I will say its more of an experience, an adventure and memorable event to dine here. The food is amazing! The service is amazing! The location is amazing! Everyone at a table is treated jus like the other. Your date is jus as important as mine. My event is jus as special as the next. We came here for date night. All around us were different occasions being shared with another. The table to our right had an 18th birthday being celebrated. Across the way was an anniversary. And the server came jus as quick to every table. Making each person's of every party feel like there was no one but them there that night. The lamb was sooo good. The steak was perfect. The mac n cheese I couldn't stop eating it was so cheesy. And dessert ended up on the house jus because the server didn't want us to miss out on how good it was. And he was right! Cheese cake couldn't have been any better. Ruths Chris Steak House is perfect for all occasions. We also noticed that every "date" looking party's (smaller parties), were sat nearest to the view of the ocean. Jus a small touch with no extra charge to add to yours points for the night say you trying to impress.
This was one of our most enjoyable dining experiences. My wife had the rib eye, which was as delicious and tender as advertised. I had the stuffed chicken, which I really enjoyed. The chicken stuffing is on the sweet side, and might not be for everyone. We also had the scalloped potatoes which were very good. The service is off the charts. Our server Rebecca was awesome - what a personality! One note - ask for a table downstairs if you want a better view.
We were here celebrating a birthday. Dinner was scrumptious! We really enjoyed it and we'll be back.
The service is usually wonderful, but our waiter was new, so he didn't quite make the mark, but over all we were very satisfied. We celebrated our 20th anniversary with the petite medallions and shrimp, creamed spinach, lobsters mac n cheese, and sweet potatoes. The food was absolutely delicious.
Worth the money. Impeccable service. Superb taste. Great for business dinners and special occasions. Excellent views at daytime or sunset time.
This is a review for their happy hour. Lets me summarize in a few words: hidden gem, awesome deal, good food, great drinks, nice service, fantastic atmosphere. May noy be your "coworkers beer drinking" type of hapoy hour, but if you want something more elegant, classy, intimate, this IS the place to go.
Amazing!! Can't wait to go back. The hand crafted cocktails were so good! We tried the lemon drop, the blackberry sidecar, raspberry cosmo and the pomegranate martini. We had the shrimp to start. Both sauces were really good, tangy and fresh. We also had salads, basic but good and the croutons are tiny and tasty! The petite filet & shrimp was so delicious!!! A must try! So was the salmon & shrimp but the steak wins! We had brussel sprouts & cremini mushrooms on the side and finished off with a cappuccino and a lovely flourless chocolate cake. Everything was so good and the service was top notch. The atmosphere is also very nice, overall a very enjoyable place to dine!
Pricy but you get what you pay for. Definitely pay the extra to get blue cheese. It has a nice view but if you get a patio table be aware it's right next to the freeway so it's loud. If you're in the market for good steak and amazing service, this is the place to go! Updated to add that the patio is dog friendly. Even on a cold winter night, the wall of fire they have keeps you nice and toasty! It's a little noisy with the freeway but now that we know it's dog friendly this will be our go-to fancy dinner (with the dogs).
We first ordered a bottle of wine, L'Ecole 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon. Bread and butter were actually super tasty. I got the medium rare 11 oz Filet Mignon. My dad got the 22 oz Bone In Cowboy Ribeye while my mom got the Steak and Shrimp which was 2 4 oz Filet Mignon and 6 shrimps. We got 3 sides of Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Creamed Spinach and Bacon Brussel Sprouts. The Steak was super good, the Creamed Spinach was good too but made my stomach upset. Service was great!
The food was simply …. Divine. I did wait a bit for my table but the food quality and service made up for it. Anthony was my server for the night which whom showed incredible kindness and professionalism. I am from out of town but I’ll make sure to make this place a go to for my next trip here.
Celebrated my 24th birthday here with my family , Highly recommend this place the view is phenomenal, customer service is above and beyond, our server David was very accommodating, friendly and very respectful, Food was was right on very delicious
The food as expected was amazing . Particularly the lamb chops and new York strip . The expresso Martini is to die for . Chip provided impeccable service above and beyond expectations and is an asset and credit to the brand . Will be back , highly recommend .
Always a great meal with great service. If you like steak search no further. Good wine list. Made a birthday guest feel special.
The BEST Ruth's Chris. Excellent and consistent food. Cozy and intimate atmosphere. Service was especially exceptional. Someone always made sure our table was clean, and drinks were filled. Managers came to our table and made sure we were happy. Patrick, our server was great. We will always come here when we visit San Diego.
