I have no idea why this has such a low rating, unless its cause the long wait sometimes because of the popularity of this place. Go at lunch. It can get loud in there. I would recommend eating outside then if the noise level bothers you. We have been going here for years and just Went today too. They are Attentive, Food is excellent and fresh. This is a place we send anyone coming to San Antonio looking for some good food. A little bit of Spanish, a little bit of Tex-Mex, a little bit of Mexico. Highly recommended.
This place is absolutely amazing! We went for a family dinner and we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was some of the best we have had in a long time. The price is a bit higher than some places but the food, service and atmosphere were well worth it!
One of the best Tex-Mex spots in San Antonio. Great food, great vibe, great service. The fajitas are the star of the show, juicy, flavorful, and perfectly grilled. Chips and salsa are always fresh, and the margaritas are dangerously good. It gets crowded (because it’s good), so be prepared to wait, but the experience is worth it.
Holy hell we're full. 🫄🫃 Pappasitos never disappoints. Denise was our server and she was awesome. She was friendly and knowledgeable and she just started a month ago. She has a positive attitude and is very attentive and well mannered. Carlos came to check on us and made sure everything was good and made sure we had a great dining experience. He was very professional. All in all we had an excellent evening. Photos are snapper ceviche, peach sangria, pappasitos grill and fajita, quail and shrimp brochette.
My husband and I started date nights here, so we try to do it once/twice a week We ordered the “sizzling” fajitas, the plate was not sizzling, there was only 4 slices of the fajitas and a few of chicken pieces not worth being charged the price for them. The servers were ok not like our first time they were amazing, went above and beyond.
The food was amazing. We had the family fajitas and they were great! Service was great and atmosphere awesome. Bummer was we had a reservation that we didn't get seated for till 2hrs past our time. Tough night.
Chill atmosphere not too loud . Tortilla chips are nice & light, taste fresh not salty . Salsa taste a bit bland . (best to mix it with queso.) Ordered the Shrimp fajitas Jalisco style yum! Best I’ve ever had. Large portions and the fajitas come with a garlic butter sauce sooo good! . I asked for a side of queso only to realize I didn’t need it at all because the Jalisco came covered in melted cheese. 9/10 would have been a 10 except for the giant pieces of onions (not for me). Realized afterwards this is the same chain as papadeaxs probably why the food and service was so great! 10/10 definitely recommend!
As always the food was delicious bit the service was fantastic! Anthony was our server and he was on point. He took care of all our needs sometimes before we could ask he would ask if he could get us anything. 8 stars for him as he made our visit even better than normal. Thanks so much Anthony!!!
Hailey was our server tonight and she was INCREDIBLE. Truly some of the best service I’ve had at a Pappasitos. Jozlyn, the manager, also went the extra mile for us. Very much enjoyed this visit. If we didn’t drive 5 hours to town we would have for sure been regulars!
I had an awesome experience at Pappasito’s Cantina. A large bowl of chips and salsa were served for the table, the chips were light and crispy. I tried the beef fajita lunch special. The steak comes medium rare. The fajitas are served with plenty of beans, rice, sour cream, cheese, and pico. The tortillas were awesome as well.
Excellent experience Mixed fajitas were great, steak, quail, shrimp and octopus were outstanding. Chips and salsa were very good Margarita was the best I've had Fresh tortillas were great with garlic butter Sopapillas were not good Ground beef famous burrito was just ok, very salty Service was a little slow but they were very busy
The manager, Brandon, was very attentive and professional. He checked on us to ensure we had a great experience. Our server, Vernice, was also excellent, everytime we needed something she was right there ready to help. The food was great but honestly, the service was truly unmatched. Definitely will be back.
I had never been here before and I'm glad I chose this place for lunch. ALL the employees were so nice there. I would highly recommend this place to those who haven't tried it yet.
We just had the most fabulous meal at Papasitos ! If you haven’t tried their tamales you are missing out - the best I’ve ever eaten & I’ve had a few!!! Cooked to perfection.. The service is impeccable & a shout out to Alejandro for such excellent service he goes the extra mile. Also, I’d be remiss not to mention Hector, mgr who always makes us feel special! So personable. Truly the best Tex Mex in San Antonio bar none!!! I’d give you 10 + stars if I could!! Thank y’all!!
Absolutely fabulous service! Our server Priscilla was excellent; very kind, friendly, and accommodating! The food was great and was very fresh. The manager Mike was also very accommodating. He came over to ensure that my food would be make without cross contact from gluten. Overall, it was a fabulous experience, it’s too bad they don’t have Pappasito’s in Maryland. Whenever we return to Texas, I’ll be sure to come back again.
10/17/25 - Our first visit! Super impressed. Good Mexican food is easy to come by, so this place exceeds all expectations. Our server Sarahiana(?) was the best! Her timing was perfect and portions were HUGE. Be sure to save room for dessert...
Our server Mia K was outstanding and really made our visit memorable. Superb service and the managers were very attentive. I highly recommend the margaritas and fajitas.
