Opinions de Sarku Japan San Bruno
We love the Teriyaki Chicken with extra chicken and sauce. Our favorite, always good. Always our go to.
Update. "Welcome back," was how I was greeted before ordering the $7.99 Tuesday special, Teriyaki chicken with steamed rice and salad along with 'double meat.' Which made it a little over $10.00. Though I haven't been to Sarku Japan in approximately 2 years, I decided to give them another chance. Besides, I'm not 100% sure that, a meal from them gave me some stomach issues. That said, this visit was impressive. It was simply delicious. Check 'em out the next time you're in San Bruno.
Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food for the affordable price! Ordered the shrimp bento with an additional topping of teritaki chicken. The meal was. So tasty, I didn't need to add any additional condiments to elevate the flavor. Indeed, the teriyaki chicken was very well prepared. Shrimps were tiny but very tasty. And the accompanying dragon roll and fried gyoza was worth every bite!
Food was super fast, and the sushi was so fresh, I couldn't get a picture of it bc I finished it first 😅
I usually get the chicken teriyaki bento with rice, this time I switched up to the noodles and it was the best choice ever. The noodles are packed with flavor by all means, and the chicken is tender and marinated well. I always get filled up with the deliciousness
Highly recommend the Teriyaki chicken over rice tastes good! Good service ! Nice people around here! Will be return back!

I tried the teryaki chicken plate with regular meat portion. It comes with a lot of steamed white rice which I happen to like. I found the meat portion adequate, although some may want to go extra. Prices were very reasonable, and all the food tasted great, especially the mixed veggies (although there could have been more of those).
I heard the one in San Francisco Centre was closing, and remembered this one was still open. Since they opened there in 2014, they'd often have someone giving out samples of the signature chicken, but I never was there during a meal time to order. As Tanforan is shutting down for redevelopment, Finally I did patronize Sarku after years of procrastination. So it was great, I ordered the best selling chicken teriaki combo with rice and brocolli. The teriaki flavor was really subtle, in that it was not very strong, but enough to notice. The brocolli had kind of a janky safeway brocolli bag taste, but it was okay because the rice was tasty and overall the whole thing was good and fulfilling. I would give the food 4.5 stars. I had some leftover chicken bits and might put some sauce on it. According to Tanforan management, the whole food court is shutting down. More than half of the food court stalls (including upstairs) are empty. The employee said they were not moving to Serramonte like the yogurt shop. I noticed as I ate there were like 10 doordash orders picked up. Pretty impressive. The free sample program probably got them a lot of customers over the year. I hope to try Sarku again at their other locations and that they will consider opening a new location in San Francisco north peninsula. I wish the employees there well.
I think it’s great. I really like the chicken and shrimp with rice. I’ve had the beef and that was very good too. Very well priced considering everything is expensive these days. I just hate the parking situation. You have to park far and walk over because they are in the mall

ITS CLOSED!! SHUTTERED! This is the best branch of the Sarku chain (chinese owned Japanese food). I asked Panda Express across the court and they said they shut down last month. This Sarku has the freshest meat. Serramonte branch has the worst, old meat. Maybe this manager can help Serramonte to bring it up to average.

Great Japanese style fast food. Not a huge selection, but the basics are definitely included in their menu. Teriyaki Chicken, beef, veggies, shrimp, noodles and rice.. Simple Sushi assortment. Gyoza and salad come with their version of the Bento Box. Nothing too 'out of the ordinary' and exciting, but tasty and satisfying. And if quick and yummy is what you're looking for, then go to Sarku Japan. Located in the historic but now Millennial and upbeat Tanforan Mall in San Bruno.

Decent price for a filling meal! It’s a quick fix of proteins and carbs on a grill. When your looking for something different to grub on in the mall grab the teriyaki chicken and rice/noodles and add hot sauce.

