Came here for my husband's birthday for the first time and I experience from walking to the door to leaving was an amazing experience. We were greeted us in as we walk through the door and I had made reservations prior so the waiter have asked if we had reservations in my name to get seated. Once he found a reservation in time we were sitting outside on the patio which was fine because I knew prior. It was supposed to be a cold night so they did have heaters outdoor the inside looks really cool but I can't comment because we weren't able to dine in inside space is limited but still follow Covid guidelines. As soon as the sat down on our way there waiter got us drinks asked us if we had ever been here before and suggested items on the menu. Went with the fat noodle shirt rib the curry fried rice and the pepper shrimp. And oh my gosh ! everything was amazing the food was hot made fresh, flavor was out of this world. We didn't realize how much food we ordered but it was definitely more than enough for two we even had some leftover. The shirt rib in the fat noodle was so good the seafood in the curry fried rice was so good and the pepper shrimp was so flavorful and bomb I suggest all three OK I'm craving in now as I write about it. Definitely a cute little spot to try if you are ever downtown by the pearl! Customer service was also really great too we appreciate our waiter checking in on us throughout the whole time and refills without asking and also letting my husband choose a free dessert or wine for his birthday.

Located in San Antonio’s Pearl District (so many cute spots here) this is a James Beard Awarded spot. Ambiance artsy with a 90’s vibe with all pink wallpaper. Service was great! The cocktails & food was AMAZING. I’m still thinking about the food we got KORERN CORN CHEESE SPRING ROLLS, MOCHI CHEDDAR HUSH PUPPIES IMPOSSIBLE POTSTICKERS SUPER GARLICKY NOODLES WOK CHARRED GREEN BEANS Still thinking about the corn cheese spring rolls with gochujang & the mochi cheddar hush puppies. They both were my favorite. The green beans were some of the best I’ve ever had & the potstickers & garlic noodles were classic. Service was good. Cocktails were delicious. Cannot wait to be back!

First, a very nice place to start with some photos for your social media, and second, the food is delicious. Our waitress made several recommendations, and the way the dishes are served is beautiful. If you want a delicious afternoon with a good Shinga, this is the right place 🤌🏽🔝

Every December for the last 5 years, I've had annual meeting in San Antonio where a couple work friends and I try to top the prior year's lunch spot. To say there's not a lot of pressure on the choice is an understatement. Fortunately, Best Quality Daughter knocked it out of the park! It had all the things we look for. Most important, impressive quality food that is unique in it's class. Different stuff that we usually don't get. Great staff that shows impressive ownership/leadership. And, a funky vibe location. Best Quality Daughter had them all and for the fifth year, we can check that box: a great meal with great people. The sad (sad?) part is that we just order as much as we can to sample as wide a variety as we can. I wish we had the Anthony Bourdain budget, but we did limit ourselves to three apps and three entrees. In a miracle, I think they kept coming out better and better as each plate arrived. We started off with the Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken. Great Asian Fried chicken and if the Thai Basil Ranch sauce was for sale, we all would have bought a jar to bring home! It could accompany so much. Next up were the very unique Mochi Cheddar Hush Puppies. Again, the accompanying Tai chili jam was off the rails. Most hush puppies are over cooked or at too high a temp. These were fluffy, almost pastry, versions of mac & cheese with a great parmesan(?) crust. We finished out the apps with the Impossible Potstickers. I love potstickers and these were new level. I'm not remotely vegan, but these were divine. Eat them fast while they are still warm and you will get a sublime pop of ginger in a way you've never seen. Next up we seriously trolled the entrees. We shared everything family style which is what I highly recommend so you can sample more than you order. Be careful though, you may loose a finger if someone is digging in too aggressively. Be kind to your neighbor... We started off with Salt-n-Pepper Shrimp. I just can't find the right emoji that shows "Joy". Smiling, pleasurable, happy - Joy. That's all that came to mind eating that shrimp. Not overly sodiumed out, but an incredible spice of salt & pepper. Genius in a bite. Surprisingly, it gets even better. We were all knocked out with the innovative Red Curry Mole Beef Stir Fry that came next. That chocolate mole with mouth tingling warm (not painfully hot) curry was a pairing I would have never expected. But I enjoyed it. And the roasted sunflower seeds gave it a taste level and texture bump. As we sat there satiated and content looking to see if the seating could turn into a nap space, out rolled the final and supreme dish. I would NEVER order this as a meal. I would only recommend it as a shared experience. It was so rich and decadent that I would have to be hospitalized after over indulging if I went at it alone. It was the Pork Belly Ssam. I recommend this highly: order all your entrees and then plus this to share. It was like eating bacon butter with a chewy finish. Then when you add the pickled onions and INSANE-ly good sauces on the side.... Oh man, that finishes off my year with an EXCEPTIONAL meal. Ok, I've written too much in all caps. Trust me: bring your special someone(s) to this place and enjoy your heart out. Apologies for the poor photos this time. I was too focused on getting my fair share of the food before my two lunch partners polished things off.

One of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio. My favorite dishes are the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and green beans. The salt and pepper shrimp is also quite good but could use a few more shrimp to justify the price. Service is quick and I really enjoy the atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Best Quality Daughter delivers a very special experience. Every little detail from the care given to the antique home to the take-away packaging and everything in between has obviously been given loving attention. Great location at The Pearl with easy (free or inexpensive) parking right next door. The original character of the home has been preserved and highlighted while the updates have a moody maximalist yet uncluttered design aesthetic. The hosts and servers were all very welcoming and seemed genuinely excited to be offering up something so unique. We were greeted genially and taken to a circular corner booth that we oohed over. This place has mad game in the departments of wallpaper, textiles and lighting. It felt opulent in a non-pretentious way, and at lunch time, there were patrons in tshirt as well as the hipsters and business casuals. Everyone seemed to be fully enjoying themselves laughing or in zen mode, including the staff. We were brought water and menus immediately. After a few minutes, our waitress arrived to take our drink order, and we were ready to go ahead and place our food order, as well. We ordered fancy lemonade and limeade, three "smallish" plates, and one noodle dish to share... way more than enough for two people, but so many things we wanted to try! The bartender did a fabulous job of our drinks: lemonade with butterfly pea flower (gorgeous!) and salted Thai limeade. Our waitress set the expectation that food would come out as it was ready and in no particular order, and it did. We first received the smallish Roasted Brussels Sprouts. My dining companions has not always cared for tamarind, but it balanced out really well with the peanut sauce, and he called it his favorite dish of the meal. Then came the Local Mushroom Chow Mein, Impossible Potstickers and Korean Corn Cheese Spring Rolls. Everything was very good, but the spring rolls were the other great hit for us. We came in at about $70 before tip and left with the equivalent of two more lunches to-go. I would definitely return and recommend this lovely place to friends and family!

My friend and I visited The Best Quality Daughter a few weekends ago, and I must say this place is a hidden gem! The atmosphere is inviting, and the food is packed with bold flavors that make it stand out. We tried the cashew chicken and the cheddar hushpuppies with butterfly lemonade, and both dishes were absolutely amazing. The flavors were rich, well-balanced, and perfectly seasoned, making each bite a real treat. The portions are huge so we both had enough to take hope I’d just recommend adding another side of rice! What really sets this place apart is the friendly and attentive service and beautiful decor. Our server was incredibly helpful, offering excellent recommendations and making sure we had a great experience. If you're looking for something different and flavorful, this spot is a must-try! I will definitely be back for more.