Absolutely amazing experience as always. My wife and I just celebrated an anniversary at Ruth Chris last night. Our server Chris was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The steaks were cooked to perfection on their trademarking sizzling hot plate. It absolutely just melts in your mouth when you eat it. We had the spicy shrimp cocktail which Chris recommended and loved it. In addition, the desserts were tasty as well. It is always a wonderful time when we dine here.
Having never had been to a location before, I had a great experience and will be visiting other locations near where I live. I had no idea they did extremely hot plates, which was very interesting. For me, I like a rare steak, bordering on black and blue, which is exactly what I got! The hot plate allowed me to cook the steak as I went instead of it getting overcooked by sitting for too long. I do not know if this is by design or not, but it worked for me!!
The staff was beyond friendly. The decor and ambiance was gorgeous. The outdoor looked like great with the interactive monuments. Really nice. The mains were cooked to perfection. Wehad the lobster with 11oz steak. I honestly believe the 6oz would be enough with you are getting the set menu, so dont bother too much with the amount of meat. Desserts were just okay, but they do what they seem to claim to do well, nice steaks. It is rather expensive though. Consider at least 150 usd per person if you are getting wine. But excellent chain.
We came in over Labor Day weekend to celebrate 6 months of marriage. Every single member of staff we encountered was great, from table service to our bartender, but our waiter Patrick was the highlight of the night. All his menu recommendations were spot on, from the veal ravioli appetizer to the outstanding apple crumble dessert! Our longtime favorites, the sweet potato casserole and the creme brulee, are just as wonderful as we remembered them. We left supremely satisfied with our meals and our experience. Thank you to Patrick for the care he put in to make sure everything was perfect!
Kelly made the experience amazing. I will now forever hold all steak house restaurants to the standard that she delivered as it was phenomenal. Steak was amazing seasoned just right not over the top and tender, Hands down best steak house experience i could ask for being from out of town, I would fly in just to experience this again! i will also say i was kinda bummed they didnt have skillet cookies though this needs to change! Thanks Kelly for the great service!
Mr. Patrick was our server. I'm not even going to spoil the surprise. Just request him. You won't be disappointed. Attentive and able to track every individual in a large party. Well done, sir. Food... well, it's Ruth's Chris. Every bite was perfect. I brought a couple of bottles of wine and paid the corkage that paired perfectly with the 3 course meal. Personally, I went for all that extras. You can't go wrong with any of the choices. Seriously. We all shared and compared amongst ourselves. Atmosphere is good, and made better by the attentive staff. Flawless evening. We had a dinner for 8 with 5 birthdays. See you next year!
I had to eat here and verify the reviews for myself, and I was not disappointed. Yes, you will pay $50+ for a steak, but it will likely be the best steak you ever tasted. The "secret" is that both the top and bottom of the steak are cooked at 1800 degrees Fahrenheit and served on a plate that is 500 degrees. Those subtle differences make for a unique taste experience. The steak will size as you slice into it, and each bite will be amazing! The desserts were also amazing. I went here for my wedding anniversary and was treated very well. I will have to make it a point to come here in other days. 5 stars all around!
Came for Happy Hour, and it didn't disappoint! Chris was our server/bartender and he took great care of us. Ordered 3 of the happy hour food items and all four of the cocktails. Everything was amazing. The tuna was.cooked perfectly and the shrimp was huge and had just the right amount of tempura batter. The steak sandwich was absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked steak with Bearnaise and fries - absolutely delicious. We'll definitely be back. Oh, the bill after tax and tip was less than $50/per person too! Pretty great considering this is Ruth's Chris!
Excellent steaks! Got the 6oz steak and shrimp combo. Update: Got the 8oz filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and very tender. The mashed potatoes were smooth, creamy and very tasty. The creamed spinach had the perfect consistency and was delicious. The mixed greens Steak House salad was very fresh with the perfect amount of dressing. The chocolate sin cake was creamy, not too sweet, just amazing. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly. An excellent experience. Update: Got the 6oz steak and shrimp combo, with mashed potatoes and broccoli, and bread pudding for dessert. Everything was excellent. Update: Got the 6oz steak and shrimp combo, with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, and berry cheesecake for dessert. Everything was excellent as usual!
Had a great Mother’s Day Lunch and they sweetly gave a rose to every mother. My wife and I both had the petit filet. Sides included the garlic mashed potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, and Mushrooms. The Brussel Sprouts were a little too wilted/ over cooked and overly smothered in a maple, sugar glaze. However it was still good. The potatoes and mushrooms were great, and I loved the blue cheese crust on my steak. Its kind of in the middle of an office park, presumably to have a place for doctors and lawyers to eat so its a little out of the way, but a very good meal all around.