Pappasito's is simply amazing. I can confidently say it was some of the best fajitas I've ever had. They make all their tortillas in house, fresh and bottomless. What more do you need to know lol They also have a special on Wednesday night, that is an incredibly good value! There's a reason they have the reviews that they do and they live up to it..
I had a delicious lunch this afternoon. My chicken nachos are my go to meal and they're consistently yummy. Our server Elle was pure joy. She was friendly, attentive and pleasant. One of the managers "Denae" also did an outstanding job.
I ordered Beef Fajitas which came w/ refried or charro beans ( ur choice ). It also comes w/ rice, melted garlic butter, sliced grilled onions, small plate sour cream & shredded cheese. I also added 4 ( looked like x-large ) shrimp from the lunch menu. The beef fajitas were very tasty & tender. The shrimp were charred & tasted fresh w/ a jalapeño strip in it. Forgive my pics. I was hungry b 4 I remembered 2 take a pic. Would come here again ? YES ! ! ! !
We went here for my birthday dinner. Our server was great and stayed on top of everything. They were busy for a Wednesday so I suggest making a reservation like we did. Even with them being busy, it still didn't take long for our food to come out. Everything was cooked to perfection. We love this place and will definitely be back.
Meal was on point as always. Drinks were made beautifully. Service unfortunately was lacking. Waiter Steven was so inamored by my friend that he ignored me on several trips to our table. Had to ask for straws, more chips, things that should have come out with our meal, but despite this, we enjoyed our experience.
I’ll be honest, I’d never been to this restaurant before and thinking I didn’t want another Mexican restaurant. Hubby told me it was different so I gave it a try. We started off with the snapper ceviche which had fish, shrimp and octopus with lime juice and seasoning served in a martini glass. Phenomenal!!! We could have eaten another order but with the cost of about $16.00, we passed on the idea. We shared the combo plate of beef fajitas, quail and shrimp brochettes. Wow, just wow……! Just know you will pay for it at the price around $40.00 but worth it if you don’t come here often. That beef may have been the most tender beef I’d ever eaten. Did not expect that whatsoever. That quail? It was honey glazed and deliciously tender. Again, shocked at how good it was. Lastly, the shrimp brochettes were tasty. The plate came with guacamole, pico and a small dish of garlic sauce along with homemade tortillas. The other plate was the Redfish on a half shell, $36.00. Another phenomenal dish! The redfish was topped with shrimp, charred avocado and some sauce. The redfish was tender, juicy and meaty. Fresh, fresh and delicious! A keeper, for sure. Lastly, we finished the meal off with their tres leches dessert, $9.00. For me, it was way too sweet. They had charred their homemade whipped cream on top but both the whipped cream and cake were achingly sweet. I wouldn’t order this again. The only thing we didn’t enjoy but maybe others like super sweet desserts. With 2 drinks, an app, two meals and a dessert, the total was around $150.00 not including a generous tip. Yes, very expensive for a night out at a non-fancy restaurant with lots of noise and huge crowds, but we’ll come back for the food on rare occasions. Too expensive for regular frequency.
I am never disappointed with the Papp's restaurants. I have been going to many of them in Houston and San Antonio for many years. I usually go to Pappdeaux Seafood restaurants but this time we met friends for lunch at Pappasito's Cantina. Since I love the Hatch chiles I tried their special Pulled Pork Hatch Chilies Enchiladas. They were presented well on the plate, the sauce was not overly spicy, the cheese was nice and stringy and the pork was cooked to perfection. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was the port still had more fat in it than I prefer. Other than than that, everything else was perfect. Chicken Flautas were tasty and huge size, Enough to take home. Also liked their Charro Beans. A shout out to the wait staff as they were very pleasant and personable. Also think the decor was great!
You know from the outside looking in it seems like a tourist trap. Big Mexican Food chain with lots of color and a huge bar. But I was so wrong, Papasitos food was well prepared, served in huge shareable servings and tasted great. We had the nights special, beef fajitas and shrimp. The shrimps were large and the beef Fajitas were tender and well seasoned. The restaurant looks bigger from the outside, so we had an hour wait on a Saturday night that just mentioned we were able to sample drinks for the review. I had a great michalada with a Dos XX, a frozen Magarita, and a Wave Magarita (Sangria and Magarita mix) all were excellent. The music was playing and the atmosphere was great. Parasites could not be blamed for the heat but they did have shade and large fans outside as we sat and enjoyed our drinks.
Pappasito’s is and will forever be our “go to” restaurant in the San Antonio and Houston area. We can never decide what looks best so we go with the Family Platter. It has everything delicious on it so you can’t go wrong. Endless tortillas! And…The Queso Fundido is perfection! You’ll definitely need a to-go box(es). But everything reheats beautifully so it’s an absolute WINNER!!!
Hector was very accommodating when I needed to change my reservation time as well as add more people. Rhi was awesome as our server! All of our needs were met across the board! We have come here many times and honesty this was by far one of the best visits. Food and drinks were great as always!