Absolutely blown away by the food here. Lived in Asia for much of my life. The dishes here use familiar flavors but in unique ways, creating food that you will not find elsewhere. Come prepared: you'll eat too much and feel happy doing it. Outstanding cocktails, too. Also really enjoyed the atmosphere and design of the place. What a special place that San Antonio has. I'll be back!

Creative Asian cuisine in a super cute vintage bungalow. Interesting and playful menu and decor. Loved the blistered green beans. We like very spicy and wished for a bit more heat in some of our dishes but realize that’s a personal taste. Very friendly and efficient service. Great location in the Pearl district. We had a lovely brunch and can’t wait to come back.

Best Quality Daughter hosted our team of 12 for dinner last week, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the vibe was warm, stylish, and full of energy—a perfect setting for a team celebration. Our waiter went above and beyond, with incredible knowledge of the menu that made all the difference. They helped us curate the perfect mix of dishes, and every recommendation was spot-on. We had a blast sampling a variety of items—it was truly a foodie’s dream come true. The creativity and bold flavors on the menu had us all raving. The drinks were just as impressive, with something for everyone—both cocktails and mocktails were crafted with care and packed with flavor. Between the unforgettable food, the welcoming atmosphere, and the stellar service, this was well beyond a five-star experience. Thank you, Best Quality Daughter, for not only accommodating our large group, but for making us feel right at home. We’ll be talking about this night for a long time!

In a city teeming with gastronomic delights, where the fusion of cultures creates a culinary tapestry as rich and diverse as its history, there stands a beacon of Asian culinary mastery: Best Quality Daughter. Having had the privilege of dining in the bustling markets of Bangkok, the street corners of Ho Chi Minh, and the upscale eateries of Tokyo, I can confidently say that this establishment holds its own among the best. Each visit unfurls like a chapter in an ongoing culinary saga. The ambiance, a harmonious blend of modern chic with traditional undertones, sets the stage for what's to come. And the menu? A symphony of flavors that pays homage to traditional Asian cuisine while daringly pushing the boundaries. Every dish is a journey. Ingredients, meticulously sourced and treated with reverence, come together in a dance of flavors and textures that is both familiar and innovative. Whether it's a classic staple or a contemporary twist, there's an underlying authenticity that resonates with every bite. Beyond the food, the service stands as a testament to the establishment's commitment to excellence. Attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable without being pretentious, the staff at Best Quality Daughter ensures that every dining experience feels special. In the heart of San Antonio, where the melding of cultures is celebrated, Best Quality Daughter emerges as a culinary jewel, a testament to the art of Asian cuisine. Five stars, unequivocally, for it's not just about dining; it's about experiencing a piece of culinary art.

If I had one word to describe the food here, it’d be IRRESISTIBLE! This is quality Asian inspired cuisine at its finest! The atmosphere here is relaxed and you just feel comfortable being in this space, it’s homey in the best way! The staff provided incredible service here, our waitress was attentive and our orders came out at a very reasonable pace. We loved the family style dishes, this can be great to take advantage of if you’re out with friends and/or on a tight budget. For drinks we tried the ‘Above My Pay Grade’ which is a refreshing and easy to drink Gin Cocktail as well as the ‘Standard Deviation’ which is a “Boozy Boba” that has Dark Rum & Cold Brew. We will definitely get these again, excited to try new cocktails here in the future! We started off with the Impossible Potstickers, these were awesome on their own but that dipping sauce sealed the deal! Next up we got the Mochi Cheddar Hush Puppies and these are by far our favorite plate here no doubt! The Hush Puppies are self explanatory, they’re amazing, but the Chili Jam that comes on the side is the winning compliment! As a last minute decision we picked one of the specials during our visit in the beginning of July 2024, which was the Habanero Salsa & Spicy Pork Queso served with wonton style chips. We were so glad we tried this, it’s a good amount of spice without overpowering and the chips were phenomenal! Lastly for our Family Style dish we ordered the Cashew Chicken and again we were in love! We ordered the Super Garlicky Noodles and this small dish went so well with the Cashew Chicken!

Visited on a whim for a late lunch/early dinner and absolutely enjoyed the experience — great service and ambiance! Our fave dish was the curry shrimp fried rice; the cashew chicken was also a group favorite. If you go, you should know that 1) your food is brought to the table as they finish it (versus waiting until everything is done to bring it out) and 2) they serve their dishes family style and they’re meant to be/best shared among the group. We were a party of four that shared pot stickers, hush puppies, and 3 family style meals and enjoyed ample sized servings of all.

Incredible service, incredible food, incredible drinks, incredible everything. To start off, the decor and ambiance of Best Quality Daughter is quaint, quirky, and fun. The staff is warm, welcoming, and is always prompt to make excellent recommendations. Drinks are seasonal and delicious and the food menu is to match. This time we had the Summer Squash, Tom Yum Noodles, and Hakka Stuffed Tofu. Great flavors and large portions. I recommend dining “family style” so you get to taste everything. We finished off the meal with the Mango Coconut Ice Cream Sandwich and was pleasantly surprised that it was vegan. The chef is definitely very conscious and thoughtful about providing allergy sensitive options. Overall, it’s in the details that really impresses me. The preparation and presentation of the food and drinks, the names of their cocktails, even their to-go containers and bags. I can’t wait to return again to try everything else on the menu.

Located in the historic Mueller House in San Antonio, this Asian fusion restaurant brings exciting flavors & fresh twists featuring standout creations like crispy Taiwanese popcorn fried chicken, miso ginger noodles and curry shrimp fried rice. Led by inspiring Asian-American female chef, Jennifer Dobbertin, who showcases her talent for blending tradition with innovation crafting every dish with passion and creativity. It leaves you dreaming of these dishes long after your meal. This restaurant is a culinary gem in the Pearl District you won’t want to miss! Plus, the aesthetic. Love 💕

Omg, this has to be my favorite restaurant in all of Texas!! The food is amazing here and I wish they opened a restaurant in my hometown Vancouver BC Canada. I would eat this all the time! The restaurant is in a cool house with funky decor. Our server was super nice and helped us choose dishes. Everything is meant to be shared. We ordered a few things and i loved every single one. The smashed cucumbers were a decent size and very fresh. The guido beef Dan Dan noodles were super interesting because it was like a Mex Tex take on the Asian dish. My boyfriend really liked this one. I was obsessed with the cashew chicken and pork fried rice. So many flavours together and both these dishes were especially huge! I told our server that I couldn't eat spicy food so she was so nice and got them to omit the peppers :) The cocktails here sound super cool as well. I had one of their boozy bobas, the mango one. It was really yummy! Me and my bf both said that we would come back here again before we leave San Antonio!

Strange name for a restaurant but we had heard good things and decided to give it a go. Glad we did! We walked in and we were able to get a table but booking is definitely recommended. This is a small restaurant with a homely feel. Staff were friendly and the food was VERY good. We shared the Cashew Chicken - There was plenty for 2 and could definitely feed 3 if you added a second bowl of rice. The drinks menu is fun and my margarita was a generous pour and tasty! We will definitely return!

