Have been coming here for years! Finally took my boyfriend and he loved it! Longhorn Cafe never disappoints! Very big, juicy and delicious burgers!

Called in my order for take out. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The burger was cooked perfectly, juicy and flavorful. Veggies on the burger were super fresh. Fries were golden and crispy with just the right amount of salt. Would have pictures but I was too hungry to take any lol. I will just have to go back again. Highly recommend.

Longhorn Cafe is my go to spot for a guaranteed good meal. I usually get a taco salad but this time I splurged and went with the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Bacon. I subbed for the sweet potato fries with a side of Jalapeños/Avocado. The grilled chicken was cooked to perfection juicy and seasoned well and the bacon just added that extra taste only bacon can give. The food is always 5 stars here at longhorn I have had the burgers and they are tasty and juicy best you can get around here. Sweet potato Fries where very fresh hot and Crispy stop in at Longhorn cafe on Blanco the Staff is very friendly and the Cook is on point with his creations.

Hole in the wall diner feel type of place. Great place to eat some hearty food and drink beer with freinds or family. The big juicy burger was quite delicious. Would return!

First time here. I read the reviews and decided to try it out. It's a lot of food. My kids loved it..must try it out if you're in San Antonio. *I had the chicken fried chicken. My kids had cheese burger, a chili burger and Buffalo chicken strips. Everything was very good.

Longhorn Café has quickly become one of my top 3 burger spots in the city. My go-to would be a double meat with cheese and fries. I believe their fries are made in house and are always fresh when I order. The burger is great and the buns are awesome as well. I personally like to rotate between the sourdough bun and their classic. I would suggest ordering the sourdough if you plan on ordering a double meat, as the bread to meat ratio will be more even, since the sourdough bun is a bit more dense. Take note that the patties are cooked medium well, so prepare to specify if you are not a fan. Personally, it doesn't bother me. There are plenty of other old-school items on the menu that I have yet to try in the future. But nothing ever beats a simple, non complicated burger and here they do it exceptionally. 4.6/5

Hands down best burger in any state. The bun, the meat, seasoning and toppings, perfect! I have been going to this place since high school (gulp, 31 years ago. Go Chargers)! and it hasn’t changed a bit since then. (Thankfully). I now live in St. Louis and you better believe that we always stop in for a Big Juicy when we are back in town visiting family. Please don’t ever change. I mean, look at this picture…prove me wrong there’s better burger. Before you say Whataburger…they are a close 2nd.

That was a good juicy burger! I got the angus burger with guacamole and sweet potato fries, hubby got bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. We had our dogs with us so we got it to go. There is outdoor seating but didn’t want to bring them through the inside to get there. Hubby went in to order and says there inside reminded him of a small town cafe and staff was friendly. I stayed in the car and watched mild chaos in the parking lot, parking is tight. Glad we came here though because that burger really hit the spot just like we were craving!

Food was great, cashier was very nice and helpful. Think our ticket got misplaced for a bit in the kitchen, had 4 tables after us get food first and took 26 minutes which seened long, but ours was hot and fresh.

Tonight I went with my church group and we had a great time. The staff was so considerate and helpful, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect for a Friday night.

Classic American Comfort Food Emporium! Cool little burger joint that is one of those gems that seem to be disappearing from the American landscape. We had burgers, dogs, fried okra, macaroni and cheese, and fried pickles. I am not big on fried food, but the breading was perfect and crisp. Everything was delicious and then I saw a couple who had chicken fried steak. I am coming back just to have that; it looks incredible! Who am I kidding? There were about a dozen other things I’m looking forward to trying as well.

We tried the impossible burger, chicken tender basket, chili cheese fries and a brownie. Everything was really good and the tenders were fresh. The breading on the tenders did come off easily though. I definitely recommend dining here and would visit again while in San Antonio.

I have to say that I enjoy the Texas like atmosphere here at this location. The staff is friendly, courteous, and attentive. Best of all is the Chicken Fried Steak which just might be the best in San Antonio. Definitely my new go to. As far as the burgers, I have to give them another chance, so no comment on that. My kids love the burgers here! Very kid friendly. I really appreciate that they offer gluen-free buns. The only reason we don't go to longhorn more often is that it's pretty grubby inside. If you look at the light switches or any other high contact area, it will make your stomach churn. It's brown with finger smears.

Chicken fried steak was so tender I only needed a fork. Fried okra was very good too. The party room was secluded so we had no issues with noise and could conduct our business.

