Opinions de Marufuku Ramen San Diego
Food was incredibly delicious. Service was phenomenal, thank you Jocelyn. The atmosphere was beautiful. My party came for San Diego Restaurant Week and decided to give this place a shot. Well worth it. The flight of appetizers were very delicious, especially the karaage and the wings. The ramen was very rich and flavorful, and the toppings were perfect. Will definitely be coming back here. Highly recommend.
Easily some of the best chicken ramen I ever had. Our server told us RakiRaki was their biggest competitor? RakiRaki doesn't even come close. Marafuku Ramen, located in the Sky Deck in Del Mar was a relaxing spot. It wasn't busy so that was nice, and considering the location being surrounded by many other businesses it is rather comforting. Our server, Jocelyn, had outstanding service. She was very nice and attentive and familiarized us with the menu. Always nice when employees do this cause it makes deciding easier the next time around. My wife and I ordered the gyoza, and the frozen strawberry lemonade. The gyoza was average nothing crazy, but definitely better than RakiRaki's gyoza... and the frozen lemonade was bomb. It is 8 bucks so I probably wouldn't get it again just cause its lemonade but it was good. I ordered the chicken paitan ramen, which is what they are known for I believe. The ramen comes with a side of 18 hour (?) marinated chicken thigh. Limited to only 15 servings a day! So I was lucky enough to snag one. A pricey ramen for sure coming in at a total of $21.95. Just the chicken ramen with no chicken leg is $18.00. And, this establishment did something really nice that other places just wouldn't do. So personally I don't like a bunch of stuff in my ramen. Preferably just egg, noodles, and green onion. The ramen originally came with a bunch of stuff in it, so I just shrunk it down to just green onion and egg. Then she asked me if I wanted to add something in it instead for free as like a substitute for the stuff I removed. I was shocked! I asked if I could get an extra egg and she said yeah no problem. And yeah the egg was free. So many other places would just take all the stuff out and if you wanted to replace it with something else, they'd probably charge you. Especially an egg, so that was just awesome because I always get an extra egg and it was nice to be free. I got my ramen and it was amazing. I love creamy ramen and my ramen was creamy, rich, and very savory. A nice thing about this place too is that you can adjust the spice level on your ramen. Some of the BEST chicken ramen I have ever had. The thigh was also amazing, the meat fell right off the bone and paired really well with the ramen. The typical basic ramen is tonkatsu, but I rarely get it just because it is pork. Therefore, I am unaware how the tonkatsu ramen is but if you like chicken ramen, especially creamy and flavorful ramen then I highly recommend.
Hakata Ramen is consistently good. I ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu DX for takeout. The noodles reheated well and did not get too soft. Service is friendly. The restaurant is decorated very festively. I like it.
Updated review: My 9-year old has been asking me to bring her back here to eat her favorite Ramen. It’s always delicious, always great service, and at the same time no wait - perfect combination. Previous review: I like the chicken ramen from Marufuku a lot. The staff is always very nice, the service is quick and pleasant and the ramen is always yummy. Very kid-friendly. Located in Skydeck, with a proximity to Jimbo’s and various stores and One Paseo - big plus. I always enjoy my meals here - quick, delicious and pleasant.
I came here for lunch. I ordered two ramen bowls one pork and one chicken. The pork I got ultra spicy. They both had really good flavor and if you're used to spicy ultra spicy isn't that spicy but it does have really good flavor. We had the Marufuku bites with fried chicken. This was really good too. Our waiter was really good and was checking up on us. He came around the table and filled up our waters three or four times. The ambience of the restaurant was really nice and decorated. I will be coming back here again.
From Phoenix looking for some good ramen and I’m so glad I found this place. It’s located on the second story of a “skydeck” inside of a very nice looking food court. I ordered my ramen medium spicy and it was delicious! I added more chile powder and oil to it. The server Leo was awesome and friendly!
