I had brunch at Hill’s Kitchen today and was genuinely impressed. The food was absolutely delicious — the flavors had depth and balance, and every dish felt thoughtfully crafted. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the space itself is really charming. But what stood out the most was the service. Every staff member was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. This is honestly one of the best brunch experiences I’ve had in Salt Lake City. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be coming back!
We hosted a baby shower on the gorgeous outdoor patio and had a great experience. The space was beautiful—firepits, mood lighting, and a cozy fireplace. The food and mimosas were delicious, and they even surprised us with the cutest theme-matching cupcakes. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the event so fun and well-organized. I would highly recommend Hill’s Kitchen for any special event!
Finding yourself in Hill’s Kitchen is a required experience! The food, drinks, service, location, and atmosphere are ideal. Sugarhouse just made it to the next level and you shouldn’t miss out. Try the Brazuca steak for a delicious gluten free option.
First time coming. A friend lives nearby. We came for brunch and got the sunny side up bowl, some drinks. Staff were so nice and the ambience is so fun. Plenty of gluten free options. Gf toast and the like.
I can’t believe this pizza is gluten free! This is the best pizza I had ever had. The food is excellent especially for the price. I love all the gluten-free options. Fun atmosphere, I have found my new favorite place to eat. Everyone is so kind And the staff is knowledgeable about the gluten-free options.
This place is classy and comfy at the same time. Such an inviting atmosphere. They really cater to your nourishment and mentle senses. They are supportive of your fur babies offering several items for your pup! The food is delicious. Prepared with flavor and plated beautifully.
Amazing customer service and amazing pastries and food. The pretzel dog with a side of queso was so delicious and the fruit tart was so refreshing and perfectly sweet. I love how the atmosphere was so welcoming and comfortable. The coffee is delicious! Im addicted to the iced mocha. They have so many delicious dessert options I can't stop coming back for more. And they have the cutest display cakes! Definitely my new favorite casual eating spot!
Their biscuit breakfast sandwich made me believe in god. I’ve been praying for this offering in Salt Lake City for years and no where has compared. Thank you for bringing the worlds best biscuit sandwich here. It’s perfectly dense, loaded with bacon, the egg isn’t runny (unless your into that sort of thing) and has extra fixings of arugula and pickled onion to round it out as the best sandwich ever. Their location is super accessible, priced well, sign up for rewards because their great, and the employees are always so friendly and service is quick.
Such a great addition to the Sugarhouse area! The atrium area is beautiful & cozy, service was friendly & the food and drinks were amazing! We got the HK sandwiches, iced matcha and a smoothie & everything was delicious. We can’t wait to go back and try other dishes & treats!
Don’t let this fast casual restaurant scare you away. The vibes are immaculate. The service is so good. The food was top-tier. We ate it all and they allow cute puppies and big doggies. Definitely check this place out for delicious food and fun vibes casual. Can’t wait to try next door
My two kids, 5 and 9, go here every other Saturday while my wife gets her eyelashes done nearby. Don't let the fancy look fool you, this is actually a GREAT place for kids! They love the cinnamon rolls, and they even have monthly cookie decorations for kids that we have a great time going to in the evening. I usually get one of their fantastic lattes and a croissant, and we play some of the games they have on hand. Whether you want a fancy protein bowl or a burger that is so, so good, a nice hot latte and a little cake, or just want to kill an hour while you're in Sugarhouse with your your kids, pop on in to Hill's Kitchen! You'll be really glad you did.
It was the morning after Halloween, Saturday to be exact. My head was pounding, my stomach queasy. I forced myself to get out of bed and touch grass. As I was looking up nearby places to grab a bite I stumbled upon Hill’s Kitchen. I had never been but the reviews were promising. I was fighting for my life on the drive there. As I entered the building it felt as if I had stepped into heaven. All the employees were so friendly and welcoming- I had to lower my sunglasses to make sure what I was experiencing was real life. The barista that I chatted with, Nieve, was so knowledgeable and helped me craft the perfect order as it was my first time there. I’ve never met anyone who knew so much about coffee as her, it was incredible. Bonus points- she loves Benson Boone as much as I do. My headache and nausea subsided quickly after my first bite/sip. My experience was life changing and I can’t imagine eating anywhere else for the rest of my life!
