Possibly the best veggie burger I've tried! Never tried a smashed veggie burger before but now I'm for sure going to have it more often. Comfortable seating, felt right at home. Lots of outdoor. My group of 7 had enough space to move around. There is indoor seating but it looked like only for singular/smaller groups of people. Service was excellent. We accidentally came right when it was closing at 8pm due to some confusion, but thankfully, when we asked, the server informed us that the closing time stated on Google is for delivery.

I went in a rush to catch a train, and the restaurant was still in the process of setting things up, there was only one lady working (food working and kitchen) but she was extremely nice and food came out faster than I expected. They really have one of the best burger in my opinion, the pickles are nice and the fries are crispy, and she put a lot of ketchup packets in my orders. The location is great if you are wandering around the Old Town area, definitely worth checking out.

Food was absolutely immaculate, so much flavor! We ate inside and the service was quick, the vibe was amazing. They had good music playing, the staff was very friendly, and the food was delicious! Go to spot for a good burger or some well loaded fries!

Lots of tables and a really good burger. The sweetness of the maple makes this unique. Their tots are delicious seasoned. The have beer and soft drinks and Mexican coke and Jarritos. They even had a sour (beer) on the menu yeah! If you don’t want to stand in a long lines for other restaurants, come here. You won’t be disappointed.

Came to Old Town craving tacos but ran into this place. The Smashbuger tacos just got smashed! Well done guys and great service Bree. Will definitely come back with La familia… I heard the owner is a pretty cool guy too ✌️

Bonehead Burger is a laid-back burger joint with both indoor and outdoor seating. They are dog-friendly if you’re dining outside! They are tucked away on an upper deck in Old Town San Diego. I discovered this place through a Groupon deal that included two Bonehead Burgers, two beers or wines, and two sides of fries or tater tots, all for around $30. Talk about value! The Bonehead Burger itself completely exceeded my expectations — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It’s clear they take pride in what they’re serving. But what really shocked me were the massive portions of sides. These weren’t your average handful of fries. I’m talking full baskets, enough to satisfy even the hungriest eaters. If you’re craving a hearty burger, cold beer, and a chill spot to hang out I highly recommend checking out Bonehead Burger. I’ll definitely be back!

My wife was craving a burger and so we looked up and found Bonehead burger and decided to give it a try. We ordered a bonehead burger and tater tots to share. This is easily one of the bet burgers I have had in a while. Everything was cooked perfectly and on top of that fresh. The burger had a unique flavor to it that stands out from other burger places. The tots were actually potato rounds and were cooked perfectly. They gave us so many, we couldn't finish them. Great food, great staff and good vibes. We will be back.

Wow! 🤯 🤩 We got a Groupon to try this place out & it blew our minds! One of the best burgers we’ve had in our lifetime- here’s why: 🍔 Crispy, deliciously cooked burger Fresh lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions Secret sauce Um- bacon!! 🥓 So so so yummy 😋 Tots & fries crispy, flavorful & amazing Atmosphere is top notch & has a dog friendly patio space that is open, airy & adorned with plants 🪴 Only thing we can think of to improve is they could offer paper cups & bulk ketchup/condiments to reduce waste.

My family and I visited San Diego yesterday and stopped in Old Town for a bite to eat. Burgers were something we could all agree on and landed at Bonehead Burgers. We loved that it had open-air seating, not too crowded, and a simple menu. Menus with dozens of options can be overwhelming, and the offerings here were just right! Additionally, we had a picky 7-year-old in tow, so 🙏 they had chicken nuggets. Our group ordered chicken wings, french fries, a Kenny B burger, a kids' meal chicken nuggets with fries, and a Bonehead burger. It's always a gamble when trying a new place, so fingers crossed we waited. To our surprise, relief, and delight, the food was amazing! Plates came out quickly, the food looked fresh and well-cooked, and the portions were huge! My husband and I are always searching for tasty french fries. These were off the chart. The combination of size, shape, seasoning, crispy outer, and tender inside was a chef's kiss 🤤 They were that good. The Bonehead burger was a hand-crafted beauty. Fresh seasoned, smash-style burger, loaded with lettuce, tomato, pickle, cheddar cheese, maple bacon, onion, and something called Bonehead sauce. I couldn't shovel it in my mouth fast enough, lol. We discovered mid-way through our visit that the gentleman working there was a one-man show that day. Ernie was handling the orders, cash register, drinks, cooking the food, and serving solo! How he was able to pull that off is amazing. A few more parties showed up, and he handled it all like a pro without ever breaking a sweat. He remained attentive, professional, and friendly. 😊 Suffice to say, Bonehead Burgers will be added to our list of favorite burger joints, and Ernie is our go-to guy for great food! What a great experience. Thank you for feeding our family 🥰