Super delicious ramen here. We came here twice in one week. The spicy ramen is one of my favourite. You can choose the level of spiciness from the menu. Very attentive service from Malina, she is sweet and lovely too! Will be back again and cannot recommend highly enough.
Outstanding Ramen, excellent Sake and fantastic service! This is a cool spot in a very interesting food court called Sky Deck in Del Mar. My server, Jocelyn, was truly outstanding and definitely elevated the entire dining experience. She was personable, helpful, knowledgeable and extremely professional. 👏 👌 🙌 I love Ramen and I have to say that this is one of the best that I ever had......really- really good! I can't wait to return!
Great option for ramen in Del Mar located towards the back of the SkyDeck. It’s definitely worth getting there early for the chicken paitan dx. The smell alone is intoxicating. The veg ramen is hearty and not an afterthought, great flavors. The chasu bowl was my favorite of the bowls. The takoyaki was also perfectly cooked and fresh.
Marufuku has some of the best ramen in San Diego! We always go for the Hakata tonkatsu dx with the thick noodles (it usually comes with thinner noodles but you can ask to substitute). It comes with juicy chasu, a soft boiled egg, pickled ginger, corn, finely shopped woo ear mushrooms, and a sheet of seaweed. The broth is rich and creamy - exactly what you would hope for in a tonkatsu broth. It’s the kind of broth that turns to jello if you leave it in the fridge because it’s so rich. This bowl of ramen also comes with a slice of their decadent marinated kakuni pork. They have a good selection of beers and sake to accompany your meal. There are also some fun imported juices and sodas on offer. The blistered shishito peppers are a delightful appetizer. Slightly spicy and smokey with a hint of freshness. Marufuku is tucked in the corner of the sky deck which has many other options for drinking and eating. You can join the waitlist early on yelp before you come to expedite getting seated.
My first time here and my family had a great experience! Ambiance/Service: It’s located in the Sky Deck building towards the back. Our party of 8 got seated right away at around 4:30pm on a Thursday. There are several 4-6 person tables/booths and a few 8-person tables, great for large groups! Our server was fast and efficient, I wish got her name! Food came out very quickly. Food: We were within the happy hour period so we got some appetizers off of that menu. For each happy hour food item, you have to order a drink with it. *7pc Gyoza ($6 HH): Pan seared and was a little soupy in the inside which I really liked! *Chicken Karaage ($6 HH): Fried and super crunchy. *Spicy TanTan Men ($18.50) + 3pc Seaweed add-on ($1.25): I love spicy food and I ordered ultra spicy. Definitely had some heat and it was very flavorful! Served with ground chicken. Other items ordered: *Hakata Tonkotsu ($20.95)-served with Chashu Pork and *Chicken Paitan ($18). Overall: I’m very impressed with this place! I’d definitely come back here for their happy hour items, the Spicy TanTan Men, and the excellent service!
My first time to the Sky Deck and this wonderful ramen restaurant. It was a rainy windy day and this was the perfect scenario for a hot ramen lunch. I chose the spicy ground chicken ramen and it was perfect! Very flavorful broth and ingredients. Draft beer for $3.99. This lunch special is tough to beat. Service was great and friendly. Just go! Run don't walk!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Marufuku Ramen, and it was an outstanding experience. I ordered the Pork Tonkotsu Deluxe, and it was absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful broth, tender pork, and perfectly cooked noodles that made every bite delightful. The service was exceptional, thanks to our wonderful server, Fern. She was attentive, friendly, and ensured we had everything we needed, making our visit even more enjoyable. The generous portions were another highlight, offering great value along with exceptional taste. I highly recommend Marufuku Ramen to anyone craving authentic, satisfying ramen with top-notch service. Kudos to Fern and the entire team!
Really great experience here. The food was delicious and we had Fern as our waitress. She was extremely cheerful and provided excellent service. Thank you so much Fern & Marifuku Ramen

Visiting California me, my son and his girlfriend came here. The atmosphere is wonderful and so comfy. Food delicious!! Our waiter was amazing unfortunately I forgot her name but her service was Top Tier. I will definitely come back to eat when I visit again.