Get the Cashew Chicken. You will not be disappointed - it is SO good! I also loved the Korean Cheese Spring Rolls and the Curry Beef Dan Dan - so good! I love the unique restaurant, every room looks a little different. The cocktails are amazing. Always a good time!

I loveeee this place! First, the name is hilarious, the atmosphere is lovely, and the food & drinks are best top quality. We had Above my Pay Grade, Are you there God.., Standard Deviation boozy boba, Garlicky noodles, Taiwanese Popcorn chicken, Eggplant, Marinated Bamboo, and Black Sesame ice cream. Everything was so delicious, I came back the next day and ordered almost all of the same. I highly recommend if you’re in the mood for super good Asian food.

Love the vibe and decor. Our server, Gretchen (who vibrates on a higher frequency), was dead on with her recommendations of the Brussel sprouts, cashew chicken and smashed cucumbers. Ate so much. Couldn’t stop eating. Wanted to try everything on the lunch menu. Another reason to drive from Houston to San Antonio. Moving BQD into heavy rotation. Overall rating: Just plain WOW! Thank you Gretchen for making this a memorable experience!!

Best Quality Daughter is one of my favorite local spots for solo dining and dining with friends. The space is beautifully decorated, and the vibe is spunky and inviting. They have a full bar and a list of featured cocktails - they change their menu so often, so you're sure to get something different every few months. I always start my visit with the smashed cucumbers. Honestly, I wish I knew what's in this dish because I crave it often and wanna make it a home. And the creamy coconut tom yum noodles is one of my favorite dishes in town. There's something about that sauce that's absolutely killer. A big shout out to all the staff at Best Quality Daughter. Y'all always do an excellent job, and you make San Antonio proud. Keep up the good work, and I'll be back soon! 🍜

Is this the vibiest restaurant in San Antonio? All signs point to yes - even the server in the brunch place we went to earlier in the day told us to go. It did not disappoint. The boozy boba cocktails are a must try, and almost worth showing up half an hour early to your reservation for. The menu has more 10/10 options on it than is reasonable for you to order, so prepare yourself to make hard, painful choices. We failed to make those hard, painful choices and left Best Quality Daughter uncomfortably full. The wok fried green beans are, somewhat surprisingly, a must order. As are the brussel sprouts. Beyond that, go wild, it's all exceptionally good.

Dined at Best Quality Daughter and had another great experience. I ordered the Cashew Chicken and the Thai Salted Limeade - both were excellent. The chicken was juicy and tender, the cashews added a nice crunch, and it was full of flavor with a generous portion. The Thai Salted Limeade was refreshing and perfectly balanced, perfect on a hot fall day. I also tried the Super Garlicky Noodles, which were delicious and a great vegetarian option. Service was friendly and the atmosphere warm and inviting. I recommend making a reservation to avoid a wait. This place has become a must-stop dining option every time I visit San Antonio.

An instant favorite! This restaurant gets straight perfect scores across the board. Unpretentiously delicious food that pleases the palate in a casual environment that invites conversations and good times. Food: I've been here twice and the food has been amazing each time. A fusion of East and West flavors that explodes in your mouth with every bite. Try the Brussel sprouts and don't miss the salt and pepper shrimp. Food comes warm and fresh, carefully designed, and surprisingly novel. Service: Unassuming, kind, and helpful. It's not a fancy restaurant, but I was very pleased with the servers suggestions, manners, and promptness. Drinks: Another pleasant surprise, the mixed drinks menu is carefully curated to include a little something good for every preference. Over my two visits, I have tried five different cocktails and they have all been very well crafted and balanced. Dessert: Maybe this is the only area where I was not totally blown away. Desserts are small and delicate, capture the Asian flavors and are really good, just not amazing. Don't let this deter you though, they are still totally worth it. Other notes: vegan and vegetarian options available.

This restaurant is small but mighty! The service was prompt and attentive and the food was out of this world amazing. I brought my team for a work dinner and we tried a little bit of everything. We loved the family style menu so we could share. Every dish was better than the last. Prices were reasonable for the shareable portions. Get reservations, especially for a large group since they only have one table that will accommodate groups. We’ll definitely be back.

I came the other day for lunch while I was at the Pearl. We had a party of 4 and we're sat immediately. First thing you notice is how quaint the place is, as both the exterior and interior are charming with its baby pink paint and various cute decor. This place doesn't work on courses of meals and food comes as it's ready once you order it. It is also served primarily in family style. We started with the mochi cheddar hush puppies. It reminded me of Brazilian cheese bread (Pão de queijo), with a nice crunchy exterior and a soft cheesy interior from the mochi flour. Then we got the roasted brussel sprouts, and the peanut tamarind sauce was phenomenal. It was a good mixture of savory and sweet, on top of crunchy brussel sprouts. For entrées, we split the cashew chicken and the mushroom chow mein. The chicken had a crunchy bite and a tender interior with a sweet sauce on top. Along with the cooked vegetables and rice, it all paired nicely. The vegetable spring roll were delightful too. The mushroom chow mein had a strong umami flavor and with the basil and lemon, it was delicious. All the food came out quickly and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and we got some good recommendations from our waitress. The menu rotates and i would love to come back another time to try the exciting food this place has to offer.

We had the BEST experience Thursday evening at Best Quality Daughter. We didn’t have reservations, but we were able to get a table for 5 for our family. Our server was excellent and knew the menu well. Because we had our kids with us she was able to recommend some dishes for our family. Luckily, our kids are cultured and will eat any foods and enjoy some spice/flavor. We ordered the Hushpuppies, pork fried rice, a chicken dish off the small bites and then the Cashew Chicken shareable. Everything came out fast, fresh, and hot. We didn’t get a partaking spot out front but parking in the back was only like $3. We will be back!!

My boyfriend and I had a phenomenal experience at BQD tonight ! Our server, Michael was excellent, very attentive and gave us good recommendations of what to try on the menu. They have ‘boozy boba’ which, as a long time boba lover, I had to give it a try. I tried their version of Thai tea boba with rum and it did not disappoint! I highlyyyy recommend their mochi cheddar hushpuppies. So good and chewy with a crunch. My boyfriend loved the potstickers, it ended up being one of his favorites tonight . The salt and pepper shrimp came with tasty vegetables and a delicious chimichurri sauce. We also tried the current special called Mom’s spaghetti. Incredible flavors with lemongrass pork , a creamy gochujang sauce and parmesan. This dish was such a treat and definitely a must try. Really enjoyed our dessert as well, the mango coconut sherbet and milk oolong ice cream sandwiches, both of the ice creams are made in house . I love the influence and fusion of different Asian flavors you can find on their menu. What an experience, we both left super happy and super full! Thank you to the staff and to Chef John.

I was uncertain about this place having never been here before and it did not disappoint. The Curry Shrimp Fried Rice along with the hush puppies and garlic noodles were absolutely fantastic. Ever but seemed to get better and better. Andy as our waitress was over the top great. She went above and beyond for service. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming. I will be back next time I am in the San Antonio area. 10/10 recommend.

