My wife and I had an early dinner on Sunday afternoon. We had the happy hour hamburger in half order of fried catfish. I had a red beer. The fish was very good the hamburger was impressive and the beer was good. The fries and coleslaw were both fine. The prices were reasonable. We got out for about $40 after a tip. I can recommend this as a non-pretentious place to eat.
This was our first time visiting. The food was excellent. I had blackened shrimp-awesome. Other members at the table had rainbow trout-loved it; and fried catfish and shrimp-only good things to say. Crab cakes were good. Clam chowder was good. Desert was great as well. I dont know why it took so long to visit this restaurant but we will be back when in town. Highly highly recommend it.
Don’t want to be koi so I’m just gonna say it…. There’s plenty of fish in the sea but fish city grill is it! I had a fin-tastic experience at the bar and the fish and chips? I’m hooked! The atmosphere is so-fish-ticated and welcoming. Cod it be any nicer? Oh yeah and Ripley? He’s the catch of the day!
Went there tonight for dinner with the family. It was the best seafood we’ve had! Anna and Madeline took an amazing care of us! They were very sweet, attentive and knowledgeable about the food❤️Majority of their fish is wild caught and outsourced from Europe. They also had a gluten free menu which was super helpful. We got: Sea bass, caesar salad with salmon, fish tacos and fish and chips! Everything was 10 out of 10 Drinks were amazing too. We got margaritas, they were on happy hour too;)
Wow! The last time I had seafood this good was growing up in the 60s in Corpus Christi and eating at the classic Ship Ahoy on Water Street. Fresh Great gulf oysters half shell.. Wonderful cold JUMBO peel and eat shrimp, fried oysters with cornbread breading. This place is amazing. Our server , Angela, is wonderful. Worth a trip. Golden margaritas delicious with a real kick!
We’ve been going to fish city grill for a long time. Their food is always so good. I find their seafood to be very fresh. Love the Garlic salmon, jalapeño soup, fried green tomatoes and the yummy oyster nachos. We go there at least twice a week. The outdoor patio is my favorite ( when it’s not too hot or too cold) waitstaff is always friendly. I highly recommend Fish 🐟 city grill.
UPDATE (10 Aug 2025) Ate here for lunch with a group from church. In line with previous visits, we had great service and the food was really good. This time I tried one of the specials, the Jalapeno Bacon Cobia tacos with all sorts of goodness on them. The presentation was great, and the taste fantastic. Served with sweet potato fries with seasoning that was really excellent. I loved it. Keep on rockin', Fish City Grill. (PREVIOUS) We've eaten here quite a few times, usually on a Sunday after church, but sometimes dinner. This visit was on a Friday night. We got there before 5:30 to try and beat the crowd, but it was already hopping, with virtually every table full. Told the wait would be around 25 mins, we waited outside at one of the tables. Turned out to be only 13 mins, but during that time a young lady did come by and asked us if we'd like anything to drink while we waited. A nice touch. Generally, service has always been good here, and this time was no exception, even if our server was stretched a little thin based on how busy it was. We got a really excellent shrimp appetizer on Happy Hour special and ordered one of the offered specials that night, a coconut crusted flounder with a Thai chili sauce. That was really good. The rice was supposed to have a lemon basil sauce on it, which had sounded good. If it was on there, we couldn't taste it, so that was a bit disappointing. They may have missed it in the rush. Overall, another solid experience, and we'll be back at another time.
After a few visit this seafood restaurant is on the top of my list, I ordered the George Bank scallop and bacon wrap shrimp dish Delicious, lots of flavor, however the portion was a bit small, but I did not walk away disappointed, serves was very friendly second visit if you need more food go for the blackened Rainbow trout yummy, the old fashioned is pretty good too
This was our first time visiting this restaurant, and we certainly enjoyed it. We were greeted and seated immediately, and our waitress took our drink orders as she dropped off the menus. After she determined that this was our first visit, someone from the kitchen brought out samples of all their soups, as well as an oyster nacho for each of us to try. We had the Sampler appetizer, and our entrees were Fish Tacos and Scallops with Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp. Everything was well prepared, and we had an excellent experience. We plan to visit again when we are in the area. Great experience.
First timer at this Fish City Grill location and I was very impressed 👍👍 The service was superb as was the food. I especially appreciated the personal touch they brought samples of each soup, bisque and gumbo with an oyster nacho. They also gave us a coupon for our next visit! Highly recommend giving this place a try and I'll definitely be back.
Surprisingly great place, I was not expecting that at all. We were both hungry after a Sunday afternoon shopping. This place was the closest place so we dropped in. We sat at the bar and we were served by the wonderful lady behind the bar, (unfortunately I don’t recall her name). Great service great food, the lobster and shrimp grilled cheese was AWESOME! Management…….i was at your establishment on Sunday Dec 8th around 1:30PM. Give that bartender a gold star, she’s awesome!
