Ask for Karina or Greg. They are outstanding when it comes to costumer service, love them both. We never have a problem when we have them as our server
Y’all…get off the river and come eat at this authentic family style restaurant. So fast, very reasonable, way clean…and yummy! Best restaurant chips; we took some with us. You will not be disappointed. Shout out to Leslie B for making great recommendations and taking care of us! 🌮 😁👏🏼
This is an amazing restaurant! I've been coming here for years and the customer service is beyond fantastic along with the food I went today with my mom during lunch hour and we were seated immediately. Within 5-10 minutes we had our drinks and our food It was incredibly fast and our food was very hot Our waitress was kind and kept asking if we were doing okay or if we needed anything The food was amazing (as always) There is a reason why me and my family keep coming back
We had a large party (12) & they were very accommodating even doing separate checks (5) without hesitation. And wait was not long at all. Will totally be back!
I’m visiting from out of town. I was starving and when my mom asked me what I wanted to eat I replied ‘some good Mexican Food!’ So we went to Don Pedro’s. It was a Friday night and the wait was supposed to be 30 minutes, but it was only about 15. We were promptly seated, our drink orders taken and chips and salsa served. (The salsa was very tasty) and I ordered my favorite food: Carne Guisada plate. It was amazing! The meat was incredibly tender and the sauce was delicious. The rice and beans were a nice compliment. I’ll be back for more.
A south side staple. You can come here at anytime of operating hours and receive a great experience however if you get a chance to come sat or sun morning you will experience the best buffet of your life
Every time I come here the food is amazing and tastes good. The kitchen was running a little behind when we went but our server did a good job at keeping our teas filled and chips and salsa full.
The best. We drive fr the north west side because it's the best.been going there for years. Keep up the good work 👍c y'all soon😃
Don Pedro's is my family's favorite Mexican Food Restaurant. We've been going there over 30 years and we love it!
Great place. No precooked good. Everything prepared in house. We really enjoyed the visit.
Breakfast buffet is awesome. From menudo barbaco and omelets made the way you want
Loved this place. It was packed for late on a Thursday but they say this place stays busy. We have the Don Pedro Special plate. Tons of food. The chili was perfectly cooked Ina. Very light airy crust. The tomato sauce on top was excellent. The enchilada was the best I have had in San Antonio. Salsa was very tasty. On the negative the puffy taco was bland. As were the rice and beans. Over all 5 stars. Will be back.
Probably the best Mexican restaurants in SA. We love coming here. Food is always delicious and the staff is so friendly and polite. Tea refills always ready. Hats off to the cooks back in the kitchen for always being consistent with the food. Greatly appreciate you. Keep up the great job mgmt.
First time coming and the food was great. Our server Joey was very attentive and gave us excellent service. We will definitely be coming back.
Our waitress was very nice polite. She was very kind checked on the table every other five minutes to ask you when you refills or a plate to go. Maira D was awesome
We chose the breakfast buffet and were treated to a omelette making show and very good service. Very kind and timely waitstaff and servers. Inviting and warm atmosphere with authentic Mexican flare. Highly recommend.!
Branded name! You'll not really ever be disappointed here! Been around for such a long time and what does that say about endurance and continuity! Start off with delicious chips. Order a sweet tea and water. And stick with what you know... Enchiladas! Grab your flour or corn tortillas and run it thru the beans and rice! Can't wait to return again! 👍
We went in at 8:30 (party of two) and got seated right away. We ordered beer, iced tea and water. Waitress brought the drinks right away. We ordered a full order of nachos with avocado, plus added beef fajitas. Delicious! The waitress was wonderful. We even got to listen to some mariachis.
The service was really great the waitress checked on us frequently and brought exactly what we asked for. The food was really good, came out quick each time we went. I highly recommend this place
I say that a lot of times my wife and I go out to eat the service is poor but I'll tell you what.. Joey has been the best service we have ever had so far Joey,we love you, brother. If there were most servers like him,the world will be better. PS: THE CABRITO ASADO IS EXTREMELY GOOD God bless you,Joey.