The place is a total dive, but they sure do know how to make a dang good burger 🍔. We live in Dallas now, but look forward to popping in every-time we’re in town.

January 2026 Revisited, Longhorn Cafe today. I ordered the kid juicy meal, because I wasn't that hungry. The service was great, the place looked great. I saw a sign celebrating their Looks 40th year in business, which is fantastic. I just know that they've been doing a good job for the neighborhood, and the surrounding area for a long, long time. I hope you decide to visit them and your experience is good or better than mine. Added some pictures and a video. July 2024 Met a friend for lunch at Longhorn cafe at the Blanco Rd location. I've added some pictures for the outside and inside of the restaurant. Luckily, the line was not too long, and we were greeted, our order taken, and the food prepped. We were not in a hurry, but I would say the food prep took 15 - 20 minutes. Longhorn allows for free drink refills and has condiments either on the table or the counter beside the fountain drinks. Today was nice, and you could sit inside or outside. We had hamburgers with fries and/or tater tots. The food was good and the tots yummy. I hope that if you visit, your experience is as good as mine.

This burger joint on Blanco is my favorite "local" go-to lunch place. Maybe cuz of my age, I just feel comfortable walking into this unpretentious open-grill burger factory. The counters are old. The floor is old. The booths and bench-style sit downs are old. But it's nostalgically beautiful. The burgers are great tasting. The buns are fresh. The condiments are fresh. And my favorite side, Tots, are perfectly crispy every single time. There are several Longhorn Cafe burger places throughout San Antonio and even one up in Boerne. The Blanco store, though, beats them hands down for what I just cited. Go and enjoy.

They weren’t wrong. The burger itself was just a little more juicy and flavorful. And the tots and the homemade ranch were on point as always. Perhaps the most distinguishing quality of this location is the service. Every crew encounter is joyful and helpful. The drink area is never without any beverage or supply. The tables are promptly cleared after each customer leaves. The restaurant is very clean. You won’t be disappointed with your visit here. And I may just have to make this my exclusive location of choice!

Longhorn Café has always been one of my favorite spots. Their hamburgers, made from scratch, are simply the best. And let’s talk about the milkshakes – they’re hand-spun, not machine-made, using Blue Bell ice cream for that perfect creamy taste. The service is consistently great, adding to the charm. This iconic spot on Blanco has been around forever – I remember visiting as far back as the early 80s. Despite the years, it still has that welcoming, country feel. If you’re looking for a great burger in a laid-back atmosphere (nothing fancy), this is the place to be. Can’t recommend it enough!

10/10 burgers and excellent onion rings. No complaints in any way regarding the food. I recommend the big & juicy, especially if it’s your first time, but you can’t go wrong. Reasonable prices, good food, cold beer. The atmosphere, parking, and service are nothing to write home about, however, I refused to lower the rating because the food is worth it and it’s just not that type of restaurant. I come here every chance I get when in San Antonio.

Longhorn Cafe is a place that holds many fond memories for my family. It is a great establishment to take the kids and have a great tasting dinner while the kids have room to run around or play games. The venue has a wonderful aesthetic from its heavily wood focused construction. I would recommend giving it a try if you've never been, the food and atmosphere are quite pleasant.

We’ve been coming here for years and food is always great. This time, the patties were not seasoned enough and the cheese was not melted at all. It was just on top, cold.

The food was great even the the fish and I don't like fish, so i was surprised the only thing was ordering. I asked for the big juicy, but you have to say double juicy if you want the double burger, and you have to say meal if you want fries, so be very specific when ordering. Otherwise, you'll just Get the burger by itself. Other than that, I loved the food it was great.

Friends in town over Memorial Day weekend and had a craving for a good burger. "Longhorn Cafe?" Not a second thought. We all got out of the pool, straightened up a bit and were on our way to a pleasant evening of patio grubbing. The burger was just as good as I remember it! The side of chilli cheese tots added a nice touch. Out of town friends said it definitely satisfied their craving. Hope to come back here sooner rather than later!

Folks who ordered immediately in front of me in line finished their meal before I received mine. Inquired about my food at the 40 min mark… Haley promptly informed me that I was up next. She brought my burger out as soon as it hit the tray and offered to bring the onion rings to me shortly as they were still in the works. The wait seemed excessive even for a busy Saturday, but the food was fresh and tasty. However, the above and beyond service from Haley is commendable and I hope she will be recognized for her efforts.