Had the best lunch here, cashew chicken & spring rolls are to DIE FOR! Brussels sprouts were also amazing, our server was super sweet and attentive and the atmosphere was so cute inside. They serve “family style” entrees so being friends and check out what they have! We can’t wait to come back with our friends and try more.

An immediate favorite. It’s Asian fusion but with variety. It’s so cute inside and has lots of seating. I highly recommend a reservation. It’s also decent pricing. The drinks are great. The service was also helpful and attentive. We had someone with a peanut allergy and they made sure to keep him safe.

Second time going here and both times I left impressed. This place has the best fusion dishes. Everything is family style and shared. Corn cheese spring rolls, garlicky noodles, salt and pepper shrimp and pork belly ssam. Amazing!! Drunken noodles red curry mole what!? Delicious. Curry shrimp fried rice! Incredible. Couldn't stop eating it all. This place can get expensive with all the options. But it is 100% worth every penny. Get a reservation otherwise you may not get a table.

Took a few minutes to get seated but ended up getting seated outside which had nice vibes but wasn't very cooled. I had a great drink which I forgot the name, Brussel Sprouts and the Cashew chicken was phenomenal and both booming with flavor. Very large portion that can easily serve 2 people. Ask for the spicy sauce for Cashew chicken. Its made on the side and made to order from the kitchen. It is very good and went extremely well with the dish. I will definitely be back.

Best Quality Daughter (BQD) does Chinese-American inspired food right! The flavors meld together with hints of Chinese-American, Korean, Texas BBQ, and even a little Mexican and Southeast Asian. The portions are big, easy for table sharing, and the flavors are robust! Each of us had a unique favorite! We particularly loved the Dan Dan Noodles, the Jap Chae with the Salt & Pepper Fried Shrimp added, and the Cashew Chicken. What was particularly impressive was the subtle, but critical attention to detail, such as wok-ey roasting those cashews first. Exceptional! In an area with awesome food, like the Pearl, you have to stand out, and BQD absolutely does!

OMG!!! First off, thank you SARAH for taking amazing care of us! Thank you for the cocktail and food suggestions. Thank you for your hospitality, attentive service, and willingness to go above and beyond to make sure we had the tastiest meal we could possibly have. Food and cocktails were all an EASY 10/10. The coconut shrimp tom yum noodles were ridiculously good, like, that depth of flavor should be illegal. Pork belly was delicous, juicy, and the sauces/herbs made every bite complex and different than the last. We definitely over ate but the food is so clean it didn’t make me tired or sluggish! Very important! The bartender made excellent/balanced cocktails! Night Shades being my favorite one. We will definitely come back next time we’re in the city. Thank you again SARAH (be sure to ask for her!!!) for being a rockstar server and thank you both front/back of house for the amazing job you all do. ~One Love~

I have been wanting to try BQD for years. This weekend, I finally had the chance. Everything was fantastic! I would recommend trying a few of the small dishes and sharing a couple entrees. I loved everything but the cashew chicken was my favorite!!

I was in San Antonio and stumbled upon this amazing place to eat. I had no idea I needed a reservation, but the host was super friendly and let us sit at the bar outside. Our server was also fantastic! She gave us tons of food and drink recommendations since it was our first time. Everyone was really chill and great at checking up on us. We ended up ordering the super garlicky noodles and the cashew chicken. Both were delicious and savory! We had an amazing time, even though we were sitting outside. It wasn’t a problem because they gave us fans to keep the flies away from the food. Overall, it was a great place! Definitely recommend!

Everything I’ve had from here is incredible. The green beans are to die for, no really, and the Brussels sprouts. Who knew? We had the cashew chicken, fried rice, salt n pepper shrimp, Korean corn cheese spring rolls, and curry guisada dan dan. The cocktails are also so well balanced and unique. Absolutely adore this place and the flavors are off the charts. Chefs kiss, no notes.

Usually we’ve been pretty disappointed with Asian fusion restaurants, but we were quite literally impressed by this place! Although it’s a pricey, we liked everything we ordered. The menu is fairly small, and the sharables stood out to us more than the main menu. We definitely will be back and recommending to others! * Mochi Cheddar Hush Puppies - paired with a Thai Chili Jam. All around this was a favorite. The sauce paired nicely with it, and we love mocha in general so this was a good little treat to put two of our favorite things together. * Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken - paired with a Thai Basil Ranch. Brought me back to my childhood where I would go to our local Boba Shop after school and get a boba and some popcorn chicken. I think all it’s missing is the little fried pieces of basil, but the nostalgia this gave me! It could be just a tad bit more crispy, but Che’f kiss!! * Impossible Pot Stickers - shiitake & ginger paired with a standard dumpling sauce. I’m not sure if these had meat or not… but considering the name, I’m assuming it wasn’t real meat? Nonetheless, whatever they did to make these potstickers “meaty” did the job! These were delicious. * Korean Corn Cheese Spring Rolls - gochujang corn cheese, cheddar, pickled sprouts, cajun rice, green onion paired with a salsa cremosa. This was good, but not my personal favorite from our meal. But.. still good. * Super Garlicky Noodles - my husband devoured this, if anyone complains that there wasn’t enough garlic, you’re out of your mind. Every bite was garlic and the noodles were cooked perfectly. * Roasted Brussels Sprouts -paired peanut tamarind glaze. This has got to be the best restaurant Brussels that we have actually loved! They were pretty crispy and the glaze on it wasn’t too heavy. We couldn’t stop munching on these. * Salt n Pepper Shrimp -paired with a Thai Chimichurri. The batter wasn’t heavy, and the shrimp were pretty meaty. We enjoyed the larger pieces of green onion to eat with he shrimp, and the sauce went nicely with it as well. * Pork Belly Ssam - this came out last, so we only had a few bites, but those bites were fantastic! The pork was tender and the fresh herbs & lettuce completed the whole experience of this dish. * Butterfly Pea Flower Lemonade - light and refreshing. It wasn’t sweet, and such a pretty drink to look at.

I'm visiting SA and decided to try Best Quality Daughter late(ish) on a Saturday afternoon. I couldn't get a reservation so decided to throw the dice. The front desk was able to find me a seat, with no wait. Thanks! My server, Blake, told me a little bit about the history of the restaurant and after I asked about the menu he gave me several good choices that, frankly, had my mouth watering before he was finished! I settled on a two of the "smallish" dishes (and had enough left over for a second meal). I noticed that both choices were vegetarian, which, for a confirmed carnivore, was concerning. :) But again, I threw caution to the wind and couldn't have been more pleased. I ordered one of their signature drinks "You Can't tame this Wild Pony." I'm not a huge fan of Mescal...but this drink was flavorful, spicy and delicious. The entree's came out quickly. The wok charred green beans were slightly spicy and tasty. The roasted brussel sprouts were in a peanut-tamarind sauce and slightly sweet. When I went back for second helping I thought of them as the "dessert" of my two orders. Overall, the meal was a complete home run and my mouth is watering just thinking about those leftovers!

Came to best quality daughter for lunch on a Saturday and will definitely make it a must for future visits to San Antonio. The cheese corn egg rolls were delicious and veggie chow fun was perfect to share. Impossible potstickers were good, but not special enough that we won’t explore the rest of the menu next time!