First time visiting. Went on a Sunday. We had to wait about 5 mins. We didn't mind even though the hostess missed us. Chips n salsa are good. Only thing I thought was weird is that they don't put cheese on top of the enchiladas. Some of the plates don't come with rice and beans they charge extra. Overall the food was really good. Service was awesome. Will be going back. Thanks
Excellent service and food, as always. Our server made sure we had everything we needed regularly checking on us for a refill. My husband ordered the enchiladas,( the #1, again) n said the sauce on them was excellent, along with the puffy tacos. I ordered a small beef soup. It came with plenty of beef, a small piece of corn, cabbage, and zuchinni, with a side of rice. The rice was excellent, also, seasoned and cooked perfectly. The tortillas were soft and pliable. Everything was so good including the hot sauce so we ordered extra to take home along with a BIG bag of tortilla chips (8.25). We will definitely be back! Also everything was very clean and it was not crowded in dining area. BTW, lunch is served at 10:45, but U can order one of the lunch specials before that time. The tres leches cake was also delicious with a hint of cinnamon. I ate half of that before the meal, lol. I considered it Breakfast.
Chips and salsa, chefs kiss. Famous enchiladas, chefs kiss. Sizzling fajita platter, chefs kiss. Margaritas, chefs kiss. Service, chefs kiss. 😘 Been coming here for years and always leave happy. We have moved away from SA but make it a point to stop in everytime we come back to town for a visit.
I had a wonderful experience thanks to my server Joey he really made me emotional the way he made my family happy and all laughing we all had an memorable dinner together like a core memory.
I've been coming here for over 30 years, and the food and service has always been top-notch! Even a few years ago, it was amazing to see some of the same servers still working there from when I was a kid. It's also great to see the newer servers who are just as friendly and attentive as those in the past! I take my kids now, and they love it too! Thanks, Don Pedro's, for many years of deliciousness! 💪🔥🙏
So good! I had enchiladas, some of the best I have had. The place is very cute inside, plenty of parking and plenty of space for lunch or dinner with family and friends. Friendly waitstaff, great experience
Walsome here,,great servies, we had todays special have the day I had chicken fajitas, cheese enchiladas, veins and rice, homemade flour tortillas corn tortillas great salsa, my husband had beef fajitas with homemade corn tortillas, cheese enchiladas with chili come up with rice period and we both just loved it atmosphere is nice would be nicer if they had music in the background, but no musice. I would recommend this place hands down over everything else here in San Antonio.Tx. restaurant is on Southwest Military Drive
Our first time at Don Pedro's. We were impressed with how big this place really is. Greeted immediately as we walked in. Very authentic decor. We got seated, but we're waiting for 2 others. The waitress got our drinks and was not even concerned about the wait for our guests to arrive. She was very friendly, answered all our questions, and made accommodations. The food came out pretty quick and tasted great. My wife lived her food and said it was so good. She had tge tilapia and shrimp. I had chicken enchiladas. Our daughter had a combo platter. We all finished everything with no take hone bags needed. That's how good it was. If back in San Antonio, we won't hesitate to come back to Don Pedro's. It was great food in a nice restaurant with great service. Highly recommend!
We are from the Valley but live in Houston Texas. We were told by a sheriff to try this place out. I'm so glad we took his recommendation this place is a 10 out of 10. From the service to the food. Absolutely delicious 💯 We got the carne guisada plate and added an enchilada. 🤤 we will definitely be back when In town.
I went to Don Pedro’s for the buffet and had a great experience The food was fresh, hot, and constantly being refilled, so everything tasted really good. Definitely worth it! Our server Nayeli was super friendly and was super nice and stopped by whenever we needed anything and very fast with service Kye the busser was also really friendly He was fast paced clearing tables and keeping everything clean He also checked in to make sure we had everything we needed like napkins and to-go cups, which I really appreciated Overall the service made the buffet experience even better. Clean, fast, and friendly — I’ll definitely be back.
We came in to celebrate our son's birthday. We had an amazing experience. Our waiter Joey was awesome. He went above and beyond for us. And his sense of humor was awesome. We really enjoyed our time. Joey keep being you. May God bless you
Don Pedro is our favorite Mexican food restaurant. We live out of town and have been coming here for many many years. Our family in another state also come here to eat when they come to visit me. We can always depend on Don Pedro to be consistently delicious. Thank you so much. Yummy.❣️
We've not visited Don Pedro's in years. They have never disappointed me or my guests. Excellent food. The food was served almost immediately. We enjoyed the meal. Great sweet iced tea. We took 3 boxes home to finish later. You should try this place out for yourself. They score a 10 and we'll be back soon.
