Always fresh and delicious fare. Karen who does the catering orders is a lifesaver!! I had ordered a ton of food for my office but had many people out sick, and she seamlessly amended my order last minute for me, no muss no fuss. Couldn't recommend more!
I first tried the banh mi from Bun Mee at SFO and was hooked. Their baguettes have the perfect balance of crunchiness and chewiness, and the quality of the other ingredients at the FiDi location were consistent. I only wish they were open on the weekends as well, as they’re so conveniently located compared to the other SF locations.
The food is very good, clean, and comes up fast. Prices are moderate, about $10 for a very good sandwich. Surroundings are intimate and shabby-chic. A classic California interpretation of Vietnamese. They have a killer happy hour 3-6 pm weekdays, worth a visit for sure. My one caveat is that drinks are at a premium here, not a lot of free water or soda fountains sitting around. Be prepared to buy a bottle of something or pay for the ice tea dispenser.
Had the Rainbow Bowl (a salad) with five spice chicken. Incredible. Super fresh, light, packed with flavor. Will be back. The fried chicken bun looks amazing. Fair prices.
We stopped by Bun Mee for Vietnamese food and had an excellent time! Ordered the 5 spice chicken sandwich, Sloppy Bun, and the Bun Bowl with Shrimp. The food is delicious, filling, and great for a quick bite. The service was great and the servers were polite and warm. Highly recommend!
Bumped into Bun Mee on my way to catch the train back over the bridge. The interior decor is simple and super hip and it has a little al fresco dining area out front. On this visit I ordered the rainbow salad with chicken and avocado, and the garlic fries. The salad came with dressing, but the pickled carrots were so flavorful that it didn't really need dressing and I ended up eating the whole thing without it. The garlic fries were like no fries I've ever had before. They come with grilled onions and jalapenos mixed in, which I found absolutely delightful. I will definitely be back to try the salt and pepper fried chicken!
Great banh mi! Fast and casual Vietnamese food. This place has great flavor and local flair. I had the belly bun and summer rolls. Friendly service and fair pricing make this a favorite.
I ordered through the Allset app and my food was ready before I arrived. They seem quite organized. The place was clean, service was good and employees were friendly. Busy and long line during lunchtime, but still had places to sit. This is the vegan brown rice bowl. Tasty!
This location of Bun Mee was fantastic! Tasty sandwich and friendly staff. Siracha on the table. I stopped by after shopping at the Japanese sweets shop next door and was very happy with my lunch. Definitely worth a stop. Tables, counter, and some outdoor tables.
Simple and delicious Vietnamese eats with a few twists. I got the smokey eggplant Bun Mee and asked to make it vegetarian, yum! Great flavour and the perfect bun, really reminded me of my time in Hoi An. friendly and speedy service you won't be disappointed for the price.
Lemongrass today banh mi was delicious. Really appreciated the extra zing on the veggies. See Sammy cross section below.
The catfish banh mi peaked my interest, and since it is a chain I went in with skepticism, but it went well above my expectations. The fish was flaky and moist, and the baguette did not sand-paper my mouth. Of course I had to grab an iced coffee on the side. A tad on the sweeter side, but not unbearable. Overall it is a notch more expensive for banh mi, but not many places have catfish banh mi (that I've seen) so would come again!

This was my first experience with this sort of restaurant and I have very little experience with this type of food in general but I went with a coworker who highly recommended it and he pointed me towards the peanut pork bowl. The sandwiches are supposed to be great as well but I have been trying to avoid breads. The bowl I got was great. Definitely a great first experience for me. I was also intrigued and pleasantly surprised by the healthy soda I tried that was a vanilla cream soda sweetened with agave. The one down side is that it's all quite pricey for lunch even at SF standards.