The vibe here is awesome, with a cool design and plenty of room. It's not one of those super "woke" coffee shops, just regular and classy. The coffee's good too. The only thing that could be better is the service. The servers weren't very friendly or knowledgeable about the drinks.
Our server was great. I had an amazing burger. I know that sounds weird, but it was fantastic and so am I fries! My date had a steak and it was topped with fingerling potatoes, and an amazing garnish. He was floored and amazed!! The server was incredible and very attentive, we will come back for sure! In fact, we’re coming back tomorrow with a party of 10! 💕
Hills Kitchen is now a staple in my household! The food, the service, and the coffee are great. I recently had the cranberry margarita while waiting for a table next door and it did not disappoint! Negley is always so kind and welcoming to us every time we come in.
Today was my first day eating at Hill‘s kitchen, and it was amazing! The quiche, the pastries, and the coffee were excellent. Not to mention the customer service. Whoever helped me was so nice and polite. It was a young girl with short blonde hair. I would like to give her a shout out! I will definitely be back because of the customer service!
Hills Kitchen is one of my favorite breakfast spots. The pastries are divine, but the coffee is my favorite—and I’m extremely picky when it comes to espresso drinks. Seth is a super talented barista, his drinks are consistently delicious, and he is always friendly and fun to talk to. Overall, my experiences at Hills Kitchen have been very positive.
Hill's Kitchen in Sugar House has become my new favorite place to remote work and they have hands down the best chai tea! Neive (sp?) provided great customer service and gave me a second on the house for saying how much I liked it. Will definitely go back for the quiche and cruffin too!
It is a rare and refreshing experience to encounter someone who embodies both professionalism and genuine kindness as seamlessly as Devin does. During my visit to Hill's Kitchen in Salt Lake City I had the distinct pleasure of being assisted by him and I must say, it was an experience that left a lasting impression. From the moment I arrived Devin's attentiveness and warm demeanor were immediately apparent. Not only did he guide me with remarkable expertise and a keen knowledge of the menu, but he also took the time to ensure that I felt comfortable and valued as a guest. His ability to balance a busy work environment with such personalized service speaks volumes about his character and skill. Beyond the obvious competence Devin demonstrated in his role there was an unmistakable sincerity in the way he interacted. It’s clear that he takes immense pride in his work at Hill’s Kitchen and it’s equally clear that his professionalism is matched by his genuine care for the people he serves. He made a positive impact on my experience and I could not have asked for a more gracious and thoughtful individual to help me during my time there. In short, Devin is a standout not only for his expertise but for his rare combination of humility, competence, and warmth. He is an asset to Hill's Kitchen and any establishment would be fortunate to have someone of his caliber on their team. P.S. You guys have amazing cosmic brownies and other desserts, love going here :)
Had a great breakfast this morning at Hill's Kitchen. I got the avocado toast and a vanilla latte and it was delicious. Seth was our server and he was very attentive and helpful. This might be my new favorite place!
I come to this cafe most mornings and it's great. The food is great, the atmosphere is amazing vibes, and the workers are nice. On my way out today - I met some of the ownership group and they are amazing. Makes me want to support the local hill's kitchen even more now that I know who is behind it.
Cozy coffee houses are definitely my jam, and I have several favorites in the area, but Hill’s is at the top of the list. Businesses like this add so much to the community for simple people like me. I enjoy coffee and a quick bite one or two mornings a week while I work at Hills and it’s my favorite morning of the week. When you start with the foundation of a really beautifully curated space and a super friendly staff, you’ve done a lot of things right. Really pleased that you’re here 🙏🏼
What a great addition to sugarhouse. Classy yet affordable dining experience with great service and the perfect mix of creative and homestyle cuisine. Negley and Sebastian were so kind to my spouse and I.
Came in for a coffee this morning and was very pleasantly surprised. This place is great. Good food, beautiful establishment and Nieve absolutely made my day. She was so kind and had such a positive attitude. Will definitely be coming back.
Cozy Vibes & Great Value! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hill House was such a pleasant surprise! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was calm, cozy, and super inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. The staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, which made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. As for the food? Delicious and very fairly priced, great quality without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for a chill spot with a great vibe, kind service, and tasty food, this is absolutely it. ⸻ 🌿 Atmosphere: Soothing & welcoming 💁♀️ Staff: Friendly, thoughtful, and attentive 🍽️ Food: Tasty & well-priced 🔁 Would I come back? Definitely, next time I’m in Utah!
