Stopped for a quick bite on our way to Long Beach from San Diego. I picked this place because it had a good rating but I didn’t have my hopes too high as our Mexican food in San Diego is so good. This is some authentic, filled with love chicken. We got an assortment of quesadillas and I don’t know which one I like the most. The chicken is cooked on a grill in the middle of the dining room so there is no hiding what they are doing. This is a nice mom and pop type place where they probably spend too much time and too much effort on their food, and we are the benefactors of that. The chicken was full of flavor and juicy, not slathered with a bunch of sauces to mask what it really is, just good chicken cooked right. The cheese and tortillas were awesome. The Carne Asada quesadilla was just as good, you could really taste the quality of the meat as there are only three ingredients. The place was clean and everybody was friendly, and I especially like how they cook the chicken in front of you. The only criticism I would have is I don’t get the salad thing. It seems a lot of places in OC/LA like to put lettuce either next to or in the food. San Diego doesn’t have time for lettuce in Mexican food. The guacamole was placed on the lettuce which makes it very difficult to enjoy the guacamole on your quesadilla without having a bunch of lettuce mixed in. Next time I will remember to ask for no lettuce. Overall this is a great experience and we will look forward to stopping in on our next trip.

TOP RESTAURANT in ave pico san clemente area. The chicken here is unbeatable so far. No lathering of bbq sauce or obnoxious flavors. Straight fire chicken bathed in garlic and lime, along with the jalapeno sauce or Chile de arbol, if your in time get the posole, if your a salad person get a bowl, with the shrimp, so many delicious options, definitely a MUST STOP at san Clemente. The owners Joan and Karen take pride in there small restaurant and its noticeable. Great job surfin chicken.

Definitely check this place out! It’s family owned with amazing quality/taste and reasonable prices. The atmosphere is very quaint and homey and the food is grilled right in front of you. Came here randomly on my way home from work and would definitely come back again!

Surfin Chicken is a new chain in Reno. They are quality chicken comfort food at a value price. Very reasonable in these times where many others are jacking up prices. The people there were professional and friendly. The loaded fries options are great. I got the spicy chicken sandwich meal and upgraded to the cheesey ranch fries they didn't disappoint. If you haven't tried Surfin Chicken yet, I recommend it!

Amazing food with a ton of menu variety. Staff was great and very friendly. Just decided to check this place out, sadly it’s a little hidden but definitely worth the visit. As you can see we absolutely demolished the food 10/10 would eat again.

We were treated so kindly, and the owners kept the place immaculate. And the food was hot and fresh and yummy. Parents know how it's a huge plus when you find a place that your child enjoys because their tastebuds are very critical of what tastes good, and this establishment received an A+ from our kido. Absolutely incredible. The food tasted amazing and the prices were great. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this to everyone! My family cannot wait to visit again! We all tried different dishes and there wasn’t a single dish that wasn’t fantastic!

I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in San Clemente because most of it doesn’t come close to the classic San Diego taste. I found this by accident when looking at new places I wanted to try in San Clemente and I as very satisfied with the food and atmosphere. As a local for over 10 years I would say this is the top 2 places in San Clemente I would go and the price is actually reasonable and not outrageous. 10/10 would recommend

My friend got the chicken and was pleased with it. I got the mahi tacos, the topping salad was good but the fish was extremely overcooked. Chips were stale, salsa was ok.

I wanted to love this place... I ordered the chicken plate... The chicken was overcooked and dry... Super sad when this is a chicken place. The flavor was good. No crispy skin. Honestly el pollo loco chicken is far better sadly. It's equally as flavorful, but el pollo loco is not dry and crispy skin. Their potato salad was bomb along with the guac. So I'll do sides here and bring el pollo loco chicken. I'll maybe give them 1 more try on the chicken and change the review if it's better the 2nd time. Update: 2nd visit was the same. Very overcooked and dry. Sadly this will be my last time I eat here.

My expectations were too high normally when ordering a fish taco it’s full with fish, cabbage, tomatoes and flavorful salsa. What I received was tortillas with very little food inside the taco and whatever was inside was too salty to consume. I ordered a side of chips and guacamole every single chip was dipped in salt individually.
