Awesome place. I love coming here to watch big football (soccer) games—the atmosphere is incredible. If you’re coming for a game, make sure to arrive early because it fills up fast. Even outside of game days, it’s a great spot. I came with work friends for a birthday lunch, and the food was very good—well presented, filling, and reasonably priced. I had the fish and chips with a Guinness, and it exceeded my expectations. My friend’s burger also looked great and tasted excellent. Highly recommend either option.

We went for the fish and chips, and we were not disappointed. The generous portion of cod was perfectly cooked. The french fries too were excellent, although there was much more than there needed to be! This dish could be shared by two people. The freeway noise was there which attracted a little bit but didn't prevent us from being able to have a conversation.

I’ve been coming here for years! One of my favorite pubs in San Diego and California overall. I live in Los Angeles and anytime I’m in the mood for creamy well poured pints of Guinness, delicious food and soccer games, this is where I come to! I literally drive at 4am to SD from LA to catch EPL!

I went there for a lunch meeting with some colleagues, and we were all excited to sit out on the patio. It’s a great way to get away from the office. Two of us had fish and chips, one of us had a chicken salad, and I had the Cobb salad. We all enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere was nice and the freeway traffic was not too loud. The other people on the patio weren’t too loud either. The service was friendly and timely. It’s been many years since I’ve been here and I’m glad that I came back for lunch.

The fish and chips are highly recommended just be prepared to wait a while for them to be served. It should be noted, it is worth the wait! Excellent location to have a pint and watch a football match!

Very authentic British Pub, owned and operated by British Ex-Pats! Has the warm, welcoming, lively ambience of a local British pub! A classic, public house, gathering place! I have come back many times, and each time was a wonderful experience! Very delicious, classic British food and drink! All of the menu items are made from scratch. The authentic Fish and Chips has won numerous awards, including Best Fish & Chips in the U.S. in 2017, and San Diego’s Best Fish & Chips. Delicious desserts, such as Sticky Toffee Pudding, Traditional Apple Crumble, and Chef’s Cheesecake! Extensive selection of Irish and British draught beers, ciders, and cocktails! The Shakespeare Draught Samples offer flights of beer for a variety of tastes. Weeknight, Lunch, Sunday, and Happy Hour Specials! Very attentive, very friendly, helpful staff! Many of the staff are British Ex-Pats. Very well run restaurant, with smooth, efficient service! Indoor pub dining, and outdoor patio dining with a view of the downtown San Diego skyline. Great for watching sports, especially soccer. The decor inside is English Tudor style wood. Their website has parking tips; 10-minute drive to the Airport. Their slogan is well-chosen: “Welcome, Enter As Strangers Leave As Friends.” Shakespeare’s Corner Shoppe, adjoining the restaurant, provides “Everything from Britain without the weather.” The Shoppe features British and Irish groceries, English Bakery, English Café patio, souvenirs, clothing, china, and English bone china rental. The Shoppe also features delightfully British, traditional Afternoon Tea at The Britannia Tearooms.

The night we were here we went inside to get a table and the staff seemed surprised we were there. They waved us to the patio and said they had an event inside so pick anything outside. Once we found a spot it took a while for a server to get to our table. It turned out our server was covering the entire patio on her own, which was at least 13 tables plus a counter with stools. I didn’t get her name but she was very pleasant and professional, in spite of having way too many tables to cover. She brought our drinks right away after we ordered and our food arrived surprisingly quickly. The food was really quite good and the portions were more than generous. Our server eventually got some help outside as the patio remained full of customers. I would definitely go back and hope on the next visit they manage their staffing a little better.

An absolute gem of a place, and we also love the shop! I recommend to lots of people but I would say we go more for the experience than the food. The last few times I’ve had the fish and chips, I felt like the fish could have been fresher and the batter lighter. With a few tweaks it could be perfect.

Very authentic and cozy British pub. The staff are amazing people and super friendly. Great selection of beers and foods and the shop nearby is an awesome extra stop. However, the food itself was dissapointing. We went for the Friday night fish special and the fish, chips, and peas were all very bland. Super dissapointing as otherwise this is a 5 star experience place. Fish needed more seasoning, chips lacked a good fry and had no flavour and peas also had no flavour. Overall, would recommend this place as I do believe there are other options on menu which could be good, service is nice and atmosphere is great. However, do not expect San Diego's best fish and chips.

We came for the famous fish and chips. They were good not great. Cooked properly, crispy and moist but a little bland. We added lemon, malt vinegar, and salt and that made it better.