Hill’s Kitchen is one of those spots that feels instantly reliable the moment you walk in. The space is clean, bright, and welcoming, with a steady flow of locals that tells you the kitchen knows what it’s doing. Service is friendly without being overbearing.. everyone moves with purpose. The menu leans classic American comfort with a fresh, modern touch. Portions are generous but not sloppy, and everything tastes like it was made by someone who actually cares about seasoning.
One of my favorite places to go work! The location is convenient, the coffee is so good, and the pastries are unreal! The staff is so kind and attentive, and Negley is always so welcoming. I recently saw one of the managers, Lucy, training new baristas and she was creating such a good environment behind the counter that spilled over into the restaurant. Highly recommend Hill's to anyone passing through the Sugarhouse area!
I live at The Residences at Sugar Alley and I’m in here everyday! By far the best restaurant staff in town. I usually see Lucy or Lizzie, depending on the time of the day! I always get the velvet cinnamon roll for breakfast and the root energy drink with lotus and ginger. Love this place! I wouldn’t call this a pizza place, but they also have some of the best pizzas in town. It’s the crust for me! 🍕
The food and atmosphere were absolutely incredible. We got the fish tacos and the HK burger and both were divine! The burger was cooked perfectly and you could tell they use fresh ingredients on everything. Went for a quick dinner on our date night and it was perfect. Nothing sat too heavy either. Will definitely be coming back!
My new favorite coffee shop in SLC to work at. They have two large coworking areas, and on one side every chair has its own plug. It is so nice. The food is phenomenal, and you have to try the quiche. I love that they offer a full menu along with great baked goods. The whole space feels cozy and really well designed.
- Cold brew was watered down and they ran out of pumpkin and Irish cream. - Smoothie was great but was over priced for the size. It was maybe less than 10oz - Vibes are nice - Friendly service
Hill's Kitchen is such a sweet new addition to the Sugarhouse neighborhood. It's a great spot if you want to stop in for a grab-n-go bite or hang out with friends. I've even seen folks posted up with laptops working, sipping on a hot drink. The food is good but there were some issues with our order, I think the kinks are still getting worked out. It's a great spot to pop by and everything our group ate was delicious (avo toast with egg, cinnamon bun, breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito) go check it out!
Good option for both quick lunches on your own, or longer lunches to catch up with friends. I had never been here before so was a bit confused on ordering or whether we needed to clear our own plates. Hopefully I did it the right way 😆
The overall experience was good. I would recommend coming here as a nice work/study location and meeting with mixed professional and friendly acquaintances. Here's a breakdown of factors I considered. 1. The food - Quality and taste would be at a 4/5. I ordered their fall brioche donut, the breakfast sandwich, a chocolate banana protein smoothie with extra protein, and a fall latte. The pricing is above average, as my total for the 4 items was $36. I was neutral negative about the food to price ratio, but was still fair enough for me. 2. Atmosphere - Simple and solid structures in natural and neutral coloring with very well placed lighting to illuminate the entirety of the restaurant without any glare via a primary use of ambient lighting. Lighting is a soft yellow, which I think is a great choice for the above mentioned purposes. There are three primary areas of the location to choose. There is a more quiet and isolated area for working, an open area for meeting with people, and an outdoor patio area for meeting people and having dogs. 3. Utilities available to customers. The Internet speed was fantastic. I had a peak of 100 mbs and average of 30 mbs on a weekend with plenty of people on the Internet. Restrooms were clean and well maintained. Electrical plugs were abundant in the secluded area on the bench, and mediocre quantities in the other 2 area.
Probably won’t be back, which is unfortunate because the atmosphere was really cool but the chicken tenders were all burnt (and small portions but that’s everywhere now) and the steak bowl lacked a flavorful steak. The rest of the bowl was good but the steak was underwhelming. Overall let down but maybe we need to try another meal-time.
The pizza was mediocre at best maybe because it was slightly cold? It looked yummy though. The quinoa salad lacked flavor and was comparable to a prepackaged salad. Perhaps the other food is better? The ambience was nice though.
This place is fine, but nothing special. I’ve been a few times and it’s always cold and drafty. They don’t validate parking for the underground garage, which is kind of annoying. I’ve tried their pizza, quinoa salad, and some of their baked goods. Nothing was bad, but not as good as I’d expect for those prices.
