Opinions de The Omelette House San Carlos
The omelettes are, not surprisingly, delicious. My date was in the mood for pancakes, so he got pancakes and they were only ok. But I can't hold that against them. They're not called the pancake house! Omelets are great, highly recommend the one that has cream cheese, avocado and bacon, or maybe I custom ordered that? Great service and energy, has a comfy vibe. Don't go here for a fancy brunch with the girls where you're actually putting on makeup and wearing something cute. Go here when you're tired or hungover or for whatever reason need something casual.
*** Update*** I recently went here again and tried the corn beef hash. I highly recommend it. Also, tried the Belgian Waffle so fluffy and buttery I passed by this place a few times and always wanted to stop by and try it. Finally, I got to try it, and this place is amazing. Upon entering, it seemed super busy. It looks like the place has been here for a while, but the chairs and tables looked modern. Not worn out and faded looking like some places. I was warmly greeted, right away. She looked like someone who enjoys her job. She told me that he chicken fried steak was the special today. So naturally, I had to order it. The portion was just right. It was crispy and so flavorful with the gravy. The other item we ordered was a ham and cheese omelette with pancakes. It looked so basic, but the flavor was amazing. The pancakes were buttery and delicious. I highly recommend this hidden gem. It is definitely worth it. It was reasonably priced, and the portion was just right.
I've been going to Omelette House for years and I can say that the omelettes are really consistent. I like my omelette without any brown spots and they make it perfect every time I order them.
Delicious breathable and great service and some leftovers for later!
Great for breakfast. The portions are good size and you can request egg white omelettes as well as fruit instead of hash browns or potatoes. Can sit outside if the weather is good.
First time visiting this place . The food was great ,,, sausage gravy was a tiny bit spicy for my taste, but otherwise great. The service was exceptional, our server was very very attentive and super friendly. Truly service with a smile !!! All in all a fantastic place to visit !
Very nice little brunch place in the Belmont area. Our waitress was so sweet and so attentive and the food was delicious. There was no wait at all, but it was way past the breakfast rush time. If we ever return to this part of CA, we will be sure to stop by The Omelette House again 😊.
Great food fast friendly service. We will be back. Thanks
Good solid meals. Prices are fair, portions are generous. Food will be a little greasy, but diner food is always a great way to power through a day. Staff are super nice, and attentive.
Everything is so delicious and well done. The service is great and very nice people assisting on anything we need. I recommended it 10/10!

Very friendly services. A wide variety of breakfast choices and omelettes us the best crispy hashbrowns.
Really nice place with amazing service and food. I wish I went earlier in my stay. I will definitely come back whenever I am in the area.
This place is absolutely the best place to eat breakfast . food made with love and you can just tell by looking at it. Its in a nice area and you can sit outside and enjoy the wind draft or sun . the hospitality goes a long way too.
Lovely breakfast/lunch restaurant. Very friendly people, good food (a ton of choices for omelettes or scrambles), relatively reasonable prices.
This is the third time I have been and it was as good, if not better, than the last two times! Food is awesome and fast. Service is to die for! And prices are quite reasonable.
Friendly helpful staff and the best breakfast in town. Great menu breakfast/lunch. My go too breakfast spot
Great breakfasts! Huge selections! Wait staff very courteous and we got our food in no time and it was delicious . The portions were large.
AMAZING!! What a warm welcome I had!! I walked in and it was nothing but smiles and good vibes. The food was yummy and the staff was attentive and polite..
Well let begin by thanking Tania, for the great customer service. She was given us a great welcoming and great atmosphere, service and food! I'll definitely be back! I see future management!👍👍👍
The food and the service was very good. A little pricey but very comfortable place to have a nice meal. We would be happy to go again.
We love having breakfast or lunch here. Atmosphere is old school diner but the food and service are far superior to a regular diner. Today I had a BLT with avocado and a small bowl of navy bean soup. Both were excellent!
Solid breakfast place with affordable tasty meals. My Eggs Benedict had a thick slice of ham that I found delicious. Other dishes that we tried were a do-it-yourself scramble, a kid's Mickey Mouse pancake (ask for it, not on the menu) and bacon cooked to our requests. Fabulous! We were all very happy when we left.
I'm a fan! This place hits all the requirements for a 5 star rating, namely: 1 - the food is good! 2 - the price is reasonable for the quality 3 - the ambiance and service make for a pleasant experience Special shout-out to this place as we showed up 10 mins before they closed and they still gave us amazingly friendly service.
This place is great. Pretty much exactly what you’d imagine a sitcom diner to look and feel like—I just got coffee but the food looks good too!