5 Star Experience!! Excellent service from the moment you walk in with an amazing aroma of wonderful food circulating in the air. Food and drink menu had plenty to choose from. My steak was cooked to perfection. The side dishes were also delicious. Then to top it all off the dessert was top tier. I recommend Ruth Chris for an excellent dinning experience.
Our experience at Ruth’s Chris Steak House was excellent from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The lobster tail I ordered was by far the best I’ve ever had. The level of service went above and beyond. From the moment we arrived, the front door was opened for us and we were warmly greeted by the host. We were quickly seated, and throughout dinner, our server and server assistant were incredibly attentive. It felt like they anticipated our needs before we even asked—my drink was being replaced before I finished the last sip. The manager also visited our table several times to make sure everything was perfect, which made the experience feel even more personalized. Overall, both the food and service were outstanding. Ruth’s Chris truly delivers a five-star dining experience.
It was such a lovely experience. We went for my wife's birthday and Patrick was our server. He was very knowledgeable and kind, would definitely recommend him as your server! The food was perfect as well! We got the crab stuffed mushrooms (not pictured) and they were an incredible way to start the meal. Steak was cooked perfectly and sliced like butter. By far, best steak I've ever eaten. I wouldn't change a thing about our experience here. 10/10
My family and I have been to this location a few times and they never disappoint. I would suggest getting the cowboy ribeye with extra butter medium done.
Great experience - arrived right at opening (4:00pm). Atmosphere friendly for family, romantic or business. Seating is ample between tables. Not much of a meat eater, I ordered the spinach/artichoke appetizer dip, sweet potato casserole and topped it off with 'chocolate sin cake'. The sweet potato casserole was by far the best I've had compared to any other restaurant. Spinach dip was warm, plentiful and the bread was toasted to perfection. Need I say anything referencing the 'sin cake'? Lauren was our server whom provided excellent service with a welcoming personality. Highly recommend.
Wonderful steakhouse in Del Mar. We had red wine, artichoke dip, seared ahi, filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes, nut encrusted sweet potatoes, asparagus, Caesar salad, and chocolate torte. Everything was delicious! The servers were attentive and offered good suggestions. It was a splurge, but very good. We will be back!
Come here to celebrate our anniversary and the service and food were so great! We got there about 10 minutes later than our reservation but we called ahead and let them know we were running a little late. The restaurant wasn’t too crowded when we got there around 4:45pm but when we left around 6:30 there was a wait and the entrance was crowded with people. When we got there we waited about 8 minutes to be seated. Our server Rich came by and gave us the menu and brought us some delicious bread and butter. He was so sweet to us all night and kept telling us happy anniversary! We ordered the sizzling crab cakes for an appetizer which were so delicious, warm, fresh and well seasoned crab! We also ordered the cowboy ribeye to share and they brought it to us cut in half already so we didn’t have to share the plate too. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and melted in our mouths. For our sides we had the garlic mashed potatoes and cremini mushrooms. The potatoes were so creamy and delicious, pared with the mushroom that had a bit of grave, it complimented the mash potatoes so well. Needless to say we were too full to finish everything so for dessert we enjoyed some hot green tea. Rich did send us home with a cheese cake as a gift to us, so sweet! The restaurant had a wall of windows with a nice view outside and a bit of ocean view as well that really made the whole experience warm and inviting. Thank you Rich for being so sweet to us! We cannot wait to come back!
The 40oz porterhouse for two and side dishes were all great and cooked properly. We chose creamini mushroom and spinach and it’s not too heavy. We had the best spot in the restaurant and was seated in the middle by the window and had a great view. The wine was smooth and the desert was so rich and for next time we’ll just probably pick one. But since my husband is celebrating his birthday we were given a complimentary desert of our choice. Rich was our waiter and Service was great. Checks on us without even asking anything, maitre’d even came by on our table to check if everything is okay to our liking. A nice place if you want to spoil each other, great for date night, anniversary or any occasion. Price was pricey but you get what you pay for. Definitely looking forward to coming again. An upscale restaurant, Business classy casual attire is preferred. We love it.
David was an outstanding waiter! He was super funny and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious!
Took my wife to Ruth Chris for her Birthday A first for the two of us. Our service experience was beyond our expectations, Richard our server was very professional and answered all of our questions regarding the menu. The calamari was very good, the tentacles were very good. Isn’t with Ruth’s favorite bone in New York…. Wow. The sizzling hot plate is the way to go!! The filet was cooked to perfection, garlic mashed and creamed spinach were both great side dishes. The cream brûlée was spot on, will be ordering 2 for myself next time! Great service, can’t wait to visit again soon.