I have had the pleasure of eating here a few times now, & still day dream about making it out to a meal here. The food is marvelous; service was good but I did not favor the set up for ordering (not conventional here). The atmosphere was nice and pleasant even though it was surprisingly quiet for how busy it seemed.

Just like the other long horn cafe locations, the food is good and very filling. I don’t go here too often since there is another location close by but I was in the area and decided to get lunch here. The service is also fast and the staff was friendly. Only reason I rate it 4 stars is because the place is a bit old and parking could be better, but I do like the old decor and how you can see the staff cook! Would come again!

Nice old school burger place. Burger and the cheese had good flavor, also the bun was fresh and slightly toasted which was nice. Great soda and beer selections. This place has a lot of different choices besides just burgers.. Chicken fried steak being one of them and I will need to try that next time. One downside on my meal is that the tots were over cooked.

I've been eating at the Longhorn Cafe for 13 plus years and I've never had a bad experience. I'm not sure if they're all owned by the same person, but we've frequented Leon Springs, Boerne and Blanco Road, but they're all good and the service is friendly and attentive. The grilled chicken sandwich and club are my favorites, but never tasted anything I didn't like. Get cha some!

Good independent hamburger restaurant. I had picked up lunch with some friends and I had The fish basket with tater tots very good. I had a hard time eating the whole thing. This place is busy. I was there at 2 and there was a line out the door. If you're in the area, I suggest you try the hamburgers onion rings. I heard a very good also. This is a good place to bring the family they have outdoor seating available also.

If you live or work nearby this is a casual spot to grab a great meal at a reasonable price. I typically order the guacamole burger with tots or rings (you can't wrong with either of those). They toast the buns and give you a generous amount of guacamole with this burger. They have outdoor seating available and a party room. This family-friendly spot also has arcade games.

We’ve been wanting to check the place out but had no time to until today. Walked in today to a pleasant lively atmosphere. The cashier was very friendly and she explained everything perfectly. We all enjoyed our food so much we didn’t have time to take pictures. Food tastes very genuine and fresh it wasn’t the best burger I’ve had but it’s definitely up there. Would definitely come again!!!! Only negatives were the funky parking and the sticky floors.

The Simple Travels

So we’ve been here before and enjoyed it then too. The only reason we are rating this visit lower is because of the fowl odor from the restroom area and the fact that there is seating near it. This along with a number of flies about the restaurant was a bit disappointing. That said, the food was still great and didn’t slow anyone down from enjoying their meals. We’ll be back largely because what makes a dive great, is the way it’s always kept to its original roots. Would still like to see some effort on addressing the restroom facilities though.

We waited at the front of the line ready to order for over 10 minutes and the one guy that was having to manage taking orders from those in the restaurant while simultaneously taking orders from call-ins was beyond stressed and frazzled. The phone was ringing non-stop so he was having to taking call-in orders before getting to those in the restaurant. The food was definitely worth the wait and the quality and quantity was amazing. You won’t walk out hungry.

This place is kind of a paradox it's both good and bad Their burgers are tasty. Overall I think the place is better than most . definitely better than that big place down the street I would choose this over that. The burger patty seems to be of good quality I don't run into pieces of gristle or bone too often . However I have a sneaking suspicion that they use MSG in their burgers or some kind of curing salt / meat tenderizer that may contain it . As with other places that do this seems to be leaving my palate dry for a long period of time after eating. As well as one thing I can't understand as much money as these these places generate just from selling beverages. I can't understand what their excuse would be for having such a disgusting moldy smelling ice machine and beverage area pitiful I think there's no excuse for that. As well as I think it reflects badly on the health department I don't see how he / she misses that. So you might say there's a lack of professionalism here and most of the employees seem to have their head in the clouds thinking about what they're going to do when they get off. I ended up with a soda when I ordered water and jalapenos on my burger when I ordered Jalapeno Jack. On my last visit. This place does have a lot of potential if they did a little bit of rehab in the place and management kept a better eye on the really don't care kids they hire . which would be hard to do with as many as they have there.

The place was disgustingly dirty every where you look. Food in the soda fountain. No clean tables. Everything I tried to order they were out of stock. First time here, for sure won't be back.

$12 for a double meat and cheese burger, limp fries and a coke. 😩The food use to be great in the 90s but now, extremely expense and tasteless. Also the employees seemed miserable. Tip for Longhorn Cafe: Respect your customers and buy better ingredients.

