Look for the red and black Board Head patio umbrellas. The name is above and on the door but written small and can get lost. I didn't know I was there until I was right on it. Reminds me of the Jewish delis in NYC. Got the special which on this day it was a mushroom swiss burger with fries and a drink. The fries were golden , crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. The burger was perfect. Service was great and I went back for ice cream which was refreshing on this perfectly warm day. Great and inexpensive place. Across the street was double and I didn't feel like paying $30-50 for lunch. Small seating area inside. They also have drinks in coolers; béer, water and soda aomg with a few items like a 7-11. But I recommend sitting outside if the weather is good. It's across the street from the bay and it's blocked by several cars but still a great view.
Had an absolutely delightful breakfast at Hazelwoods on the Bay this morning!Arriving right as they opened at 7,we were greeted with smiles. The cleanliness of the establishment was top notch,as was the customer service. There was everything you could think of that you might need for a day out on the water! You can tell that there was time and much thought used when putting together the selection of items available. I was very impressed. The food was delicious and made in a timely manner.Looking forward to visiting again!!!There is quite the extensive menu and I was told anything could be customized:)
Chriss greeted us as soon as we came through the door and offered sound advice in picking a sandwich, mentioning it was big enough to share, and she wasn't kidding. I ordered the Policemans Club and it was like something out of a cartoon. Triple decker stacked high with all the fixings. The last bite was as good as the first and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Well be returning when I'm in the area.
The food here is absolutely delicious. Either way they make it. Hot or cold, their food will satisfy your needs. Their sandwiches are probably some of the best. I love their roast beef sandwich. It’s amazing. Their fries are also crispy which I like. We started coming here because my uncle supplies the candy here. So we came for the first time almost 4 years ago. The staff are also very kind and get us whatever we need. The view from the restaurant is also beautiful which I enjoy. I love supporting small businesses and this is a place I will always come back to and support!
Right across the street from the water and docks. Fairly big sandwiches with the close to the ocean pricing, avg. $14 a sub. Quick service: People working there were nice. They had fountain drinks, a ton of bottled and canned drinks, as well as wine and beer. There was mainly outdoor seating and some nice views of the surrounding area.
Amazing place that has something for everyone. From sunscreen to wine. Food for price point is great. Ordered a pep pizza with extra cheese and a bacon cheeseburger. FF are very crispy. Only negative is that we tried to order from room for room delivery and there was some confusion so we ended up going down to grab as take out. Water bowl for pups and pup greats inside. So much more than what you see in the pictures; their breakfasts are good also and their coffee is a nice medium flavor with no bitter aftertaste.
“Oh my gosh” is the best way I can start it. First time in San Diego and stayed at the Wyndham, woke up early and wanted to grab a cup of coffee. Saw a sign in the elevator for this place so went… I grew up in a small town with this amazing little diner and this place took my mind right back there! The staff was friendly beyond description greeting me like a regular every morning. Ate a lunch and a dinner there too. Even hit them up for a late night snack which was the best banana split I ever had! The food was a 10 out of 10, the service was friendly, and the best way I can describe it is a cross between the best parts of a convenience store, small grocery store, and perfect diner all in one!!! Thank you and highly recommend!!!
I just want to say thank you to Lincoln for his wonderful customer service and excellent service and as I was eating my food I paid attention to him and how much of a hard worker he is , he takes on multiple tasks at one time and he is a very hard worker and I think he deserves more recognition, because I noticed how a few of his teammates kept talking to him and making it seem like he doesn't know anything, but from what I paid attention to with his work ethics was he goes above and beyond to make sure everything is in order, nice and clean and most importantly that the customers are satisfied and happy so they will keep coming back. Lincoln keep up all ur hard work and positive attitude. I hope you start getting the type of recognition you deserve , especially from your other teammates LINCOLN YOUR THE BEST , IM DEFINITELY GOING TO COME BACK AGAIN SOON BECAUSE OF YOUR WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ATTITUDE.