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse provided an unforgettable experience for our anniversary dinner. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The ambiance was perfect for the occasion – romantic and elegant. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, making excellent recommendations from both the menu and the wine list. The steaks were cooked to perfection, each bite better than the last, and the sides were equally impressive. The highlight of the evening was the surprise dessert, a delightful touch by the staff to celebrate our special day. We left feeling truly pampered and look forward to our next visit. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse made our anniversary not just memorable but extraordinary.
Eugen is amazing. There were a few hiccups, nothing to do with him, and he made everything right without us having to ask. Hands down best server we've ever had. Give this man a raise! Thank you so much for making our Valentines day so perfect!
Typical great food and service. Patrick was our server and was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We started with the Calamari appetizer which was cooked to perfection. Our entrees were a Filet and Cowboy Ribeye. The filet was perfect but the ribeye was slightly overcooked but still great. We shared the mashed potatoes (with extra butter!) and ended the meal with the Creme Brulee which was good, but slightly grainy.
Went to Ruth Chris’ for the first time on Valentine’s day and it was a great experience! They decorated the table with roses and confetti and adhered to our reservation time. Our server, Patrick, was really the star of the night! He helped us pick the best wine to pair our meal with and although it was a busy night, we weren’t forgotten or waited long for our meal. During our visit our requested split plate and steak temperature had a hiccup but the manager and Patrick resolved it with ease and no issues. We had a great time and enjoyed our dinner. Thank you all so much! I will definitely visit again.
The food is phenomenal every time. Eric is the most incredible waiter. Everyone were cognizant and attentive throughout the evening. I would come back just for our waiter ✨️
Went here for dinner after a long workday and it ended up being a pretty solid choice. The place had a relaxed, old-school steakhouse vibe, not too loud, which I liked. I ordered a ribeye cooked medium and it came out close to what I asked for, juicy and well seasoned. Sides were decent, nothing fancy but they did the job, especially the mashed potatoes. Service was friendly, maybe a little slow at peak time, but the staff checked in enough to make sure we were good.
Ruth’s Chris is an upscale American Steakhouse chain serving delicious steaks and accompaniments with a wide wine and cocktail selection. The Happy Hour here is a great value. THE FOOD 🥖 The Bread: The complimentary fresh-baked bread was amazing - hot, with a moist, tender crumb and delicious butter. A real treat to start. 🥩 Steak Sandwich: Delicious. Tender sliced filet served on great garlic bread, topped with béarnaise sauce and fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. 🥩 Filet & Wine: The Happy Hour 6oz Filet was topped with three large shrimp and came with a glass of Daou Cabernet. Simple, delicious, and an excellent value. 🍤 Appetizers: The table enjoyed the spicy shrimp, deep-fried zucchini fries, and slices of seared ahi tuna with cucumber and mustard sauce. SERVICE ⭐️ • Wait Staff: Special thanks to Hunter for the professional service and strong recommendations. • Host Stand: Thank you to Izzy for the helpful phone support and restaurant details before we arrived. THE ATMOSPHERE & LOGISTICS • The Patio: They have a great outdoor patio featuring a long fire pit along the wall, which is perfect for watching the sunset. • Parking: Valet is available, but there is also plenty of free self-parking directly outside. OVERALL A high-quality establishment perfect for a special occasion or business engagement.
I have dined here on two different occasions and the service was great for both! Patrick was our amazing server. Described the dessert menu beautifully. We all got dessert and we were happy we did!
Ruth Chris just never disappoints. We dined out for Thanksgiving and Ruth Chris had a terrific holiday menu available along with the standard menu options. Our family enjoyed the options/selections. Our server. Daniel provided excellent service along with the rest of the Ruth Chris team! Thank you for starting our family holiday season off right!
The Happy Hour is the best! I used to come here weekly for it. The prices are so cheap and the quality does not drop. IT is great for a date night and even a more casual dinner if you go for happy hour. The service is great and everyone is so nice. I have gotten the steak and the burger countless times and they are some of my favorite dishes in the entire world. Highly recommend making a reservation and going.
Mark was incredible and the food was phenomenal. We dined in Saturday November 1st. Extremely attentive server and detailed oriented. Mark helped us decide and put together a delicious memorable dinner. The goat cheese and spinach artichoke dip was a great addition. Thank you for making my long distance boyfriends and I’s last night together perfect!
