Just move in here at san diego from las vegas . And just found out this filipino restaurant .. this restaurant is the best! Im actually not yet done eating but i really want to post a review asap! We ordered pork sisig which is really the best. And kare kare plus green beans adobo! Its all delicious! For sure will come back here! Place was awesome excellent service! And a very welcoming staff! Really recomend this restaurant !
Wow! It's really amazing! I'm very happy that I've found this restaurant in GrubHub today. So much satisfied with my order. This is perfect Filipino gourmet taste that I missed in the Philippines! The chef is exactly for 5 STAR, EXCELLENT 👍 SALAMAT 🥰🥰🥰 I ordered again, it's pork sinigang, sooo yummy 😋Pinoy na Pinoy 😲🥰🥰
On a trip to San Diego, we come across this restaurant, Kusina! Best rating Filipino restaurant in San Diego. It’s a must try on your next visit. They serve many Filipino traditional dishes like crispy pata, Pork sisig, palapok and many more. Also lots of Hawaiian dishes like loco moco and garlic shrimp. Having 5 people in our party we had the chance to try many different dishes. Everything was delicious and fresh. The place is very clean and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The best Filipino food in town ! We love going to the Sunday brunch with the family . Great atmosphere , everyone’s so friendly ! They even offer sushi. Definitely highly recommend !
Filipino food hidden gem; This place is amazing! Ordered the sisig nachos to share and crazy Loco for my main. Both were 10/10. Definitely coming back - and they have a Sunday brunch buffet!
My wife, who is Filipina, said their sinigang was a good as she makes. THAT is a compliment she has never used before. Dora, our waitress was great, professional, attentive and knew the menu. I had the crispy pata and it was delicious!!! We will be coming back!
We decided to try Kusina after having been craving palabok for a while. I fell in love with palabok in Seattle and haven’t been able to find good ones since. The food came out piping hot, cooked to order and nicely presented even though we came close to their closing time. They were cleaning here and there but friendly and attentive enough. The restaurant felt clean too. I was pleasantly surprised to find ample of shrimps in our foods. The shrimps felt juicy and plump, and the foods were seasoned well—not too salty or bland. The noodles were chewy and I like that the pancit came with lots of veggies in it. We’ll have to try other foods from their menu, but our first experience was very pleasant :)
My family and I had an amazing experience. Super nice staff. We came in a bit late lunch around 230 and they typically close at 3pm and reopen for dinner, they were kind enough to still serve us! We ordered the lechon kawali kare-kare, chicken adobo, oxtail-nilaga, cinegang pork, and krispy bulaklak. They even have a sushi bar and we had a roll. Everything was cooked fresh made to order. Impressive Filipino restaurant. Great establishment and even better staff. We’re making it a tradition to eat here every time we come to SD.
Edit: came back for sushi and it was soooo tasty! I was also excited to know that they have gluten free imitation crab! Most places don’t. I also ordered the pork soup again and it was amazing. This place is a hidden gem. Super tasty and chill! I have to eat gluten free and my options were sushi and the pork soup which was delicious! The pancit was tasty too, I’d definitely come back :)
Went here after a Miramar memorial. My filipino plate was a little bit of everything (salad, chicken adobo, pancit, sisig, bisteck, etc but no rice for me) everybody else had fried or steam rice. Theres a sushi bar but it wasn't open yet or it wasn't part of the meals. Service was good here & it wasn't busy.
Great food, fresh and large portions. Definitely will have left overs. Lady serving was very polite and treats you like family. Thank you for my bday lunch and halo halo bday dessert haha.
We drove by this place a couple of times and saw there were so many people. We got curious and gave this plant a try. The restaurant was pretty big and nice designed. We ordered a popular dish which is sizzling sisig and plus a green bean adobo. Both of the dishes are so delicious! We also had a garlic rice. The flavor feels so authentic. I totally loved this meal. The service was so great as well. The waiter brought us the chili oil and vinegar, to make the meal even more satisfying.
Great filipino traditional dishes! Beef Kare Kare, fried rice with extra fried eggs, chicken adobo, chicken katsu & sizzling sisig were delicious. Price pretty good for the large size portion you get per dish. Only 3 of us but food could of fed 6 people total. The owner is great! We love Tress. Service fast and relaxing big restaurant. If you need a venue to rent for meetings or party events, book it here. I would love to see cover bands in future if they could there. Next time I need to get Halo-Halo!

