Great vibes good internal design playground even better food was amazing waitress was so nice and attentive covered parking available but the side parking has thorns coming through
This place is good for the older crowd vibe. Has a good drink selection and nice oak trees outside to eat in good weather. They have mister fans outside and heaters if its real cold. The food is a nice portion and had an alright flavor. I ordered the fish tacos. However, they had no sauce. The fish itself was good, but tue lack of sauce and just dried vegetables to put in the tacos was a letdown for me. I'll try something else next time.
I visited last Wednesday with two friends that I hadn’t seen in decades 😱. Our food was so delicious and well presented. I had chicken enchiladas and my friends both had beef taco plates. We started with mango margaritas and queso which went down a treat. We thoroughly enjoyed our reunion and the tasty food. The music was canceled due to rain but we will return.
Came here on a Sunday to sit outside to have a few drinks over lunch. It wasn't crowded at all, but was quoted a 30 min wait for an outside table. I assume it was due to more tables available than waitstaff. I put my name on the list, but a table was ready within 10 minutes. Server was very prompt and friendly. Took the drinks and appetizers orders while I looked over the rest of the menu. It wasn't hot, but all the trees provided plenty of shade. Started off with a few margaritas and the puffy tacos. Drinks came out within 5 minutes and the puffy tacos within 15 minutes. Margaritas were very refreshing while sitting on the outdoor patio. Puffy tacos were very good as they had a nice crispy, puffy shell filled with meat and veggies. For the meal, ordered the mixed fajitas for two and they came out within 15 minutes. The amount of beef and chicken was well-portioned with a generous amount of vegetables with sides of rice, beans, guacamole, and salsa. Many people were casually eating and drinking while enjoying the weather, but you never felt rushed. It was a nice way to spend a Sunday over food and drinks while enjoying the weather.
FOOD: *The menu is vas and eclectic. It ranges from interior Mexico to Tex-Mex cuisine. *Portions are ample. *Food is always fresh.. *Iced tea is always fresh. * Chips & salsa served complementary before meal arrives SERVICE: *Histes sat us within 3 minutes, as restarunt was brisk but not swamped *Waiter was knowledgeable about the menu *Waiter took our order promptly *Waiter kept or tea glasses full *Waiter removed dishes as we set them aside ATMOSPHERE: *The patio is gorgeous, shadded and lots foliage *Being fairly cool, we chose to sit indoors. The do have temporary gazebos and outdoor heaters set up for those wishing to sit on the patio in brisk nights *The inside like a huge Spanish casa with large stylish widows, nice seating (both tables and booths), and a small full bar with a big screen tv TIPS: *Ask for your crispy taco on a separate plate to avoid having it get soggy. *On Fridays and Saturdays there can be a little wait to be seated, but not usually too long There are numerous Mexican restarunts in San Antonio, and La Hacinda de Los Barrios always hits the spot. If you've never been, check it out. Mexica Food that never disappoints !9
Such a great space! Inviting and gorgeous, with lots of plants. Food was delicious. There’s a couple of cats on the premises which were friendly but conscientious! All wins!
I always enjoy eating at La Hacienda de Los Barrios. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting, and it’s one of those places that’s perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends. The food is consistently good—flavorful, comforting, and clearly made with care. Their Mexican dishes never disappoint, and everything comes out fresh and well-seasoned. The service has always been friendly and attentive without feeling rushed, which really adds to the overall experience. It’s one of those restaurants I keep coming back to because it just feels familiar and dependable. Great food, good service, and a cozy vibe—definitely a solid go-to spot in San Antonio.
The family and I enjoy a nice evening here every now and then. It is not my favorite Mexican food in the city but it is good. The atmosphere is what attracts us consistently along with good service. I do recommend this place if wanting to enjoy a nice evening on the massive deck or you have young ones who still enjoy a playground that is fenced in. It is always a good time coming to La Hacienda de Los Barrios.
We come here often because of the amazing patio. Great food, drinks, and unbeatable prices. After so many positive visits, we chose this spot for my son’s baptism lunch last month with a group of 20–25. We made reservations and the staff accommodated us wonderfully. The service was excellent. I wish I remembered the name of our waitress. She was incredibly patient, attentive, and prompt. We’ll definitely be back for my other son’s baptism dinner and will try to request her again.
The ambiance of this restaurant is exceptional. The colonial hacienda-inspired decor is meticulously executed, creating an inviting atmosphere. The establishment boasts numerous photo opportunities and an interesting collection of art. As an avid plant enthusiast, I was particularly impressed by the pervasive greenery, which provides a refreshing and invigorating ambiance. The cuisine was delectable and appetizing. We opted for to try out the puffy tacos, which were well-prepared although oily. I would highly recommend returning for a special occasion, ensuring that the establishment offers ample space and comfort. The service was commendable, although we experienced a slight delay in being approached by a staff member for seating. Nevertheless, our server was courteous and prompt in addressing our needs.