Rich is THE BEST dining concierge we've ever had. Bursting with personality, inquisitive to our needs, and delivered on all marks. His assistant Jake was on point and Chef Angel absolutely delivered with some off menu requests. To wrap it all up, the restaurant manager visited us twice to ensure all our needs were met. Absolutely phenomenal experience 🙏
First time visiting Ruth's Chris. Their service is awesome. Been to many other prime-grade steakhouses before and usually don't see bone-in filet available that much. So figured I'll give this a try and ordered a bone-in filet and it's delicious. We also ordered the steak and lobster and it's good. In terms of side dishes: The side of mushrooms. is on the salty side. The lobster mac and cheese is also good.
This was a great experience. The food was hot and the customer service was excellent. One of the best things I can say about this location is that it did not carry any pork chops like the Atlanta Markets and the St. Louis Markets. I have not eaten at those markets in a long time because they catered to a different demographic by adding Pork Chops to their menus/selections. Therefore I refrained from going to them. But this location in California off of El Camino Real in Del Mar was amazing and I would go again. Thank you Ruth Chris Team!
Came here for our anniversary and was pleasantly surprised by the ambience and the fact that they printed our day on the menu. Matthew was our server and I’ll give him four out of five stars. Not perfect, but very well done. I got the T-bone and my wife got the New York strip. My T-bone was a touch over done, but hers was perfect so that’s what matters. Also got the Brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and the seared Ahi as an appetizer. They finished off by comping our chocolate cake, which was an absolute perfect ender. If you look at my review The Anaheim location you will see at this was far away a 180 of that experience. If you have the means, I would definitely hit up Ruth Chris, Delmar, and ask for Matthew. Wonderful experience. We will be back for sure.
We really enjoy eating here, which isn't as often as we would like. They haven't disappointed us yet. This review should have been done a couple of months ago when we were here. I thought I had given a review. but apparently not. Anyway, we came here with family and it amazing. Most of the items are ala-carte. It can be a tad pricey; check their menu prices. The steaks are incredible. Great service. If you visit this Ruth Chris, try and request the "lounge" area. It's quaint and quiet. They also have outdoor seating with heaters. Our servers were Mark and Tristan. They did a great job.

The meat was excellent and the complete dish was decadent and rich. Save this place for all your special days. Their wine collection is also very good. They have kid friendly menu as well.

Impressive location, part of „Ruth‘s Chris Steakhouse-chain“. Excellent steaks, perfectly cooked, very good side-dishes, great wine-list. Surprisingly quiet for a steakhouse.

The steak and lobster was divine! They live up to the hype for steak! Service was really good, and we enjoyed the experience overall! Ambiance was pretty standard for casual fine dining. It felt like it perhaps used to be less accessible to the masses, and the decided to scale the fanciness down a bit without reducing prices. Interesting choices, but none the less- food was good. Not sure I'll return anytime soon, but grateful to have had the experience. With some work, my partner could probably execute the meal. Cast iron steak, right? I've never had a crest like that on a steak before though that was quite delightful. Thank you! The lava cake at the end was the biggest portion of anything that we had. It was absolutely gigantic. I was very surprised. We laughed when it arrived at the table. That mixed with the creme brulee was a very sumptuous pairing. I highly recommend getting those desserts with the espresso at the end. One thing I will say, and this might be an unexpected compliment, is that the espresso with serve with a delightful little crystal sugar wand. It was utterly charming. I honestly thought I might return just to have an espresso and a dessert sometime. Possibly not what people return for, but I might If I do choose to come back sometime in the near future.
The staff were all very friendly and nice. The steaks were alright, but didn’t really seem entirely worth their prices, I ordered mine medium rare, which the waiter did repeat back and describe, but what I received was more of a medium to medium well, there was barely any level of pink to it, it was pretty much fully cooked through. The drinks tasted very strongly of their liquor bases, without enough of their described flavors to obscure them, and took the full length of the meal to make it through. The potatoes au gratin were good, and Brussel sprouts were fine. The chocolate cake was the best part of the meal, and the only item that I’d say was great (I only wish it had a bit more raspberry).
I was invited to dine at Ruth’s Chris by Jeff. The ambiance was nice and the food was second to none. Nate our server is very friendly and provided impeccable service for my wife and I. I enjoyed the bone in rib-eye. Our steaks were extremely juicy and flavorful. Some of the best around. I give the service 5 stars and the food 4 only because there were some gaps between courses. Other than that…. Amazing!
Went for the steak cooked in butter of course. We had the filet and rib eye. The Ruth's classics are the best deal on the menu... starter, choice of steak, side, and dessert. The filet was delicious and cooked perfectly. Sides were basic. For dessert the creme brulee was the perfect way to end the meal for something light and not overly sweet. The lava cake is good for someone that likes a really rich, chocolatey dessert. Valet parking for $8 but they have their own lot.