Sarku of Japan is one of those fast food restaurants you need to go yourself to make sure you get what you paid for, especially during end of quarter sales periods. Remember the old scams of paying for hot wax in a car wash to find out your paying extra for nothing? That's the same thing that happens with double meat and extra sauce take out orders done through food services. The special containers they use can't hold the extra food your paying for to begin with, and when we placed two separate orders, one with extra meat and sauce, one normal, both orders had same exact weight and contents, so I basically paid $27 more for my family, to get nothing. Secondly, I find even when tipping a lot more, delivery will still try dropping off bad order, then confront Sarku for not including what was paid for. If you want extra sauce, want that double meat you paid for, be prepared to go there yourself which I normal do as even then they will try skimping out on the extras if your not there to make sure it's done. Today's dinner was more chicken on plain rice than chicken teriyaki with sauce over rice. Go in yourself or risk getting ripped off. At least the food service refunded half my order when I sent pictures in immediately upon delivery. Sarku, shame on you!

I went to Tanforan as of today, the guy serving the chicken from 5 to 5:15pm. is the rudest person in the world I ever met. This was my child hood. his actions already shows it all. I just asked if this was already double portion because I go all the time and I know what a regular order is and a double portion is because I’m a big back.so I just double checked with them just to see what he was going to say, and he started talking smack in his language, thinking I did not understand I hope they can make a change because people really enjoy this place, but they will stop going because of the customer service that they give. If I can recall in his language he had said “is she that big”

I give this place 2.8 stars/5 Stars deducted because the service is below acceptable. Also because The chef gave me attitude and cashier handed me water with dirt inside (they leave uncovered water on the table). Chicken with rice is very tasty and I always add on 1.50 for double chicken because if not it will not fill up a adult. Added shrimp is not good it just tastes frozen and there's only a couple pieces. I always ask for extra sauce no extra charge because the chefs never put enough. Definitely can't beat the price!
There teriyaki food is good but stay away from the sushi! 7-11 probably has better sushi. Rice was warm, the spicy tuna looked so odd. My sister ate some and later had the runs. Do not eat their sushi!!!!

Worst ever Sarku Japan I've eaten at. Usually Sarku Japan in mall food courts it's pretty good. Don't know what the problem is with this particular one. Food is awful. Even the Coke was bad. How can you have bad Coke?

We ordered here last week (July 8, around 4 in the afternoon). The guy cooking the food yelled at me several times to pick up the food we ordered with both hands. There were several people around also waiting for their food. The guy cooking beside him snickered, and they started talking in Chinese with the cashier. It's very rude and disrespectful. Not to mention you are purposely embarrassing someone in public. This crew obviously doesn't care how they treat their customers. Maybe for them since they are serving fast food it doesn't matter. And I understand I have to pick up the hot food with both hands! I was trying to balance and fix the bags that I was already holding! I yelled back to him that I heard what he said and he needed to relax. The bento box that we also ordered was not even good. The sushi rice was so wet and mushy. There are other places where you can order in that food court. If you want your business to continue doing good treat your customers well. You need to put this rude cook in a kitchen that's not out in public if he's so miserable at what he does.
My son ordered a chicken-shrimp teriyaki plate. My son confirmed that's his chicken- shrimp plate when he got the food. But it turned out No shrimp at all. I double checked with them. I was told yes that was chicken- shrimp 🍤 plate - they emphasized there was one shrimp 🍤 lol lol. So cheappppp...... only One Shrimp. And we didn't see any shrimp even One Shrimp in his plate......
Arrived to no line but a wait for employees to put down their phones. Order teriyaki chicken and veggies. Chicken was already prepared sitting on the side of the grill but was under cooked. Rather than take the chance at getting sick, I ordered from a Taqueria in San Bruno with better reviews. I should have read the reviews for this place. I will avoid this Sarku moving forward, and I would definitely recommend everyone do the same.
Really don't like this place. They prioritize speed over quality so they are really skimpy when it comes to the amount of meat on a plate. I ordered a dish that came with a side of sauted vegetables and within these vegetables I got the bottom of the stem of broccoli which is typically thrown away since it's really oxidized. These guys charge mall prices(which arent cheap) for really low-quality food. I thought I'd never say it but you are better off going to Panda Express if you want asian food.