Honestly not as impressed as I hoped to be. We got a breakfast sandwich on homemade biscuit and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was decent, but the biscuit was so dry and hard on the outside that it ruined the otherwise perfectly acceptable sandwich. I was surprised as so many other reviews commented on the lovely biscuits. Maybe they used stale ones or there was an issue with the batch? Needless to say I didn't finish my food and I doubt I'll be back.
Since Hill’s has opened in Sugar House, I’ve stopped in for coffee to go regularly. The service is consistently slow. Most recently, I waited over 15 minutes for 2 coffees when there were no other customers and 3 staff behind the counter. In the past, I’ve had to wait 10+ minutes for cold brew, something I’d expect to be prepared when it is ordered. I will be back if I am looking for a leisurely breakfast or lunch. I will go elsewhere for to go coffee.
Atmosphere is 10/10 for Hills Kitchen but the staff is absolutely atrocious. There are about 10 people working behind the counter and yet it takes them forever to turn out a cup of coffee. We watched the barista take over 5 minutes to make a simple iced coffee, don't even get me started on anything more complicated. The staff seem more interested in chit chatting with each other than helping each other get work done. We ordered three beverages and it took 20+ minutes to get our drink while watching all the other stuff flit around her like they're just there to hang out and the barista was completely unapologetic and unaware. No one there seemed to have even the slightest sense of urgency walking around. If you cannot train your staff to handle the traffic of a coffee shop, don't make your concept a hybrid QSR / cafe concept. Or stop hiring 19 year olds that don't know how to make a cup of coffee without looking at the order screen every 15 seconds. The barista seemed like she'd never made any drinks before and there was no one there trying to help her. If you're here for the atmosphere, just plan to be there waiting for 20 minutes before you see a crumb of food or bev. Even their Park City location has much better service in a town that's known for having "ski bum level service." Save yourself the irritation and literally go anywhere else until they figure out how to train their staff to do their jobs.
Beautiful building, alright food, but very disorganized staff. I was wondering why this establishment had so many low star reviews and it makes sense after visiting just once. At this point I think it’s a management issue, the staff aren’t doing what they should and I feel like the management is complacent in recognizing that their team is bringing a dissatisfying experience. there are so many employees like at least 6 in the front of the bar and another 5 in back and 2 others bussing tables, this restaurant obviously doesn’t have a problem with hiring since they can afford hiring so many people on staff. However my cold brew still took 10 minutes to get. This was infuriating as cold brew only takes 10 seconds to pour and put ice and water in. I understand places can be busy but I was staring at what looked like two managers standing next to the order kiosk and the cold brew but were just socializing and looking at their phones the whole time. Completely unaware that they could fulfill a simple order right in front of them. This behavior most likely inspires the staff and why so many people have complained with staff standing around and not doing anything where they should. And the bathrooms, horrendous, this is a brand new restaurant but they employees are so lazy that instead of using the brand new paper towel dispenser they just leave the paper towel roll out on the sink letting it get wet and soggy from each use. Gross. If this was some run down cafe I’d excuse this bathroom but the fact they position themself as a luxury place to get coffee and eat (especially the prices) this is unacceptable. A run down cafe would know that a cold brew only takes 10 seconds and still be able to give that to me within minutes.
The vibe here was off. The regular employees were far more attentive and friendly than the woman who seemed to be the manager. She stood there with her hand in her pocket, watching every move the cashier made, never making eye contact with customers, and keeping a serious, almost irritated expression. While we were ordering she chimed in with, “Make sure the chef can do that,” which felt unnecessary and honestly made me uncomfortable, almost like she needed everyone to know she was in charge. The place itself is big, but during lunchtime most of the large tables were taken by people on laptops nursing a single cup of coffee, so it was difficult to find a place to sit. The food was decent, but nothing special enough to make up for the weird atmosphere.
Nice ambiance and good food. However, I went there for a business lunch and was disappointed that there wasn’t any indoor seating available. All the tables and booths were taken up by college students working alone on laptops—even the larger booths for four people. Many of them with just drinks. Ended up having to sit outside in the cold, which wasn’t ideal. Would be great if the restaurant could reserve some seating for dining customers during lunch hours.