Every dish we ordered was packed with flavour and absolutely delicious. The service was top notch too. Between the three of us, we shared the Impossible pot stickers, crispy brussels sprouts, super garlicky noodles with fried egg, wok-charred green beans, pork belly ssam and curry shrimp fried rice. We may have overordered a bit but only because we wanted to try as much as possible from the menu! Liza was fantastic - super helpful, honest about what might be too much and a great person to chat with.

Dinner here was fantastic. The food was excellent and service was great. The burrata with chili sauce was delicious and I didn't even mind that my mushroom noodle dish was vegetarian. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area.

The food was fantastic. We had the super garlicky noodles and the pork fried rice. The iced jasmine black tea was refreshing without being overly floral. We were able to get a seat on the patio, but definitely make reservations if you want to sit inside. Overall, and beautiful restaurant with good staff and delicious food.

Great place for a wonderful meal. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered the burrata and scallion pancake, green beans, and cashew chicken. Everything was extremely flavorful and tasty. I’m so glad we were able to dine there on our trip to SA!

Went for the first time on a Friday evening for dinner. Cute place. Great friendly service. For drink, I ordered the ' Swear on your Jade Bracelet'. It was delicious. I enjoy pandan, which is like a vanilla flavor but boujee. For food, I ordered the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, absolutely delicious! And the Drunken Noodle Red Curry Mole, which was full of flavor. I would order everything again, in a heartbeat. Definitely recommend!

In town for a visit and this establishment was recommended to us. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff were wonderful. The dishes are family style but even the small plate appetizers were generous enough for the whole table. I recommend the chared green beans!

- The menu has both smallish plates and family style. It’s nice to have options. The food was a nice blend of Asian and American. The server was casual (in a comfortable way), kind and very knowledgeable about the menu. You felt they were here to serve and help, so never felt rushed. The food is fresh and it came out well timed. I never felt like it was taking too long. the potstickers were exactly what you want, crispy on one side and warm in the mouth sake. You could not tell at all it was made with impossible meat. The dipping sauce was flavorful and a little heat. The cocktail all the tea in china tastes like an Arnold Palmer but not. The popcorn chicken had seasoning in the breading and came out hot. There was a side of a ranch type dip, which was fine, but I kept the potsticker dipping sauce for it. The only thing I can be picky about is the ice cream sandwich was a little messy to eat. I had to cut it in half to eat. It was a peaceful delicious meal that made me content and happy.

Absolutely incredible! Every bite was so intentionally flavored and full of depth that it was incredible. We ordered multiple smallish plates (including hush puppies and smashed cucumbers) and were blown away by the complexity of the flavors. Our main dishes were delicious as well. I love the concept of shared mains to continue to encourage conversation and connection with those you’re with. Thank you for a stunning meal, and Blake killed it with service!

We made a reservation but showed up early, was greeted with a smile seated immediately. The vibe is laid back with chill music. Lisa surpassed my expectations. She was our server, and she was awesome! She knew the menu very well and has this thing about her that just makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. This was our first visit, so we tried a few things...and drinks! Everything came out in a timely manner, was presented well, and tasted delicious! The food was hot, fresh, and so flavorful. The drinks were creative and well made. Nothing seemed rushed. Lisa really helped make this first time experience a great one. We'll definitely be making another visit here soon.

If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, this Asian fusion restaurant is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, blending modern design with a hint of traditional Asian aesthetics. But what truly made the evening stand out was the service. Our server (Libby) was absolutely exceptional – attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making perfect recommendations that elevated our meal. The food itself was a masterpiece, a perfect blend of flavors from across the continent. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the unique fusion dishes offered a creative twist on traditional favorites. It's clear that the kitchen pays incredible attention to detail, using only the finest ingredients. Whether you're a fan of bold flavors or looking for something more subtle, this restaurant offers a little something for everyone. With outstanding food, excellent service, and an inviting atmosphere, it’s a dining experience you’ll want to repeat again and again. Highly recommend!

YES! This place is a must-try for all of my vegetarian/vegan friends and I guess you carnivores can go as well. The Brussels Sprouts are great and the ice cream sandwich is an actual sandwich. Great date night spot in a cozy atmosphere. Allison was a phenomenal waitress and was able to meet my finicky habits. The tofu was great. Definitely two thumbs up!! 👍🏽👍🏽

Amazing dining experience. Loved the place and the service was spot on. Must get the pork belly dish, it was delicious and fun. The salt and pepper shrimp were dynamite. Cocktails were also just as good as the food, attention to detail. Not one dish was slacking, order it all and enjoy the meal!

The most delicious dinner out I have had in a while. So flavorful with everything perfectly seasoned. Everything came to the table hot. The beverages were well crafted and presented beautifully. The servers were friendly and accommodating. Great to talk to as I sat at the bar outside. I dined here while at a conference, but I'm already thinking about dining there again before I leave, and figuring out a flight back.

Lat month my wife & I finally got to try BEST QUALITY DAUGHTER. We shared a Smashed Cucumber salad, with heirloom tomatoes, cilantro, & garlic sesame dressing, some Taiwanese Popcorn Fried Chicken served with thai basil ranch, and some delicious Scallion Pancakes served with Burrata cheese & Chili Crab Jam. I tried a Singha Lager & my wife enjoyed a beautiful cocktail called "Above My Pay Grade" made with Shiso Infused Gin, Amaro Nonino, Peach Liqueur, Yuzu Juice, & Lemon Juice. For dessert we had a cute Strawberry Lychee ice cream sandwich with mint & chili honey. The service was fantastic & the dining room had a very cool vibe. My favorite dish was probably the delicious scallion pancakes. My only criticism was that the Fried Chicken could have used a little more seasoning & maybe be served with a sweet chili or spicy sauce in instead of the ranch, but I know people LOVE ranch. All in all It was a great experience & I can't wait to go back because I really wanna try their CURRY GUISADA DAN DAN & the DRUNKEN NOODLE RED CURRY MOLE.

Finally had the pleasure of dining here and I’m very happy to report it did not disappoint! Of course the area is great, but the food was better! Highly recommend sharing with the table so you can try a little bit of everything! I was not crazy about the ice cream sandwich being a literal sandwich (between two pieces of bread), but the ice cream itself was wonderful.

The food was amazing! We got the Taiwanese popcorn chicken, cashew chicken, and their garlic noodles—everything was so good. The place itself is really nice and conveniently located right by the Pearl. We couldn’t stop talking about our dinner even after we left and would definitely go back!

Unique take on Asian cuisines . I liked my dish — drunken noodle red curry mole —- very interesting , and you won’t stop eating . The creamy coconut tom yum noodles felt like too much oily, but it is super creamy , little cheesy after taste …. We would try something else , wasn’t for our tastebuds — hard to eat the entire dish. Inside was very nice and packed, but we had our dog so we sat outside . Great for a date night and family night .

We recently had an exceptional experience at this wonderful establishment. The family-style dining created a warm and inviting atmosphere, the food was outstanding, and the music added the perfect touch. Most notably, the customer service provided by Katherine was truly remarkable. I sincerely hope she is recognized for the dedication and hard work she contributes to making this place so special.

One of my FAVORITE restaurants. The best dining experience. Moody lighting, unique drinks, creative vegan options & interior decor is so cool. Feels kinda like a tucked away spot in NYC. Wish I took more photos, but was too busy enjoying the meal. The impossible potstickers were the best I’ve ever had.