Dear Mr. Omelette House, My friend and I came to have lunch/breakfast and let me tell you that it has been the most amazing place I have ever ever eaten breakfast in the San Carlos, Belmont area since I have moved to the area. The staff are amazingly friendly, we were greeted and offered a table and as we walked in. The country fried steak was amazing so was the country potatoes amazing, such generous portions. We will be coming back!
Excellent breakfast place with good food and good service. I enjoyed their egg omelette with cheese and mushrooms. Pancakes were delicious! Fast service and comfort food. Yes 👍💯
First of all, let's talk about the size of their menu. You'd have to be pretty imaginative to come up with an item NOT on their menu, especially in regards to omelets. Aside from that, as you sit at your table and watch the cooks in the back creating your tasty food, the staff really takes good care of you and the service is always fantastic. Plenty of choices for you to choose from, if an omelet is not to your liking. But, everything is good here, very hard to go wrong, enjoy....
This is the best, bar none, diner for comfort food priced right on the SF Peninsula. And, dont tell anyone, but ther servers and food is also the Peninsula's best. 5 stars & then some! P.S. Favs are Turkey melt for lunch & Biscuits & Gravy for breakfast - Get it with a one egg side... Also, the pancake combo will fill you up & is delicious!
Omelette House is a mid-peninsula mainstay. They offer all of your diner fare, a full burger lunch menu, and delicious specials. You'll love the atmosphere, as there are usually a solid group of regulars. The service is top notch, and very friendly. You're quite often greeted by one of the owners or their family members. It's a fun, delicious, family-owned diner.
October 15, 2022, I was having lunch at the Omelette House, where I witnessed the following event.A customer returned to the restaurant with a “take-out” container in her hand. She rudely shoved the container in the face of one of the employees. As the customer complained about the quality of the container (it leaked in her car), she spoke to the employee in a rude and demeaning manner. Paul, who may be the owner, politely interrupted the customer and ask that she speak to him outside. Paul maintained his composure as she continued with her rant. Paul, calmly and politely, told her that she was rude and out of line. She disrespected his employee and made a scene at the restaurant. He shared that he understood she was upset, which would explain her behavior. The customer, calmed down, and actually apologized to Paul. She realized she was wrong. Paul had the right to ask her to leave and not return. Instead, he remained calm, and addressed her concern with the food container. His calmness brought the angry customer down to the peaceful place he was addressing her from. Paul apologized for the quality of the container. He even offered her coupons for her next visit. Paul’s customer service and interpersonal skills went above and beyond. He saw beyond the customer’s misdirected anger, and rose above the situation. It was refreshing to see such and incredible exchange.
Ive been here twice for breakfast and had a wonderful experience both times! The waitresses were lovely and attentive and never made me feel like they were trying to rush me. Eggs Bene was devine (only served on weekends unless its a special) , very rich but that is exactly how I think it should be.
The servers were so nice, it made for a wonderful experience. Food was great too.
I’ve had both breakfast and lunch at the omelette House. The staff is friendly the service is quick and the food is always good. I’ve had just regular bacon and eggs for breakfast and the chicken sandwich with a side of potato salad for lunch. Both were very good.
Great service. Greeted at the door. Seated quick drinks came out , plenty to of time to overlook menu amazing turn arround on our plates. Food definitely hit the spot. Server was great.
Visited here with my cousin and brother. The waitress that helped us was the best. She even gave us some cupcakes, because she enjoyed us as a table. My omelet was incredible and the prices were fair. Would recommend. 👍
Some of the best breakfast food I’ve had in a while. The staff was super friendly. They were moving around serving everyone and they never had an attitude. Great prices. Come and support this little omelet house!
I have never had a bad meal at the Omelet House, and I've been coming her for 15 years. Food is always tasty and comes out fast. Service is always friendly, attentive, and prompt. I hope they never leave!
My husband and I stopped here while waiting for our tires at the local Les Schwab. The young lady who was our waitress was exceptional! The food was amazing. Hands down best service!
It was good but my meal was smaller than it had previously been.
Tanya is the friendliest server and made us feel welcome and at home from the first moment we tried this place. Together with the consistently good food, it's a great way to relax on a weekend morning.
I have been driving by this place for two years and been wanting to stop and finally had a chance today to do so. Outstanding, friendly staff who kept my coffee filled and was very attentive. Definitely going back.
This place is great. Lots of choices, good food, friendly service. Very pleasant experience. Will return when I'm back in the area.
Classic diner feel with amazing food!