The place looks like it would be awesome...and it's not bad, but the bowls that I've gotten a couple of times taste good but are just heavy. It would be better if the food was a little lighter/healthier. Maybe that's just how Vietnamese food is...I don't know for sure. I haven't tried their sandwiches, but they're supposed to be pretty good. Overall it's good, just make sure to get there early to beat the lunch rush
I stopped in for a quick lunch while I was in San Francisco for a conference and I got the combo sandwich and some limeade. It seemed like a long wait for my sandwich, but that might be the norm in San Francisco. My sandwich was tasty, and I especially liked the crispy bread, though it could have been spicier. The limeade was really, really sweet so I didn't finish it. If I was in the area, I would eat here again.
I had the pork banh mi and Vietnamese iced coffee, and both tasted great. Giving 4 star though because just those two totaled $20. Which is too pricey for banh mi.
5 spice chicken sandwich was ok only because the slaw was a little overpowering the taste of the chicken. The Vietnamese cream cloud was absolutely delicious. Bold smooth and creamy with the perfect balance of coffee and sugar. Service was good and staff really keep up cleanliness. I gave it four stars because Saigon Bistro in Concord tops it with $8 delicious sandwiches and it’s ran and owed by Vietnamese.
The pork bánh mì was pretty tasty and exceeded my expectations which are pretty low for these types of places. Too much carrot and needs more cilantro for my taste. It was my first visit and I'm very picky about my Vietnamese food like I have to drive 40+ miles to get some good Vietnamese food. I didn't realize it didn't already include pate which for $8 it should. I can get bigger sandwiches in Little Saigon San Jose for half the cost but, of course, it's a long drive for me. Would I come back probably but only during their happy hours 3-6 pm in which these sandwiches are a more reasonable $5 and beer only $3.50.
This is a nice little Vietnamese spot that is super convenient for lunch. The sandwich options are great and I really like the 5 spice chicken and combo sandwich. The presentation within is excellent with neat layers of carrots, cucumbers. They ask you if you want jalapenos, everything else is default. The taste and flavors were good. Not many seating spots for dine-in especially during the busy lunch hour.
The location of this place is definitely convenient to public transit and many offices in the city, so it seems like a common lunch spot. They have vegan options, including as far as I can tell, the tofu bahn mi and eggplant bahn mi (substituting soy mayo). I got the tofu bahn mi through MealPal and it appears to be the normal size, which is nice, and the sandwich itself was good. It doesn't seem like a traditional Vietnamese place, but I don't have a problem with that. The sauce used was a little too sweet for my taste, partly because the carrots already add a good amount of sweetness, but the tofu was sufficiently crispy and flavorful. I also liked that the bread wasn't too thick (it may have been hollowed out) so the tasty inside of the sandwich were more noticeable. I definitely appreciate the spice of the jalapenos, but it is something to consider if you don't enjoy spicy food. I have to give this four stars because Dinosaurs, which has a few locations in the city and serves similar food, just does a better tofu bahn mi in my opinion. Their tofu is shredded and fried to create a wonderful texture that is more interesting than just marinating it. In any case, the sandwich packaging here (shown in the attached photos) was noticeably well-designed aesthetically. Too many places have succumbed to using a plain white paper or similar, so this was an added touch that made the food feel a tiny bit more premium.
The sandwich tasted pretty good and fresh. I’d definitely recommend if you are looking for a quick, filling and cheap snack. The chicken burger wasn’t as good as the sandwich.
Very convenient location with friendly and fast service. Reasonable portions. Slightly overpriced in my opinion for the foods served - about $26 before tip for a standard bowl and regular vietnamese iced coffee.
I really enjoyed their happy hour special the dragon claw. The catfish was fried well and plated on a bed of lettuce, jalapeños, red onions and cilantro. Their spicy mayo definitely had more sriracha than mayo. I also ordered a strawberry lychee lemonade which was yummy and refreshing. I think the happy hour items are a great deal.