Great service and delicious Filipino food! The way they prepare their dish is pretty straightforward, which I really like. I’m glad we tried this place. We’ll be back for sure!

I ordered chicharong bulaklak as appetizer and chicken inasal as my rice combo plate. I actually didn’t like how they cooked their chicharong bulaklak. I feel like it lacks flavor. I had to order it to go, since I didn’t expect the portion size to be big which is a plus point, and I don’t know if I waited too long to eat it (2 hours), but it was already soggy, with all the oil absorbed by the meat. It was not a good taste at all. Totally lost its crunch. The chicken inasal is not bad at all, I just wish they added chicken oil to elevate its flavor. Chicken is tender, the skin part is tasty! The dip, however, is underwhelming. I thought it was vinegar but for some reason it’s salty. The combo plate is a nice touch. Price is reasonable. I just wish they improve the flavors.
Went to a carshow in Miramar and use yelp to see where to eat lunch before driving back to Vegas and came across this business. It was hot and their a/c is not working 😕 We were greeted promptly and had us sit wherever we want. It wasn't busy and the food came out fast. Tried the lumpia, miki bihon pancit, garlic rice and sisig. My son devoured the lumpia. The pancit had large serving and we were only able to finish less than half. The sisig can be better though. The meat was sliced into cubes and not the usual sisig. It wasn't the best but decent. I like the garlic rice but the bottom portion lacked taste and some parts are plain. Overall it was good minus the heat coz it was uncomfortable. Hopefully they fix it soon
A place for a variety of Filipino food. They have a Sunday brunch buffet and a regular menu on the other hours. They say that their beef kare kare is their specialty if you like a peanut sauce based stew. It had a plentiful amount of veggies and beef. The lechon was a little dry for me but skin was nice and crunchy. If you get rice a small cup is enough for 1 person and if you get a large it's overfilled with rice definitely enough for two. The sisig nachos wasn't bad just know it might be a little spicy with the chopped jalapenos inside.
Food was pretty solid. Ordered chicken inasal and pork adobo combo. We came here with half empty stomach so we didn't finish our food. Portions are pretty generous. Service was great and parking is free!
Typical selection for a Filipino breakfast; garlic fried rice, fried eggs, jeprox, dried salted fish, longanisa, tocino, lechon kawali, and Ube pancakes Pancit, vegetable kare-kare that you can top with lechon kawali, chicken katsu, filipino beef steak, fried eggplant, Missing diniguan ang lumping. Good for family or group. The value for its price is reasonable. I might go back, but not in a while.
Came here with my family on a Wednesday shortly after they opened for dinner. We were seated right away. It was not busy; only one other table was seated. We were provided water quickly. We put in our appetizer order, getting Sisig Nachos and Lumpia. We then put our food order in, getting Pancit Palabok, Lechon Kawali, and Chickem Katsu. The appetizers and Pancit Palanok were delicious. The Chicken Katsu with the mac salad was good. The Lechon Kawali was overcooked, being hard and dry. All of the dishes are large enough to share between at least a group of 3. We also ordered a small side of rice since the Chicken Katsu came with rice as well. We did ask about draft beer, but they did not have everything on the menu. Service was above average, not really checking on us after we got our food, but increased as we got close to finishing our dinner and needing take-away containers. The atmosphere is quiet, given that it was not busy. Not much with decorations, making the place look a little more classy. I would consider coming back with it being close to the house to try the other menu items.

