Opinions de Bock San Diego
Great addition to the neighborhood! Bock is a cozy, European style beer hall offering delicious European and American beers. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and they do fun events like trivia night. We tried the pretzel with beer cheese and mustard which was delicious and went great with the beers. Their whole menu looks great and I can’t wait to try more!
Bock is a great experience. Technically, you can go during Oktoberfest season, but this is the kind of German-themed beer hall that it'll pretty much feel like that all year. There just might be less märzens and festbeirs to choose on the menu. That menu, BTW? Chock full of curated domestics and imports that all scratch hard at that Bavarian beer style. Half the beers, domestic, and a good enough chunk, pretty local. The other half? Just imported stuff from breweries that have been around for 400+ years. So, nothing special there. Just beers that have literally defined certain styles and have gone way beyond standing the test of time. Plenty of German food on the menu, too. Don't you hate showing up German-themed beer bars or brewpubs, and the most German thing they have on the menu is a pretzel along with a full menu of salads, burgers, pizzas, quesidillas and other standard pub fare? Not this place. Expect schnitzel, sausages, and some 'kebab culture' food items like falafel. Service here was extremely friendly and welcoming. They also had some kind of amazing Happy Hour deal, like $4 off full liter pours. If you're the designated driver, maybe just stick with the half-liter pour, which was also Happy Hour discounted.
This place is an instant neighborhood classic! Great service and atmosphere to have a drink and meet with friends. Huge selection of rotating beers from all over. They also have a decent selection of table games and a pool table and shuffle board. The food is okay... the brats and sausages are good but the rest is just mediocre in my opinion.
Great beer selection and they throw events like Krampus Nacht. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Overall a great bar to share a beer for a date night or with friends.
Great place to grab a pint! They have 32 beers on draft and a well rounded selection. The service was friendly and the crowd was mellow! I didn’t try the food so I can’t comment on that other than you can get food if you’re hungry!
Super chill German bar in the South Park neighborhood of San Diego. The interior is beautifully designed. Lots of nice little detail. Perfect lighting. Beer choice is spectacular. A cool mix of Old school European beer with California beers. The wine selection is top notch as well. The prices are about average for the area. The food came out quick and was very tasty. The service is always friendly and efficient. My only complaint is that the music has always been just a tad too loud. A great addition to a great neighborhood. Really has the local gathering place feel to it.
Excellent selection of German beer! The staff is knowledgeable, the vibe is intimate and cozy, they have a pool table and food available at Biersal (around the corner but attached)
European beer bar concept, focused on German lagers, Belgian sours, and the American versions of these styles with a few hoppy beers mixed in. Over 30 taps, all seemingly hand-picked and very rare within the U.S., some of which I wouldn’t expect to make the trip across the ocean. Expensive but that’s to be expected with the unique options available. $9 for a .3L of Schlenkera Erle is pretty reasonable all things considered. Also a stellar wine list with a focus on regions from which the beers originate. The food menu from the kitchen around the corner from the bar is seriously good. Well-priced and some generous portions. Can’t go wrong with any choice, everything we had was delicious. Overall, a special experience and worth the trek. Busy for their first weekend and I’m sure they’ll stay busy, even in a challenging environment.
This place is well worth the hype. The beer selection is over the top. Something for everyone. The service is astounding. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Now let's talk about the food. Stellar. My partner said it was the best German they'd had outside of Germany. High praise! We'll be back, plenty and often.
Soon to be the GOAT of German Pubs on 30th - a delightful spot, with chill beers and a cozy pub vibe! Also, crazy awesome hiking snacks!!