Shared a plate of chicken & beef fajitas, charo beans, grilled peppers& onions, guacamole & corn & flour tortillas! Delicious & accidentally had a frozen Tamarindo margarita with a bottle of something sticking out of it, also Delicious with a bit of a kick! A strong kick ! I was the driver, needless to say, we couldn't leave right away, had to order more chips & salsa & a large glass of water!. . .lol!
We have loved almost everything we have tried, but the queso flameado and chips are deliciously unreal and keep us coming back! The service has been terrific each and every time with patient, helpful, and attentive servers. We also love that the restaurant is large enough that we can generally expect to get right in and seated. As it gets later, though, it definitely gets more popular and a little crowded. TVs are just large and spaced enough to catch a game.
I've been to Don Pedro's hundreds of times. I've never had the breakfast buffet. It was fantastic. We had coffee and tea. The omelet bar and the main buffet line. Everything was excellent. The coffee was amazing. The waitress was delightful. Friendly and stopped by several times to check on us. She answered several questions to help us out. I spoke with the manager before we left the let him know about our experience. He said they were having a meeting on Sunday, and he'd let everyone know how wonderful our visit was.
Ordered a Regular Dinner. Good, but the puffy tacos are not what they used to be. The taco shell is kind of tough. Maybe they're not frying them correctly or they're sitting out. Could definitely use improvement. Enchiladas, beans, and rice were great. The chips and salsa or also very good. Only tried the red salsa. Green is hotter. I have to say you won't get faster service anywhere. That includes fast food restaurants. Literally, no more than 3 minutes after the order was placed, the plate arrived. Even before the drinks which arrived shortly thereafter. The place was not very busy, but the service is usually very, very quick.
I have eaten here many times. The food is great & service on point! There can be a wait on weekends and special occasion. I prefer to go when it isn't as busy. Portions are decent. Drinks are great!! Again the service is old school, they actually take the time to make sure you don't need anything and you are served quickly. I was very impressed our last visit!
The food was good as usual, also prompt but we had new waiter today, Joey M was exceptional, he made our evening, very pleasant, checked on us multiple times. Plan to ask for him from now on!

Service was excellent! Food was great. Hardly no waiting time. Prices were good, cheaper than hand burger and fries. Happy hour made for another great time. Parking was a little tuff.

Best Mexican food I have had in San Antonio in 10 years of living here. Best puffy tacos in SA
Food is great! Not expensive at all...and portions are good! Service is fast and waiter was really nice and attentive. \n\nFamily friendly atmosphere

Went for a quick lunch as we were on this side of town. Wasn't our first time and we come here for tex mex enchiladas. The tables were very clean and they were steady. We were given chips and salsa and we ordered enchiladas with puffy tacos. It's a good place for quick service, cheesy enchiladas, and if your craving Southside texmex.
This is my 3rd time here, twice for evening parties and once for breakfast. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this is a nice establishment from the hacienda layout to the decorated tile floors, the cushioned seating, and spacious atmosphere. The service is good, food here is decent but not necessarily the best in San Antonio. I will say the breakfast prices are some of the best around. Particularly the tacos. Definitely worth a try if you've been around. I'm sure it will be a good experience.
My husband and I stopped at this restaurant this weekend for the first time. The restaurant is clean and we received good service. We’re always going to Mexican food restaurants and this one was good. My husband enjoyed his carne asada plate and I had enchiladas coloradas. The enchiladas were good with queso fresco. Be very careful the plates arrive to your table extremely hot. They had many options in their menu. We ordered a michelada and it was good not the best but definitely good. We’ll be returning to Don Pedro Mexican Restaurant. If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth a try.
Who hasn't been to don Pedro's at least once. It's a south San Antonio landmark up there with bud Jones. Me personally I am not the biggest fan but I go because my wife is a fan. The prices are a little high but the food is good. The place gets packed sometimes . The restaurant is huge with a lot of seats . A big bar and a lot of wait staff. There is a good chance if you go on a weekend there will be a big party going on, or maybe a couple.
Ok... so food. Amazing! (Please don't fire the chef and everyone behind the scenes in the kitchen... or give them a good raise. Well deserved.) Although, the only thing I can complain about is... when ordering food to be delivered. The food delivered... was not it. I guess because of the time it takea from point A to point B, affects the taste... Dine in, BIG yes. Always leaving the place STUFFED. No room for dessert, unfortunately. Unless you share your plate, or take some home for later. Again, taste might be different.
The food and service at this place are great! 10/10 recommend. I recently was in town visiting and stopped by this gem. Dora, our waitress provided amazing service! If you ever plan a visit make sure to ask for Dora!
