Friendly people quick and easy online order as well
Stopped by Subway today for a quick bite, and not only was the food on point, but the service really stood out—thanks to Robert behind the counter. From the moment I walked in, Robert greeted me with a smile and a genuinely positive attitude. He didn’t just go through the motions—he asked how my day was going, gave great suggestions for my sandwich (pro tip from Robert: toasted Italian Herbs & Cheese with chipotle sauce is chef’s kiss), and made sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. He was fast, friendly, and handled the lunchtime rush like a pro—never once losing that upbeat energy. The sandwich was fresh, stacked just right, and actually looked like the photos (rare these days!). Honestly, it's service like this that makes you want to come back. If you're stopping by this Subway, hope you catch Robert on shift—he makes the experience better than you'd expect from a fast food spot.
Manager Karla it’s super nice and pretty she always has the store really clean veggies are always fresh , the bread it’s super delicious and soft 💯🙌🏽
dropped my sandwich and they were friendly and made me a new one! good crew and vibes! thank you guys 🙏
I guess the go to is Chicken Fried Steak but I wasn't told this until after I ordered. I got biscuits and gravy and boy I tell you it was good. The gravy is real and it's rich. Unique biscuits to not like a fluffy flaky buttermilk but it was soft and soaked up the gravy perfectly. It also came with sausage and we sat outside which was nice for an early breakfast before downtown starts buzzing. Right next to the ballbark and definitely a small local spot to spend your money at if you are looking for spots like that.
My wife and I were in town for our Anniversary and decided to try Lucky's mainly because it was close to our hotel. The breakfast was Very, Very Good! For a Monday, about Mid Morning the food fresh and hot! Outdoor seating was available which increased the experience. You should definitely give it a try! As a military veteran I was certainly pleased that they showed their appreciation to those that have served by offering a military discount! Certainly will dine here again!
Our family stopped in for breakfast and loved it! My 3-egg omelet was huge and stuffed with chicken sausage, peppers, spinach, tomatoes, and cheese. Hash browns were delicious and cooked perfectly. Fresh sourdough toast was a great compliment to the meal. Kids loved their pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon!
We drove downtown to go to a 1pm Padres game at Petco Park and we were about an hour early. I didn't really want to go inside the park to pay 400% markups on beer and hot dogs and there are plenty of restaurants in downtown so we went to one of the closest ones: Lucky's. It was amazing to me there were a couple of empty tables outside, completely shaded. We grabbed one and went to the counter to order. There is no server or host. You order at the counter and they'll give you a number for your table when the food comes. We ordered a couple of beers (two Salty Crew Blonde Ales - which were great), the big 1/2lb cheeseburger ($16.75), a french dip (also $16.75) and a Coke ($5). Total was $54 before tax/tip. $54 won't go very far in the ballpark, so coming here was a great idea. The burger was massive (1/2lb!) and the french dip included the au jus. Both were very good. Fries were tasty too. They even brought the food out to us in to-go containers, which was very handy! Overall this place gets a thumbs up and we may stop in here again for future games.
Hands down the best breakfast burrito! The bases loaded burrito name says it all!! This place was recommended to me by my brother and it did not disappoint. It’s a big burrito, so if you’d like to share half of it, you can and it will fill you up. I will definitely return. I also liked that it is super close to the petco stadium, just feet away. That’s a plus !
This is our second time coming here, while in town and we've enjoyed it both times. The first time we sat outside in 2020 and the table was very dirty, but the food was great. This last time we sat inside. I used the bathrooms and they were clean. The table was clean too. We realized there are two different menus. One was outside and the other was in, so be mindful of that. All of our food was wonderful. Service was OK. We'll come back though since the food was delightful. Stop here for breakfast, then walk around petco park. Get coffee at the French bakery near by, then head to Gaslamp souvenir shop for some great finds!
Love that this Subway is actually open 24 hours! Fast service and correct orders. A bummer that the bathroom was out of “service” but not the biggest issue in the world. Slightly annoyed that you can only use coupons if you order online - but the app doesn’t let you use your EBT card as a payment method so their promos and discounts dont apply when using EBT unfortunately ($6.99 any footlong I’m talking to you!!) Overall neat and tidy tho and will be back again for more late night subs!!
Cute concept and decent sized portions at Lucky’s in East Village. There is no table service unless you count the dropping off of food you order up front prior to sitting down. I was excited to try the Jalapeño Patty Melt because I love jalapeños and I’m somewhat of a Patty Melt connoisseur. I was left disappointed by the sheer lack of jalapeños on the burger. I wish I would have taken pictures with the bread off to show how few peppers there were. There was one piece on one half and three small strips on the other. Plenty of onions though. The burger was decent sized and cooked well with a nice healthy serving of fries. My partner got the Griddle Combo and said it was decent. The pancakes were large and served with butter. The scrambled eggs were pretty basic but hot sauce helped. Sodas were four dollars which is just highway robbery and upped our bill unnecessarily. Unless your super thirsty I’d say just get some water to save yourself ten bucks. Bottom line is decent food at a no frills diner but don’t expect to be blown away.
Lucky's Lunch Counter is delicious! Here's why... Starting with Build Your Own Breakfast Burrito... Peppers, onions, sausage, cheddar cheese. Nom! Also had hash browns inside, super crispy, and the eggs oh-so fluffy! Salsa that came with it, delicious and not too spicy. Other standouts: - Turkey Club. I mean look at the pic! Hella sandwich; very satisfying! - Ruben Sandwich. Changed the bread to sourdough (sorry, I hate caraway) and it was perfect! Pastrami was so good! - French Fries! Absolutely crispy outside and fluffy inside, just how I like them. Side of thousand island and I was set! - Nitro Cold Brew Coffee on draft. Winner! Go ahead and skip: - Pulled Pork Sandwich. Sauce was way too sweet which overpowered the house smoked pork. Maybe order without the sauce? On early game days the line is out the building and for good reason, Lucky's is awesome!