I love this new bar. They have a great selection of German/Old World beer and domestics on tap. The German inspired kitchen serves up some awesome food. The atmosphere is lively but not obnoxiously loud. I’m excited that a San Diego local has taken over this spot!
Dark but not dingy. Amazing beer bar for very curated European beer and some more modern american styles. The bamberger is to die for.
Bock, the new bar in South Park, is an absolute gem. As someone from Bavaria, I can say this place truly captures the essence of a German beer bar. The beer selection is top-notch, featuring rare Bavarian brews you’d typically only find back home. They also have an amazing wine selection, making it a great spot for more than just beer lovers. The food is just as impressive—perfectly executed bratwurst, pretzels, and schnitzel that taste authentic and delicious. The vibe is incredible—fun, welcoming, and full of energy. There are games to play, and the attention to detail is clear in every aspect of the bar. You can tell the owners put real thought into creating an authentic experience. Bock is a must-visit, and I can’t wait to make it a regular spot.
After Blair tossed a match and burned Hammilton's down (before fleeing the state), Bock was resurrected from the ashes. My first trip yesterday was a great time. Very clean lines and well appointed, we had a great experience. The schnitzel Sammy was large and delicious. I had 3 beers, all from clean lines, clean glassware and very tasty. 100% must visit.
Excellent bar, great selection of old world beers. I recommend their Kōlsch if available. The food is amazing, you get the German sausages, the sauerkraut with the meals, and they’re very well sized. The cheddar sausage is to die for, and the mustard? Incredible. Overall it’s a great find and place to come and have really good classic beers.
Excellent beer list, favoring German styles. Really nice to have a German specific beer bar. Watched the German ball drop at 3pm on New Years over a Kolsch and a smile on my face. It can get busy and seating is limited as it’s relatively small. Haven’t tried their food but aiming to get down on a Sunday for some Schnitzel.
One of the best bars in San Diego that offers the best of both worlds, European and American beer. You will always find something new on draft with over 30 taps, including many hard to find beers on regular rotation. Everyone behind the bar will make you feel like you’ve been coming here for years, even if it your first visit. Simply put, great people doing great things. Check ‘em out.
If Cheers had a distant German cousin it would be Bock. The perfect neighborhood bar where everyone knows your name (and your bier/wein!) It's always a vibe, from the friendly pool games to the stellar service. Definitely a must for any SD locals!
We went here per the recommendation of multiple brewery bartenders. This place was a highlight of our week. Not only was the beer selection excellent (half old world, half modern) the server AJ was one of the most knowledgeable servers we’ve ever had. She KNOWS beer. She gave us incredible recommendations and was so welcoming and fun. I can’t recommend this taproom enough, and if you are served by AJ, consider yourself lucky,

This place is awesome. The closest thing to German beer halls in San Diego. Huge plus: they're dog friendly inside, which is great on a hot day if you're out and about with your pup. The staff are fun and friendly, the beer list is exotic, and the food is delicious.
I got to check out this place on their grand opening night. There was a line to get in. We waited for about 15 min to get in and then there was a line to order beer. It was packed but their beer and food were worth the wait! 👍🏼 Bock has 35 + beers on tap and their kitchen serves up delicious German bites such as pretzels, bratwursts, schnitzel and much more. My absolute favorite is Chicken schnitzel sandwich. The chicken was fried to perfection…tender, crispy and full of flavor. I liked the bratwurst as well. The portion was good for a reasonable price. Last night was also an Underberg party. I wasn’t a huge fan when taking it as a shot but it’s awesome when it’s mixed with @mommenpop for a “Mommenberg”. 🍹It was sweet, refreshing and bubbly! I can’t wait to go back for more and grab a few 🍺
Fun German biergarten, good beer selection and they have boots. We partake in food but will the next time. Good neighborhood location.
I wish I could leave separate reviews for beer and food. We enjoyed 4 German beers which were superb! Bartender was a character and fun to chat with. Beer selection & quality is 5/5. Atmosphere is a perfectly chill beer-hall vibe. All the Barsmen I spoke with had delightful accents from across the pond. I will be here regularly. Now for the food…. Pretzel with beer cheese and mustard 2/5 *movie theatre quality pretzel w/ good mustard and mediocre beer cheese Potato salad 1.5/5 *no salt, celery overpowered the dish. If trying to compliment the German vibes, pickled-something would be better than celery filler. Food providers: Please please please give me incentive to change my review from a 4 to a 5!
As a longtime fan of Hamiltons, it’s a bit bittersweet to visit a bar that now stands on the charred remains of its legacy. But Bock quickly won me over. The atmosphere is lively, the bartenders are both friendly and knowledgeable, and the beer selection is impressive—especially for fans of Russian River (and yes, there's more than just Pliny!). The kitchen deserves props too. Service was quick and the food hit the spot. The pretzel and schnitzel were a hit at our booth. Whether you're there to geek on great beer or just unwind with friends, Bock delivers a fantastic experience that continues for decades.

GREAT beer selection! Awful food service. I will come back for the beers! but make sure you eat something beforehand. I had to cancel my food order after 2 hours of waiting.
Very cool German/Pub style spot new in South Park. Lots of cool areas in the near intersection you could possibly bar crawl to. Didn't have Guinness but did have beers similar to it. Tap in general is very diverse which I am a huge fan of. Food is also decent. Inside is bit of a struggle when it comes to finding seating, as its layout could honestly be better to seat more guests. Perhaps outdoor seating would ameliorate the situation. I had a very negative and recent experience being scolded at for cheering during a Yankees/Dodgers baseball game. This is a location similar sports bar right? Am I supposed to stay quiet if a team I want to win score? Quite confusing to say the last.