Lunch Time Specials. Overall the lunch specials averaged $8 for the cheapest plate (enchiladas), and more than $10 for the puffy taco plate. Service started out slow and then picked up and our server became.a little nicer. Portions were good and the puffy tacos as expected fell apart quickly even though our food came out fairly quickly. Not your everyday lunchtime restaurant considering the prices. I paid about $35 for all 3 of our meals. So I believe it was overpriced for lunchtime. I don't recall if the drinks were included with the meals because she gave us water. 100 other places to eat for way away less.
We've been going to Don Pedro's for years. It's been pretty consistent throughout. The food is really good as well as the portions vs the price. It is a popular place so be prepared to wait during peak times. The service and staff are excellent. Usually parking isn't an issue either. The only downsides are it can get abnormally loud inside - so much that you can strain to have a normal conversation. Also, for whatever reason you will leave with your clothes smelling like food. Every time.
We always go for the buffet on weekends. The omelette is always great made fresh in front of you. Fresh fruit and pastries for dessert. The menudo can use some help but it's great for the money. 15.99 for the breakfast buffet and this includes your drinks.
Breakfast buffet is awesome but the hostesses and wait staff are inconsistent. Sometimes they are okay other times they lack maturity. It costs them a star. 8 years later, Don Pedro Mexican Restaurant is still serving up good food. Today's waiter was attentive and took good care of us.
Haven't been here in a while but a family member wanted to come. Server was attentive and got our orders correct. The food though lacked flavor especially the chili sauce. The chile relleno was under cooked while the rice was super dry. Beans were great and so was the chips and salsa. Overall there are more authentic tex-mex restaurants to visit in the city that are consistent with their flavoring.

I love Tex-mex and can eat it just about everyday. The queso was delicious and chicken enchiladas were decent. Location is huge, so no problem accommodating large parties.
Food was good, they just don't do alternatives if there is something you don't like. Very friendly waitress. I was bummed about the atmosphere because when you walk into the bar area there is music and fun atmosphere but they sat us in the back dining area where all we heard were phone calls and pick up orders.
The service was great and while they weren't serving...they were cleaning. I didn't have to ask for anything. I ordered three tostadas bean and cheese...and asked for SLICES OF AVACADO...but they gave me that nasty green stuff (tasted like it came from an envelope)and it was supposed to have tomato....lucky to have three slices. First and last time there for me....I paid $19 for three tostadas and a soda.
Food on buffet was cold, tortillas were cold, but if you asked your waiter they would bring you fresh hot tortillas. The made to order omelets were fantastic. But for $13.99 all you can eat, I will most likely return to try it again. My waiter was attentive.
Pretty good place to eat. Very good customer service and the chips and Salsa was amazing as well but when it was time for the food to come out it fell flat. Didn’t impress me at all unfortunately. I hear from the people around the place say this restaurant has been here for years and is an amazing Mexican restaurant so maybe it was just my plate.
Went yesterday and it was super packed. Told by greeter wait would be 30min.My husband went back 20mins later and was told 30 to 40 more mins. Greeter seem like she didn't know what she was doing. Seems like they were more concerned about seating large parties. Food was cold. Waiter never checked to see if we needed refills. Never got my guacamole and cup of ice.
Even though food was OK they forgot to give me my tortillas to go with my order. They didn't give any utensils. I've been a customer for more then 40yrs. And until now that iam a Senior, I would think this place would have more compassion, this place is suppose to be a staple for this community instead I get cheated. I can sat pay more attention to staff/customers.
We used to eat here long ago for business meetings. We recently visited DP for breakfast....The food taste the same as any other Mexican restaurant down military. Nothing special or different and the service was mediocre. At least the pancakes were good. Not to mention slight language barrier. Plenty of parking but can get busy in the evenings. Plenty of smiling faces to greet you and bid farewell. But not sure if we will be back. An average costs for 3 for breakfast ran us $20-35. Thx - 210reviewer
Not the best I’ve had in San Antonio but I did enjoy my meal. The place was packed for a Wednesday evening. Even with the crowds my service was attentive and efficient. The salsa was very good with a little kick. I had 1/2 order of ranchero nachos which again…not the best I’ve had, but got the job done. My main dish was grilled chicken breast with avocado salad. The chicken was a little dry but seasoned well. Don Pedro is a good option for this side of town, I just wouldn’t go out of the way for it.