The staff on duty today were focused, helpful to each other and very attentive to our dining experience. The tamale appetizer is my favorite. We had the chicken fajitas that were grilled to perfection.
By far BEST service in the area! Food was amazing, but the 5-star personal touch from Trent and Hunter sealed the deal. I frequent in the area for work and I have officially found my spot. Good food, good drinks, but amazing service!
We met some friends here for lunch yesterday and we were not disappointed. The service was great, with a nice atmosphere and a nice bar. The tables are spread out pretty well, so you aren't on top of other people. We ordered from the lunch menu, which appears to be a bit pricey, but for the amount of food you're getting, it's a great deal. Seriously, you'll end up with a big platter of whatever you order. The food was nicely seasoned and presented very well, and the wait staff were very attentive. If you're around that I-10 area of North West San Antonio, it's worth the stop. I'll be back for sure.
The food was amazing, and we had a great server that was very attentive his name was Minh. There was 2 of us with dairy allergies and the manager came by to speak to us and ensure us that they could accommodate those allergies for us. Overall a great experience!
Love this restaurant. Huge open dining area. Plenty of parking. Big bar seating. Waiting staff is attentive and quick to respond. The food is excellent. We came for a business lunch and it was full. Looks like a popular lunch spot for busy professionals. Will definitely come back.
My wife and I just wanted to give a shout out to our waiter and the manager on staff this afternoon. We just had a baby Wednesday and he is currently in the nicu. We live about an hour from the hospital and this place is the closest to the hospital with good food. They congratulated us and told us to hang in there and even comped our meal saying it’s a beautiful blessing bringing a child in this world. We both are so appreciative and cannot wait to come back with our son once he is out.
The server was extremely professional and attentive. She stopped by our table every 5 minutes or so. The manager also came to check on us and appreciated our feedback. This is definitely a place you want to take your out-of-town guests or anyone you would like to impress.
Love this place. Service is always excellent and the place is always lively. Our server Christopher recommended this fajita and seafood meal (can't remember the name). It came with lobster tail, 7 bacon wrapped shrimp, a PILE of beef fajitas, a giant bowl of charro beans and rice, plus their homemade tortillas. Of course we ordered the thing 😂. Christopher, I'm obese now. We ate so much, I'm currently regretting my life's choices 🤣. The food was fantastic and your service amazing. We'll ask for you when we come back to SA. We love Papasitos! 🫶
The beef fajitas and ribs are near perfection. And on top of that, the service here is normally really on point. We just went again last night and the waitress we had was among the best servers we've ever had.
Yup it’s a chain but it’s darn good and pretty consistent quality and taste Excellent grilled shrimp fresh and tasty Ribs are tender and have a tangy pepper honey glaze taste unique and tasty!!! Fajitas chicken meat grilled perfectly and tender service outstanding!!! ice test spot on!!! fresh and tasty salsa was fresh and deep intense flavor!! charo beans some of the best anywhere!!!
Repeat customer here. Food is always great, however, the server, Makayla, was exceptional!! Makayla waited on us and took care of our table in a proactive manner vs. reactive. We didn’t have to ask for anything. She kept refills coming without asking and thought of everything our table would need. Makayla is an A++ model of the perfect server, providing exceptional service with a smile.
Went in at 4:30 pm. Not many people and service was excellent, thank you Caesar for you attention and great customer service. Wife and I ordered the #3 family dinner it was delicious and I even have some left over for lunch. Those stuffed shrimp were amazing, the fillet was outstanding and the sausage was awesome. The fideo we extra ordinary. We enjoyed our dinner.
Long time customer here...over 30+ years. You really can't find a more consistent company than the Papas Co. They train their people really well and their food is very consistent. It's also on the slightly more expensive side of the genre, but you get a lot for your money. Props to Verenice for her excellent service and attention to detail. She was extremely friendly, knowledgeable of their menu items and a very efficient server. Our visit extended past closing and she never tried to hurry us along. Very highly recommended location here in SA. Thanks!!
The Manager was wonderful and accommodating to our party which included our 95 yr old mom. Considering it was Saturday and we didn't have reservations, he went out of his way to seat our party of 9.Our server Minh was the best!! He was extremely friendly, engaging and knowledgeable of all menu items. He answered our many questions and gave us extremely excellent service. I wish there were more than 5 stars to give him. He checked on us repeatedly, refilling our drinks and making sure we had plenty of hot tortillas. Minh definitely made our dining experience extra enjoyable. Thank you for your professionalism and your 5 star service. Minh you are definitely an asset to Papasitos. We will certainly be back and asking for you. Thanks Again!
My wife and I shared a belated Valentine's Day dinner at the IH10 location. We were quickly seated amidst the many guests that were already there. In a short time our server, Jack, politely and professionally took our drink orders and made a few friendly recommendations for the cuisine. We had beef fajitas on our minds. In no time, we had drinks, chips, salsa, and appetizers. Long story short, the entire experience was a positive, and Jack, through his many other duties (due to a temporary staff shortage), was there to care for our needs and chat with us briefly each go round. The fajitas were the best in town, according to my wife--and she is from Mexico, so she knows good fajitas when she tastes them. Cooked to perfection! We even had leftovers for the next day, so that speaks for the portions! Thanks to Jack, all the hard-working staff, for the great experience we had!