Inside the food Sky Deck food hall area it really does not have a unique atmosphere since it’s a shared area with other restaurants but the food is really good. Make sure to get the Deluxe portions because they’re a better value than just the ramen alone! The apps were pretty decent as well. Can’t go wrong with the karage. Potstickers and Takoyaki were ok, nothing special. Staff were quick, attentive and helpful.
Vegiterian ramen was delicious 🤤. The atmosphere is nice but just a little loud but good vibe. Good drink selection from beer to saki.
Located within a food hall with live DJ. Cool vibes. We had squid legs Geso Fry🦵 and Marufuku bites. We also had the Hakata medium spice Ramen and spices TanTan Ramen. A pint of Sapporo hit the spot. All was yummy and quite filling. The noodles were different between the two Ramen bowls and I personally liked the TanTan noodles which is thicker with more of a bite and chew.
Delicious ramen! Sky deck has lively vibe and there are many eating options here. Marufuku Ramen in Skydeck is a great option for ramen. Their broth is flavorful and their noodles are thin and smooth. You can ask them for extra hot broth, if you like your ramen hot. Ours came out lukewarm, would have preferred it to be hot. So, while ordering the second time we specifically mentioned extra hot and it was good. If you are planning to go there on a weekend, be prepared to wait for 30-50mins. It’s a good place for ramen though.

Overall, our visit to Marufuku Ramen was a mixed experience. While the setting in Del Mar Highlands is a total vibe and our server was genuinely kind and attentive, two things significantly impacted our impression. Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen – 4.5/5 This was the highlight of the meal. The broth was rich and creamy, the noodles were cooked just right, and the soft-boiled egg was perfectly runny. Truly a standout dish that showcases what Marufuku does best! Seasonal Mazesoba – 2/5 Unfortunately, this was where things fell apart. My husband mentioned it was “too al dente,” but continued eating it (without even enjoying it). When I tried it after he ate 1/3 of it, I realized the noodles weren’t just “too al dente”…they were completely undercooked. It felt like they’d been boiled for half the necessary time. Not only did that ruin the dish, but my husband (who rarely has stomach issues) experienced stomach discomfort after our dinner, likely from the undercooked noodles. We ended up taking the rest home so we can re-cook the noodles ourselves. We also found it strange that the restaurant adds a 4% surcharge “to cover increasing costs.” While we understand rising expenses, it feels odd to pass that cost onto guests I’d definitely return only for the Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen, but after the mazesoba incident, I’d hesitate to try anything else on the menu.
I used to absolutely love this place, Marufugu Ramen. Huge portions, low price, great taste. But after the price of the Chicken Paitan DX went up from $18.50 to $21.95, they also added a 4% surcharge to the entire bull “Support the recent increases of food cost and minimum wage". Plus, this is their most recommended dish, the chicken leg and ramen combo is now way too salty today. It's just not as good as before – so I am disappointed

The special chicken that came with the chicken paitan DX ramen was so bland despite the dark color look. It had no flavor whatsoever! They make it sound so special by limiting to only 15 servings a day, and I should have seen it as a red flag when I came in for dinner at 6pm and they hadn’t reached the max servings yet. It’s not even good so not a lot of people are going to buy it. The broth was lukewarm at best. Overall, it was a 4/10. Appetizers and entrees came out almost simultaneously, so we had no time to enjoy the chicken karage (7/10) and takoyaki (6/10 because it was soggy) before the ramen got cold. The Hakata Tonkotsu DX ramen was the only highlight of the meal. The chashu pork was very soft and tasty. Broth was flavorful and hot enough to enjoy. 8/10. Service wasn’t good either. The waitress was quick to take our orders and then never really checked on us until I flagged her down for the check. My water glass never got refilled and I had to drink my husband’s water. 3/10. It was a prefix menu for $40/person during restaurant week. Not worth the money. I won’t be back.
