Refuge Coffee + Beer Garden

We visited here a few days ago, and the coffee was great and the atmosphere was awesome! My toddler had so much fun in the outdoor area (which had a play scape, swings, and other outdoor toys). We can’t wait to come back when the pizza food truck is open in their parking lot and to try some of their beer and wine options! This is a perfect place to bring the family and meet up with friends.

I drink coffee everyday being a single mom with working full time and going to school full time. A lot of the time I’m too busy to do anything and whenever a friend wants to catch up, I suggest this place! I can go and get my coffee fix while my daughter plays. I also love that they have a little seasonal area to take pictures at. Sometimes I don’t have time to take cute fall or holiday photos with my daughter, but that little seasonal area has helped me get some photos in! They recently had a bounce house for the kids and I was able to get in a little coffee date with my boyfriend. It’s very rare we go out on dates due to my schedule and us always having the kids. He also has a four year old and it was nice to let the kids play while we got a moment to ourselves. The staff has always been great! Nice people and the young girl there, I can’t remember her name, always helps me by recommending new drinks whenever I go. She’s also very funny and makes us feel welcomed!

Tried this hidden gem and wow what an amazing time! Especially during holiday season. Low prices, delicious tacos and also the awesome goat farm. Service was also amazing, will be coming back tomorrow ha!

Yet another super cute hidden gem of a coffee place! And they have beer, too. Enjoyed a latte flight (chai, hazelnut, & vanilla) & some of their signature pop-tart pastries. Love that there are indoor & outdoor seating areas (outdoor area dog friendly 👍🏻) & even a play area for the kids. Thanks for a pleasant experience! Super fantastic & will be back!

This unique whole in the wall coffee bar and hipster style outdoor seating area is a great place to simply escape and indulge in a brew. They have quite the unique flavors of specialty coffees. A favorite is an iced matcha with lavender and coconut topped with vanilla foam. Mm mm tasty. I love taking our grandkids (toddlers) there to play. There’s a playground, and a garden with hens, & creative sitting spaces. On Tuesday’s we like to see the lil goats that cone to visit. 😇All makes me feel united with nature!!! 🥰 Indoor seating is also nice. It’s a great place to study, meet w/ clients, take homeschoolers, or take a break as a stay at home parent. Hope you enjoy this place as much as we do!!

Visiting family while in town and stopped by because the place looked interesting. Boy was it interesting!!! They have a good variety of coffee and beers available! Delicious coffee and pastries intoxicate the whole place it smells incredible! Cozy and good size inside with board games and a big patio/yard area with a long of picnic tables, and even a playground for the kids. They do also have a food truck if you want something savory. Can't wait to visit family again so I can come visit this spot!

Refuge is the place to go to enjoy great company over delicious coffee, beer, and wine. I've gone several times since they've opened, and each time I have been blown away with the staff's incredible hospitality and excellent coffee. I'm usually very snobbish when it comes to coffee. Refuge delivers on all counts. I'm a particular fan of their single origin pour over. Highly recommend! This really has become a staple in the local area. The community that comes out is vibrant. It's great to come and study and work or to meet a friend. I've come by right at open for coffee on my morning commute and enjoyed catching up with friends in the evening over local craft beers. Seriously, this place is a hidden gem.

Today was my second visit to this coffee shop, and I just had to share my experience! My fiancé and I came for the first time yesterday, and we absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was incredible, and DT was beyond amazing; his energy, warmth, and welcoming personality made us feel right at home. His bubbly attitude and genuine hospitality made this one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a long time. I enjoyed it so much that I came back today with a friend, and I know I’ll be back again and again. This place has officially become my go-to coffee spot! Looking forward to many more visits, as I will be a regular from now on!

Great environment for families! The play area for the kids is so much fun, there are so many events that incorporate community and family time outside of the house that I cannot recommend this place enough! We can come here and let our four year old play while we relax with our favorite drink (coffee, beer, or cider) or even work on our laptop while our kiddo plays with other kiddos from the area! Highly recommend and truly a hidden gem in San Antonio!

Staff is very lovable and helpful, their personalities were vivacious, very fun atmosphere, great food and music, perfect for families! Plus baby goats! What’s not to love?! ❤️ I recommend the cinnamon roll and lavender, earl grey tea! What I love most about this place is that it is a hidden gem that supports/promotes other small businesses. I’ve never been here and it was good vibes the second I walked in, cool stuff to do good music and the drinks were awesome. The person behind the counter answered every question I had regarding the drinks and the place in general. This is the perfect spot to hop on my computer with the free wifi , no distraction and get a good drink or to bring my kids to play outside and have a small picnic.

My daughter chose this place for her birthday coffee. They were really nice and even gave her a free bday pastry that was delicious. Coffees were perfect and hit the spot, too.

We went for the goats. They frequently have goats for kids to interact with. The food offerings are usually baked goods similar to what one might find at Starbucks. The beer offerings are also pretty good

They usually have some good music playing outside. There is also a chicken coop filled with colorful, fluffy chickens. The past 2 times we've been they have had them out pecking around the coop area. Very polite chickens and the goats are very sweet too. Very cool spot, highly recommend. Haven't made it to the beer garden yet but I'm sure the vibes are just as enjoyable.

We come here for the Beer and Hymns monthly, they are a great business with a huge variety of drinks and a great atmosphere! Great place for the kids to play and the adults to relax inside or out back. If you're really adventurous, check out the animals!

I’m a craft beer drinker, my wife is a coffee drinker, my 7yo loves running around outside, and my 18 year old enjoys throwing around a football, playing a board game, or relaxing outside. I saw others working if you want to sit down and enjoy coffee or an adult beverage I see the potential. I did drive out of my way to try it and took it to go so my experience wasn't as epic. They have a variety of drinks both teas and coffee with the option to infuse with CBD / THC if you prefer. Baristas provided good service.

I saw a post on FB events, about a petting goats and kids crafts. Sadly it didnt give full description on "about event area" there was a $9 charge per Child to pet the goat and get access to 1 art/craft activitie. I ordered a iced coffee with cream and caramel. Nice and smooth flavor. Done really well. Would buy again. Unfortunately the coffee shop itself was understaffed and therefore inside was dirty. Tables had not been cleaned, drinks left on tables, crumbs on tables and floor. And bathrooms not checked in a while.

Such a cute spot , the gentleman was super sweet. Asked a question on pastry items with the other barista and wasn’t really given an answer other than they weren’t placed out yet. So I asked again if I could purchase it was like I had to pull it out of her to get an answer 😅 when I was shown the box she held it at a weird angle that I had to literally tip toe to view. It was just a very dry experience. I’m not sure if she’s new but just a little work is needed. Latte milk was slightly burnt but again that can be worked on. The spots a cute spot just not a good first experience. Sorry I had a Karen experience 😭

Staff was ok, coffee was not terrible but I ended up taking few sips and throwing it away. Lacks flavor. Instant coffee is more rewarding than this cup.