I love this Pappacitos location, and you will too!! This is the best* Pappacitos I’ve been to next to the Dallas location near Papas Bros campus…. Anyways, real close to UT SA. Food? Delicious. Drinks? Refreshing. Atmosphere? Penthouse. Service? World class baby. I recommend all my friends go here. Try their Grande Reserva Margarita, and their Cesar salad with salmon (cooked medium) is outstanding.
The atmosphere is good, welcome. Lows the feel of the place. The food maybe good for meat lovers. I am a vegetarian and was visiting with my son. They have nothing on the menu for vegetarian people, I find it shocking in this age and time where there are a lot of vegetarian people. I only got a cheese quesadilla as that was the only veggie option in a menu of 4 pages. I sincerely feel they should add a some more options.
The food was absolutely delicious from the appetizers and drinks to the dessert. The service was outstanding. Thank you, Jair, for being so attentive, explaining everything so well, sharing your recommendations, and offering dessert options. You truly made our experience special. We will definitely be coming back and bringing more family with us!
My husband and I just stumbled on this place and man was it a welcome surprise. First off this place is expensive. All these negative reviews are really just people not thinking that Mexican food should be expensive. The dishes with lots of meat range from $40-$100. I thoroughly enjoyed the selection. I enjoyed the quality and I would definitely come back. A lot of the negative reviews focus around the wait time, the service, and the cost. I can’t see too much about the cost because in san antonio Mexican food is so fluctuating. I will say the service was phenomenal and if you had to wait for service, it was probably because they were insanely packed. We went when it was insanely packed during a rush-hour and we didn’t have to wait on our server. Our server was really nice about explaining everything in the dish and when we explained we could not eat pork, he then made sure to address not only if the dish had pork but also if the beans had pork and any possible situation where pork had touched the dish. There was somebody in a review that claimed this place hated veterans because they couldn’t accommodate a last minute massive party. The claim is just kind of insane because if you don’t have a reservation, they can’t help you especially on busy nights, so get a reservation or be ready to wait. Same for the review mad that they could not accommodate during busy lunch hours. We are military and they gave us military discounts. The food itself was great. The meat was cooked really well, the brochette was tasty. The queso with steak was quite memorable. Also their ice cream was amazing. Their drinks were also good. We got two entrées, queso, a drink and, a topo Chico and rounded out to about $114. It was really cool because a lot of those desserts people don’t know the names of so they bring out the plate and show you the dessert so you can see portion sizes, etc. The Google maps to get there was a little complicated so it might take you to a backstreet. The great thing is you can park in the street and just walk there so if it takes you the back route do not fret just park on the street. There is tons of seating inside and out. I was a little bummed, we went when it was cold so we had to be inside and the outside is so cool looking. I definitely wanna go back at night. I bet it’s so fun.
I had a great time here. I honestly didn't know what to get but the birria taco meal caught my eye , im usally skeptical on trying new things but our waitress klarissa mentioned it was great. My overall experience here was good , good was great , costumer service was spectacular and the scenery of the restaurant is beautiful. To some it all up Klarissa did amazing, I even took the time out of my day to tell the manager on how well she was👏. Thank you papacitos for a wonderful lunch , will definitely be back!
Its been a minute since I have dined here at Pappasito's. I have to say.. I forgot how brilliant the food was and the atmosphere. Jair, our server was prompt, knowledgeable and very friendly... he was amazing and definitely made our experience that much more pleasant. Hats off to the Chef and his crew for awesome tasty food and to the Bartender who made our drinks perfect every time. Not one single complaint. The entire staff at Pappasito's gets a HUGE 5 STARS!! Thank you
Hands down best experience!!! This restaurant is not only beautiful the food is amazing tortillas are delicious !! But this review is about Matthew 😊 the waiter. 2 days before Christmas I decided to come in pappasito's I had never been here before But, it had been a really stressful and hard day and I just needed to relax and have some really good food Not only was the food delicious but Matthew was so hospitable gracious professional knowledgeable recommended the best plate not to mention attentive he made the whole stressful day t I had into the best evening! 🙏😊 Thank you so very much Matthew for making this a memorable evening .Merry Christmas to you and yours. Alice J.
We made a reservation for 20 to celebrate our granddaughter's UT/BSN graduation. From the moment we arrived at Pappasito's to the end of our evening, we could not have asked for a better experience. Our main server, Karissa, was personable, friendly, and accurate. The food surpassed our expectations. It was pure excellence all around. We cannot thank everyone at Pappasito's enough for making such a special day even more special. Again, the food, the service, the atmosphere was 1st class. Do not hesitate to place your reservations here.