We moved from San Antonio 20 years ago and miss this place. It is a great option for families and the kids have a playground, the prices are inexpensive and the food quality is great. We called at the last minute after leaving Six Flags and they had our table for 22 set up by the time we arrived. Our server, Ivan, was great and patient with our crazy group who had six different checks! Always a great time here!
I had called this location for a reservation if 20 as it was recommended to us by a close friend! They offered reservations and the plus side was that I was able to order 3 parrilladas for the table and each person was able to have their own individual tab in case they wanted something else to eat or drink! Which made it perfect! The communication between myself and the restaurant was seamless! I even thought it was a little too good to be true! I called a couple of days prior to confirm just to be safe and they had all my information correct. The day of I also received a courtesy call as a reminder about my reservation. My party had arrived prior to my husband and they were seated with no issues. We were celebrating my husband’s 40th birthday this evening with about 23 people. The waiter was as amazing as we could have asked! He was attentive, brought drinks out fairly quickly and brought what we needed in a timely manner despite us being a large group! The food was great and plentiful for our group! They even brought us plenty of to go plates to take what wasn’t eaten. We were able to bring our own outside cake and cut it for our guests. There was a live performer who we truly enjoyed! The outdoor patio was PERFECT! It was shaded, had fans and even had beautiful lighting during the evening. There was even a man walking around making balloon animals for the kids! Everything was just as great as we could have asked for! Everyone in the party agreed that they loved the restaurant! The kids even had a playground! This venue offered everything we were looking for! I’m thankful for this location and its staff!
Perfect Family Spot with Excellent Patio for Dogs and Playground for Kids La Hacienda De Los Barrios in San Antonio is a true gem for families looking for a great dining experience. The highlight of this establishment is its spacious patio, perfectly accommodating not just humans, but also our furry friends with wagging tails. The delightful playground for kids ensures that little ones are kept entertained and happy throughout the visit. The service at La Hacienda De Los Barrios is commendable, with orders being served promptly and efficiently. The best part is that the wait time is never too long, allowing families to enjoy their meal without any unnecessary delays. We tried the creamy poblano enchiladas, which undoubtedly stole the show with their delicious flavor and perfect creamy texture. These enchiladas deserve the title of "best in show." On the other hand, the beef steak ranchero was a bit underwhelming considering the price, landing it in the "mid" category in our books. Don’t forget the Sopapillas for desert. They’re amazing. Despite this minor setback, the overall experience at La Hacienda De Los Barrios deserves a solid 5 stars. The exceptional service, charming ambiance, and the delightful patio and playground make it a go-to spot for families looking to enjoy a meal together. We highly recommend this restaurant for a memorable and enjoyable dining experience.
My wife and kids and I have been coming here for a while now. There's a nice little playground for the kids to run off and play and the outside seating has mist fans now that make Texas weather a little more tolerable. Most of my dining experiences here have been somewhat average but we went last night and I have to say it was the best I've had. Our waiter Cain was extremely attentive and always nearby all I had to do was look up and lands his way and he was right on top of things. The food came out quickly and was excellent preceded by delicious salsa with great house chips. They have a handmade corn tortilla here that is to die for I definitely recommend trying that. Overall this was an amazing experience mostly due to excellent service and great food! Highly recommended!

Service was nice. Food was really yummy and drinks 🤤 fabulous for cheap night.
The blood orange margarita is my new favorite drink. I can’t believe these aren’t served everywhere. You win, hands down, my vote for best margarita in San Antonio. Highly recommended!
Arrived on a rainy day so had to navigate through some fairly deep puddles on the side patio entrance to get inside. First time visiting and we didn't realize there was a primary entrance if you drive further up. Someone suggested this place some months back so decided to check it out. We arrived shortly after it opened so we were seated immediately and served tortilla chips with salsa. I ordered the enchiladas tex mex which were decent and my companion ordered the chicken flats. She said they were pretty good. I think my order also came with flour tortillas which looked delicious and traditionally made. Ample seating options and parking spots. A bit pricey if you ask me but overall a decent experience.
I visited this establishment because a friend was having his birthday party here. I have been here before, but it's been a while and in the afternoon, during the week, when it's a little more quieter and let's crowded. The food options were preset, so every guest was served beef enchiladas with rice and beans, and a choice of a crispy taco or not with tortillas and condiments. For me, the food was very salty, and I checked with some of the other attending guests and they felt the same about the saltiness. If you're a beer drinker, just know they only have bottled beer, and do have a pretty good selection. The staff service was OK, but at times it seems difficult to find the server. I will note the place was very busy and very loud. Additionally, they have an outside area, it is decked, and a bar area to support the outside seating. There is also a small playground for children to play. Just remember, there is NO staff responsible for watching YOUR children so be mindful and vigilant. Overall, we had a good time, it was just a little loud inside for my preferences. The group of 50+ that we had was placed in another section of the restaurant, not a separate room. So, I am unaware if there is a separate group room and how many people it may hold. As for parking, there is parking in front of the restaurant, and if you take the road along the side of the restaurant, there is parking behind it. I have never been to this restaurant when the parking spaces have been all exhausted. Enjoy yourselves should you decide to good.