Great place to eat. The burgers were filling and decent sized. Seasoning and sauces were delicious. One thing to note: It said open to 3AM but they were closing down dinning and only do take out after 8pm. Decent seating was available with comfy chairs...loved the atmosphere. 10/10 would go again.

This is an amazing burger, but the real star are the fries and tots with the cheese xtra toppings!!! Wow! Fries are seasoned to perfection, not too salty or spicy. Crunchy and delicious with every bite! Do yourself a favor and stop here for an awesome burger, fries and a beer.

They said we were the first to order an impossible smash burger taco burger and likewise, my first smash burger taco and it exceeded my expectations! It gives you all the flavours that you want in a smash burger without the heaviness of a bun! And the price cannot be beat. It’s so easy to eat a bunch of these! I highly recommend trying them if you’re in old town!

Little pricey but the food was awesome would recommend had the bonehead burger and cheese tots but make sure you look at the menu for portion size lol

Absolutely delicious burger and tots. The service was amazing, everyone was so kind and appreciative of each and every customer. We had a big party and ever loved their meal, from the veggie burger to the chicken sandwich to the cheese tots, everything was amazing! Really liked the seasoning on the fries.

We were greeted and helped right away by Bri , she took care of us the whole way made sure we were good she had good music going it was a nice chill time , her service was honestly above and beyond which is not very common , we loved her . The food obviously was great we love a good burger that's why we keep coming back , we had fries/tots they are nicely seasoned and crispy and also buffalo wings . Theres plenty of seating area for either big and small crowds . Oh and they have draft beer 😁 anyways 10/10 for us

First of all, Blake (the owner) was friendly and inviting to us even though we came in an hour before closing. Chatted with him a reg a bit and made it feel like we were talking to a homie, which I dig. The Old Town Burger and the Hot Head Burger were SO GOOD, we downed them in minutes. I prefer my fries to be thicker but thats just my preference, regardless they were seasoned perfectly. I’ll be back for the Juneshine POG flavor on draft 🤓

My wife and I visited this place with Groupon deal. Fantastic burgers and great selection of beer on tap. Brie helped us today and she was so nice and made sure we got the best choices! Bonehead burger for the win! Best tots I’ve ever had period!!! Thank you Brie for helping us out and being so kind! We will return soon!

Came here during a daytime outing to old town. The place had a nice chill atmosphere, was able to hear my conversation with the person I was with, service was fast and friendly. Most importantly, however the smashers were cooked to perfection and tasted like a classic high quality burger while also being original. The fries absolutely banged.

Just stick to several items, but do them very well. Several of us ordered the Bonehead Burger, which was cooked very well. We also got a surprising huge order of their fries and tater tots, which were really tasty. Took a while for our food to come out, but good food takes time. And they might have been short-handed being a 3 day weekend and all. Will most likely comeback especially if I want a cheat meal .

Thin, smashed burgers with generous side portions. It's as basic as it can get. Friendly service. TVs available for sport game days and draft beers, too. We came on a random weekday night, and they were pretty slow/empty. I would think it'd be a nice hangout spot during the day.

Went in the afternoon on weekend. It was slow with one hostess/cashier/server that was busy talking to one customer or friend. Hamburger was fresh but smashburger was cooked to a crisp. Fry portions weee generous.
