I ship packages from the nearby Fedex several times per week and often stop at Bangkok 54 afterward. It's a nice, family-owned restaurant that makes its food from scratch. Some weekends you can see them making their own dumplings. You can't go wrong with the pad thai, pad woon sen, or anything else on the menu. Great food. Friendly, attentive staff, and an atmosphere where you can sit down and have a peaceful conversation with your friends or family.
Ask for a side of noodles! The fresh noodles are delicious! They're coated in house made garlic oil! 🤤🥹🫠! They're so good that I almost forgot about my entree! The service is amazing! Everyone checked on us multiple times! I ordered the basil tofu and added shrimp! It was yummy. The calamari, pot stickers, steamed dumplings and cheese rolls were also tasty! I highly recommend!
Bangkok 54 has been my Thai restaurant of choice for over 15+ years. They consistently have great food and service. I eat there for lunch 4-5 times a week because I want a good meal every time. I'm done wasting time on food that is sub-standard in any cuisine. The menu is excellent. Everything is fresh. Looks, smells, and tastes delicious. Save yourself time, money, and guess work "hoping" for great Thai food or a great meal. Head over to Bangkok 54. I'll see you there.
I've been here several times and each time its a great experience, but this last time was by far the greatest, my waitress was an absolute dream. Extremely pleasant and helpful, but no overly attentive. The food was delicious and very quick. Everytime I'm in San Antonio I make it a point to show up
I give this place a million out of 5. If there were more stars I would have added them! The lady that was serving us was super friendly and so pretty! We came in around 9:10, even though they were starting to close, and they allowed us to dine in! Our servers daughter was in the restaurant as well. she gave us plates and the check. She was super nice and so adorable! We ordered the drunken noodles with soft tofu at level 3 spice (11/10 recommend) and Red curry with soft tofu spice 3 (8/10 recommend). I cannot stop talking about how amazing the staff were. They were always smiling and so hospitable. The interior is nicely decorated with flowers and paintings. At the end, she got us 2 boxes for the leftovers and filled them up herself without asking her. 😌 Definitely will be coming back any time we come to San Antonio! Loved everything about the experience!
Went for a late lunch this Saturday and the food was so nice! I got the Pa Nang chicken curry with Jasmine Rice. It tasted fresh and had the perfect rich consistency! I got the medium spice flavor and it was just the right amount of spicy without being unbearable (coming from someone who doesn't eat very spicy food😅) We also got the potstickers (It came with a lot more, but we had already dug in by this point) The service was quick and very kind! We will definitely be back to try more soon!
Just had lunch here and hands down was some of the best Thai food we have found here in San Antonio so far. Mind that my hubby's brain was melting, according to him. He did pick a curry, so that was on him. I can handle my spice and leveled up on my meal. The pot stickers which come with your meal were yummy, so my hubby says. I didn't have any I had the cheese rolls. I had the pepper steak, very good. The red sauce they give you to dip was very tasty the best so far.
The food at this establishment is so fresh and tasty. I'm vegetarian and have jumped head first into other Thai/Asian restaurants and was left disappointed, so I did a little research beforehand. I'm vegetarian and started with the lovers combo appetizer to get a taste for some classics (spring rolls, cheese puffs ((basically rangoons rolled up) and fried shrimp which had a coconut breading that my Korean boyfriend found surprisingly tasty), the sweet chili sauce was unique and tasty which proved this kitchen uses fresh and original recipes. I ordered the Pa Nang vegetarian with extra rice and tofu, my S.O. had the same entree with shrimp and tofu. Mine was American level spice, his Thai. These dishes were robust and filling! I was worried I would get a frozen bag, soggy vegetable medley but that's not at all what was presented; Everything from the bamboo shoots to the bell peppers had that nice, fresh crunch to it. I'm pregnant and the American level spice was perfect for me! My boyfriend agreed his Thai level would have been too spicy for me, but was very satisfied and concluded any more heat and it would've been too spicy for even him. Additionally, the tofu was NOT fried which I appreciate SO much!! Lastly, if you can't finish your meal they bring it to the back to box which adds a quirky, fine-dining touch to an otherwise small business feel. I would highly recommend this place!
1st time visiting this restaurant I ordered a mango Boba tea and sticky rice mango dessert. The food and drink was very good the only issue I have is the paper straw it feels like I'm stuffing paper in my mouth when drinking a drink lol luckily I had a straw of another drink in the vehicle. (The actual boba was a bit stale not too fresh-it was ok) (They are closed next month may 2023)
This has been my favorite thai restaurant for the past few years. They make amazing food. Fresh, fast and full of so much flavor. I haven't had one thing I didn't like. They make amazing curry, soups and noodle dishes. The staff is very friendly and help you pick an item if you're not sure what you want. I've taken so many friends here and they've always returned.
