My family had two restaurants in Philly when I was growing up. This is my favorite spot for cheesesteak subs in SD. You will not be disappointed.
My go to spot for cheese steaks locally. I had cheese steaks all across the US including Philly, NYC area which is where I'm from and Giirginos does it right. Their other heros are awesome as well and chicken tenders. All legit done right. Friendly staff, seating indoors or outdoors. Highly recommend
A small restaurant with a very long history of serving great cheese steak sandwiches and recently also American breakfast staples at reasonable prices. They have both indoor and outdoor tables and you can also sit at the bar. The decor shows its age, but the continuously arriving customers know better. The bell (bell pepper, grilled onions, and melted American white cheese) and Gaucho (chimichurri grilled mushrooms, and melted mozzarella cheese) beef steak sandwiches were really tasty, with tender beef strips in a good Amoroso roll. They were way better than the famous Philly cheese steak sandwiches from Geno’s. Also, the tater tots were so very good, too!
My boyfriend and I heard about this place because a local YouTuber reviewed it and had great things to say. We decided to check it out, and we were really glad we did! We split a mushroom cheesesteak with whiz because we weren’t very hungry, and it was so delicious. I also wanted to mention the service- the people running this business clearly put their hearts into it. We felt so welcome, and we really appreciated their kindness and excellent service. We will definitely be back. I want to try one with pepperoni next 😋 Edited to add: Hi Team G! The local YouTube channel we found you through is TheSandwichSnobs. The video was posted 3 days ago and the title is "Three Of The BEST Sandwiches - San Diego".
We were looking for a quick bite after a 5 hour drive from AZ to SanDiego, CA. Giorgio's was a 7 min walk from our Airbnb. They did not disappoint. We ordered an antipasto salad and a side of chicken fingers. Also two cherry colas. The chicken was really good. It was made to order and came out hot and crunchy. The salad was fresh and refreshing. The cherry soda the carry was delicious and I will be looking to buy more of it. Great place and the staff was friendly.
Authentic Philadelphia style cheese steak sandwiches in a low key setting in scenic Golden Hill. The steak was thinly sliced on a soft fresh bun with creamy melted cheese and caramelized onion. I added bell pepper to mine and the peppers were perfectly cooked, retaining their crispness and color. The sandwich was rounded out with a nice touch of black pepper. The sandwich was so fresh and delicious with a melt-in-your- mouth feel. Despite the ample size, it doesn't weigh you down. It really did remind me of the cheese steak sandwiches I got in Philadelphia several years ago. Very authentic. Counter service with tables indoors and out. Casual atmosphere. Lots of toppings available.
Been wanting to try this place and it delivered. Plenty of meat and creamy white American cheese and perfectly cooked onions. Best part is they season it with some salt and pepper. Went with the regular and the works which added grilled peppers and mushrooms. Also gave the Taylor ham and cheese and try and it was a rather good grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
If you’re looking for one of the best cheesesteaks in all of San Diego make an effort to visit Giorgino’s in South Park! You will not be disappointed and get cheese on your fries too if you want to be a true East coaster! Full disclosure, I am from the great city of Philadelphia and truly know my cheesesteaks. Trust me, this place is legit!
Not a bad spot. With few adjustments could be total bomb! Fries has a chance but needs to be reworked. Otherwise fries very plain. No twist to it. Very generic. Sandwiches too could use some “magic” otherwise kind of plain.
Solid philly cheesesteak the meat was seasoned good cheese ratio was good my only two complaints would be the delicious amoroso's roll was not toasted at all which is just a personal liking but the main thing that got a star removed was that I was watching like 8 other philly cheesesteaks come out and they all looked like they had more meat than mine It might have just been perception but I think it was 17 dollars and should have had more meat and the cheese fries were like 5.50 dollars and there wasn't that much fries I do not mind paying the money but dont skimp on the portions. The service was good And I know they are clean cause I saw the guy from the back come up and wash his hands like 3 or 4 times while I was just sitting there eating so that is always a plus. This definitely would have been my new spot if it was not for the portion size.
The bread was good. Besides that a major disappointment. Almost 12 dollars for a tiny basic fried egg sandwich ( with no side): literally 7 bites of sandwitch. I have to suggest a hard pass if you value affordability at all; your paying for the honor of eating in "Golden Hill" not the food quality. Waaaaay over priced.Major boo.
Not terrible, but not something I’d go out of my way for again. The sandwich looked good, but the flavor just didn’t hit. It needed more seasoning and just felt flat overall. Fries were basic. Nothing wrong with them, just kind of there. For twenty bucks with a drink, I expected more. Service was fast and the staff was friendly, so no complaints there. Just wish the food had that extra something to make it stand out.
The flavor of the sandwiches is fantastic. My problem is the lack of meat. I ordered the works and there were lots of vegetables and cheese in it but very little meat. And it's the meat you want to see in these sandwiches. So again flavor is great but not sure I'll go back again
Uh, no. I had high hopes but, unfortunately, knew as soon as I walked in. Not a Philly reference in site aside from multiple Amoroso signs. Which is where I'll start - I don't think these were Amoroso rolls or at least something had been done to them. The texture and taste were way off. The meat was tasteless. Minor but grilled onions and peppers are supposed to be in strips and not diced. I couldn't even finish it. I realize my Philly native expectations might be too high but this was bad. Also, it's Tournament time and they had the Food Network on the TV.
