Opinions de Torque Coffee San Diego
This place is a must stop. My favorite things are their mushroom & goat cheese empanada and Royal Ruzu. The staff are so friendly and they’re very community forward. They have an assortment of coffees you can buy and take home ranging from Costa Rica to Ethiopia. I’m stopping by here every time I visit San Diego!
The velvety Banana-Bourbon Latte (with my chosen Ethiopia espresso) is mouth watering and will bring me back.❤️☕️ Flavors come through but are not overwhelmed by banana, which I was afraid was a possibility but wanted to try to see what the bourbon flavor was like. Very happy that I did! The bourbon flavor comes through subtly as well - perfect🏆 Can't wait to go back and try the Dark Chocolate flavor. I like that you can choose which type of espresso or coffee will go in your drink, so you can shape the flavor to your preference. 👍 Torque Coffee is hidden in plain sight - easily accessible on El Cajon Blvd, but also worth going out of your way for! Very appealing and inviting space. Comfortable seating including really nice counter seating looking out the window. Great place to go to read quietly, meet with people, or work. Really cool decor and retail as well - definite vibe 🙌 The buttermilk biscuit 🧈 has a wonderful strong buttermilk flavor, and a moist crumbly texture. This isn't a dinner roll and it's not a flaky pastry: this is a real biscuit. Served with a sweet rhubarb jam that is a perfect complement to the tangy buttermilk. Tastes like it's made with whole buttermilk - not the low-fat buttermilk you find in grocery stores now. Deeelish! 🙌 The GOAST Toast has artisan quality bread and a delicious intriguing combination of flavors: tomato jelly, Scratch House vegan “goat cheese”, & oak-aged balsamic. Delectable. Normally it comes with a Za'ataar spice but I skipped that. Everything here is fresh and tasty. Staff/managers/owners are super friendly and helpful, enthusiastic about educating, and will help you make a selection to meet your taste. Love the fact they have chosen to use sustainable, biodegradable, plastic-free, compostable packaging. My cup and lid are made w bamboo 💐🌳🌎💋 Legit award-winning coffees 🏆🙌💋 Can do mobile orders!! ✅️🚗🚙 10/10 🏆🙌❤️
Today I stopped by this coffee shop on my friend’s recommendation. We decided to try the coffee, and I had an iced latte. Honestly, I really enjoyed it — the coffee was great. They also have a large selection of coffee beans available for purchase — different kinds and sizes of Arabica beans you can brew at home. There are also lots of accessories and various drinks for sale. I liked the atmosphere. The only downside is that there aren’t many seats — just five small tables inside and a couple more outside. But overall, space was enough. The coffee truly stood out — high quality and delicious. One of the best I’ve had in the city. I’m happy to recommend this place to everyone. The service was quick and pleasant, and my overall experience was nothing but positive. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again.
I love this place! local coffee shop with amazing vegan friendly selections, adorable merch & gorgeous local art on the walls. I feel so safe and seen in this space as a bipoc queer femme! if you’re queer, love coffee, and want to support a local spot that has strong values- definitely check this place out! :)
Best cortado I've had in San Diego. Service was friendly and coffee was perfection, Marcelessa is very "cozy". I will definitely return here for a cortado fix.
Third time coming in here! Ordered an espresso and a cortado of their Anaerobic Natural Costa Rica Black Diamond this morning, and the whole order was absolutely delicious it hit all the flavor notes! Torque Coffee is the place to go if you’re looking for a specialty espresso or pour-over. Shoutout to Michelle & Taylor, who show such care and attention to detail that’s rare to find it truly comes through in both the taste and presentation (they even preheat the SPRO cup if you’re ordering in-house!). It’s easy to see why Torque is a neighborhood favorite — I always look forward to my next visit!
Not only are their roasted whole beans delicious, their drinks are always on point. The baristas warm and friendly vibes are always such a treat!
Hands down best espresso in San Diego - FINALLY a proper cortado 🙏🏼 will be coming back! LOVE the vibes here
A coffee shop for real aficionados! Great coffee roasting selections with also great breakfast options; they even have some great wine selections if you want to turn it into brunch.
My macchiato was delicious and it's a great place to sit and enjoy a coffee. Great cold brew too. Staff were super friendly and are obviously passionate about great coffee. They have a ton of beans, teas, and elixirs to take home as well. There's a fun vending machine with random stuff in it, with some items by local artists! Torque is a must try for coffee lovers!
I love the vibe they give off when you enter the shop and the choice of adventure will change your idea of what kind of coffee or matcha order you originally wanted! Check it out!
After a trip to Belgium I was eager to have a proper leige waffle and Torque coffee delivered a fantastic example of one! The coffee is fancy (just the way a coffee snob likes at :D) and the coffee merch and gear is also very cool. Had a big complicated order and they were nice enough to fresh roast a couple big bags of beans for me.
An absolute gem for coffee lovers! This shop offers a fantastic selection of fresh-roasted beans that satisfy any taste, whether you’re a gourmet enthusiast or just after a quality cup. The coffee is rich, balanced, and thoughtfully crafted, with service that’s warm and welcoming. They even help you choose the right beans for your coffee machine, making sure you get the perfect brew at home. For anyone who loves a great coffee experience, this place is a must-visit!