A gem of a restaurant located right off of Loop 410 and Nacogdoches that has some AMAZING Thai food. This place gives you the option of how hot you want to go with your dish versus serving them already seasoned too hot to eat. You must try the Pineapple rice dish and the fish is delicious. The staff is friendly, courteous and food is on point. Order some Singha beer to wash down the goodness.
Flavor popping food is the name of the game, and this spot has it down to a tee. Fried rice is colorful and rich with flavor, and although my order was to-go, the restaurant's atmosphere was welcoming.
The lady and gentleman working the front were great and very friendly. The food tasted amazing I had the green curry. The only complaint I have is that for the 15 dollar price tag I don’t feel they serve enough ! I had a very small portion to go and i was still hungry after eating. Picture was obviously after eating.
When we arrived it was encouraging to see a broken car window shattered all over the parking lot . Their sign that says Best Thai Food definitely doesn't live up to the hype. Decent service, we tried this restaurant because my friend said it was his favorite Pad Thai in the city, I will have to disagree with my friends taste. We tried several items on the menu including the coconut water excellent, spring rolls good, fresh rolls good, chicken Pad Thai good, sticky rice and mango excellent, combo fried rice excellent. The mail server at first started off in a pretty grumpy mood I think he was having issues with his co-worker or Mom towards the middle to end of the service he got much better more attentive and friendly and even asked if it was okay to give our son a sucker at the end of the meal. We won't be going back here as there are many other places in town we enjoy Pad Thai more but it was a pretty good experience.
This was my first visit—and likely my last. The service was genuinely excellent, and the staff were courteous and attentive. Parking was plentiful, there was no wait, and the food itself was fine. That said, it was nothing remarkable and certainly didn’t live up to the bold claim of “Best Thai Food,” proudly advertised on the giant sign above the entrance. There were two notable distractions. First, children were loudly playing in the dining room, and I assume they were associated with an employee. Second, the appetizer (soup) arrived at the table at the same time as the main dish. A little pacing goes a long way—when everything arrives at once, something inevitably gets cold. I also found an ant crawling on my table and honestly that did not bother me. Ultimately, the deciding factor in not returning is the price. The lunch “special” is $13.95, iced tea is $3.00, and a CUP of soup is $7.95. My final total with tax and tip came to $32.34 – FOR LUNCH! At that price point, I half-expected round-trip airfare to Bangkok to be included, or at least a week’s worth of meals once I got there.
Ordered: 1. Pad See Eew 6/10 Lacked flavor and had that earthy/dirt flavor of noodles (like when the noodles are not soaked long enough in water before being cooked). The noodles are not fresh noodles 2. Pad Thai 6/10 Again, noodles having that earthy/dirt flavor because it wasn’t soaked long enough before being cooked. Noodles are not fresh noodles. That overpowered any flavor from traditional pad Thai (tamarind, palm sugar, fish sauce) 3. Beef Salad (spicy) 6/10 Salad was not spicy as requested- had zero spice. And was expecting the salad to be made with steak as it traditionally is. 4. Calamari appetizer 10/10 Would not return based off of what I ordered.
It was my first time eating here, portions were good, prices were fair, a bit high for lunch specials. But, the main reason for my 3 star review was flavor. We started our meal with the pork shumai. They had a little bit of an off flavor, both myself and my friend noticed it. Then I had my drunken noodles with beef and my friend had beef pad thai. Again both of us noticed an off flavor. Both of us commented that as we ate, the flavor of whatever it disappeared, but I did taste something almost like liquid soap in a few of my bites. Its fair to mention we arrived right after opening. The portions were large, and I left completely full. The sauce for the shumai and for the pot stickers was great. The pot stickers had awesome flavor and were crispy. Service was good, food came out decently quick, and the restaurant inside is decorated nicely. As a first experience, I was disappointed. Had the odd flavor not been there, it would have been a 5 star review.
I go to this restaurant all the time but the last 5 times I have been it has been a hit or miss. Me and my daughter always order the same thing every single time but most of the time it does NOT taste the same. Today we went and my daughter got the same thing as me- hers was really flavorful and a darker color. Mine was bland and lighter like there was a missing ingredient. I have mentioned this several times during my visit but this time it was very noticeable because the color of the noodles were not even the same Our bill is always about $98 dollars and I don’t want anyone to deal with the same issues. We usually get drunken noodles. My husbands fried duck was really good. I am not sure if it’s worth going back due to the inconstancy for the drunken noodle but $98!is a steep check for something that does not taste good.