I did take out and the food was hot and ready quickly. Very casual atmosphere perfect for those waiting for their cruise ship or like me, want to take your food back to your room.
Probably by far one if the best little deli's around here. Hit up JT for some super good Bloody Mary's the chili cheese fries are awesome. Thier menu is also full of good stuff. Plus their house made Antipasta is to die for!!!!
Excellent selection of dishes, snacks and dessrts. The salads are big enough for two people to split and their prices are very reasonable.
Both the breakfasts and the lunches are to die for. When in San Diego, you must stop. Quaint little place on the bay.
Great hidden gem at the Wyndham Bay View Hotel. Wonderful selection of food and drinks for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Helpful and friendly staff too!
Our big group of 19 stopped in. Everyone was friendly, fast. The food was great. Great selection.
Awesome staff! So nice and respectful. Food was also really good! Recommend coming here!
We got a breakfast burrito & Turkey sandwich. Burrito was solid. Minor mishap on the sandwich. They took care of me no problem or issues. Thank You! Ps - nice views close to water. Highly recommend for casual meals.
I almost don’t want to post about how great this place is. Centrally located, great for all ages and dog friendly. Coffee? French toast? 99 bananas and a blunt wrap? They got you. Don’t forget a Boar’s Head grab and go charcuterie board or ube açaí bowl.
Lovely little food spot with a great view to people watch! Had some time to kill before boarding a cruise across the street so we grabbed brunch at this cute place. Their food was delicious with large portions. Iced coffee was refreshing. Only complain would be they do not have their own restroom, you have to share the neighbouring hotel’s restroom that you enter from the exterior at the side of the building.
What a fantastic spot! Hazelwoods on the Bay has that perfect homey, local deli vibe. The cashier had a genuinely vibrant and fun personality, making the ordering process a pleasure. My Officer Club sandwich was delicious, and I was so glad they had a gluten-free bread option. My wife’s Cobb salad with blue cheese dressing on the side was piled high and packed with fresh ingredients. The value is unbeatable—great portions for a great price. Plus, their grab-and-go selection of everything from alcohol, games, hygiene products, deli to go, and snacks is incredibly convenient. We'll be back soon!
Fantastic, genuinely friendly service!! I have been for dinner and breakfast and both times all of the staff have been so positive. The food is great and, the best tea bar I have ever seen. If you like tea and are tired of being a "Lipton after thought" at most places, be sure to come and enjoy their selection!!
Hazelwoods is about a five minute walk from the USS Midway Museum and is worth the stop. It's not fancy, it's a basic deli with extras like cold bottled beer and drinks in the fridge. The woman at the counter was so friendly and helped us decide on which pastrami sandwich to pick, they have two. Went with the deli melt as she recommended it. They have a vegetarian hoagie called the harbor lites and it was amazing with roasted egglplant and lots of sprouts. Sandwiches come with a slice of kosher pickle. Side salad was quite good and everything was very fresh and made when ordered. Affordable and highly recommended.
I came along with my colleagues as we fancied some breakfast, and as such I came in not knowing what to expect. However, it’s safe to say I left very satisfied and VERY full after having my very tasty and filling bayside breakfast and cafe latte! You got so much on the plate and everything was to my satisfaction. The lady at the till was also very friendly and made me feel at home. We sat outside under one of the umbrellas, which made for an ideal atmosphere to just talk, eat and breathe in the sea air. Overall a great experience and will definitely come back in the future.
Super convenient little cafe. We are staying at the Wyndham so it was very convenient for a quick bite to eat after a long day at the beach. The sandwiches were very good size, the fries were super yummy and the banana slit was jumbo size!! Very friendly staff and quick service. Outside eating area that was not crowded and nice for watching the bay. Definitely recommend!!