Went twice in a week while on vacation and it was a night and day experience between the 2 visits. The 1st time we sat in the open dining room and had the best meal, experience and top notch service. Last night we were seated in the bar area and the service was poor. We weren’t presented with the Chefs Summer Menu or offered any “what we are known for” hospitality. Just told there are no specials. I knew I wanted the 8oz lobster tail again, it was delicious and the primary reason we wanted to come back! We also enjoyed the Ceasar and the Crème brûlée on the first visit and were looking forward to it again. What happened the rest of the night still has me..frankly, pissed off! There was lots of waiting for what we wanted/needed, had to ask for bread, had to ask for my cocktail to be re-done (it was missing the rim I had the first time and turns out they were out of Tajin…ok fine), had to ask to place our order, had to ask for forks after salad course, table was not cleared or cleaned and when it was, it was something we wanted to keep and take as leftovers, no napkins under drinks/water glasses, never asked if we wanted dessert or really ANYTHING else -we were always the ones doing the asking…. Except when they dropped the check, we didn’t ask for that because we wanted dessert and coffee! What fine dining establishment doesn’t ask if you want another drink or ask if you want dessert? I kept checking my watch thinking is it close to closing? I was trying to figure out what was happening? Are they afraid we aren’t going to pay? What planet are we on where you drop $500 for 2 meals for 2 in one week and on the one hand leave happy and wanting to repeat the meal, to now, never wanting to go back! I dropped a nice review for them Wednesday morning on X and now I’m angered enough to be spending my Saturday morning recanting last nights nightmare on Google. The food is fantastic, make a reservation and sit in the main dining room. As for us we won’t be sitting in either again.
Service by far was the best part of our meal. It is rare in today's culture to find servers for any meal period that have a passion for the job. The management team here should be commended for the adherence of quality guest satisfaction. The food quality was decent with the steaks being cooked perfectly to order. Although in my opinion the reliance on butter in the seasoning is a little much. The sides were only okay in taste and did not seem to have the attention to detail of the beef.
Overall, it was a nice and romantic experience. The staff was beyond friendly. The decor and ambiance was gorgeous. Although we sat inside, the outdoor seating looked like the way to go. There was a wall of fire out there that looked so nice and regal while guests were dining. The steak, mashed potatoes, and lobster bisque was good..... nothing to write home about, but good. The calamari as an appetizer was absolutely delicious. It's the best we've ever had. The margarita was also tasty. Overall, I give it a 4/5!
Let me say we really enjoyed our dinner and our server Rich was excellent and worked extremely hard to keep everything moving right along and take care of us. Now starting when we arrived, we noticed the reservation desk turned away a couple that came in without reservations. I later thought that was strange because they had plenty of empty tables available while we were there. I didn't hear them offer to seat them in the bar either. Our shrimp cocktail was great and the salads were the best. When they brought out our steak they placed it in front of us and said enjoy and walked away. No side dishes were brought out so we started eating the steak while it was still hot. We ordered it cooked medium and it was a little over cooked but no complaints on the meat. We finally got all the side dishes delivered to the table, some of which were not very hot. We were half way through our steak by then. The side dishes, garlic mashed, baked potato, spinach, etc. were very good. We all got Creme Brulee for desert. It was excellent but we noticed it is now being served in a smaller dish - which was okay with all of us. We definitely noticed that the staff at Ruths Chris on the floor was not the same as before. Usually they have people running around refilling your glasses and picking up dishes and silverware when you are finished with those items. Our waiter actually had to help refill the glasses and take dishes off the table. No one ever came by to scrape the crumbs off the table like they use to do. Service was really a noticeable difference from all the other times we have been to Ruths Chris. Maybe they just can't find the people to help them right now due to the economy, etc. Prices are about the same or slightly higher than our previous visit. Again, our server Rich was the best and really made the meal quite pleasant. Of course, we are coming back in a month or two.
Came here recently for a birthday. It was pretty good. Good no frills steak house. Kind of an isolated location. Took about 5 minutes before the hostess got to the front to greet us. Food was good, I ordered a medium steak but am usually fine with medium rare but parts of my steak were blue rare. I wish there was an easier way to walk from the parking lot to the restaurant instead of having to walk around the curb.
Great restaurant Ruth Chris in Del Mar is very nice great atmosphere great service Ruth Chris steaks are alway delicious the mashed potatoes are good the mac n cheese was delicious very creamy my wife loved her fillet mignon and lobster tail was sweet however she did not care for the lobster bisque and thought the au gratin potatos were good Overall very good not great little pricey but it is fancy and parking was easy
My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner. The waiter Greg was super awesome. The only downside was wife did not enjoy her food but we both really enjoyed the crème brûlée. We were completely compensated for the make up for my wife’s food, she ordered the stuffed chicken since she did not want to eat red meat late, but the compensation allowed us to still enjoy our moment.