I was looking for something simple and happy I am that I chose to come here: 2 eggs over easy, 2 pancakes, 2 Italian sausages. Yum! The service was right on point and appropriate friendly. Will definitely come back! Wish they had outside sitting, but being on El Camino can be noisy, so, happy to be inside 😀
Really great place food is great coffee as well an the orange juice equally great I would defanetily recomend this place for breakfast items that arent real seen in other breakfast places stark comparison but persay gravy here I cant get at mcdonalds breakfast kind of thing really good place for breakfast lovers..
Our go-to breakfast place for the weekends. Make your own scramble with cream cheese is always good. Update 08/2024: Still amazing! Great service and a real local feeling. We have tried all different combinations of the scramble and like them all.
I'll keep it short. Beautiful diner, great price for family, good food, and they have a fish tank. 10/10
Had a good time, quick service. Good food had to ask for a couple of things. Napkins, no big deal, got some water, no big deal. It's audience participation.I had fun and you will, too
Visiting from Arizona and found this great breakfast place! Got me an omelet with hash browns, just absolute amazing. The rest of the family loved it as well. Nice friendly staff, great service, would def come back here again.
Neighborhood staple with lots of regulars, including me. It's everything you could want in a breakfast diner. The value is exceptional, it's like their prices are 15 years old.
Just a classic breakfast place with great food and amazing service. We enjoy coming here and having a filling a delicious meal.
Don't let the parking lot fool you the place is bigger than you think and parking on the street and lot were easy. My first time here and menu is extensive and the place is spotlessly clean, both inside and out. My BLAT on rye was perfect. Kathy looked after us well and was charm personified. My coffee was continously refilled. Get the impression not as busy as Stacks but a great diner that has continued to be updated so does NOT feel tired or old, just classic with genuine hospitality from servers like Kathy!
This is one of our favorite breakfast places. Everyone is very friendly! The food is great every time. It gets busy a lot of the time but when we go they always make sure everything is right with our order. What keeps us coming back is they are VERY appreciative of you coming & supporting a local business. There are very few places now that are spot on with customer service, this place is definitely one at least for us!!
This place is our go to spot for breakfast and lunch! My family and I love the food and the old school diner atmosphere. Great service and great management. Highly recommended.
This place is AMAZING!!! I love the food here as I am from the East Coast and I know what good food is! Everyone is nice and I like how you are able to make substitutions on any of the meals they serve. Everything is fresh the veggies they use, and OJ they serve. Corn B Hash is homemade, and the Burgers are so delicious as the grind there own meat. I seriously recommend this place if you want a nice family environment.
I really like this place. I had the San Mateo omelette yesterday when I came here with friends. I liked it so much I came here for breakfast again today. The flavors are well balanced. The portions are large. The service is attentive but not overly so and it feels like a quintessential American diner. I will definitely be back here again.
ALWAYS good food, friendly waitresses and a good owner who comes out and makes sure to chat with customers. If you like Omelets this is the great place to go! I get a vegetarian and specify no tomatoes and it is always correct and yummy! And I get the hash browns which are perfect. A group of us usually go and everyone is always pleased with their choices. The side of bacon is to die for! Again, fresh and hot with coffee refills. We have gone weekdays and weekends. It is a consistent restaurant. You know what you are getting and it is good!
10 stars! Amazing welcoming place. The moment you walk in you could feel the cheery warm vibe the place has to give. Not sure if it's family-owned, but the staff all smiley, exchanging pleasantries and look like one big family. And the FOOD YUMMY DELICIOUS! They have 50 types of omelette itself, then pancakes, waffles etc are there too. If you are in the area, do give a try. You won't be disappointed. Gauranteed!
Ella is a social justice warrior making a scene, NEVER happened he way she says. I was there. I have always had excellent service and great food. Eggs Benedict rocks! Hard to be consistent and pull it off every time, but they do! Keep up the great work.
Had an omelet here and I def was not disappointed. Great breakfast food/selections. Most of all I loved the service. Everyone was so nice and friendly. We were so pleasantly greeted when we got in. Highly recommend this place and I'm def going back again and again.
There would be 10 stars if I could. I've been coming here for years, and always order my food "my way". It ALWAYS comes out that way, incredible tasting fresh hot food. I always looks forward to their daily specials. The staff always seem like their having the best day of their life. Even when they're swamped. And it's worth the wait. Thanks so much for all that all of you do.
Whether breakfast or lunch, the food is high quality and so is their service. They roast their turkeys and then slice them thick for sandwiches. They make their own soups from scratch as well as their coleslaw, chili and potato salad. I tasted them all and they were out of this world! And they make the best non-greasy onion rings I have ever tasted. We live on the East Bay, a 20 mile drive but well worth the trek. They are open daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. We have not been there on a weekend yet but understand they have a special menu on Saturday and Sunday, including eggs Benedict and crab Benedict from scratch. And yes the building's look is a throwback to the Frank Sinatra Dean Martin days plus it is immaculately clean inside and out.