Food mediocre, ambiance too loud and service was good. I think for the price it could have been a lot better. It used to be really good mow it's ver commericalized.

Went to breakfast buffet, not a big selection of breakfast items, their egg station was great the people working the station wrre very friendly. Their service was good.
great food and service, but the coffe is SUPER watered down. for the price of it and the size of the cups they serve , expected at least a decent cup of coffe. ruins the breakfast experience. fix your coffee!!! make it a bit stronger !! bring your own instant packs or outside coffee if you plan on drinking that.
I've been eating at this place for over 30yrs and over the years, it's changed and not for the good. The food has begun to taste microwavable. The chips, guacamole and some other food items are really good but other things are by your taste. What really blew my mind this past visit...was the price of one been and cheese chalupa. I was studded... lol
It's been over 10 yrs or so since my hubs and I have been here. Ordered #2 Regular Dinner plate, which includes 2 enchiladas, 1 mini puffy taco with rice and bean's, and I ordered the personal beef fajita skillet. We were totally disappointed with the taste and / or lack of taste. The sauce on enchiladas was warm at best, and my beef fajitas tasted charred and bland. We did enjoy their Mexican rice. The tortillas were good. A little undercooked for my personal opinion. We also ordered an appetizer, Queso Flameado. The presentation was nice, but it was all cheese and very little chorizo. It was so oily.. The cheese got hard within minutes. 😔 Don't think we will be returning for a meal, perhaps for a cocktail. They did have some very nice-looking drinks. If you are looking for a quiet dinner, this is not the place for you. It was super noisy. Our server was attentive and friendly.

Waitress was great but the food quality was so poor. I would rate 0 stars if possible. I got chicken fajita with shrimp. The food was terribly old and the chicken had a weird taste. I didn’t finish my plate.
The worker are mad disrespectful, don't even ask questions they expect u to know what they have and don’t. They gave us bunch of crumbs for the chip appetizer. Get better workers, they have nothing to eat. Bad restaurant don’t waste your money not worth it.
The waiter was very rude, didn't even introduce him self.. he's attitude was like he didn't want to be there he told my daughter in law to speak up. Rudely. He didn't understand what we wanted we explained to him our order he still got it wrong. When we told him the orders were wrong He was like how it's what you wanted. He made our dining very unenjoyable. We ordered chicken fried steak which was very dry . potatoes cardboard...got fries instead of mash I've been here many times before. And never have we had any problems.. I was so disappointed.. 😔☹️. Everyone looked so over worked... I don't know what happened.. maybe 🤔 he was having a bad day . ☹️😔I hope thing get better. I will give it one more try maybe...
I don’t know why my mother in law is obsessed with this place. I’ve eaten here a total of 3 times and everytime the food is just gross. Do NOT EVERRRR ORDER THE NACHOS I vomited so much. Why eat here when there are lots of other delicious mexican spots in San Antonio?
Tortillas were cold my meat was pink in the middle ,taste old looked old eww . Just so 2 on a scale from 1-10 . Waitress horrible ride no friendly face . I'll pass not again . Definitely not worth the prices .
Please do something about the panhandlers in your parking lot we were approached by one and he made me feel very uncomfortable. Aggressive, followed us to the car still asking for money, and stood there starring at us as we were getting in the car. As we were leaving he went to bother other people in the lot as they were going in. I've heard so many good things about this place we wanted to try it, they had a breakfast buffet going on this morning, but we ordered off the menu. Service was terrible, had to ASK for a menu, ASK for silverware, ASK for salsa, ASK for refills on coffee. It felt like the waitress had attitude because we didn't get the buffet and she actually had to do something besides stand around. The food was ok, and came out fast after we ordered. The music was way too loud, we couldn't carry on a conversation. Nice to have music. but not that loud.
After seeing the moldy kitchen in the reviews. It would have been my first time but now it won't be my first time. Customer service is also mentioned in the reviews. I'm big on customer service and I will call out poor customer service. However the kitchen is a big shutdown for this establishment otherwise corrected immediately. My aunt had food poisoning from this establishment. Not good. And I see why. Don't eat here once everyone learned that this establishment has made renovations and changes to employment policy and customer service. I will solely swear make contact to behind kitchen doors and have this establishment exposed.

What people say about Don Pedro Mexican Restaurant
Don Pedro: San Antonio's Consistent Mexican Gem
You know, there are some spots in San Antonio that just feel like home, and for me, Don Pedro Mexican Restaurant is absolutely one of them.