I would first like to state that the food here was absolutly phenomenal and it mad for an amazing dinner on Valentine’s Day. Sadly the host took the liberty of treating me and my dad significantly differently then the rest of the clients I believe due to our age both of us being college age. I found the lack of attention he paid to us and toward explaining the menu compared to other clients I heard him give multiple other couples on their dates full exposes about the dinner and what cut of steak is what and where but we didn’t receive any of that and the dismissive comments were quite off putting. There service was not bad whatsoever it was the fact that compared to the rest of the people there we were treated differently. Just because someone is young doesn’t mean we cannot tip but when you treat us differently it makes it hard to justify tipping as much as I typically would.
We went during lunch for their special holiday hours. Which was nice for our family with littles. Usually they are NOT open for lunch. Service was friendly and attentive. The waiter made sure we had everything we needed. We came with 3 littles, and even gave our littles ice cream on the house. :) Steak is delicious and always comes out hot. This is very much appreciated. All the sides were good. My only critique is that the restaurant needs a little better upkeep. I could see a bunch of missing nail/screws on the stairs. The restaurant had a smell of older carpet. There was a lot of chipped/faded paint. The chairs are chipped and we're not properly wiped down. Blinds were frayed. Cloths were stained.
They don't answer the phone. Repeatedly called to confirm the 3 Course for $60 meal availability and after leaving vmail earlier in the day (no callback), tried 5 more times - only getting vmail.\nNo…

Came here for a dinner night. Had a reservation but still had to wait a bit to get seated. The steak was great but was disappointed with the lobster mac and cheese.

I was disappointed. It's not that it's bad, it's just doesn't live up to expectations. I was here for a banquet and everything was okay, but for the price you pay you'd think it would be out of this world. I make this good of steaks at home. Overall it was a nice venue, had the things necessary for the event, service was good, but the food was meh.
This Ruth's Chris over looks the freeway which makes a lot of noise if going for a alfresco dining experience. Steak is nice. The au gratin potatoes are not great as they are cut into chunks and covered in cheddar. We waited 20 min for our salads to come out but other than that the meal was fine. Average steakhouse.
My cousin was visiting from NY and took me here for my birthday because she was craving steak. Ruth Chris in NY is fabulous. She ordered steak medium rare but there was no pink at all. They were quick to replace but this time steak was rare. Just too bloody. Cousin could not eat it so they took it off our bill and gave us 2 desserts on the house. My sea bass was good but something tasted too salty. Maybe the sauteed onions and mushrooms? Maybe the brussel sprouts? The service was outstanding but the chef must have had an off day. Too expensive to not get exactly what you want.
We had a reservation for New Year's Eve, and had requested a booth early on, but when we arrived, not only we didn't we get a booth, but we were sort of smooshed into a two seater table and corner,…
Food was very bland. service was ok, nothing exceptional. Entre's served before we had finished salad. Highly overrated.

I've been here a bunch and it's really hit or miss on the service. The food is consistently good but I just don't get it with the servers. I dress well, wear my expensive watch, blah blah blah and …
Third bad experience in a row... Used to be a favorite, no more, at least in this location based on experiences in last 2 years. Last night we got cold potatoes (actually cold to the touch) and my preferred black and blue rare was almost well done. It's should be a crime to serve a fillet well done... In a group this time so even rare or medium rare would be acceptable, but well done with cold potatoes. A shame. Picture attached. Unfortunately having to lower my review. Went last night and had my first negative experience at a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in my life. Being a fan for well over 30 years was a big disappointment. The food actually came out at room temperature. The ribeye steak was a brown not sizzling overcooked mess. The steak was quickly corrected by staff. Even they could see the problem quickly when served when we just looked at them and the steak. The offer to correct were instant without asking. But the creamed spinach and baked potato were also room temperature at best when served and even cooler when the hot steak arrived. How can a baked potato be not hot? Must have sat before being served for a long time... Must have been their B team working. The salad was also poorly made lacking its normal quality. On the positive side, the cocktails and wine were terrific and the view and dining area in Del Mar are beautiful.