First time here, And from the moment I stepped into the door to the time I was sat & upon Sarah coming to my table to greet me, I mentioned to her it was my first time & talk about knowledge on food and suggestions, she presented me with 4 samples of there in house made soups & nachos and a sample of the fresh oysters!! Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! I am definitely hooked!! I found my new Gem!! I had 2 amazing Old Fashions ( Thank you Bartender) perfectly executed perfect portions on ingredients I am very picky about my Old Fashions.. I ordered the Rainbow Trout… oh my!!! Buttery and fell right on to my fork delicately and into my mouth… lol spinach was very flavorful as well as the Rice!! Will I be back ??? Heck yeah!! Hats off to Everyone!! Thank you for making my first time visit memorable. :)
What a pleasant surprise. I’ve lived within a mile of this restaurant and have shopped at the H‑E‑B next door to this restaurant for the past 8 years. Honestly, I don’t know why I’ve never stopped in before. We’ve been missing out on some good stuff! We decided to have lunch here today and are so happy we made this decision. Jaime, our server, was fantastic. Her service was on point. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals (and the complementary soup and oyster nacho tasting we received as first time visitors.) We will be back! A bonus for me: the octopus is one of my two favorite animals, and I loved the octopus mural behind the bar, and the octopus drawings on the coasters and customer feedback card! :) I would seriously like to be put in touch with this artist and have her come do a mural at my house. Looking forward to dining here again in the near future.
My husband and I had a wonderful first visit at Fish City Grill off 1604 in San Antonio. We enjoyed the Hurricane Lovette cocktail and sweet tea. We were delighted when they brought us complimentary samples of their various soups to try, including clam chowder, gumbo, lobster bisque, jalapeno creamy soup, and a fried oyster. My husband particularly liked the clam chowder, while I found the jalapeno soup to be mild and very delicious. The jumbo lump crab cake was a hit for our appetizer. For mains, my husband loved the US farm-raised catfish, and I relished the flavorful Serafin’s Hand-Rolled Fish Tacos made with fried tilapia, tangy cabbage, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, and ranchero sauce. Although they resembled burritos more than tacos, they had a delightful kick to them and were incredibly tasty. Definitely recommend them. Their prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is very casual. As newbies, we were given a discount card for our next visit which was such a thoughtful gesture. Overall, Fish City Grill offers delicious food, friendly service, and a welcoming ambiance.
Oh my goodness not sure why this was our first time eating here. Appetizer included fried calamari, fried pickles and shrimp and crab queso. All good and queso was a very nice surprise. My hard to please husband had the seafood platter and loved it. I had a new dish shrimp and chicken pasta dish and also very good. We sampled the roasted jalapeno, crab bisque, clam chowder, and gumbo soups and all excellent although my favorite was the roasted jalapeno. We also got to sample their oyster nachos once again on point. Definitely going back!

First time trying this restaurant and I'm happy we did. We ordered the seafood platter and catfish and oysters. Everything tasted fresh and cooked perfectly. Our waiter Cedric was very helpful and made some good recommendations. I would have given 5 stars but the mashed potatoes were dry. The atmosphere was nice and simple. We will definitely try this place again
We’ve been here about 3 times and all experiences were good. You have got to try the oyster nachos!!! They’re really good. The first time we went I ordered the shrimp tacos, the menu didn’t say that they were breaded but they were and they were sooo spicy that my mouth was on fire. I wouldn’t order that again. I really liked the salmon on top of a salad. Then this last time I ordered a fish plate which was also delicious! I would give them 4.5 stars.

First time eating here. I'm a seafood lover for sure! Went there with a couple of buddies. Atmosphere was great! A couple of TVs to keep up with the Spurs. 😉 Staff was super friendly and helpful on what the daily specials were and giving us the run down for today. After pursuing the menu, I settled on "fish and chips". Everything looked good, but it had been a minute since I've had fish and chips and was looking forward to it. One friend ordered one special, blackened chicken over a Caesar salad. The other one ordered another special, spicy crawfish tacos. Their food looked amazing! Mine was underwhelming. It was good, but it wasn't what I was expecting. Very ordinary. 3 average sized fish tenders and some seasoned fries. Nothing special. My friends' meals looked and tasted so much better! So, I probably just ordered the wrong thing. I'll go back again for sure, and will definitely try something else.
Latest experience at this restaurant wasn't great but it's usually good. My wife had the grilled lobster and pesto pasta and it was not good. Lobster meat was way overcooked and the pasta was greasy and had little flavor. I had the Veracruz red snapper which was ok. The snapper was a little overcooked too and there wasn't much of the veggie sauce. For $34, I feel like that entree should come with at least one side (it was served over rice). No bread at the table either. This experience was fast casual at almost steakhouse prices.
Dined in February 2025 after more than a decade, and was sadly disappointed. I see so many good reviews here that I urge you to keep an open mind for this restaurant despite my review. Once upon a time, this was my go-to happy hour spot and the oyster nachos were amazing. This visit however, the spinach sauce tasted like bad wine. My 9 year old ordered this dish and the alcohol was not cooked out at all. The fish tacos were overly sweet and cold. The rice served with it was hard and beans had little-to-no flavor. The chicken and shrimp pasta came with a cream sauce, and we asked for a garlic-butter sauce instead due to allergies. The pasta was dry, there was no garlic in the dish, and the shrimp was overcooked. When mentioning this to the waiter, she apologized and left without offering a solution. I did very much enjoy my red beans and rice. Incredible flavor. I enjoyed my leftovers just as much today as I did in the restaurant. (Maybe even more since I wasn't surrounded by deeply disappointed faces.) Maybe they had an off day, but I will say that my family is unlikely to return after this visit.
