If we wouldn't have had to wait 45 minutes when we made a reservation it would have been 10 stars. The short rib lasagna was incredible. Wife loved her pasta.

This was my first time coming to Alexanders on their infamous Tuesday night. Not only was the food amazing but the service was impeccable. I will definitely be returning. Thank you to Alex and Oliver for making me feel at home ❤️

We came here to see what the hype was about this place’s $8 pasta & movie night, or even the vibe this place gets as it’s one of the most popular and well known Italian spots in North Park… First of all, GOOD LUCK getting a reservation here! AO30 depending on the night and dining time is booked up to 3 months in advance! We decided to try our luck as a walk-in party of 3 right after they opened. Thankfully, we were 3rd in line upon opening and got a nice corner table in their outdoor patio next to a heater. LOVES: Baked Vodka Bolonese, house bread, service (Riley was our waiter), $5 house Cabernet, Tuesday night Pasta menu, Tiramisu, and restaurant’s ambiance. LIKES: Lemon Riccota Créma, Caprese salad, and minestrone soup DISLIKES: Reservation difficulty, parking difficulty, restroom could be cleaner, toilet seat doesn’t stay up (meaning men will use it standing w/ seat down), and restaurant is too big for one unisex restroom. Even if you come for their Tuesday $8 movie and pasta night, they still offer their full dinner menu if desired. Food and service was excellent! During the winter, an indoor table would be preferred despite how beautiful the patio was, but you’d probably need a coveted reservation for an indoor table. Can’t wait to come back…

Alexander's on 30th is easily one of the standout Italian restaurants in San Diego, deserving of a full five stars for its exceptional blend of ambiance, service, and cuisine. From the moment you walk in, the romantic lighting and cozy vibe set the perfect tone for any occasion, whether it’s a date night, celebration, or a relaxed dinner with friends. Ambiance and ServiceThe staff at Alexander’s truly goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcome and cared for. Servers are consistently gracious, attentive, and ready with spot-on recommendations, which greatly enhances the dining experience. The patio offers a beautiful setting to enjoy San Diego’s excellent weather, making it a must for anyone visiting. Food menu is loaded with crowd-pleasers. Favorites include the Baked Vodka Bolognese, Lemon Ricotta Crema, and Theodore’s Fix Pizza—each dish arrives fresh, flavorful, and in generous portions. The pasta is perfectly al dente, the sauces are rich and flavorful. Alexander’s is an all-around great spot for making memories, from a surprise birthday dessert to detailed attention from the servers that makes each visit feel special . It’s clear why this spot is considered a neighborhood gem and remains a top recommendation in North Park and all of San Diego.

The food was incredible, and well priced, the service was very friendly and professional. I had the filet mignon and it was out of this world. Also would definitely recommend the tiramisu. Absolutely will be coming back!

Alexander's gets five stars for keeping it simple. It's a quiet cozy place to enjoy house made Italian food.

I absolutely love Alexander's! The food and service are always simply amazing, and I'm so in love with their patio seating. It's simply gorgeous and a whole vibe of its own. We've been several times now and haven't had one dish we didn't enjoy. The parking is limited, so arrive early in order to find a spot and definitely make a reservation!

Absolutely great spot for all evening occasions. Really amazing ambiance with fun music that is loud enough to not have to have quiet convo. The service was amazing because you don’t feel rushed at all, yet you have very attentive staff. Our server Matthew was amazing. From wine to apps to entrees and dessert, he gave us the top options to consider and absolutely nothing disappointed. We started with the garlic bread and melted Brie cheese + curated meat board, accompanied by the Alexander’s Spicy Caesar salad. For entrees we had the special bone-in pork shank over risotto and the baked vodka bolognese. And topped it off with the cookie ice cream dessert. Portions are huge we literally took home half of everything I just listed so guess we have lunch or dinner a second night! Will return with friends next time!

Excellent place for a quite upscale dinner. Great service with an indoor and outdoor patio area seating. The pizza, the salads, and the appetizers are all very well done with first rate ingredients. The entrees are a bit more hit or miss. I would definitely avoid the pink penne pasta and the canalloni, very bland. Parking is a bit difficult so you will want to arrive early.

Superb food and service. Lobster ravioli, old fashioned spaghetti and meatballs, baked spaghetti and linguini Kathleen pasta. Fabulous bread! Great wine. Waiter was extremely awesome. Bill came with rose petals on it. Too cute. Just a great time

Nice and pleasant experience. I am really picky when it comes to Italian restaurants and am usually less than satisfied with the food quality. This place has great food and atmosphere. The music was a little too loud making conversation difficult but other than that, it was great!

Great for a date night. Service Great service here. Our waiter was invisible but always available. Not in a super power way. You know what I mean. He was human. Atmosphere This is where Alexander’s on 30th shines. My favorite person has been wanting to go here since before we met, so I was excited to spend our anniversary dinner here. There are beautiful white lights outside that feel a bit magical and the inside is dimly lit and romantic. One of those quiet, easygoing places that make the hours of the evening melt away. Food We got the baked Hampton stuffed mushrooms, the pink penne pasta, and a pizza with lots of cheese, sausage, and spinach on it. The mushrooms were good, but not my favorite part of the meal. The pizza and the pasta were great. If I had to nitpick, I wished that the pasta was fresh pasta, but that’s okay. Recommend? Definitely. I’d go back, at the very least for the ✨vibes✨

Nice decor and the backyard is a plus for this place. The food overall was high quality although not the best Italian food I have tried. The walnut Gorgonzola with rigatoni was too rich for my taste. The meatballs were great. The bread was really good too and the bruschetta were my favorites together with the artichoke appetizer. Definitely will recommend to go, and for me personally will focus on other dishes.