Super cute inside and great service! The cashew chicken and Brussels sprouts are really good and pair perfectly together. The popcorn chicken was also good but separately. I would skip the crab burrata personally, my husband and I each had one bite of it and didn’t want anymore.

This restaurant turns food into memories I will never forget. The taste is matched only by the charm of the place! We had the Roasted Brussels sprouts which were cooked to perfection with a delicious sauce, a definite 10/10! We ordered the creamy coconut Tom Yum noodles and the Cashew Chicken, also 10/10…every bite = happiness! Words are difficult to come by to describe just how delicious everything was! We finished it off with a strawberry lychee and Vietnamese ice cream sandwich. So delicious also! A definite stop if you are in the Pearl area of San Antonio!

Very cool atmosphere/place and those potstickers were probably the best I've had. The mochi cheddar hush puppies and popcorn chicken were hits and we enjoyed the salt and pepper shrimp and the drunken noodle curry mole. Ice cream sandwiches were interesting! Service was outstanding.

Didn't know about emerging Chef Jennifer spot or that Chef Jose visited till I visited the restaurant myself and tasted the amazing food. Situated in San Antonio's Historic Pearl district, is a creative fusion cuisine that blends Chinese-American comfort food with other flavors such as mochi hush puppies, and 🥟 mixed with all kinds of ingredients. We also had Dan Dan noodles mixed with brisket and waygu beef, curry that will blow your socks off with flavors and spice. Make sure you get all the sides, I enjoyed the popcorn chicken even though it's a bit non traditional with the bigger pieces, but still plenty of flavors to bring you home comfort or boba shop memoriesm. Definite appreciated Chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin honoring her heritage and williness to try new things, and enjoy supporting another Asian food restaurant on the come up. It was a fun dining experience in a beautifully designed space. You can see the unique style with the decorations and art in a historical house. With an array of cocktails, all the teas of China was tasty and the jade bracelet was good too. Nightshade with vibrant colors and the marg looked good too. You won't be disappointed with any of them. Overall an excellent experience. I would drive from Austin to dine there again. Make sure you make a reservation, I bet it would get packed. Also it's on the expensive side of Chinese food dishes but strong portions and plenty of items you can share family style

Came in yesterday for the first time and it was amazing. It was Sunday around 2 PM. They are mainly reservation based and had a long wait to be seated inside but they did let us know that outdoor seating was available so that's where we went! It was a little chilly but they turned on some heaters so it felt really nice! Olivia was our server and she was so great!! They made sure to note any allergies and took time to explain how the restaurant works. They also explained one of the dishes to us so we weren't surprised with the spiciness of the dish. Great service from them! In terms of the food, I thought everything was so delicious! We ordered the pork fried rice as well as the dumplings and popcorn chicken. I loved the sauce that came with the chicken and the fried rice was SO yummy. The plates are family style so our main entree was the rice with the dumplings and chicken as our sides. It was me and my fiancé and that was plenty for us, we even had some leftovers. The dumplings had a sharper taste which was delicious but a little hard to get the grasp of at first but they are marinated very well which I liked. TONS of flavor! I'm not too picky about presentation so I don't have much to say on that. As long as the food tastes good I don't care what it looks like, haha! All in all, this place was great! I can't wait to go back!

We made a lunch reservation for 1pm here and the service atmosphere and food were all amazing. Drink recommendations: swear on your jade bracelet (such an interesting sweet taste), night shades and all the tea in china (more refreshing/fruity taste) Food: cashew chicken, curry guisada, curry shrimp fried rice all AMAZINGG. especially the curry shrimp fried rice. Our server was amazing also, very attentive. I would recommend making a reservation since it does get busy. Parking around the pearl is usually okay, lots of lot options and garage in walking distance. Make sure to arrive early for parking especially if there’s an event going on. Recommend for any occasion!!!!

Went here for a birthday and came back a week later because I hadn’t stopped thinking about their noodles and cocktails 😩 The second time, we went during the Lunar New Year menu and again EVERYTHING was incredible. We got lucky and walked in around 6p on a Sunday and got seated immediately at the patio bar (which is walk-in only), and Gretchen (our server) was knowledgeable and super friendly. The citrus salad was so fresh and full of flavor and the sea bass was incredibly seasoned and had a great crunch. The tofu was great and the portion on that was HUGE. But my favorite dish was the shrimp with Tom Yum noodles and a Panang kind of curry - it was seriously the best thing I’ve eaten in months. This entire place is top-notch. I live in Austin but I’ll eat here any time I’m in San Antonio

There are very few times when Google does not allow a user to give 10 stars and my experience with Best Quality Daughter is one of those times. Best Quality Daughter was a remarkable experience - 10 stars on all counts- food- service - atmosphere - and to this I would add diversity of people, dishes and sheer beauty where the former Head of the Pearl Brewery lived. Chef Jennifer Dobbertin's Chinese-American heritage and travels have been skillfully developed into a fun, stylish atmosphere and innovative cocktails with unique dishes that blend Asian flavors with Texas influences. BQD was amazing. We started - and shared easily as dishes are serve family style- with the potstickers which were hearty and delicately flavored to perfection served with a side sauce of shiitake and ginger. The Mochi Cheddar Hush Puppies were fun too- large enough for one to be two or three bites! Cooked to perfection- no gummy interior. We were hungry so we added the smashed Cucumber thinking they may be served pulverized? But no! Delicately cut into perfect bite size with plenty of heirloom tomatoes sharing the bowl with a delicate and well balanced dressing that was not heavy- as refreshing as this fresh salad! Our entree included the Cashew Chicken (best Cashew Chicken I had EVER had- I don’t do spicy foods and this dish was ideal!!) and we could not resist the Drunken Noodle Red Curry Mole. I was prepared for it to be too spicy - but have no fear - not sure how the kitchen does it - but it too was delicious and overly spicy. It had a kick- but not so much that I had to grab water. The NA drinks are as good as the with alcohol drinks- I enjoyed the Butterfly Pea Flower Lemonade - and then followed with Nightshade’s (Allspice Infused Gin, Butterfly Pea Flower Syrup, Lemon, Tonic, Soda, Thai Basil). Oh dear. They were both divine. We did splurge (with a little bit of tummy space we had left!) for a birthday dessert. The Vietnamese Coffee ice cream sandwich did not disappoint. It was an ideal late afternoon Saturday meal which easily carried us through a pleasant spring like evening in San Antonio, Texas. But before we left the Pearl venue, we did make our way over to Jue Let- a thoughtfully inspired bar also by the very brilliant Jennifer Doverton, with the name as a polite and thoughtful nod to the Chinese immigrant that raised James Beard.

The food was great and the service and staff were amazing. My only minor gripe was the menu didn't have some common dishes you'd find at most Asian restaurants. But that got me out of my usual comfort zone. I was able to try something new and loved it. Big thank you to the hostess who was learning to make drinks and made us her two favorites. Lastly book reservations ahead of time. They seem to always stay busy

A very relaxing little place on the edge of the pearl. We enjoyed several sides and entrées and shared them between the three of us. Also indulged in a few cocktails. Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic! We stayed for 3 hours visiting and chatting. The restaurant started to get really busy and we never once were we bothered by the staff. This place is also not over priced like many places at the Pearl district.

