From start to end this was a very high end dinner. They were very attentive and provided a special birthday experience. We went all in with drinks at the bar, wine at the table, the tomahawk for two and bananas foster for dessert. The food was divine. We knew what to expect with the bill. So our meal was definitely a special occasion meal.

Overall, the place is great! My only complaint is that it can get very busy inside and you are packed in pretty close to other people. The tables are very close together not leaving much privacy between your party and the next. The food is amazing and the staff is top notch.

We had a wonderful time at J. prime last night for our anniversary. It was our first time visiting and we were so impressed. We called to inquire about getting a table at 9:30 at night after our previous dinner plans fell through due to a canceled reservation. J. Prime had our table ready at 9:45 when we walked in the door, complete with red roses and a handwritten Happy Anniversary card! Above & beyond, from the beginning. Our server, Laura T. was immediately so accommodating, friendly, and completely knowledgeable about the menu. She asked about our food allergies (we can’t have dairy) and made sure everything was tailored to meet our needs the whole night. The food was lovely and delicious - lobster tail bites, truffle fries, beet salad, Caesar salad, grilled broccolini & filet mignon. The flavors & sauces were great. For dessert we were brought a beautiful fresh sorbet with a sparkler to celebrate 💜 Laura made our night! Her attention to detail and quality of service was truly top notch, and my girlfriend is a chef so she has high expectations. We were so pleased & enjoyed our experience thoroughly. We will be back!

I definitely recommend eating here! We had phenomenal service (our server was Brandon). The food was delicious. The steak melts in your mouth. The presentation was very nice too. We were celebrating 2 birthdays, and they really wowed us with the dessert! We will be returning here soon.

We celebrated our engagement here with a lovely dinner. Service was top notch! Our servers were very attentive and caring. What an amazing experience! We went for the first time on 18 September for my husband's birthday and it was so great! They set up a fun setting on our table with a lit up balloon and a birthday card. Instead of just pointing to where the bathroom was, sometime walked me to it. They had the most delicious gluten free bread! Our food was so freaking good. The service was top notch! They even brought out the most delicious Creme Brule I've ever had! We paid a pretty penny, but so worth it! We can't go often but we will definitely go back!

A Perfect Date Night at J-Prime! We’re from Houston and visited San Antonio for the weekend. For our date night, we decided to try J-Prime Steakhouse — and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish! The food was to die for ! I had a steak, and my boyfriend got the steak with a lobster tail. We also shared the lobster mac & cheese, asparagus, and JP’s mashed potatoes — everything was flavorful, rich, and honestly a 10/10 really amazing . We even started with the skewers you cook yourself, which were so fun and delicious! The portions were perfect, the service was great, and the atmosphere made it even more special. I truly loved it — probably one of, if not the best, steakhouses we’ve ever been to. We’re already planning to come back next time we’re in San Antonio! Thank you so much for having us .

I attended a business dinner here and it was a remarkable experience. We ate "family style" and were able to taste of lot of the options this way. The food was perfection and the service was absolutely incredible. Our waters never fell below halfway, our cocktails were speedily replenished, and they did everything without us ever feeling interrupted. They even asked us if there were any food allergies to be aware of before we even began ordering. Absolutely recommend for a business dinner or a nice night out.

Every detail, down to the napkin was taken care of . Our waiter was very nice and had great communication when I asked for recommendations. Matias came by and made sure we were satisfied and made us feel very welcomed. The food was top tier. The steak, the bread, the fries and the amazing truffle Mac and cheese, bone marrow (my favorite) and ceaser salad was amazing! The experience was awesome . Celebrated my granddaughter's birthday! Food was scrumptious! Tableside desserts with lots of flames. Service a bit slow at end of the evening. But overall very attentive. 1

We wanted to go for a more upscale dining experience for our 3 year anniversary so we did the research & decided J Prime Steakhouse would be our best option. & it really was! The service was phenomenal. They made sure we were taken care of at every step of the process. We received some complimentary items that tasted delicious as well. So many different levels of flavors that come together to create these beautiful dishes; We will definitely be coming back! The only complaint we could think about was the music being too loud for us to hear eachother. Everything else… phenomenal!