This was our first time visiting Pappasito’s, but it definitely won’t be the last! From the moment we walked in, the food, drinks, and atmosphere were all amazing. A special shoutout to our server, Christian, who truly made the experience even better, attentive, friendly, and on top of everything our large group needed. We were celebrating our newly graduated Airman, and the staff had no problem accommodating our big party and making the night feel special. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served quickly despite the size of our group. Highly recommend for great vibes, delicious food, and exceptional service! 🎉
This place is top notch!! Everything is great. The rib appetizer is to die for. The guacamole FRESH! I had the Fajita plate with Beef, Chicken and pork. I don't not care for onions but the Pico de gallo and guacamole came with these slivers of pickled red onion... Delicious!!!! Was there with a friend and his Family. They order the Family plate that had beef fajitas, quail and shrimp diablo... also Delicious! The salsa that comes with the chips has a good, smokey taste. Now this place is not idea if you are on a budget. My plate alone was right under fourty dollars. Maybe a good place if you want to splurge and well.worth it. Great atmosphere also.
Pappasito’s has the best Mexican food in Texas. I have lived in Texas most of my life and have visited many Tex-Mex restaurants. Pappasit’s simply offers much better food than other restaurants. Combine that with excellent service and you have a winning combination for 30+ years. The beef fajitas are my favorite but the chicken tinga enchiladas with green sauce and cilantro us a great option.
My family eats at this location about the 3 times a month. The must when friends and family come to town. This review is about our amazing server Aaron! Aaron treated us with amazing customer service…

Make a reservation before you go. Great service the food was good. It’s a festive loud environment!!
The food here was sooo good. We got the #1 which feeds 2-3 it has ribs shrimp and chicken fajita and beef fajita. The ribs were so tender and full of flavor I was surprised. The beef fajita had the best flavor I have tasted in a while. Sooo Tasty!! The chicken had perfect grill marks. I also had a watermelon margarita and it was good, I've had better though. Overall great environment and great food.
Always enjoy stopping by and getting the same meal everytime. The filet mignon fajitas. They are always juicy and flavorful and the grilled onions and peppers complement them greatly. The rice is always good and the hot and fresh tortillas are great. The chicken fajitas are usually dry even with the melted butter so we avoid those. When the weather is cool enough, the small patio is great. I also love the cajetas.. the toasted coconut and sauces are a delightful ending.
Our experience at Pappasito’s left us with mixed feelings. Opting for the family-sized fajitas meant for three, we found ourselves still craving more, indicating portion size might not align with expectations for hungry diners. The complimentary red salsa and specialty green salsa, while interesting in theory, were overshadowed by an overpowering charred flavor that dominated their taste profiles. While the meal had its ups and downs, the flavors in the fajitas themselves managed to salvage the experience. However, for the price point, we expected a more consistent and satisfying dining experience across all elements of the meal. If you're willing to splurge and prioritize flavorful main dishes over complementary items, this might still be worth a visit.
Sunday afternoon, I have to admit, was supposed to be Greek day for me and my partner. But as it turned out, the place we usually go was closed. Pappasitos was on my want to go list, so off we went. Very convenient to our home I might add. By the time we arrived, we were hungry as lumberjacks and ready to go. A nice warm bowl of chips and two temperatures of salsa arrived quickly to save our day. Nice thin, crispy chips and delicious salsa. We quickly placed our cocktail order (2 watermelon margs on the rocks) and our entrees. Tacos al Carbon Pollo for me and Beef/Chicken Fajitas for my girl. We both thought the margs were way too sweet with a poor pour (lol-sorry) of tequila. Entrees arrived and I discovered I had flour tortillas the size of burrito wraps. Unfortunately, the filling was made for taco sized tortillas, so I had two empty ends on each taco. On first taste, my chicken was tough and had chars that were mostly salt. I added some guac and pico and after trimming down the empty ends of the tortilla, I tried again and was met with delicious, juicy chicken. So a fluke in one of the chicken pieces. Same deal with taco number 2. My date reported the beef portion of her fajitas were delicious, but the chicken seemed a little undercooked. Sides for both of us were charro beans and Spanish rice. My beans needed a little salsa to cheer them up and my date reported her beans were too salty. Both of us disliked the gummy, chewy rice. Obviously left in a warmer too long. Despite our complaints, our server was amazing and attentive. All in all, we really wanted to love Pappasitos and put them in the running with our 3 other fave Tex-Mex joints, but we couldn't do it. In the future, we'd suggest a little training for the bartender, forget wrapping the tacos al carbon and just bring tortillas in a server like fajitas, and lastly, pay some attention to how long rice sits in a warmer.