Went in tonight for a mushroom swiss burger. Everything seemed great inside. Ordered my burger and I received two buns and a patty. Nothing else on it. I feel pretty chested. Especially since I paid extra for bacon. Thanks for a good first time. The locals really had my hopes up.

Milkshakes - take them off the menu because last three times I tried to get some for my kids, I was informed it would take too long. Other food not avail - “sorry out of chicken tenders”. Dude. Burgers and tenders. You need to always have those or families won’t come. Wait - too long. You have so many employees working. I have no idea why your line can’t be more efficient. Employees - rather than say they are rude, I’ll acknowledge that when you see so many people seemingly discontent, management is the issue. You have a reputation for good food. But you gotta have it available or adjust your menu to be honest - ie take milkshakes off. Shouldn’t take so long to make a burger and fries. And be better to your employees so they are happier and friendlier.

We used to love coming here but the past two times have been disappointing. This recent order they forgot to put the gravy so I had to drive all the way back because who eats a chicken fried steak plain? And the time before that they completely botched our burger order. It used to be good. I don’t know what happened. With the horrible food quality, it’s also taking 30-45 mins for the food to be made with barely anyone inside. Kinda sad that this places service is horrible. I sadly won’t be returning

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The young woman who attended me treated me in an extremely rude manner. When I told her I couldn’t hear her well because she was speaking very softly, I kindly explained that I have difficulty hearing at that tone. Instead of being understanding, she began mocking me and treated me with great disrespect. I asked her not to be rude, but she laughed in my face. I then requested to speak with someone else, and the manager came over. While the manager apologized, the rude employee stood right next to her, still laughing at me. I am a frequent customer at this place, and this was the first time I encountered such behavior. I felt discriminated against and attacked simply because of a medical condition that affects my hearing. That does not give anyone the right to mock me. I hope management takes this review seriously when selecting their staff, because no customer should be treated this way.

I never write reviews but this one needed to be addressed. First of all, the staff were not helpful and very rude. Gave me a cup with a hole at the bottom and got all my clothes wet with sweet tea. Then I got back to our office with a sandwich missing. The other two burgers I received were smothered in mayonnaise that made both burgers super soggy and were not able to eat. Fries were cold. Now in order to receive our other sandwich we were missing we had to door dash it to our office, and waisted our whole lunch hour waiting for door dash to bring our food.

Ordered takeout from the local institution, Longhorn Cafe, today after 1+ yr since my last visit. I was completely dissatisfied with the food portions, the lack of food quality, and the order accuracy. I’m embarrassed to say I spent hard earned money for dinner here tonight. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant mix, which is pathetic for the price. Half of their fries were burnt to a crisp and the burger was as hearty as a White Castle burger. ALL of the sides were awful and the green beans appeared to be made on different days from the discoloration. I’m no gourmet chef, but I also wouldn’t waste another dime here to “give it another try”. Maybe their sweet tea is worth a try. I wouldn’t know, unfortunately, due to order inaccuracy (yes I got money back, but it ruined the meal regardless). Busy or not… HUGE changes needed to handle the simplest orders in the world. I ordered via delivery, first time was flawless! 2nd time i ordered 2 combo meals, 2 extra sides and a extra tea. With the correct order tagged on the bag i was excited but opened up just a box of fried pickles! i don't even like pickles lol i tried calling and getting help however was left with no response after several attempts for hours from either the restaurant or delivery service. i ended up paying $40 something dollars for some pickles and some random what looked like burnt sweet potatoes or bell peppers thrown in there, that went straight in the trash. Went from obsessing over this restaurant to not trusting at least ordering delivery from here again in a matter of 24 hours.

First time here. I regret ordering pick up here, because as soon as I came inside and saw how dirty the vents were with dust balls flying everywhere located on top of where they prepared the food I almost puked. 🤢🤮🤮🤮 of course I still paid for the food I ordered but I wanted to walk away and save my money. I tried the food still for the sake of the review but it's hard to get over how disgusting the ceiling was over the food preparation area. I also regret pouring the gravy all over my chicken fried chicken without trying it first. It's just watery white gravy with no flavor. Made everything soggy. The chicken itself had a sweet flavor to it. It was not delicious. The cooks did not wear masks, cashier did wear a mask. Fried pickles was a big order and after eating 5 slices I was over it. Nothing about this $20.00 meal made me smile. Mashed potatoes were okay. I ate a quarter of my chicken fried chicken and gave the rest to my dog. Dog liked it. If you clean those vents and refund my meal I'll remove this review.