My fiancé and I went out for an anniversary dinner, trying this restaurant for the first time based on a friend’s recommendation. Since our reservation was on a weekday, we were seated promptly upon arrival. The table was beautifully set with a rose and a card wishing us a happy anniversary , which was an appreciated touch. Our server was friendly and quickly took our drink orders. I had a cucumber martini, which was refreshing. We were first served an amuse-bouche of caviar and crème fraîche on a pancake. For appetizers, we chose the wedge and ceasar salads along with the crab cake. A lemon sorbet palate cleanser followed, which was so refreshing I would’ve gladly had a full serving. For our main course, we shared the porterhouse steak for two, accompanied by scalloped potatoes and crab fried rice. While the steak was well-seasoned, it came out more medium-rare than the medium we requested, so it had to be sent back. The crab fried rice had good flavor but was slightly undercooked, with some hard grains of rice. To finish, we were treated to a crème brûlée as an anniversary dessert. Overall, the service was excellent, which is what you'd expect from a fine dining experience. The atmosphere was elegant and the décor appealing. My only suggestion would be to improve the layout; the view of people entering, exiting, and waiting in the lobby from the dining room took away a bit from the romantic ambiance.

I took the hubby here for his birthday tonight. When I say they roll out the red carpet, they roll out the red carpet! And I'm talking about every employee in the building. Customer service is impeccable! My husband was presented with an LED balloon at our table. Every wait staff that came to the table wished him a happy birthday! The service hands down was some of the best service we received. Our server Keith, was beyond AMAZING! We ordered the porterhouse steak for two, Cesar salad, mashed baked potato, and lobster Mac n cheese. We also ordered the fried oysters. After the first bite Cesar salad and an oyster, I knew I could mark this as a favorite restaurant. I'm definitely going back, The salad and fried oysters have me sold! Ordered Island Boys for our drinks. It was delicious! I loved the homemade bread. I can eat a basket full! J-Prime is more than just dining, it was an experience! You won't be disappointed! There's a lot I didn't share because you've got to experience it for yourself!

J prime is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Texas. The atmosphere is welcoming, classy, and beautiful. We drive all the way from Houston just to eat here and the staff is like family at this point. We have eaten here dozens of times and I can assure you that absolutely EVERYTHING on the menu, from cocktails to appetizers to desserts, is delicious.

One of my fave prime steak places in San Antonio. Filet minon all delicious and perfectly cooked/salted. The sides were perfect; lobster mac & cheese was so flavorful and creamy; mash potatoes & Brussels sprouts were delicious. The girls loved the 4oz filet minons & fries. The cheese bread puffs were perfect and the kids loved them. Bottle of Duckhorn merlot was perfect to the meal. Top it off, my daughter was very shy about asking but the waitress asked her and daughter fought her fears and asked for a lighted balloon, which she was so happy to get. Perfect end to night.

Exceptional. I really tried to eat the whole Ribeye. The Service at J Prime is better than the steak and the steak is second to none. The sides are flavorful and complement the whole meal. Sauces, freshness, all first rate.

Nice place to stop and eat on your way home coming leaving Stone oak area. The food was good with great service, drinks very pricey, a small spicy margarita for 26 bucks and it wasn't even spicy no added jalapeño or anything but other then that it was acceptional and I would return .

This was our second visit and it did not disappoint. I ordered the sea bass and my husband ordered the American wagyu NY strip. We also shared au gratin potatoes. For cocktails, we tried the expresso old-fashioned and one called Divorce Papers (which came with a miniature lil envelope with a letter inside that read served - nice touch!). Both were really good but my favorite was the espresso old-fashioned! We also got the caprese salad. For dessert, we shared the Bananas Foster which was prepared by Dario. It was fun to watch. He talked to us through his presentation and the Bananas Foster was delicious! Serving staff were Alexis and Adam. They were amazing! They were both welcoming, attentive, and efficient. This is an upscale steakhouse so many patrons were dressed to the nines. They encourage business casual at least and no caps. This is a great spot to get dressed up for a special night. They also have valet service. It is all good here!

The absolute best place of all time. Our server, Tyler was absolutely amazing alongside all the other staff was helping my wife and I for our anniversary. We ordered the land and Sea dinner for two and by golly. It was the greatest thing of all time. It wasn’t just a dinner. It was an experience my wife and I had, her and I still talk about it and brag to friends. Definitely recommend.

My first time at an expense restaurant was a great experience, mostly thanks to our waitress, Natalia. She was super nice and explained everything on the menu, making us feel really comfortable. Her friendly attitude and helpfulness made the fancy meal even more enjoyable. It was a wonderful evening, and Natalia was a big part of that!