The food was good. The beef & chicken fajitas are always on point, very good cuts of meats and cooked very well! Our queso was ok, but took forever for the flour tortillas to come out. Our regular margaritas felt more watered down today than usual, a bit disappointed on this. The outdoor atmosphere is fantastic- til they started turning on the super fans - blowing so hard directly at us we had to ask to move. Our waitress was very slow - I think she was new. I am typically easy going but was underwhelmed today from it all.
Food was average and much too expensive for average. Service and ambiance were not even average.

For starters our server Juan who’s been here 20 years is a real pro, this restaurant is fortunate to have him because he works so hard & served us so well. On the negative side the quality of food has gone downhill since we started coming here years ago. The crispy tacos served on pre folded cold corn tortillas with a filling not ground beef but a paste with the consistency of dog food. My wife knows her cabrito dish very well & the meat was definitely not cabrito. After complaining, supervisor brought her a small piece of real cabrito. Disappointing experience especially since this dish is pricey.
La Hacienda used to be good. We were very disappointed this time. We sat outside but there were tents up so it too away from the ambiance of enjoying the great weather. Our server was very nice and attentive. Now our food…. Very disappointing and our adult drinks didn’t even seem to have alcohol. Refried beans were very salty and the food just not good and lacking. The BEEF STEAK RANCHERO steak was tough and ENCHILADAS MEXICANAS hard had any sauce, so it was dry and lacked flavor. Very disappointing for more expensive dishes. Definitely not going back.
Food was good, service was slow, waiter told us they don’t serve chips unless customer request them, management won’t allow them to put them on the table otherwise. Waiter came by took the order never came back to refill drinks or check in the table until we were ready to pay. Restaurant was empty. Cabrito plate was delicious and chicken fajitas were superb.

To be honest I was very disappointed we used to go to the other location and never had an issue. Our server took a bit to get to us 😕. Our server brought out the wrong drinks to start with the chips were stale the red salsa had an after taste. We were there on Mother's day got there around 5pm not too much but looked busy. Kids were running around being very loud and I can see the other family sitting next to us were not enjoying their meal. It's true wrong time wrong place good luck to you.
We dined at La Hacienda last night, but unfortunately, it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I usually don’t like leaving reviews like this, but in this case, it wasn’t just one or two things—it was everything. I hope this feedback can help with making improvements. Please understand that this is just our personal experience. As always, I recommend you try it yourself and make your own decision. I started with a sweet tea, which had an unusual taste, so I asked nicely if I could switch to a Coke. We ordered the guacamole salad with chips, but the guacamole was plain mashed avocados with no seasoning or salt. Not what I would call guac or guacamole salad. I just added salt and pepper from the table and ate most of it. For our entrees, my husband ordered fajitas, and I tried the enchilada assortment with five different kinds to explore the menu. Unfortunately, none of the dishes stood out positively. Some of the tortillas tasted raw, and the enchiladas had a strange flavor reminiscent of perfumed candies from a grandmas purse (IYKYK). My husband also wasn’t impressed with his fajitas. Additionally, while placing our order I also ordered flautas to take home to my daughter, but when we got home, she found a hair, and immediately tossed them. The service also seemed a bit subdued, as our waiter didn’t seem particularly excited to be there.

Hadn’t been here in a few years so my family and I thought we’d try it out again. I feel for the price we paid and the quality we received it is important for me to leave a review. The food here is awful. I can’t believe that a Mexican chain resteraunt would be better than what’s served here. The rice tasted like day old rice, I substituted charro beans and they came cold, chips and taco shell terribly greasy and tasteless, the tortilla soup was immensely salty, tortillas tasted store bought and stale. I ordered 2 kids plates of bean tacos for two of our kiddos. I asked the waiter how many sides came with the kids plate and he said two beans and rice. I asked if the beans could be substituted for something else as the kids were already getting beans in their taco. He said yes and gave the option of fries I agreed. When the meal came only a side of fries were with the taco. I asked about the rice and he said the fries count as both sides and for rice we would need to order a side order. I ordered the side of rice and got charged for it even thought the waiter had told me otherwise. For sure the last time coming to this restaurant. If looking for Mexican food their are other much better options in San Antonio.
Update: Thank you management for your response. Actions are appreciated more than words. We returned to your location after your response…. Same issue occurred. So words without actions are useless. We have gone to this restaurant for years. Over the past few years, the food has really gone down hill. Today, we placed an order to go- 3 cheese enchilada plate (x2) and two chalupas. This is a picture of the enchiladas- it had LESS than a TEASPOON of cheese inside each enchiladas… paid $18 for this dinner. It was like eating a rolled up corn tortilla. Also, we only got 2 flour tortillas for two plate orders. Such a shame. Time for a management change!