This spot has a little bit of everything. A great deli, some convenience store amenities, high quality grab and go food items. I ordered the chicken Ceasar wrap, add bacon. It was VERY good. Good portion, good quality, it came out quickly and the staff is always nice and helpful.
A nice smaller restaurant with great service and a wide selection of food. They give you large portions. The food is very tasty and the staff is quite friendly. You can choose to sit inside or outside. It’s great to have that choice. I will be happy to come back here!
I came in this morning starving unsure what to expect. I was a bit jumpy and rude. I apologize and feel greatly sorry for that which reminded me that customers can. Be the cause of their own bad service. At this location, what surprise me was that they’re eagerness to turn upside down frown into a smile. Food was delicious. Service was impeccable. Location was extremely clean also fair price.

Tha sandwiches we had were excellent. Portions were ample and we could have split a sandwich and still had enough had I not been considering an omlet. Lots of choices in each category. If you want something more than fast food but dont have time for a sit-down meal w/waitstaff, this is a great stop. Wonderful view of the bay at outside tables was a huge plus!
Don’t let this place foul you. Looks like a convenience store with picnic tables. Go inside and check out their diverse menu. Fresh and delish. I love this place. View of port is wonderful. Staff is amazing and friendly.
There's hardly anything more I can say that hasn't been said already about how good this place is. The food is hot, good, filling, and pretty fast. Even when during a busy period. It's a great option when staying at the Wyndham hotel next door that doesn't offer any breakfast. You do get a 10% discount if staying there and delivery. My wife and I had 2 breakfasts and one dinner. All was plenty of food. They promote using Boar's Head deli meats. Which was PILED HIGH on my Big Rich sandwich. The other items offered in the other portion of the store put any other convenient store to shame. If they didn't have it, you don't need it. From a phone charge cord and bulk sweets to soda and alcoholic drinks. Everywhere was clean and well cared for. The durable metal chairs, wooden tables, brick outside patio, and awnings outside. With nice views of the bay. We never sat inside, but it was also clean and in very good condition. As was the counter area and what I could see of the food prep area. The best thing is the people that work there. Everything mentioned is because of them and reflects on the ownership to employ these people. They are extremely helpful with anything you may have a question about as a visitor to San Diego. If one person doesn't know, they'll find out from some other employee. Great ambassadors for the city.
The best is not always but sometimes Hazel's has focused or iconic coop people that coralate to food most my experience is outside not the inside table. Speaking of which FoM is my hero but midway, can a family or even individual get her adopted to their house. She sleeps by first concert table directly across path from left edge of midway. A adamant train campfire feminist that socialist pride beams to help kids and the knowledge genius she has. Melissa FOM is trustable, help.
Awesome experience! They accidentally got our pizza order wrong so they made us a new one quickly and fully refunded us. Chris was such a sweetheart and it's no wonder she's celebrating 30 years in business! We can't wait to return tomorrow!
We ate here a few times, at different times of the day, ordering different items, and encountering several employees. The food was always good and the staff always pleasant. Service was quick. They have a beautiful place to eat outside under covered tables with a view of the bay. I definitely want to go back if I'm in San Diego again.
Spending the night prior to our cruise and decided to visit Hazelwoods for dinner. The sandwiches were very good, the staff was cheerful and helpful, and they allowed us to sit at a table and play some cards to kill time. Awesome experience. We’ll be back!
EAT HERE!!! Tonight we ate dinner here, there was a two hour wait at most of the other restaurants around us. We're sitting outside mostly alone, it's quiet, there is music in the distance, it is very pleasant out here. I got a delicious chef salad, lots of fresh ham and cheese and vegetables, the Boss got an Italian sub. He said it was great. I think we're so smart, not having to subject ourselves to the masses and the crowds

Nice place with sidewalk seating. Not a fancy place but it certainly caters to be get your food and in an out crowd. The prices are really reasonable considering that it’s on the San Diego waterfront. Staff is friendly and accommodating and seem to appreciate that you’re their customer. Food served on Styrofoam plates with plastic forks and knives, but who cares. If you’re sitting outside you have a pretty good view of the waterfront right across the street. They have quite an assortment of things other than food items. And a pretty decent selection of jelly bellies.