Brunch menu is nearly 100% omni, few modifications available, they have a couple of vegan options but only on their dinner menu. Went to brunch with a bunch of omnis and was stuck with avocado toast… When i asked if they had vegan options not in the menu, we received a pretty strong “Omnivores only” vibe from the staff. Way too high priced for the value; add that to the price of parking in the area and you might as well just go downtown… On top of all that, they’re trying way too hard to be trendy and hip but come off as just another college campus cafe. Big disappointment.
The only thing worse than the food was the service. Ordered two pour over coffees one veggie burrito and one breakfast pizza recommended by the cashier. Pour over we’re done behind the counter and came in large paper cups even though we were dining in. Extra charge for milk. Burrito came over with a salsa verde and was fine - no breakfast pizza. Husband finished his burrito and I saw my pizza sitting in the pass - waited while three employees stood and chatted by it. Finally got up and asked if they could hand it to me. Not good - crust was par baked or half raw - egg whites were undercooked. Avoid.
I usually love this place so much. Shocked to pay 15 dollars for literally the tiniest soup and a single slice of sourdough. The cup was small and only filled about halfway.
Location is beautiful but the environment within was not. I came in earlier with my friend to try out their drinks that I had seen on TikTok. Walking in, it felt like I had just entered a strangers house. It was very unwelcoming. The cashier was the only one who looked like she wanted to be there. Looking around at the staff behind the counter, everybody looked miserable. I get it, but it did not help with the feeling of intruding. We ordered a smoothie and their love latte with chai instead of coffee. The cashier asked me specifically, “So you don’t want any caffeine?” and I replied with no thank you. The wait was fine. Our order is called out and I’m looking around for a straw for my drink. There’s a worker standing right by the counter and we are not acknowledged at all. Not even a smile. I was given a dirty chai, which has caffeine. I didn't even care to ask for it to be remade because I just wanted to leave the area. We awkwardly stuck around for a few minutes and left. The whole time we were in that building it felt like we didn’t belong, like we were not welcome. I spoke to a friend about our experience and she said she was also given off the same vibe. I will not be coming here again.
not going to comment on the food, absolutely the worst service on a regular basis! shoutout to the manager that uses the coffee bar as her desk!!! love having my food served to me on top of a laptop! coffee shouldn’t take 35 minutes when we use your own app. the coffee bar staff treats work like social hour to the point of ignoring customers. nothing will ever change because the hill’s reputation is good enough to bring people in. this place is gross and disappointing. we’ve been doing coffee here for convenience for months but the coffee is mid at best and the service has become unbearable.
I went on a Saturday afternoon after waiting in line for 15 minutes, sitting waiting for my order that never came until I walked up to the counter and said where is my pizza and my salad. they finally gave me my cranberry salad. With a few cranberries and cabbage that was it. It was awful and I paid $14 for that. Got a pizza after many times going up to the desk and asking where my food was while waiting for my pizza I decided well I’ll get a drink. Shouldn’t have done that never got the drink. We ended up leaving told him I want reimbursement for my salad and my drink that never came. The place is too busy. People are waiting. Frustrated how these reviews can be so good. I’ll never understand they need to take a trip to another state where food is really good.
I was a customer of Hills Kitchen Sugarhouse from April 2025 until this last week, and I won’t be returning. Overall, the food and drink service was consistently disappointing. They use Publiks Coffee, and almost every iced coffee I ordered tasted overly burnt, or it was made so sweet it was hard to drink. I gave the kitchen plenty of chances over several months, but there was little to no consistency. I ordered the same meal repeatedly, chicken tenders with a side salad, no tomatoes, and ranch, and only once was it made correctly. Almost every other time something was wrong. When the order was correct, the food choices were average at best. I don’t usually comment on management, but in this case it’s impossible to ignore. Over the months I visited, there was constant staff turnover, to the point that the restaurant felt unstable. As a customer, it was uncomfortable to watch how strained and uneasy the staff felt, and it noticeably affected the quality of service. My direct interactions with the general manager were consistently negative, and in my opinion, they lack professionalism and basic customer awareness. The overall impression was that leadership issues were bleeding into every part of the operation. Between the inconsistent food, poor coffee, and what felt like a tense and poorly run environment, this place stopped being worth the time or money. The ONLY good this about this location would be the original head pastry chef but i’m unsure if they’re still around anymore, aside from that nothing about the experience improved over time, despite multiple chances. I no longer feel comfortable supporting this business and wouldn’t recommend it to others looking for a reliable or welcoming place to eat.