On the pricey side with a gentrified twist of banh mi. You don't find some of the popular OG banh mi here and it's probably rightfully so to meet the taste for the demographic of the area. Even the menu names are a bit "Americanized" Order the steak banh mi that comes with a side of pho broth. Love having broth to drip banh mi into as it softens up the baguette but didn't worry about that here as the bread wasn't that great and came pretty soft like a roll. The pho broth was okay as well. Definitely not my go to spot to get a banh mi The decor is very nice and service was good. You go up and order, you get your food dropped off if your dining in and you take your items to the sorting area to compost, recycle and drop off you try.
I was in FiDi and needed something quick and cheap before I headed to the airport to avoid paying for overprice and non-edible airport food. It wasn’t cheap and though I didn’t have to wait super long, it took them longer to make my sandwich than I anticipated considering there wasn’t too many people there. I thought I’d try something new and go for the Sloppy Bun which has red curry ground beef, garlic mayo, onions, basil and jalapenos. I was a little disappointed as there was barely any curry flavor which I was really hoping for and the ground beef was just whatever. The bread was just alright. Usually I’ll cut the sandwich some slack if the bread is really good, but it was alright. Overall, expect to pay nearly $10 for a modernized bahn mi.
The bun mee roll was nice. Good bread mostly good filings. I reckon I'd skip the mortadella no idea why you'd put that in bun mee. After taste of hot mortadella is not ok. Lost them a star as it developed while I sat her writing this review. They reckon their jalapeno is hot but yeah nah, not hot mate.
Worth it for the price but wouldn't be my top choice for sandwiches. I had the lemongrass pork sandwich, the pork was really flavorful and nicely cooked. I added a fried egg (highly recommend you to do the same) which gave the sandwich more moisture. I also had the fries which was nicely seasoned but fries felt over fried and left out for a while. My friend had the chicken salad, again the meat was good but the salad itself was okay, not dressed enough.
This is an interesting take on the normal lunch sandwich! I tried the Hanoi-Style Crispy Catfish sandwich. It didn't blow me away but it was definitely tasty! And, the service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely go back to try their other 8 different sandwich options.
A good choice is need to grab something quick @ Market Street. The place is clean, service is fast and friendly. I opted for the grilled pork Bun Mee and my friend had the fresh spring rolls with toffu which she really loved. The grilled pork was tasty but maybe i'm not just a Bun Mee person as I didn't find the sandwich that great to come back for it. But overall experience was nice. The seating area inside is pretty cute. They shut at 2:30 sharp!
Modern Vietnamese fast food. Tried the sweet potato fries, sweet and crispy. Never had banh mi served like this, with a fried egg on top. Something new and tasted pretty decent.

I had the pork bun and lemon grass pork sandwiches. The pork bun was far too sour. The pork in the sandwich lacked the typical rich favor. The atmosphere and service were great. I recommend keeping the employees but adjusting the pork seasoning as well as the sauce that comes with the bun (more fish sauce and less lime?).
Overall, pretty disappointed for a $10 sandwich. I was originally going to Cafe Dolci, but they had run out of banh mi. I quickly looked up a place and chose here. I noticed the outdoor seating and the trendy decor. I went in and immediately saw the difference in pricing listed on yelp. Sandwiches were $9+ and other items were more expensive. I saw they have a happy hour from 3pm-6pm, where sandwiches were $6, but for dine in only. It seemed pricey, but a lot of people were eating here after 2pm, so it can't be that bad. I ordered the five spice chicken sandwich and it came to be $10 total. I waited about 10 minutes before it came out. The sandwich was so small for the price I paid. I guess I should have expected this, since it is in the heart of the financial district and on market street. The sandwich was ok. I'm not sure why but half of it was spicy?? The bread was super toasted and extremely crunchy. The chicken seemed to be a little greasy, but not that much sauce. I was pretty disappointed in this sandwich for the price. I felt that the sandwich was small and only okay. I might come here for their happy hour prices, but most likely will not come back.

Underseasoned and overcooked. And, just to ice the cake of mediocrity with the frosting of carelessness, they forgot my iced coffee. I know lunch service in this town is a joke, but can we at least get the drink orders put together correctly?