We dined here for brunch and took family who hadn’t dined here before. While the dining room was clean, service was on point, food hot and delicious; for some reason, it seemed like the variety of dishes could have a few more different offerings. Their ube pancakes weren’t as hot as pancakes off the griddle. But I will mention some of the dishes definitely worth getting: lechon, arrozcaldo, talong (eggplant), fried egg & garlic rice, green beans, and beefsteak. Their brewed drip coffee was definitely good. All in all, it wasn’t bad at all. It’s just that other AYCE Asian/Chinese restaurants nearby, or even Kalaveras’ Mexican Restaurant in Chula Vista offer similar AYCE brunches similar in price, but offer 2-2 1/2 times the food variety. In other words, if you dined here for an encore shortly afterwards, you’d most likely find the same dishes and not much which you didn’t try on your last visit. If you like Filipino food, you’d most likely find Kusina’s very good. I just wish they had more hot dishes prepared…
Came in for my birthday dinner around 7pm on a week day, an hour before closing. Called ahead to ensure we could still dine and the staff confirmed we could. Went to order food, but they said it would take longer for the dish I wanted, so they suggested I order something else as they close at 8pm. I understood considering the time but I was a little let down as I hadn’t had filipino food in years and was looking forward to that meal. The kawali was good, but a little dry. Lumpia was delicious along with the all the condiments (gravy, sweet chili). Their online menu states they had turon, but our server stated they didn’t have that on their menu. Their halo-halo was exactly what I was looking for- definitely will come back for that. All in all, it is best to come in during their earlier times. The restaurant is beautiful, clearly equipped to host events. They had good karaoke type music playing too.

Food is okay. We ordered sisig, kare-kare and garlic rice. Sisig is not sizzling looks like it has been sitting out for awhile. Staff was friendly but forgetful. She mixed up our order with the other table and gave us their food which we immediately alert her. The place is dark due to dark curtains covering all windows and cheap metal patio chairs makes too much noise when you move them. We are going to try other items on the menu maybe the chef is having an off day when we first visited this place.
Came here for the sizzling sisig as a buddy of mine saw it on a post somewhere. We were all excited and ordered it but to our disappointment, it tasted different. Even the bistek and adobo was a little off. They’re not bad but it’s not that good either. Service was good tho and the place is nice.
Lechon kawali was okay, kare kare not so much. I've tried better tbh. Nothing beats Guam's Ben&Yan when it comes to kare kare.
We drove almost 30minutes but unfortunately they dont accept walk-ins. Im not sure if its only for today. They did bookings without informing people ahead of time.
This Filipino-Asian fusion restaurant serves both classic Filipino comfort dishes and Hawaii inspired plates, along with a small sushi menu and a weekend brunch buffet. I came for the Sunday buffet, which is $25 per person. The food was good, but could have been better. There was a decent selection of entrees to choose from, but I expected more. However, the buffet could have been better if they had tapa and longanisa. I feel that these are a required staple to have in every Filipino buffet. The buffet hours are from 9am-3pm. They offer an open eating space with plenty of seating for both small and large groups. I enjoyed the kare-kare. It was packed with great flavors. The rest of the options were just okay in my opinion. The lechon was either overcooked or reheated from the previous day. It didn’t seem fresh, and it was a bit hard to chew. I expected better if the chef has over 20 years of experience. Overall, it was still a good experience. I would only return if they change the entrees every week. I’m not sure if they offer the same choices weekly.
We were looking for Filipino food around the area and found this one. Sad to say it didn’t meet our standards. The ambiance was a bit strange and shares a space with a sushi bar. The service was good, our waiter was friendly and attentive except for at the end when we were done. Seems like we were forgotten and had to stand up to pay. We ordered the fried bangus with mango salsa but it barely had any mango? Also wanted to order Filipino beer but they were out? We also ordered the palabok chow fun which, like other reviews said - it was a miss. ***Maybe add a picture to the menu so people don’t over look that it is not the skinny noodle. Also, the garlic fried rice didn’t taste good either, it was kind of basic. Maybe if we happen to be in the area again we’d try the best sellers but the menu design IMO needs work to showcase those items.