At first, we were unsure why there was such a large staff presence, but once the restaurant filled up, it became crystal clear: J-Prime delivers a level of service that rivals top-tier resorts. We’ve dined at luxury properties and world-class establishments, and this was different—in the best way possible. Our servers, John and Brandon, along with Matias, provided flawless service. Not a single drink ever dipped below half full. The entire staff worked together seamlessly, with perfect timing, warmth, and professionalism. It's really a 4.7, but hey. Also, I went on a Monday... So all the new staff were getting their chops up. I'm a lot harder on places like this. Why? Because my meal was $460, pre-tip. And they asked if it was perfect. And it wasn't. Well... The steak, 8 oz filet actually was perfect. Shrimp just very good. Wife had lobster which was, again, just very good. Both should have been a little firmer. Taste was on point. Her steak was a bit salty. So, again just very good. Fries were perfect. Chocolate cake for dessert was amazing. Presentation was top notch, taste was very fine. My martini was weak. Watered down. Wine selection there is a little mid for a place this nice. Although the tempranillo I had paired perfectly with my steak. Oysters were fine, but I had shell in two of mine. Normally wouldn't complain, but $460 for a meal, no shells is a requirement. Service was excellent except for the hostess. Attitude. This is not a place for attitude, perhaps somewhere else would be a better fit for you. The rest of team, awesome job. Little cart with high end spirits being driven around got me. Had to have some. Cute and fun. All in all, a great, but not perfect, meal and experience. Highly recommend. Prices aren't too bad, the vibe is right, fun touches all around for a lovely night out. Will be back. I've heard some folks say this is the best steakhouse in San Antonio. Not gonna disagree, it's the best I've had here so far.

Love J Prime happy hour! The drink and food specials are second to none. The sliders, tacos, and filet mignon are our favorites on the social hour menu. We also love the wedge salad with extra bacon, trust me, the bacon is some of the best we’ve ever had! We also love the bananas foster for dessert! If you like cheesecake, try the off menu brûlée cheesecake! The wait staff is so friendly and professional. We go here at least once a month! Love it and highly recommend you to try it

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and it was amazing. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. When we arrived at our table there was a happy anniversary note and rose at our table which was so sweet. We had several different dishes that included several drinks, sashimi, salad, lobster bisque, wagyu steak, sides, dessert and it was all delicious! The whole restaurant was beautiful and gave our dinner a nice romantic atmosphere. We would love to come back in the future again!

We had the best experience as a family and a large party here. From the service to the food. We left beyond fulfilled and happy with J Prime. We ordered everything from wine service, appetizers, NY strips, and a Tomahawk. Because we had a reservation and had to wait a little bit which we didn’t mind they still went above and beyond to give us complimentary shots. Because the birthday boy was gluten free not only did they offer a gluten free dessert for him but a slice as cake for the table as well, so those who could have gluten could enjoy. We will definitely be back just based off of the thoughtfulness and consideration this restaurant has to offer and of course the food.

True definition of fine dining. Made a reservation for my lady and I celebrating an accomplishment. They accomodated our requests and congratulated her with a handwritten note and a complimentary dessert which was not expected but highly appreciated. The level of service is outstanding. Gary was our server. He was knowledgeable, friendly and couldn't have been more attentive to our needs. I observed the whole team from servers, bartenders, runners, and management present during service, each playing a pivotal role in making each guest feel special. J-Prime Steakhouse made our Valentine’s Day absolutely perfect! The atmosphere was romantic and elegant with amazing service from start to finish. From the special menu, we had the Prime Beef Carpaccio, Lobster Bisque, Ribeye, and a Caesar salad, along with sides of broccolini/asparagus. Everything was beautifully presented and cooked perfectly — especially the steak and bisque! We were so full by the end that we had to take the carrot cake and chocolate mousse cake to go, which just shows how generous the portions were. It truly felt like a luxury fine dining experience and was worth it for a special occasion. My fiancé and I had such a memorable night and will definitely be back for future celebrations. Our greeter was friendly! Our escort was also friendly and courteous! Our waiter Patrick was AAAMAAAZING! Shout out to the Chef(s) for our food! It was so delicious. I requested rose petals on our table and that is what we arrived to. It was a rooomantic setting. We sat next to some awesome guests so that helped our experience. We have a half charcuterie board. It was beautifully presented..I especially loved and appreciated the rawness of the honey ❤️. My Husband had a half dozen of raw oysters, let me tell you, he said they were the best he has ever had. So if you are into that, I highly recommend it . We had some cheezy bread *chefs kiss*…dare I say better than Fogo 👀. We had a delicious Caesar salad..and had a palate cleanser before our big meal. My darling Hubby ordered a tomahawk steak and I had a ny strip with a shared side of macaroni and cheese with truffle..it was a crime for it to be that good! It was our first time here and we enjoyed our experience. Thank you all for everything you have done to make our night so special! Core memory created ❤️

