Las Vegas receives mixed reviews. Many donors praise the friendly and professional staff, especially Crystal. However, some report negative experiences with rude staff, long wait times, and incessant phone calls after donating. Some also had issues with donation eligibility.
Tip: Appointments are recommended, but be prepared for potential wait times and confirm eligibility requirements beforehand.

Thru blood testing I found out I am allergic to eggs and chicken ......I love both .....but I cut off that food drastically
I've donated 43 times with Vitalant going clear back to when they were United Blood Services. They are great people who always seem to be happy, while demonstrating a high level professionalism. I've never had a single bad needle stick either! Thanks for being awesome and saving lives, Vitalant!
I went to this location to give blood for the first time ever and everyone working there was truly amazing!! From when I first walked in the woman at the check in desk was great! Very patient and professional and also Crystal set me up with my blood donation and was simply awesome!! Super patient, friendly, professional and answered all my questions which I really appreciated since it was my first time donating blood. Thank you Crystal for making my experience so wonderful!! I would like to also thank another woman that helped me towards the end of my donation. She was amazing too!! Thank you to everyone that helped me today. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to donate blood! They will be gentle and are true professionals!!!
Haven’t donated in a long time. Shame on me. Getting back in the habit was super easy at this location. Appointment was convenient and process was easy. Staff were super cool and you could tell they were there for the people who donate.
Had the pleasure of donating here about two weeks ago for the first time at this location, and I very much felt welcomed and at home here! Everyone was super friendly and professional.
The staff are nothing short of professional, and they are so very kind and caring to each one of their donors. Each time I've given blood, they remind me how many peoples life's I have saved by giving blood. Sure seems like a small price to pay by giving a half hour of my time to know I've saved someone's life. What a wonderful feeling! Thanks to all the people that make donations happen! :)
I don’t like needles, even after 52 years of being alive, a few hospitalizations, and many pain medication injections related to my two spinal cord injuries, but I have a very high platelet count, so I donate a few of them every four to eight weeks or so. Everyone is always very courteous, and I’m still impressed that the receptionist recognizes me and calls me by name when I arrive, even though I’m not here that frequently. Once in a while I get a less-experienced (or less-careful) phlebotomist that inserts the needle fairly painfully, but most of them are pretty good. The Fast Track health history questionnaire desperately needs to be fixed. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn’t render the last page. The only other problem that I can think of is that there’s always a wait of at least 15 minutes, to be called, even though I always have an appointment.
Done with this place. They blow you up begging for donations but close at 3 pm and are closed Mondays? Something doesn’t seem right about that. Weird business hours… in any case, I’m telling them to lose my number next time they call.
Two stars removed because of the incredibly atrocious point system they have for donating blood. 200 points for donating whole blood. Adult rate I would need to donate 3 1/2 * just to get a 10-dollar Amazon gift card. You would think we could get a little more value for our blood since it's sold at a much higher price to hospitals. At least with red cross, they give you 10 to $15 per donation. One star removed because of the front desk friendliness. It's a hit or miss on which receptionist we get and how friendly they are. Besides the negative above, the positive is that all the nurses I have experienced who have drawn my blood have always been very kind and friendly.
While everyone works, this location is nice. It is clear that the workers do not pay full attention as I will show you in my video when a needle was inserted in my vein and the valve was turned incorrectly for the blood to not even flow out of me this created bruising, which I will show in this picture. This is absurd you do this 40 times a day. Pay attention. The damage this creates with scar tissue in the vascular system will continue after the donation happens until the body repairs it this is ridiculous. That is a full 12 hours after the donation.
Terrible mobile blood donation service. Will not donate my O neg Blood using this service. Closed 1 hr early - I drove my wheelchair to the library in Mesquite to donate, following their published hours of operation. The mobile blood bank vehicle left at 1:10 pm PDT MONDAY, Oct 20, 2025
I donated with Vitalant about two years ago and have received regular calls asking me to donate again since then. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I'm not able to donate at this time. When I answered a recent call to explain this, the representative spoke very quickly, interrupted me, and ended the call before I could fully respond. She also mentioned that the reason I've been receiving so many calls is because I haven't donated recently, and suggested that donating more often would reduce the calls. This approach felt dismissive and left me feeling pressured rather than supported. I have no issue with Vitalant's mission and appreciate the work they do, but I think the communication style during phone outreach could be improved. Donors should feel respected and heard, even if they aren't currently able to contribute.