We met a friend at Best Quality Daughter for lunch on Tuesday Nov. 2. It was our second time at the restaurant. Overall, I love this place and will definitely be back! On this absolutely beautiful day, we sat outside per our friend's request. I can't recommend the outside seating due to it's proximity to the highway. The traffic noise was loud, and to me, distracting. If that isn't a thing for you then you may enjoy it. We ordered from the lunch menu. The prices on the lunch menu were pretty good (esp. for the Pearl) and the portions were not small. Phew. The server was enjoyable, borderline entertaining. But ... all 4 of our entrees came out at 3 different times. It was uncomfortable because our friend is older and a slower eater and his came out much later than all of ours. All of the food is tasty, lovely and absolutely beautiful to look at. My husband and I both ordered the salt and pepper shrimp. It came with the peels, legs and tails intact. This was not a problem for my husband. He picked the legs and tails off and ate the shells. Ugh. I was not going to do this. Picking the peels off was a bit tedious and there was sooo much red (chili ?) oil on it that I went through napkins like crazy and felt like a cave man going at my food. Neither of us would order that entree again. My daughter had the stuffed tofu and ate half of it. She said it was good but didn't want a go-box. Our friend had the cashew chicken. He said he enjoyed it. The ice cream sandwiches were incredibly tasty, though not super easy to it. So tasty ... worth a couple awkward moments for me. ;) The restauranteurs come across as very clever and creative people. The indoor seating areas are really cool. The drink names though! The drinks have the funniest and most witty names. It all makes for a great experience. I give it a solid 4.5. (Why won't Yelp let me do half a star? ugh.) PS The first time we ate here we ordered the dan dan noodles and fried rice and I'm still thinking about them. SOOOO delicious. I will get those next time ... and the short rib noodles. YUM!

We really enjoyed our dinner. Each room has its own unique design in an old, renovated house. We were thrilled with the drinks. I had the nightshade, and the kids had the lemonade. The Thai salted lemonade was the best. As other reviews have said, the cashew chicken was the best entree, but the dumplings were the best dish overall. Since it was my birthday, our kind server brought us a dessert with a candle. It was very thoughtful.

First time there, great vibes and ambience! The food was good. The hostess was the sweetest most accommodating I’ve come across! I do wish the bar had a few bar chairs or maybe a couple of small 2 seater tables but it is a tight spot. Overall a good experience!

I’ve been wanting to dine here for a while, but it’s always been tough to get a table on the weekends. Finally made it in on a Wednesday and really enjoyed it. I can be a bit picky with food and usually prefer my fried rice plain, but everything was well done. The atmosphere was spot on, the cashew chicken was the best thing we ordered and we had good service.

Came here for dinner after reading a few reviews and a recommendation. The food was mixed - I really wished I enjoyed it more! Not sure what that says about my tastes... Of the dishes we ordered, the stars were the garlicky noodles, the salt and pepper shrimp, and the pork fried rice. The shrimp dish especially with the chimichurri dipping sauce (otherwise it was quite a bit too salty). I learned that I did not like chicken fried steak - frying steak seems to make it tougher than it needs to be. The special appetizer of mushroom skewers were in the style of "cumin lamb skewers" but lacked the burnt, crispy texture, and turned out to have a good taste, but too soft texture. The Korean corn cheese spring rolls were just as they were described, tasted good but not special. We also ventured to try a few of the alcoholic boba milk teas, and the only one I really liked was the Hong Kong Long Con - with a great name! The matcha one surprised us by tasting more like a minty, cereal milk than matcha. The service was outstanding as is the atmosphere - old house turned into restaurant with Chinese/Asian influence and art without becoming too blatantly stereotypical. Great job! Would recommend for specific dishes and the experience. Note: the family-style portions are large enough for 2-3 people each!

Unique takes on dishes we enjoyed included smashed cucumbers, garlic noodles, popcorn chicken, and Brussels sprouts. The margarita tinged with rose water called “Are you there, God? It’s me, Margarita” was equally different, in a good way. Not sweet, and just enough rosewater, which isn’t as easily done in a dish or drink than might be imagined. Popular place, we happened upon it and tried to do lunch inside at 12:30 only to discover no available tables until 3, opting instead to sit outside under the covered patio with fans, which was pretty warm, but still doable in the low 90s, as it’s configured as sort of a lean-to on the old Victorian main building that houses the restaurant, which is probably one of my favorite-ever named ones —“Best Quality Daughter” was a great place to go with my own daughter on a fun girls-only, belated Mother’s Day getaway.

The server was very friendly and gave us great recommendations for our first visit to Best Quality Daughter! The food, however, failed to meet our expectations. While the Asian American fusion was unique and non-traditional, the scallion pancakes were doughy and overcooked. Additionally, the fried rice and drunken noodles were too salty which overpowered the other flavors. The Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken was our personal favorite with an incredible Szechuan Five Spice Blend and zesty Thai Basil Sauce which exploded with flavor. Worth a try if you are in the mood for a different take on Asian Cuisine (make sure to make a reservation ahead of time)! The portion sizes are relatively filling, and we had to take leftovers home.

The food is the star at this place. Incredible flavor and a variety of delicious dishes. Highly, HIGHLY recommend the roasted Brussels sprouts and Taiwanese popcorn chicken appetizers. As for mains, the drunken noodles and the cashew chicken were both unreal. So so good. We also got the pork belly which was fantastic. The pork fried rice was a big disappointment. None of us liked it and it went to waste. Beyond the food, it is a cure vibe and unique atmosphere. Very comfortable. Service was a bit of a miss overall for us. The bartenders and hostess were all great, humorous and helpful but the actual servers/waiters were a let down. Not personable, minimal interaction and just flat out looked unhappy. As a party of 3 and it being the first time there, we wish our server offered more guidance with our order. All in all, we would absolutely go back in a heartbeat - the food is amazing!

Strong Thai influence at this Asian/fusion restaurant. The appetizers steal the show. I highly recommend the hush puppies and popcorn chicken. Pot stickers and eggrolls were good too. I do not recommend the brussel sprouts. The entrees were all good, but the appetizers were better and are filling. Drinks were creative but a little on the weak side. Great drink names. Service was prompt and pleasant throughout the meal. Fun place.

I was visiting San Antonio with my family for the weekend. Some friends recommended going to Pearl District, so we went. The first place out of the parking lot was this. A quick search and we were sold. It´s a nice place, and the hostess was very kind, as was the server. Regarding the food, we went with an appetizer and two bigger dishes. The chicken was just bad, too greasy, almost no flavor, with a dipping sauce that was bland. We were disappointed. But then the two main dishes arrived, and they were very good. The pork with rice was tasty and enough to feed two people; the noodles were delicious, albeit a bit spicy (server told us beforehand). We were seated in a patio of sorts, and even though it´s nice, I´d rather be seated inside, as the weather is not that forgiving (too humid and hot). In the end, most of the food was pretty good, and one dish was just bad. Prices are fair, except for the noodles, which were expensive for what they are. Still, I´d recommend this place to anyone that wants some good food. I also did not like the server rushing to get us out of there. Maybe I´m not used to that where I come from, but we were not there for more than an hour and we hadn´t even finished our meals.