Great service and fantastic beans. Some of the best coffee in all of San Diego!

Some of the best coffee I’ve ever had and great atmosphere and friendly employees
Torque Coffee is amazing! They have a great selection of well roasted beans, make amazing drinks, and their service is unlike any other coffee shop I’ve ever been to. Such a lovely little spot 😊
The atmosphere is relaxed, with soul music in the background, and the staff are super friendly. I had the perfect creamy steamed milk cappuccino 👌🏼 Also the takeout cups are bamboo, bonus points!
Lowkey coffee shop with the coolest vibes. Great service and awesome espresso selection. Although we were just stopping by in the area, I will definitely take note to revisit next time! Highly recommend the figgy pudding. Thanks guys!
It was my first time in and had a lot of questions, but the baristas were both very kind, patient, and knowledgeable. They helped me order a drink for my friend (banana bourbon latte) and she was super satisfied. I got a Sparkle Party (best drink name EVER) with Palo Santo honey and it was fantastic. The barista on bar(apologies for not asking your name) had a true understanding and appreciation for the flavor notes in the different roasts and paired them perfectly with our drinks. As a former barista of 18 years, 10/10 recomended. Great atmosphere and best coffee I have had in years!
Yall come on over here already! They got organic milk and tons of fun options. Dont wanna put the name out in public BUT damn the barista with the cool hair colors IS AWESOME and deserves a raise. Cheers!
Always a great experience to go with a some fun flavors and an amazing selection of beans. Also their matcha & hojicha drinks are my gf’s favorite! ProTip: checkout the vending machine when you walk in!
My friend picked up a banana bourbon for me this morning as a surprise. Having moved back to the states this year after being gone for 3 years ive noticed an influx of coffee shops and an decline in quality. This place absolutely holds up to the classic flavor and ideal. 10/10 absolutely love!

I ordered a large Palo Santo latte with gluten free oatmilk. The coffee was rich and creamy but lacked the little foam. It was nothing extraordinary but it was good. I've tried going here a few times before but parking is difficult to find. Today I found parking so i stopped by. Although it was good. I dont think I will be coming back. I can find this grade of coffe in many other coffee shops. I give it a 3.7 out of 5.
Great lil vegan cafe! Everything is sourced intentionally or made in-house. Their seasonal spring drink has a plum and strawberry reduction and is best iced. Coffee beans and honey for lattes is sourced from a Guatemalan farm, and 20% of each cup goes back to the farmers. No extra cost for alt milk. Plus ft. local artists’ merch! My latte was a tad too sweet for me but prob what everyone else would like. A great buttermilk biscuit (housemade is so much better) and delicious tomato jam on my Brik brekkie biscuit. Breakfast food options on the smaller side. Love the staff and the music taste 🤘🌿

I got the Thrilli Vanilli which tasted like coffee flavored water with a little bit of fall spice walked by the drink. Very poor. My friends got an espresso and an iced latte which I tried and were infinitely better than my drink. Those redeemed my pretty poor beverage. I will give this place another try though.