Wonderful staff. Greated politely at the door by a gentleman behind a counter saying no tables are available but one will be shortly. Put us in a booth for 4 and brought over a booster chair for the little one. Server equally as kind, helping us not over order and bringing juice for the little one in a sippy cup. And when we left, we got goodbyes from multiple staff members. The dinner itself is cute and the food normal (in a good way). The egg is an egg. The bacon is bacon. Nothing fancy.
Good food, good service, fair prices. Everything was delicious! Their coleslaw and potato salad is so good we took two orders of each home. We're going to make some sandwiches for dinner to have along with the potato salad and coleslaw. What a perfect summer dinner. By the way the omelette house is open every day from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 364 days a year. I think they're closed on Christmas Day. The food is very good all the people that work there are above and beyond what you would expect in a little coffee shop. It really reminded me of a throwback to the 50s and 60s very charming and very comforting.
Classic greasy diner. Great selection. Pretty considerate pricing and friendly staff.
Food was amazing best omelette.. prices to be expected with today's market. but the size of the plate makes it worth it! Even my husband had food left over! Very homey vibe server was great. Would go again !
We were here again enjoying our family time. As always everything was excellent. Vivi our server with her super skills and articulate with her warm smile and lenguaje skills. Thank you Vivi and the omelette house team for your service !!!
Great food, wonderful and friendly staff, best place for breakfast or lunch, I can’t complain about anything I’ve eaten so good!!!!!!!
An appropriately busy neighborhood diner. Servers were great. Food was excellent, and the coffee kept coming!
Great lil breakfast place. Good portions, fresh ingredients and lots of options.
Food was great, served hot and perfectly cooked. Clean restaurant with a great vibe. Cherry on top, everyone that works there has a fantastically unique personality. This was the most enjoyable breakfast outing I've ever had.
Great cheap breakfast spot, the staff are great and the food is good. The food was so cheap I ordered a waffle in addition to my French toast. They have a nice little bar for single individuals. The only thing I would change is their French toast uses regular bread. Maybe I had to ask for large Texas toast, which I prefer.

This is the kinda place where everyone knows each other and the staff become familiar faces which is very nice! The food is good it’s basic breakfast foods and made very plain. They do offer all different toppings like Cholula, Tabasco and others to help those that need more flavor! For me I needed salt and pepper lots! I’m thinking it’s because the majority of people are older that go to this restaurant. That’s fine with me I rather add then It be too salty! Moved back home after 20 years from the south where breakfast and brunch is big; lots of flavor, big portions and just plain delicious but Cali is good is healthier. Reason a 4 over all and 3 for food- very plain tasting, Orange Juice is not fresh and overpriced for concentrated juice that is fake OJ. The French toast is too eggy! Bacon is not crispy! Potatoes could be crispier too. Would I come back? Maybe the staff was super awesome and the place is comfortable. Honestly I love making my own breakfast since I’m so picky! I still ate real good and enjoyed my time :)
Such a nice breakfast place!

Great little diner style. Service was excellent. Very attentive. Would definitely come back.
A perfect breakfast place. We loved the huevos rancheros and their creative list of 40+ omelettes. Even their hash browns were notable tasty. Decor is indeed old-style, but that give this place a home-style feel
The food here is so good. I personally love the "Spanish Omlet", with "Country Potatoes". The staff is so nice and friendly. And the prices very reasonable for the Bay Area. I highly recommend it.
Opened a bit later than the advertised hours. Service was excellent. Spanish omelette good, though the use of sliced american cheese was not appreciated. French toast very tasty and coffee plentiful. Hot and quite good.
Cozy breakfast joint that looks like it’s from another century. Great service. Huge menu of omelettes with any and every kind of cheese and vegetable. It’s very laid back and no one is in a hurry. Prices are very reasonable and there’s plenty of easy parking.
Great tasting food. It always had a pretty good theme to it kinda felt like a warm home. Food always came out pretty well and staff was always smiling and talkative. Not too expensive either.
Food is what you expect. Servers were wonderful. Prices reasonable. The place is loud, though.
Great biscuits and gravy if you're there on the weekend. Nice staff and a cozy, retro-diner feel. Ask about updated pricing, though.