This Italian restaurant in North Park is very popular, and for good reason—reservations are definitely required. The atmosphere is lively yet polished, with a great mix of counter bar seating, indoor tables, patio seating, and even semi-private booth options that are perfect for a relaxed dinner. They offer a significant and worthwhile deal on Tuesday nights, which makes it even more appealing. The penne dish was especially good, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Overall, a solid spot for both casual and special nights out.

We came in on a Thursday night for my birthday. The service/staff was phenomenal- very attentive throughout the night. The atmosphere was alright. It’s nice inside, but it was very loud. I had to shout over the table to talk to my partner. The food was so-so. I really enjoyed the free appetizer bread- it was soft on the inside with a crisp on the outside, which also seemed to have a garlic butter on it. It didn’t cut up the inside of my mouth like some other restaurants’ breads do, and absorbed the olive oil and balsamic well. The brie with jam, an ordered app, was good. It comes with a garlic confit. The wine selection is great. It ranges from Europe, New Zealand, and California. The mains were disappointing. I got the seafood linguini. The pasta was thick, reminding me of a lo mein noodle rather than linguini. The meal itself was large and rather heavy. While I did appreciate the portion size, it felt like I was eating a pound of butter, similar to how I would feel eating a pasta at Olive Garden. There was nothing to cut through the heaviness of the butter. My partner and I both left the table with 75% of our food packaged in a takeaway container (which the staff does for you, which is nice). I would only return for a wine and apps, but not dinner.

It was very discouraging to see that this restaurant already had a line outside before they even open. And the parking situation is pretty bad. They have about 4 parking spots and 2 handicaps and it’s almost impossible to find parking. They don’t have any system about the waiting lines, and they seem pretty unorganized. People waiting in line are very rude, so I would highly suggest for them to fix this issue that’s creating people to get upset over their spots in “line” Our server (I can’t remember if his name was Kyle or Tyler) went above and beyond!! He was very attentive and very sweet!! The food was really good! The beets salad was very very good!!! The pasta definitely needed a little more condiments I found myself needing some salt and pepper. Overall, I think this place is nice and I will definitely come back! I would just go on a Wednesday or another day, Tuesdays are very busy!!

I came here to celebrate my 12 year anniversary with my wife and found my pasta to be completely lacking in flavor. It tasted like noodles covered in olive oil and not anything else. The pizza, however, was delicious and the service and atmosphere was good. Definitely better options around town

This place is just not that good at all. Parking is bad, service is bad, they are slow, and the food is just edible. Food really wasn't better than what I could have got from the freezer section in Albertsons. I had the baked Cannelloni and it was ok. I had some of my girlfriends margarita pizza and it was probably the worst margarita pizza I have ever had. Completely bland and covered in chopped basil. Not sure how you screw up that pizza when it only has a few ingredients. If an Italian restaurant can't make a simple margarita pizza, you can find better elsewhere and for cheaper too. Trust me on this. Didn't try the dessert because.... why would I?

Was served frozen pumpkin pie… So I came here and ate their Thanksgiving 3-course meal ($75/person). For paying that much I expected much better. First course was a decent cesar salad, second course was good but a small portion, but the worst was the dessert. I had the pumpkin pie which tasted bad and we found out it was store bought FROZEN pie!! Not only was it frozen, they also gave an extremely small slice of it! Very disappointing meal for $75.

The ambiance at Alexanders is definitely cool and inviting, and the appetizers were the highlight of our meal. We ordered the garlic bread with baked brie and fig jam, pesto, and bruschetta – all of which were tasty and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t live up to the start. The main course was underwhelming; the pesto pasta and build-your-own pizzas with bianco and marinara sauces lacked flavor and creativity. Desserts were also below average. And for the price you are paying, there are many other better places in San Diego. Overall, Alexanders feels like a generic, Americanized Italian spot – fine for a casual visit, but not one I’d rush back to.

Underwhelming and disappointing experience to say the least. Had a 5:00pm reservation for 5 on a Saturday. We were the first guests of the night when we had arrived. Our server did not even greet us, just began with “are we ready to order drinks?”. Bread and salad were decent. I ordered The White Room pizza and would not recommend. It was lacking flavor and had far too much spinach on top. We were never even offered parmesan cheese for the tables pastas but the tables around us were! Tiramisu was served half frozen? A bit odd. When we were given the check, we were told it could only be split onto 3 cards. No military discount could be applied either. AND our party of 5 was charged automatic 20% gratuity. Industry standard is parties of 6 or more. We were never told about this nor was it stated when we made the reservation. Our server also told us the automatic gratuity was because it was a weekend. I have never been up-charged for eating out on a Saturday. Disappointing experience overall.

Very strange , changed their recipe for many things hut didn’t notify me when i was ordering lobster ravioli it isn’t lobster. Manage seemed to be helping at first before abruptly hanging up and not answering my call back. I use to love this place but the recipes and service has gone downhill. I dnt plan on returning you shouldnt either