From the moment you step through the doors, J-Prime sets a tone of contemporary elegance. The space is dark, intimate, and perfect for special occasions, featuring an upscale vibe that feels both sexy and luxurious. The showstopper is the 44-ounce Tomahawk rib-eye. Other items I recommend include the Lobster Bisque, the decadent Truffle Mac and Cheese. I wish I could bring down more stars from the sky to thank you for the tremendous service we received on November 16th. 2025 for our daughter's birthday. Chef Beto came to our table to make sure we were satisfied with our order and that it was to our liking. The servers also gave us excellent service; they made my daughter feel like a princess. She was so excited about how exquisite the food was. The salmon was super delicious, the lobster soup, the crab cakes—everything was excellent, and her lit balloon on the side was a lovely touch, not to mention her delicious cake. I loved the food. The service was top notch! I got the lambchop lollipops and they were heaven. The American wagyu steak was cooked perfectly and the flavor was out of this world. Then we got the bananas foster and it was rich and creamy with the ice cream. I loved it 💕 One of us got the chocolate cake it was massive, definitely a dessert to share.

Clarisa was our waitress and she was nothing short of amazing. Very attentive, paid attention to us without us having to look for her, great personality, and overall, she had a positive attitude. Saved the night! Five stars for the J-Prime team. After being turned away at Eddie V’s for being just 10 minutes late, our night was looking bleak—until we walked into J-Prime. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. Daniel, the GM, even stopped by our table to check on us and made sure we had everything we needed. That personal touch made a big difference. Definitely coming back again.

This place has officially become one of my favorite restaurants in town. The food never disappoints — consistently great steaks and awesome service every time. It feels upscale but still relaxed and comfortable. Shout-out to Daniel, the GM, for always being so kind and present. It’s nice to see management so involved and caring about the customer experience. If you’re craving a really good steak, this is the spot.

This is an update to my prior review. My wife & I had dinner here on February 15, to avoid the Valentine's Day crush. The restaraunt was still pretty full that Sunday night. My wife ordered the same dish she had before, the salmon. For sides we had the mushrooms and the sweet potatoes. I also had the same dish as on our prior visit, the USDA Prime Ribeye, which I ordered medium rare. This time the first steak I received was for the correct temperature, medium rare, and had some juices. A 100% improvement from our prior visit. We shared the carrot cake for dessert. It was a great fine dining Valentine's Weekend experience!

Great experience! From being seated to dessert, the food and the service were fantastic! The ambiance, the quality of the service; and the attention to detail were great. Arriving and “waiting area” leave a little bit to be desired. My guess it was a little more busier than usual due to Valentines Day, but the entrance was very crowded upon arrival. Small detail which did not take from the overall experience. Great job to Marcus, and the crew in the upstairs area.

J Prime came highly recommended by man as it's his favorite steakhouse. This was my first visit, and while the appetizers and drinks were the highlight of the evening, the overall experience had some disappointments. Service- Service was slow to start, as it took a while for our server to attend to us after we were seated. Drinks - Started off with a Tequila Old Fashioned. It was unique and delicious. Ordered the Love Letter cocktail and it was sweet, refreshing, and easily my favorite drink of the night. Appetizers - The lobster bites were absolutely incredible—so addictive I could have ordered another round—and the crab cake was equally delicious. For the main course, I had the ribeye (medium), but unfortunately it fell short. The steak was overcooked, unevenly done, and lacked the melt-in-your-mouth quality I expected for $82. I did order my steak Oscar style which helped me eat it. My steak was also thinner than my boyfriend’s steak, which added to my disappointment. On the bright side, the Rockin Oyster Rockefeller was delicious and beautifully prepared. Au Gratin potatoes were okay. The crab fried rice was delicious. Additionally, we noticed the kitchen prepares a complimentary bite for guests, but our table was skipped, which was disappointing. Dessert - We ended the meal with a fantastic crème brûlée, which redeemed the night. While the appetizers, drinks, and dessert were outstanding, the lackluster steak and inconsistent service didn’t quite match the high-end experience I expected.

My friends and I loved coming after work for their happy/social hour at the bar. The best apps were the sliders and the filet mignon, they filled us up better than the other apps. (We also cant help but notice and people watch: maybe if lily the waitress wasn’t so concerned with hitting her vape in the bathroom maybe some people could’ve gotten their drinks faster) Otherwise, a really swanky place to go after work for casual outings with coworkers & friends. The dining room is upscale with fine dining servers and the bar has an elegant feel without being pretentious.