This small breakfast and lunch diner is filled with the nicest staff. Always warm and welcoming. With a great variety of omelets and a wide selection of breakfast and lunch choices, it's hard not to find just what you're craving. I will say that the scrambled eggs are not the best I've eaten, but the pancakes will keep you full for hours. The regular French toast is delicious. Powdered sugar, fruit with whipped cream, or syrup. They all tasted great. I highly recommend this place, and it's very family oriented.

Giving TOH (The Omelets House) a 3-star may not be fair. But when you see a 4.6 star on Google Maps, there's a certain expectation that was set. TOH skirts slightly above IHOP or Denny's in terms of quality and price. Definitely not a mid or high-end breakfast joint. It absolutely serves the local community well and the service is wonderful. But this is a food review after all. The hot chocolate is just Swiss Miss. Pancakes are decently fluffy. Fruits and French Toast was dry. Waffles were well made, crispy but had less "weight" and substance. Eggs and sausages were of Denny's grade. Quite frankly, as a stand-alone local breakfast joint, I really wanted TOH to be more than this. I get it that at such a price point, only certain quality is possible. But really... TOH has potential. Just with a small investment in ingredients upgrade, it should be able to absolutely hit the sweet spot of local brunch spot that caters to everyday neighbors while patrons feeling proud of what they eat. And yes, I do think it can raise the prices to get there, gently. However, just a local brand of IHOP just simply leaves me wanting more.

For a place with that name, we expected an incredible breakfast. It was mediocre at best. Don't even get me started on the home fries. Never had any that bad! Service was fair.
Typical breakfast joint almost 50's stylish theme going but not in a good way. Food ok service nice but overwhelmed. Little expensive added $1,95 to have egg whites instead of eggs. $28 for 2 breakfast plates and 1 beverage.
The food here is basic but nice - omelettes (funnily enough), milkshakes, you get the idea. A nice diner environment, and reasonably priced. I really enjoyed my first visit a year ago, but this time found the waitress to be a bit rude and abrupt; it seemed like my request for an itemized receipt (I need it to claim expenses back from work) was particularly upsetting to her. I was told that she needed it to keep it, and that I could take a photo of it. I had to insist she write out a new one for me, but I left feeling like I had done something wrong. It didn't help that I was told banana milkshakes were available, only to later be informed that I couldn't have one because the bananas weren't ripe enough!
Meh. One cup was chipped and well worn. Another was dirty with something fibrous clinging to side. “Fruit” consisted of two types of melon (I don’t care for melon) and a single dark piece of pineapple. The omelette was descent and the food came quickly. The staff was nice. The seat was lumpy. Good reading light. The interior was in dire need of a remodel. Expected a little more for the price when there’s a lot of options out there.
The food was alright but it was bland in my opinion and the portions were smaller than I was expecting.
service is good. nostalgic vibes. the only thing i am not satisfiying is the taste. i ordered san mateo joes with beef onion bellpepper (i forgot the name exactly),it tastes quite plain. when living in south bay, usually i go to uncle johns pancake house for brunch. there food is better so there is always a long line waiting there during weekends. TOH is a good place ,price is more affordable. but if the food taste is improved,i think it would be perfect.
It was ok. Nothing exciting. The hash browns, despite being crispy, were basically mush. The pancakes were good! We probably won't be back.

Please DON'T EVER EAT HERE if you have kids. I just had a confrontation in front of the whole restaurant with the manager. I came in with My one year old after baby gym because it's right across the street. He is one of the best babies at a restaurant, very quiet and friendly. We ordered food and I gave My son a snack to tide him over until his pancakes arrived. He was quiet but dropped some food on the floor, as babies do. The manager ran over and began picking up the food from the floor so I told him I was sorry and would pick it up before I left. He then said, "well, most parents don't let their kids drop food on the floor and you will just step on it and make it worse." I asked him if he had babies come in since they have high chairs and he again said yeah but they don't drop food. I told him that couldn't possibly be true and that he was being very rude so I would like him to cancel my order and bring me the check. He said fine and walked away. He then walked by and I told him I was going to write a nasty yelp review about him and he said fine. I then said loudly, "wow, you are so rude" and he told be not to be defensive and make a scene. I then asked if he had kids and he said he has God kids, so I said, "so you don't have kids and you don't understand how babies work." He again told me no one else's child drops food. So, I informed him that I've been in much nicer restaurants that have never said a word to me about My son and grabbed my stuff and walked out. The waitress apologized to me on my way out and the whole restaurant was watching our interaction. So, this place is not family friendly and the manager is incredibly rude. I feel sorry for the staff that has to deal with him.
The crab was rotten. They cooked it to serve it. Waitress asked, you didn't like it? No, I don't like bad food. Very fishy taste, salty, cheap crab. We used to like this place. Won't go back. Still cost me $9.