I wasn't particularly impressed by the food; it was rather average. The steak was decent, but it fell short of the expectations I had from my previous visits. I believe the quality has declined since then (it's been over 6 years). The chips fried in coconut oil are acceptable, but only if you enjoy coconut oil. They use that oil for all their fried items. I'm not fond of their queso; it's quite simple; the queso consists of just cheese, onion, and tomato, and it really lacks any notable flavor. Their salsa was an improvement. I did enjoy the dessert, although it's still a fairly basic choice considering its potential. I would say the dessert was the best part of the meal. The service was exceptional 👌🏻, accommodating several large groups. There were numerous birthday celebrations and big crowds, yet everything was delivered promptly. Our server was attentive to our drinks, as expected, and there appeared to be no difficulties. The ambiance felt welcoming too.
I left with mixed feelings. Parking is ok, a little tight but they have plenty of it. Handicap and assisted walking spots and access available. The atmosphere here is inviting and open, five stars for that. I was greeted upon entering, five stars for that, too. Where the star count went down was cleanliness. I sat at the bar since I had just come from a walk, also dining for one and the bar had plenty of seating. Several minutes went by and was about to get up and leave before someone greeted me, wiped down the "sticky" and food from whomever was there prior. The server was polite and was able to offer suggestions for food and drink. The watermelon margarita with mezcal (pictured) was, perfect. I was charged extra and was not told there would be an extra charge for mezcal instead of tequila. This also took away from a five star review. Chips and salsa, ok. The food was also good, not amazing. For the price, it should have been amazing. All in all, the whole experience was ok. For the setting, the price, the atmosphere and the hype, the experience should have been way more than, good. One margarita, chicken quesadilla (not even a full size) and a beef taco was over $30.00.
Legendary place known for their great food and atmosphere. We were there Valentine's Day 2026 and as per usual wenhad the Plato Amor with fajitas, jumbo bacon-wrappez shrimp, lobster tail and all the fixings. Our sever was slow and seemed a bit new which explains the service. We had a great meal and the only recommendstion I'd make is that they used to regularly have Mariachi's and now they seldom do. There were 2 guys that played four songs and that was it. It would do Papasito's wise to pay to have Mariachi's there on a regular basis but especually on Valentine's Day. In the future when deciding where to go that may make a difference since its already so expensive to eat out a value added service like that is critical.
I can't say anything negative about the service or atmosphere -THAT was simply outstanding!!! Not only did they accommodate our party but we're also very informative about the menu, allergies, etc. From the Hostess to the Manager - EVERYONE was friendly and courteous. We also had an amazing experience at the Houston location, so it was only natural to try this San Antonio (I10) location. Unfortunately, the food was quite spicy. All of the food seem to have the same overwhelming spicy flavor. The chips and the corn tortilla items also had an odd taste. I was hoping it was just me but most of our party said the same. If you like a lot of spice - by all means. If only the food lived up to the outstanding people and atmosphere.
Pappasito’s is pretty consistent as far as their sizzling fajita platters and service. We shared the fajita sizzling platter with lobster tail and bacon wrapped shrimp. It was all flavorful. A few co workers ordered the lamb chops, they were delicious as well. Definitely on the pricy side. The portion of food for the price really isn’t worth it.
Had lunch here and it was pretty good, but not the best experience I've had before. The server was very nice and attentive, but seemed to be on "autopilot". Few hiccups, here and there. We got the wrong plate and they handled it very well. Nice and professional. Portions were big and we left happy, all that matters.
Food was fantastic although the service was a little lacking. The waitress was great, but we had a reservation and still had to wait 15 minutes. Also we ordered birria tacos and when all of the food was coming out, we were then told that they ran out and we needed to order something else. They didn’t know they were out prior to all of the other food arriving? So that was an inconvenience. Overall a very popular place and the food is great so it makes up for the rest.
Beef fajita and fresh, and thinner, flour tortillas here is my favorite combo. Also like some of their sangria. Tried the lunch combo beef and shrimp today. That garlic butter, yum, a bit salty hence the need make a taco with all the fixings. Always been great here except today our waitress seems upset, we didn’t want to ask, but did try to friendlier to no response but did do her job. Note on my rating, sharing this as I believe some may assume a 3-star review indicates a mediocre experience. 5 stars: Exceptional! Outstanding food, service, and/or experience—well worth traveling for. (For example, we often drive from San Antonio to Austin just for Uchi.) 4 stars: Surpasses expectations in terms of food, service, and/or ambiance. 3 stars: Solidly good or meets expectations. I would revisit any place rated 3 stars or higher. 2 stars: Falls below acceptable standards for food or service. 1 star: Best to avoid.
First time at this location in San Antonio. We had reservations at 6:45pm and we were seated close to 7pm. Our waiter was nice, but he must have been new. Service was slow. Drinks were excellent as always. Ok, on to the food. Hold the salt! The shrimp and beans had way too much salt. Everything else was delicious.

Picked up a quesadilla this afternoon and it was delicious! I just wish it wasn't so expensive! I paid like 28 dollars for 1 beef and chicken. That's a crazy price! But it was really good. Thanks
Salsa - \nSnapper taco - \nRice and beans - \nTonga taco with red sauce - \nService was good. We were set quickly at lunch.

Slow, slow service. Food arrived cold. Expensive. Not worth time and expense of going there. The atmosphere was nice, and my coffee was hot. The rest was downhill.