It might just be all about perspective. Food was spectacular. Wait staff was incredibly professional and courteous. They seemed heavily understaffed, which isn't their fault. Meh, if I'm at a group dinner for 6-8, running north of $800, I'd prefer to not wait over an hour for my meal or another 45 minutes afterwards to handle the check and so on. At the same time, I'm not usually one to venture into finer dining establishments, so that may be a norm that I'm unaware of. Once again, our wait staff, when able to get to us, was amazing. Food was spectacular, but not for that price.

My experience was subpar overall. Our waitress, Morgan, was very inattentive and disengaged throughout the evening. She spent most of her time talking with coworkers rather than checking on our table, which led to long gaps between service. This was especially disappointing because we were celebrating a birthday, and the lack of attentiveness made what should have been a special dinner feel unnecessarily drawn out and frustrating. We had to wait for basic things that should have been handled proactively. Attentive service makes a big difference in the dining experience, and unfortunately, that was missing this night. The lobster bites could be better but the filet is perfect, so is the jp potato and the broccolini and if you have room for the crab fried rice please add it. You will not be disappointed.

I had high expectations for J Prime Steakhouse. The wedge salad was outstanding. The candied bacon was next level and really set the tone for what I expected to be a world class dining experience. The steak itself was good and cooked properly. No issues there. Where the meal really fell short was the sides. For a restaurant positioned at this level, I expected something elevated or memorable. Instead, they were underwhelming and honestly disappointing. Nothing about them stood out. The service, however, was phenomenal. Easily some of the best hospitality I have experienced in San Antonio. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and polished throughout the evening. The atmosphere was upscale and energetic. It was busier than I expected, but it never felt crowded. Overall, incredible service and a strong start, but the sides kept the meal from feeling like a truly top tier steakhouse experience.

Super disappointed in experience on our return trip after having positive experiences a few years ago. Summary: service and wait times ridiculous, overcooked steak, extreme disappointment in experience for the price. We made a reservation, no wait for the table (great) but it was 45 minutes until we had any food on the table (and only received our cocktails shortly before that). There's no bread service (to be fair there was a bite size starter provided but it was a one-note disappointment as well), which is fine if they bring the starters out in a timely manner, but a 45 minute wait for first plates is crazy to me at this price point. The wait continued pretty aggressively and steak came out overcooked (we ordered medium rare and it was easily medium well) but by that time I was so frustrated with the wait we kept it quiet to just try and get out at a reasonable time. Even the guy boxing it up asked "are you sure everything was okay" when I was in the restroom. We only get so many date nights (we have young kids) and to go to what's supposed to be a premium STEAK place and have wait times like that + a steak so overcooked just feels wrong. The positives - bone marrow appetizer was delicious, cocktails (when they arrived) were good, and people were friendly. Could've been more negative on atmosphere (it's loud and more clubby than other steakhouses but if you like that then you'll be fine), but I'm trying to be fair. Unfortunately too many other choices much closer to us to ever consider going back, and recommend trying other places before giving JPrime a shot...

I was really disappointed with my experience. I ordered one meal, one glass of wine, and the tip was added automatically, totaling $200. The service was terrible, despite asking the waiter 4 times for the complimentary bread, he never brought it. When I asked for the bill, he told me he couldn’t give it to me because he was waiting to serve a birthday dessert. After waiting 30 minutes, I had to get up and ask the hostess for the bill myself. When the waiter finally handed it to me, he just shrugged and gave a half-hearted ‘sorry’ without any real apology. To make matters worse, a 20% tip was automatically added. so I never had the chance to decide.

For the price, the experience wasn’t worth it. The seating is extremely tight, so close you can hear the guy next to you breathing, which makes it awkward to have a conversation with your partner or friends. It didn’t feel like the high end dining experience the restaurant claims to offer. We also found a hair in our mashed potatoes, which is unacceptable at this price point.

This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had. After waiting 30 minutes with no food, I had to remind the bartender to ring in my order because it had been forgotten. I then waited another 20 minutes for the food to come out. When it finally arrived, the plate struck the bar, shattered, and sent broken pieces and food all over me. The food soaked into my clothing and shoes, leaving me embarrassed and uncomfortable in the middle of the restaurant. The manager took a long time to even come over. When he did, the only thing initially removed from the bill was the food itself. My 2 drinks were not offered to be comped at first. He handed me his business card for potential dry cleaning but did not offer to replace the meal or make any meaningful effort to recover the situation. Accidents can happen, but a shattered plate onto a guest, combined with forgotten orders and long delays, should warrant urgency and genuine care. Instead, this felt like the bare minimum response to what was both a serious service failure and a safety issue.