Just a warning, they will call you non-stop. And with different phone numbers. I donated twice, 1 time in high school and then in college. I ask them to stop calling , and they stop, but for a little bit. And sure enough, they start calling again and again.
I want to start off by saying I have never written a negative review ever, so the fact I’m taking the time to do this just shows the lack of professionalism I experienced today. My appointment was at 6:30 PM, showed up around 6:40 PM so I will take responsibility for being late, I get to the front desk, stood there for about 45 seconds-1 minute. The receptionist did not greet me or acknowledge me being there at all. When I asked her if she wanted me to take a seat she stated that I had to speak to her and give her one second. I wait until she pulls my appointment up. She proceeds to ask me if I am on trt, due to my prior appointment on July 2nd getting kicked back due to high iron count for power red. Why is the recpetionist asking me health questions I need to be answering on the questionare? Is this not clearly violating HIPAA? I tried a new supplement I was taking everyday for four weeks prior to my appointment called burdock root which raised my blood count and iron count which I was unaware of at the time. A white top heavy set phlebotomist with glasses came up to the receptionist and both parties were gossiping right in front of me that theres no supplement that raises blood and iron count, how about you do a simple good search on a supplement versus making assumptions, and actively gossiping in a customers face. None the less that was extremely disrespectful but it does not stop there. I made simple conversation with the phlebotomist pricking my finger and just asked if she enjoys her job and what she likes about it. This phlebotomist had red hair, she states yes she enjoys this job, and also stated she likes her job because she likes the verbatim word she used “power” she feels when she inserts needles into people. I thought it to be a joke until the blood draw part. She rubbed me the wrong way with her cocky demeanor like she knows exactly what she is doing. As she is inserting the needle into my left arm I felt a blunt pain not the sharp pain you usually feel with a needle, I look down and the needle is very close to being fully imbedded into my vein, could only see about 20% of it. Blood started to come out but then stopped. Another phlebotomist comes over and says the needle is too far in. I just want to add I have very visible veins and am vascular so finding my veins is not an issue. They offer to me I either get the needle moved around in my arm or to just go home. Excuse me? I drove 35 minutes to get here, but hey since we failed just go home. I honestly was in disbelief at the lack of empathy and no sort of apology was given for messing up the first needle. It was clear it was improper technique by the employee but instead of apologizing admitting she messed up they started to make excuses saying since I am a musclar individual the muscle interferes eith the blood draw. I almost laughed I am not a huge male, I am 5’9 about 180 pounds, I have donated to vitalant multiple times and no other phlebotomist has had issues with drawing my blood, if anything I have gotten compliments on how visible my veins are. At this point due to how bad the service was I wanted to leave, but I still wanted to donate, so I allowed the phlebotomist to move the needle around and that failed as well. I then told them to just do the other arm, so the other arm was inserted properly by a different phlebotomist because the other one(red hair) wanted to talk all big game but then proceeded to fail and my guess was she was ashamed by messing up but didnt want to take any accountability or simply say sorry, If I had received an apology today, I wouldnt be witing this review but due to all the other circumstances I dealt with today, other people coming to the clinic need to be aware of what I experienced so they dont get that same treatment. I will never be going to this location, due to the lack of professionalism lack of respect. How am I going in healthcare clinic but being treated worse than a fast food resturaunt please explain that. I will resort back to donation vans because I’ve only had good experiences with those.