We ate here for Sunday brunch buffet. I reserved a table the same morning and received a confirmation email stating that we had a reservation. However, upon arrival, the receptionist told us that since we booked that morning, we still had to wait at least 20 minutes to be seated—which didn’t really make sense to me. If that were the case, they should’ve placed us on the waitlist instead. That said, it didn’t actually take the full 20 minutes for us to get seated, which was a good thing. The food was okay overall. Refills for the kare-kare took a bit of time. I was also hoping they’d have sinigang—for obvious reasons (best soup in the world 😬). I wasn’t a fan of the tocino since it was drowning in oil. On the positive side, I loved the ube butter and the champorado, especially paired with jeprox.
I am quite disappointed. I've been wanting to try them out because of the reels recommendation. We went their Saturday and the place is almost empty. Food is alright nothing special, doesn't taste authentic. None of the workers speaks Filipino either , I thought this will be one of san diego's feel at home Filipino place. The Inasal taste nothing like inasal more like BBQ but lacking of flavor. Chicken was a bit hard already doesn't taste fresh. I'm so disappointed, we drove 40 minutes and I was craving for inasal. The siomai is already soak with soy sauce , my first time getting served like that. I suggest that they should separate the sauce and give the option to the customer, also add the chili garlic. Siomai taste like store brought and not freshly made. The garlic rice was bad too. None of the food taste authentic tho the bicol express was Okay. Service was alright and parking was free and easy.. . But not definitely not a place to recommend.

I went to my favorite Filipino restaurant and had an unfortunate experience this time around. We sat at a table and before ordering any food, we asked if we can switch to a booth. The older lady with blonde hair taking our order refused and expressed “I don’t have the time to bus the table.” I completely understand if it was extremely busy, but there was a total of three other tables there. She was also extremely rude in her tone. As someone who works in the service industry, I would never respond to a customer in this way and I would also not see it as an inconvenience to bus a table, considering it’s in the job description. The sisig is amazing here though, it is a little inconsistent in taste, some days better than others. Would recommend to try it out.
Too much success too fast... Took over 15 min to get to the buffet, and then almost everything is out. They ran out of mimosas but were not letting people know who was waiting. The worst part is they just kept seating people making the problem worse and worse. Of the little food I did get it wasn't bad.
We came from AZ only to be turned around because they were having an event. The lady treated us like 2nd class while emphasizing the importance of “their clients”, stating, “well, you know our clients…..we have these clients.” I interrupted her and said we’ll just go somewhere else. So we went to Max Restaurant and spent $300 there because we were hungry! Also , not sure why they had the door opened? Saving on electricity? That’s one way for flies to enter an establishment. ☹️
Worst place I’ve ever been! The woman there with a bad attitude and arrogance didn’t let us eat because she said that they were going to have a big group of people coming in. We mentioned that the host was the one who said it was ok to seat anywhere, she kept telling us to get out as we were animals…
Tried this place and food wasn’t good, also expensive for a mediocre food BIG! disappointment. The kare-kare was lacking flavor, lumpia was okay and the palabok was bland and not enough sauce they give you so much noodles and a little bit of sauce and the chicken inasal was mostly skin. Ended up throwing most of the food what a waste of money can’t and won’t recommend this place, stay away!
We went there during a week night expecting a buffet but I guess they have it only on Sundays. I wish they stated that on the Social Media ads. No one was there but tried it anyways. It was a big mistake. The garlic rice that was served to us was old. It had an odd smell and I should have said something but we were tired and hungry. I didn’t feel well when I got home. We had lots of leftovers of Adobo & Sisig but I had to throw them away because I packaged it with the rice. The Lumpia was the best thing but the container for the vinegar is shared instead of from a bottle that is freshly poured.

The worst place to be. No flexibility. Such a shame to come to a place where they cannot afford to adjust time. The person who responded did not even specify the rules! I informed them that it is between 11-12 PM the owner responded 11 but we were not advised that I need to be there by 11 AM. Kaloka! I asked ano po gawin natin, the owner just said. WALA. 🥸 Worst owner as well. Their customer service is the worst! We won’t be coming back!! When you look inside it is pretty disorganized. The lady at the front who takes order is a lost soul, she does not know what to do. Overspending on ads only to get influx of bookings but they cannot manage to properly deliver.