Nice little breakfast/deli spot right in front of the water near the Maritime Museum. Typical breakfast sandwiches in a very casual and low key setting. There are tables both inside and out with plenty of seating. Food came up fast and was good. Decent coffee, as well.

Ordered the breakfast deluxe bagel, potatoes, and a smoothie. The ingredients in the bagel were all low quality… cheap white bagel, American cheese, thin processed sausage patty, and potentially powdered eggs. The smoothie did not taste like real fruit and most definitely had some syrup or added sugar in it. Tasted like candy. Nice place for maybe a hot dog or something simple to sit outside but be sure to expect McDonald’s quality for the breakfast. It was also quite expensive for what I got… $24 for everything.
This place is about convenience. It offers basic breakfast and lunch to order, has a refrigerated section with a large variety of soft drinks as well as beer and low end wines, freezer section with ice cream and other frozen treats, a large assortment of chips and snacks, and a small section with toiletries for tourists who may have forgotten to pack something. There is a nice outdoor patio dining area with picnic tables and plenty of shade overlooking the harbor. There are also tables in a comfortable indoor dining area. So there's nothing gourmet here. It's just a basic deli where you can get a hot breakfast or deli sandwich. For what you get, it's pricey, but you're paying for convenience and location. It's nice to have a place like this in the neighborhood. Service is a bit gruff. My breakfast bagel was actually very soft and fresh and came with scrambled eggs and American cheese. My cappuccino was scalding hot.
Hazelwoods’ menu has more than the usual number options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For instance, for breakfast they have smoothies and fruit as well as American style breakfasts. It’s not cheap, but the non-fruit based portions are generous. It’s a little sad that there are no non-disposable plates and cutlery for dining in.
The atmosphere is that of a little store on the Waterfront. While the food is acceptable (however far overpriced, as typical for San Diego), the servicewoman we had was rude. I do not know what the tip is for if the only thing they are doing is calling your number when the food is ready. The cleaning personnel certainly deserves the extra tip, while the front woman does not.
I went in for the very first time. I actually would not have ordered food from them but I felt sorry for the 2 workers behind the counter being yelled at and humiliated by the (manager?) I think Carrie? I’m not one to write this type of thing but I felt awful for her behavior. I don’t care how poor or amazing job they were doing there is no place for some kinds of behavior. She was evil to them and they both were kind. I was there at 3:30-3:35 pm on Wednesday 10/8/25. That should narrow it down.
I cannot understand the high ratings. I went in for breakfast. Order was taken at the cashier without a smile or a good morning. Restaurant is self service, thus the good ratings for service are questionable at least for me. The omelette was definitely not made from fresh eggs. The bay potatoes were salty and too strongly flavored and so firmly cooked that my plastic fork broke. Only highlight was the wheat toast, but honestly: Should a toast be a highlight? Talking about cutlery: All plastic cutlery are wrapped several times in plastic wrap. Not environmentally friendly at all. There should be better solutions, even for self service. Only highlight from my perspective is the outside terrace with view on the harbor and the airport traffic.
The high rating of this place on Google makes no sense. My experience was extremely negative. First, the cleanliness of the location is very poor: the floor was visibly dirty. Second, the product delivered does not match what is advertised. The açaí bowl shown looks healthy and appetizing, but what I received was completely different. The açaí served is basically sugar, with lots of syrup mixed in, and no real taste of açaí. On top of that, the presentation is careless, as if the ingredients were just thrown into a cup. To make it worse, the price is high for such low quality. It is also important to highlight that this is false advertising, which is prohibited by law in the United States and can bring serious legal consequences for the establishment. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I will not return and do not recommend this place.