Honest review. 1. Steaks are good but too expensive...worth it not sure.. 2.Service, we had all kinds of people doing different functions for us and they forgot the birthday boy's dessert ...forgot our expresso....forgot too many things..served us dessert and we waited a while for utensils.....birthday boy did not feel special.... 3. But the real reason that I'm posting this was the NOISE....no one at our table could hear what the other was saying....too bad ..it was like having dinner at a rock concert...insane amount of noise...if I go back I'll eat at the bar...it seemed quiter..too bad... 4. We requested a booth to be more intimate we got a table in the middle of the restaurant... 5. We had reservations...but they made us wait a good 15 mins... 6. It was freezing ...AC was on high so needed to keep my jacket on the entire evening...
The Baked Stuffed Chicken was on the bone and I was hoping for a breast. I am not sure what the stuffing was. It tasted like cheese rather than breadcrumbs t stuffing but it was not a pleasant texture and I didn't care for the taste. At least I could scoop out the stuffing because it was on the bone. The actual chicken was decent but too salty. I'm a spinach lover but their creamed spinach tasted revolting. My husbands filet minion was okay, but not a good value. First time at Ruth Chris and it felt like it was an over priced gloried chain restaurant! Not impressed. Go to Morton's downtown instead. It felt less like a chain and a great place for a small business conference.

Coming off an amazing experience at a Ruth's Chris in Denver my bf and I were really excited to go again. We were looking forward to the cocktails. I had the Reyes Rita and my bf had the Gamblers Old Fashion. The Reyes Rita is supposed to have a Tajin rim, but was brought to our table with a salt rim. Our server apologized and took it back to the bartender who decided to not fully rim the glass. It was also much heavier on the jalapeno than the Denver location. Overall the drink was not worthy of $17. I switched to wine after that. My bf's old fashioned came out on the rocks instead of a block of ice. When we asked if they had block ice available the manager said they only have a few molds and had run out...they open at 4 and we had drinks served to us by 6.... I was really disheartened by this point. My bf switched to a bourbon neat. Onto the food. I ordered the petit filet medium plus per the servers suggestion based on my preference. It came out well done. My bf ordered the cowboy ribeye - medium, it too came out overcooked. When it came to dessert I couldn't take anymore disappointment so we opted to skip it. Our server could tell we weren't happy so she said she would talk to the manager. He came over and apologized and said they took $25 off the bill. Which is fine, we weren't looking for a discount. We would have preferred to spend $25 more dollars and have a great experience. The real kicker to the night after spending over $200 was when we were walking out to leave, we passed the manager and he refused to make eye contact or say anything to us. Never again Del Mar.
We had a very disappointing experience during our visit. The service/food was below expectations, and it really affected our evening. After the manager contacted us, she said she would send something in the mail and took all my personal information, but unfortunately nothing ever arrived. This isn't worth it - go somewhere else!
Disappointing Experience - Inconsistent Quality and Service This restaurant has managed to disappoint me for the third time in a row. I have given them multiple chances, but it's clear that they don't care about getting things right. I ordered my steak cooked to medium plus, and once again, it came out rare. While everyone else at my table was enjoying their meals, I was left not able to eat my steak. The lack of consistency in both the quality of the food and the service is unacceptable. It's incredibly frustrating to have to send my meal back every single time I dine here. This will definitely be my last visit to this establishment. There are plenty of other restaurants that can get a simple steak order right the first time. Save yourself the trouble and dine elsewhere. The pict below is after I heated up my $80.00 bone in ribeye at home and it is still raw!
⭐☆☆☆☆ Absolutely Unacceptable – Ruined My Birthday Today, December 22, 2025, I had one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had at Ruth’s Chris Steak House – Carmel Valley. I had a confirmed reservation for 6:45 PM, yet when we arrived, we were told to wait over one hour. That alone is ridiculous. What made it worse is that no one ever came to check on us, explain anything, or try to fix the situation. We were left sitting there hungry and ignored like we didn’t matter. The host at the front desk was rude, dismissive, and clearly didn’t care about customer service at all. Her response was simply, “You have to wait,” with no apology and no explanation. If reservations mean nothing, then don’t offer them. To make this even more unacceptable, today was my birthday, and instead of celebrating, I was left frustrated and disrespected. This location completely failed at the most basic level of hospitality. This is bad, bad, BAD service. I will never return and will never recommend this Ruth’s Chris to anyone. Management should be ashamed of how guests are treated here. Save your money and go somewhere that actually respects its customers.
Disappointing experience at Ruth’s Chris Del Mar. My guest and I waited nearly an hour before our meals were finally served. The atmosphere had an unpleasant smell, more like a butcher shop than a fine dining restaurant. I ordered the ribeye, which came out greasy and appeared to have been fried in oil — the oil was still visible on the steak. For the prices charged, I expected a much higher standard of quality and service. Unfortunately, this visit was far below the usual Ruth’s Chris experience.