Best Quality Daughter impresses with its creative Asian American fusion and whimsical ambiance rooted in chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin’s heritage. The crispy Brussels sprouts with peanut-tamarind offered a bold kick, appealing to fans of spicy fare. The Drunken Noodle with red curry mole stood out for its tender meat and well-balanced flavors, one of the most satisfying dishes of the meal. In contrast, the super garlicky noodles with shrimp and curry shrimp fried rice were underwhelming, lacking that extra spark. A major highlight was the ice cream sandwich combo—black sesame paired with strawberry-lychee—which easily became the menu’s standout treat. Though the food offered memorable highs, the dining experience didn’t fully measure up to my expectations. The service was a bright spot, attentive, flexible, and genuinely gracious. The atmosphere, while stylish and funky (think pastel-hued historic cottage with lively decor), felt merely modest in enhancing the overall dining experience. In short, Best Quality Daughter delivers inventive dishes and warm hospitality, but a few inconsistencies keep it from being a flawless outing.

Made reservations for lunch and were immediately seated at a very nice booth. The server presented us with dinner menus. We asked for a lunch menu but she told us they don’t advertise lunch specials during the holidays….(Although, their online menu states the lunch menu is offered daily,) There was no mention of limitations during the holiday period. We were hoping to try different dishes from their lunch selections. We were then pushed to order from the dinner menu in which everything is double in price. Needless to say we ordered the Drunken Noodles Red Curry Mole and an order of the pot stickers and were quite pleased with the food. Overall a good experience but the server was very elusive about the reason they don’t offer their lunch specials. Big disappointment and it was obvious she was ready for us to move on. Won’t be back anytime soon. Update: Received a call from the Restaurant Manager and she apologized for the misunderstanding / experience and refunded our entire meal. It’s good to know that the lunch menu is available daily even through the Holidays. We’ll give lunch a try again next time we’re downtown San Antonio. Thank you Frankie!

Fun eclectic place to go. The decor is super cool with a different wall paper in every room. The food was good as well as the service. We shared a couple of plates. The appetizers were my favorites. Popcorn chicken is a must. The drinks were fun but wasn’t a big fan of the selection. The service was great.

This was such a great experience for me since I am gluten free and there was great options to try. The server was well versed in the menu. We tried a little bit of everything, even stuff we were hesitant to try like that BANG BANG JAPCHAE SALAD which was sweet potato noodles, local oyster mushrooms, napa cabbage, herbs, seasonal Farm to Table veggies, roasted sunflower seeds, bang bang dressing. Served cold. It was so GOOD. Recommended for gluten free and while I’m not vegetarian it would be good for vegetarians too!

I was really excited to finally try this place after hearing so many great reviews. It’s a charming, cozy spot set in a house from the early 1900s right in the Pearl District. Definitely recommend making a reservation if you’re going on the weekend. Our waiter was super friendly and took the time to walk us through the dishes we were curious about, which I appreciated. We started with the Korean corn cheese spring rolls…absolutely a 10/10, so delicious! We also ordered the smashed cucumber salad. Since I make this at home pretty often, it didn’t stand out to me, so I’d give it a 5/10. For our main, we went with the salt and pepper shrimp. The crisp was perfect, so I’d rate it 8/10. We’ve had this dish elsewhere with a little more flavor, but the dipping sauce they serve it with added a nice kick. We also tried the fried rice (not pictured), which was solid…about a 7/10. As for cocktails, I had the margarita and the “Swear on Your Jade.” They were fine but nothing memorable…5/10 for both. Overall, it’s a really cute spot for date night or even a casual lunch if you’re nearby. We’ll definitely be back to try a few more dishes!

I made the mistake of ordering such heavy foods for my first meal of the day. Cheddar mochi bites were interesting. I preferred this over the corn cheese springs rolls. My boyfriend and I took a bite of the corn cheese spring rolls and kind of lost our appetites after that. It had such an odd taste, I can’t put my finger on it. They should’ve paired it with a sweet chili sauce instead of crema, since the roll itself is already rich. The curry guisada Dan Dan noodles were really good but again very rich and heavy. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken tasted fine but it does have a slight numbing factor from the sichuan pepper. Overall, the atmosphere is a vibe. Service wasn’t great. Food was okay.

The ambience was very nice, staff was welcoming and there was no wait. We got the mochi hush puppies, corn cheese spring rolls, and cashew chicken. Everything was pretty good, maybe just not my favorite. The hush puppies weren’t super flavorful, and the spring rolls were an odd texture for me. The menu is designed to have a few small plates and one large plate to share, and that made it tough for me and my partner who have different taste in food. We even found the one large plate to be too much us. Overall not bad, but not my favorite

We had wonderful food, but most people wouldn’t have the chance to eat here without reservations. The hostess is very quick to give a snarky response about being full till closing and they work off reservations. I asked for bar seating which she stated was also full, but that would be our only option. We went to the outside bar area which only has about 8 seats at the bar, but a large amount of open tables in “the bar area”. I asked another staff which I got the same snappy response when I asked which area was the bar seating area that they were full. We were then asked to go check in with the hostess, even though the hostess had sent us out here. We waited about 10 minutes before they said we couldn’t wait in the area we were waiting and sent us back to the hostess to “check in” for the open bar seating. We knew people were just finishing paying, but they assured us all of the guests are just mid-dinner and we would have a long wait if we got sat at all. For being an out of town guest, it was not inviting at all! We had walked over 30 minutes to get here so I wasn’t going to leave and walk to another place. We finally got a space at the bar area which cleared fairly fast compared to what we had been told. Our bar tender/server was kind, but one of our food items (green beans) arrived when we were done eating and ready to pay. I think it had been forgotten because she had to go check on it and told us that she had to get a manager to have it made. Customer service is severely lacking from the first staff that are supposed to be the most inviting or helpful, I can’t imagine how many guests are turned away and don’t return because of this. If my husband wouldn’t have recommended it (he was part of a group of 6-7 pilots / Boeing flight team that ate here without reservations) I would have walked out and not been back. Please talk with your hostess team about customer service skills!

Unfortunately, Quality Daughter didn’t live up to the hype. The service felt rushed. The server was constantly at our table, which made the experience feel hurried rather than welcoming. The food itself was disappointing and lacked the flavor and quality we expected given the reputation. With so much buzz around this place, it was a letdown. At this point, the name feels ironic… maybe Least Quality Daughter would be more fitting.

I have many bad things to say about specifically the food. 1. Burnt oil was used on my pot stickers which gave it a foul taste 2. The pork used in the pot stickers was like a chorizo and gave it a heavy oily flavor 3. They had way too much coconut fat used in all of the dishes that have coconut 4. My cup still had lipstick on it when I received my water 5. An insane amount of saffron was used in my curry which made it too overpowering to even taste anything else except saffron. 6. If im paying 20-30$ per person I expect good food, this place did nothing right. Please dont think anything about this place is authentic because its the worst fusion i have ever had. Cant get anything thats thai right here, they need to fix their spice and fat ratio and MAYBE this place might be good. Every sauce they had is good though I did enjoy those.