Very attentive server. Food was good, especially the shrimp and ribs plate. Also enjoyed the chicken quesadillas by my very picky 9 year old grandson.

The food was ok. The salsa was not the greatest neither were the chips. It had a tart flavor its roasted salsa but couldn’t taste much of the roast flavor. The ribs fajitas and shrimp were great! Tex Mex tamales. I prefer authentic tamales.
I have to say this place is overrated. It's not the best place I've ever been but it's not the worse. It definitely looked like a place that people have a lot to drink before you get to the food. I say this because the place was overly crowded. The seats suck to sit in and the service was definitely not the best if you are sober. The waitress was definitely running on fumes, and the food runners didn't know what they were doing. I am not wanting to take shots. I bet it's great if you just want to relax and have a good time. I recommend ask the price...we didn't expect to be spending almost 100$ for our platter. I don’t think we will be coming here again. I rather go to a hole in the wall for some authentic Mexican food. The platter was delicious. Rice and beans were plain. And when we asked for tortillas to go. They never brought us more after asking twice.
Mixed feelings about Pappasita’s. This was my 2nd time eating here. The environment is lovely. Small dining area. The salsa has a very charred or smoky flavor to it. Not my favorite salsa. But the chips are light and crispy and I enjoy that over the thicker chips you find at other restaurants. The queso tasted a lot like velveeta. It did have large chunks of vegetables in it. For $9.99, it was a small bowl and did not meet expectations. I ordered the fajita tacos. My flor tortilla was very dry. Like it had been sitting out all day. The flavor was good for the vegetables and sauce but the chicken was bland and dry. Rice was cooked nicely and they did offer black beans for a side. My friends shrimp tacos were good she said and she really liked the rice. Military discount is 25%, which is also amazing. I always give that directly back to the server plus regular tip too. She was amazing! Attentive and friendly. Not sure if I’d go back for a third time. Other places to try before I make my way back here. I’d say if you want average tex-mex, you’ll enjoy it.
My husband and I used to frequent Pappasito's in Houston when we lived there but not so much in San Antonio. Yesterday I came here with coworkers to celebrate a few birthdays. I will say that it was a mixed experience. Taylor and Chaz did their best. On the positive side, one of my coworkers was in a rush and told Taylor when he ordered so he quickly got his food. My ceviche with shrimp, fish and scallops was tasty and the right amount of food I needed. My coworker enjoyed her chicken nachos, another enjoyed the Sombrero, another enjoyed the baby back ribs, another enjoyed and couldn't finish his huge plate of nachos and another enjoyed the chicken fajitas. Also the birthday celebrants were treated to each a piece of tres leches cake. On the down side, we were there for about an hour and a half for lunch and one of my coworkers never got to eat her food. I think she ordered the shrimp and steak skewers and her food was dropped somehow. They comped her meal and she brought food back to the office. It was terribly unfortunate. For others that enjoyed the food, some did have to wait a while. Perhaps it's the challenge of feeding a larger group.
Food was mediocre. The tortilla and salsa were nice, freshly made tortilla at the store was a bonus too. I had the trio enchilada, cheese, shredded pork and chicken. It was…okay… it wasn’t anything special, it was very salty and tasted quite stodgy. It wasn’t anything special. It was nice but I wouldn’t order it again. The tres leches cake however, was insane. That was my favourite part of the meal and was really, really good.
Came here for lunch with co-workers. Surprised there was a short wait; but 5 minutes and we were seated. Server took our drink order first and came back to take our food order. This is a huge restaurant. Food was good; but over-priced. Dip for tortillas were good; but it was more like a sauce than salsa. Service was so-so. Our drinks arrived with our food. We watched her walk around and you could see the moment when she realized she forgot our drinks; but wasn't quick enough to get them to our table before the food.
Celebrated my 25th birthday here this weekend for the first time. Service was amazing but the food and prices were a bit of a letdown. Definitely overpriced for the quality. Women’s restroom was dirty. Rice was too dry, which was super disappointing. What was mostly shocking was how much an alcohol shot was ($15 each). Thankful for the server who double checked if we were okay with the price before even ringing it up. For reference, big margarita ranges from $12-18 here. So $30 for 2 shots is insane, personally. The staff was nice enough to comp a birthday dessert which was delicious and sing happy birthday Pappasito’s style.
Great place! Food was hot and fresh! The staff was amazing! Just a caution for new parents, it is LOUD! With the music and cramped seating with other patrons having their own conversations. My baby is three months old and their where other similar aged babies in the restaurant and it was a constant fussy and feared crying from them. Love the place we will try again but not during dinner and when my baby is older.