Stopped in before a Padres Game and ordered on the kiosk. Was disappointed that they didn't have ice available as were the other customers since they didn't let us know prior to ordering. Worst was the soda was warm too from the fountain. It was 93 degrees outside. The sandwich was almost as bad. The only thing that didn't disappoint was my jalapeno chips. Sad but true. This place has gone downhill fast. I most likely won't be back. I used to frequent this location often.
Located right next to Petco Park in the gaslamp area. Open all night long. The footlong sandwiches are triple the price they used to be. my sandwich was skimpy as could be. I am disappointed in the amount of products and how light it was. Years ago the 5 dollar footlongs were 3 times as big as what I recently received.
The sandwich maker was very rude. He didn't acknowledge my presence until I cleared my throat. When I told him I was picking up a mobile order he turned away when I told him my name.
The required digital ordering system has made the experience slower and more frustrating than it used to be. In the past, you could walk down the line, tell the team what you wanted, and be out quickly with a fresh sandwich. That efficiency was a big reason to come here. Now, it takes several minutes to click through every option on the screen. Often you need help from the team just to complete the order, and they still have not started making the sandwich. By the time you reach the payment screen, you could have already ordered, eaten, and left under the old process. I understand the goal of using technology, but this system creates delays and confusion instead of improving speed or accuracy. I hope you reconsider how this process works so customers can get back to the fast, simple experience that made this place great.
Older lady being very rude for no reason when I came to politely pick up my order and was very polite she had a very bad attitude and threatened to report me because she was being very nasty and even though I gave her clear and direct information she was upset that she had a difficult time reading the name so I showed her on her phone. She immediately with no reason trying to hinder me from being successful in my endeavors by being unnecessarily difficult and possibly discriminating and would not let me speak to her coworkers without allowing me to explain that I simply am here to pick up an order. Why she was being difficult and her job is to communicate effectively with the public is now inconvenient due to her lack of communication and friendly customer service duties.
I’ve ordered doordash from here multiple times as I work overnight and it’s the only things really open. I’ve always had an issue with the food from here and tonight after eating my other half of the sandwhich ordered yesterday i found HAIRS. i’ve worked restaurants before and even retail and this disgusts me after not one but TWO. in my food. i have dark brown wavy hair and this peice was blonde and straight. I’m disgusted and will definitely be reaching out for compensation .
Horrible experience, avocado skin, pit, banana pepper stems, stem from lettuce in both our sandwiches. When asked for a refund or to remake sandwich employees said they won’t do it, when asked for a number for manager booth employees went to the kitchen and stayed there. We weren’t being aggressive or rude, we just explained and asked politely and they just ignored us after.
I always come to the subway several times a day I came around after midnight and was treated very horribly I ordered two of The deal of the Day meals and for $3 made them into a footlong the person that took my order was extremely rude threw the cookies at me refused to give me a receipt completely not acceptable. I wouldn't give them a one but a 0 I will like to speak to the manager about this Employee need to be fired ASAP
Bathrooms not open during overnight. Few transient about. Ok service but management does not support community. Maybe if you don't look homeless, and ask anyone other than the disheveled kid usually working nights alone, you can use restroom. Preferably, use Walmart within three miles. Not an ideal community vibe with these guys. Gentleman in pic claimed he was the owner. "The 10th guy that messed that bathroom up ruined it for everyone". Is this what subway is about? "F the public" - guy in pic. Last straw with franchise owners.
First time in SD, got here @ 12:40am (kinda late… but OPEN 24hrs!!) and was denied service - stating to place an order on the kiosk ONLY, and that it would be an HOUR wait after that. What kind of service is that? Staffing needs to be addressed at this location, 1 person cant fill all mobile and in-person orders. Unfortunately 0.3/10.
Can build your way. Its all done buly a kiosk then only 1 sandwich maker. Very different from other subways which is unfortunate when you come to a subway knowing what you get. Also 1 worker is crazy and also unsafe for the area. Please do better. P.s. nothing against the worker just the setup and staffing
I always come here and order form the kiosk because they tell you to. They tell you not to order at the counter anymore. So i do and i always ask for extra veggies and extra protein and i pay for it but when they make my sandwich its all small and they dont put the extra items. Even though i paid for them. Big disappointment. This has happened 3 times already.
I am very dissapointed because I told the guy to toast my sandwiches and he didn't do it. I had to heat it up in my home microwave. Also, I had ordered a spicy nacho chicken sandwich and he gave me a roast beef with nacho sandwich covered in all types of sauces that were very salty. He also told us to use the screen to order instead of being polite and take our order and input the order himself.
The staff was really kind and they were working really hard. My problem with my experience was the automated ordering. They had kiosks that you're supposed to order at instead of just asking the human to make it the way you want. It has a terrible UI, and it ends up taking longer to order what you want than it ever took to to have the person make your sandwich - then you have to wait for them to make it! I want it to be clear that the employees were great, but management has made a terrible, anti-human decision here. I'd bet that they're using this to justify lower wages for the (again, exceptional!) staff. Terrible experience, never returning
Subway, no longer offers wraps, made with tortillas only with flat bread. If I wanted bread I’d order a sandwich. It appears the only place I could buy wraps are at hospitals smh
Not sure what the hype is about this spot, the food has no seasoning (genuinely) and was expensive for what you get. Also one of the employees was rude the entire time we were there. I would say you should skip this spot and opt for other restaurants nearby - there's a lot of options with better flavor for your buck, and without sides of attitude lol