On June 15, 2025, between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:00 am, I visited the Vitalant blood donation center located at 6930 W Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada, following an early morning workout. I made the decision to donate a whole bag of blood and appreciated the staff's willingness to accommodate my request without a prior appointment. Upon my arrival, I approached the front desk, where an administrator promptly verified my eligibility to donate blood through their system. After completing this verification, I was instructed to take a seat and await further assistance from a phlebotomist. After an approximate wait of 25 minutes, a young African American phlebotomist called me to her station. She began the process by collecting my personal information and measuring my vital signs, including blood pressure. I noticed that the blood pressure cuff was improperly applied, which raised concerns regarding the accuracy of the reading and my overall comfort during the procedure. The phlebotomist subsequently collected a blood sample via a finger stick, which is a standard part of the initial screening. Following this, I was directed to answer a series of questions on a computer and was instructed to wait an additional 10 minutes for the next stage of the process. When the phlebotomist returned, she expressed her apologies for the delay and explained that the center was experiencing staff shortages, which contributed to the prolonged waiting times for donors. From the onset of my visit, I perceived a distinct lack of warmth and acknowledgment from the staff. The personnel greeted me with minimal engagement, which created an uninviting atmosphere for potential donors. This could deter individuals who might otherwise consider donating blood. As a medical student, I took note of the phlebotomist's technique during the blood collection. I observed that she applied the tourniquet around my upper arm too tightly and left it in place for an extended duration, which resulted in numbness in my left arm due to restricted blood flow. My concern escalated as she seemed to prioritize logging into her computer and preparing the necessary tools over ensuring my comfort and safety. I ultimately had to communicate my discomfort to another phlebotomist who was assisting a different donor to regain her attention. I was disappointed by the initial phlebotomist's lack of urgency and attention to proper blood collection protocols. Rather than focusing on my comfort as a donor, her attention appeared to be diverted to administrative tasks, a practice that is inappropriate in such a setting. Upon my departure from the facility, I felt a considerable sense of disappointment. It became evident that the staff at this location lacked the fundamental practice of expressing gratitude towards donors as they exited. An acknowledgment and a simple thank you can substantially encourage a sense of appreciation among those who take the time to donate blood, as it reinforces the significance of their contribution in potentially saving lives.
This place is terrible and a scam. They go to your local highschool for blood donations and a promise of a graduation cord but that is not exactly the case.. my daughter was told that she would receive a cord for her graduation if she donates twice within a YEAR(2023). Unfortunately, the second time she donated her blood the same lady told her that she would not get a cord because she has to donate twice in the same SCHOOL year (fall 2023-spring 2024) This was not explained the first time and after telling her she would not receive her cord they still took her blood. And when my daughter questioned this person she was given attitude and was dismissed. Please stop emailing my child for her blood donation . She will not be using your service. Clearly fall 2023 to spring 2024 is 9 months. My daughters blood type is universal and you people are being ridiculous over a piece of fabric tied into a rope. Seriously???
I have been with them for a few years. I had a confirmed appointment with them I set on line. I drove across vegas only to be told they don’t take day-of appointments and they turned me away. They say blood is needed but turn people away.
I donated blood during the pandemic to help do my part. Then the phone calls began, asking me to donate repeatedly. They started becoming incessant. I have requested countless times that they stop calling and told them I would donate when I have time. Two and and half years since they began, the harassing phone calls continue. I will never donate blood to Vitalant again.
This place is real joke. Even with appointment, I spent one hour waiting before anyone talk to me, then they told me I am not good for donor because I was born in Europe/ been in European country more than 5 years. This was because of some extremely rare disease (which I don't have, of course, and which you can have anywhere on this planet anyway), in the same time millions of Americans are from Europe. So they need blood donors but cut half of potential donors because they are from Europe? I don't get it. Do they believe donors from Asia or Latin America have better blood?
Yeah: my Dad and I (both O+) went to the facility on W Charleston and were treated SO POORLY!!! I've never seen such RUDE staff to volunteers/donors. We waited around for over an hour with absolutely NO WORD or update and no one in chairs actually giving blood. We left disgusted and offended. They are disorganized, rude, and abrasive. They certainly don't seem concerned about this alleged "blood shortage".