I have not been here in years. Wanted to have a few drinks and watch football. Then my usual go to in this scenario is order everything on the menu to take home. Synopsis. After 2 or 3 drinks with chips and an appetizer I get probed by management. Like a drunk test. I passed the test. Test was a conversation with a young gentleman with a tie. It was weird. I passed it and got another drink and ordered food to go. Tried to get another drink while waiting on food and it happened again another drunk test by tie dude. At this point, I told bartender to skip the drink, it is getting awkward. With food and drinks, I spent roughly $300 with tip. I did not want the staff to suffer for this awkward situation. Tip was very generous. I even tipped kitchen staff before preparing my food. I always try to do that. As for the food. Fajitas were ok. shrimp was ok. But don’t get the ribs, not good. You had to work to get the meat off the bone. Not the fall off the bone ribs. Overall. I will not be back. The harassment is not worth the sub par food. I almost called the restaurant when I got home and said, home safely.
1st time here. Food is very expensive. Over $100 just for beef fajitas for 4. The fajitas were good, but I expected better. Our service was also good but not great. She was not rude by any means, but I just felt she wasn't the right person for the position. The atmosphere itself is great.

It took awhile to be greeted but service was good after. The food was delicious but expensive for the amount. Living in Texas you can find just as good for half the price.

Haven’t been to Pappasito’s in a while. Not what it used to be. We ordered chicken fajitas for 2 and it came out very fast. So quick that it wasn’t sizzling on the hot plate like other tables that ordered fajita platters. The chicken was cut in such large pieces that they were too large for the small corn tortillas. The rice was undercooked and crunchy but had a good taste. The refried beans were good. The tortilla chips and salsa were bad. The chips tasted like oil and a bad one at that. There was a similar flavor in the roasted salsa. Our server was nice. Will skip Pappasitos next time and go to Lupe Tortilla.
We walked into Pappasito’s tonight and were immediately hit with a strange, sour, almost rancid smell. It was so off-putting that we nearly turned around and left. Our waiter was fantastic—friendly and attentive—but when he brought out the chips, we realized *that* was the source of the odd odor. After trying a couple (and confirming the unpleasant taste matched the smell), we asked for tortillas instead, which were thankfully fresh and tasty. The waiter explained that the chips are fried in coconut oil and admitted the smell doesn’t sit well with some people. Fair enough—but this wasn’t just a polarizing aroma; it smelled *spoiled*. To make matters worse, my salad came topped with tortilla strips, which I suspect were fried in the same oil, because that same funky odor lingered. I have read many other people have experienced this. Could it have been an issue with old or improperly stored oil? The service was great, but the chip situation really put a damper on the meal. Unfortunately, we won’t be back
not worth it. one fajita taco, no guacamole, no cheese. $14.95. one top shelf margarita 17.95. mostly ice. \nnever will i go back. almost $15 for a tortilla with little fajita meat.

Sat at the the bar, no one in sight for 5 minutes and not a friendly bar tender. Food to value ration was pathetic and waiting 15 minutes to get my food at 2:00 pm. Lost my business!!!
They overcharge for their food. The service is so slow. They overcharged me for my meal. It is loud. Do not go there and waste your money on this place.

Pappasito's is another Text-Mex restaurant which I will probably not return to. Service at the bar sucked as we waited too long for drinks, and margaritas were watered down. The fajitas were a rip…
I am rating this restaurant one star because of uncleanliness. My family and I dined in the restaurant. After we paid the bill, and were leaving, I went to the bathroom. While washing my hands, a kitchen employee stumbled out of the stall with his pants around his knees. He pulled up his pants, looked at himself in the mirror, walked out of the bathroom without washing his hands, and returned to the kitchen. I was furious and I told a manager. I received a call from another manager, who tried to assure me that was a one-off, and it would never happen again. The hardest part of the conversation with the manager was my perception he was trying to have the conversation with me without any form of restitution. I don't care about restitution. We used a gift card that day and the meal was basically free. My family and I were never going back anyway. I did not like his approach to the conversation. To be clear, this rating and review are in the interest of public safety, not about the conversation.
I have never had worse Mexican food in my life in my 50 years of living in San Antonio. And when we walked in there was a smell like soapy moisturizer that still is fuming off our clothes. We couldn’t eat the chips either. I ate two and it tasted like bad oil. I wanted to leave, but we hoped it would be better. I got tacos and couldn’t eat the shells. Same with my son. My oldest son had quesadillas that were decent. My wife had to unwrap her flautas to eat the chicken inside because the wrapping smelled and tasted disgusting. Crazy thing was the place was packed. So disappointing and gross. Only positive was service. From hostess to wait staff. All were very nice.
Just awful overpriced food. The chips are the only redeeming factor. My Flautas came burnt. With most of the “roll” empty. No meat. Flavors were lacking. After instructing the server absolutely no cilantro, my plate came with a pile of it. Hadn’t been to a Pappasitas in over 9 years. Now I remember why.
Waited ten minutes to be discriminated against. Not surprised, I’m a Hispanic featured looking 45 y/o.. they walked me as a single party to the very end corner table by the emergency exit door while there were plenty of other small tables available with the rest of the people. Host and her side kick male with curly hair I felt were happy to see me leave. I have business casual clothes on and clean up well everyday. So why else would they toss me away so happily.
