Opinions de Cioppino's San Francisco
Drove to San Francisco just to go to Cioppino's! It was worth the drive from Stockton, just to sit and enjoy this fantastic dish on a breezy Saturday. The Clams/Mussels were perfect; not too soft or firm. Perfect portions of Crab and Shrimp. Let's not forget about those scallops; as they have been MARINATING in that tasty Tomato Soup/Broth. I just wish these dishes came with more bread!!! More than enough for two people to get full. Right off the Pier and plenty of patio tables.
I was blown away by their cioppino! The dish was packed with fresh seafood, perfectly cooked, and swimming in a rich, flavorful tomato broth. Each bite was a burst of ocean freshness, balanced beautifully with herbs and spices. It’s clear they use high-quality ingredients and take great care in preparation. If you’re a seafood lover, this cioppino is a must-try—warm, hearty, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!
I love this place, parking is a challenge, but once you arrive, staff will seat you at your table. Menu had a variety of selection, if you don't eat seafood, they've got you covered. I enjoy coming here for the spicey calamari in red sauce, yum!!! With a glass of red wine, perfect way to end your day.
Great food and service. The only thing we didn’t like from all the times we’ve came by is their clam chowder. But everything else is great.
Lovely seafood restaurant in the area! We had a few starters to share and they are all really nice especially the bruschetta! I had the linguini with clams and it tasted realllly good, love it! It got tht salty taste from the clams and I picked the white wine lemon butter sauce which i think goes better with the clams! They also have a wide range of choices on menu tht can feed everyone!
Such a good spot right by the warf. We went on a Saturday so it's really busy down there but we found a table relatively easily and order our drinks and food at the same time. In less then 10 minutes our bruschetta and a Margherita pizza were there for our appetizer. The bruschetta was very tasty and the pizza had a really good thinish crust that was nice and garlicy with really fresh tomato on top.Once we finished our main course was served. I had the Mahi Mahi with wild rice and the filet was a very generous size and the brown butter sauce went perfectly with both. Really good environment and fast service considering it was a peak time. If your looking for good Italian seafood then this is the spot.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner here after a well walked day in SF. Had the clam chowder and salmon BLT, delish!!! The staff was very friendly, food amazing and to make the experience even more fun a bunch of people had their custom cars around the corner, showing them off. It was awesome to watch!
I enjoyed a really flavoursome and filling lasagna here. The food was excellent. However, it was also a really good experience. The staff were very friendly and personable and good humoured. This was possibly the best meal I had in my San Francisco trip and a wonderful way to end before I headed to the airport to go home.
On a lovely afternoon on Tuesday in September we ate an amazing meal outside. I got the Fishermen’s Platter which contained shrimp, calamari, and Pacific snapper fillet with cold slaw and French fries. It was all good but the French fries were amazing! They were so good my wife ate half of them. She had the crab cakes which were more crab than filler and most enjoyable. Great place to relax and watch the crowds.
My husband and I came here for NYE. Our bartender Rodrigo was amazing!! He came right over and made sure all our needs were met. And I will say as a Bay Area born native…they had the best clam chowder I’ve ever had!!! Hands down no comparison! The Carbonara I had for dinner had me rolling out of the restaurant in a food coma! Thank you for an amazing dining experience!!!
Excellent Service and Great Experience! I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I especially want to mention Gerrardo, our waiter — he was outstanding! He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. His excellent service made our visit even better. Highly recommend this place and big thanks to Gerrardo for making it special!
Here visiting from GA and waiting some place close to our hotel. Did not disappoint. I had seafood fettuccine which was delicious and I had enough leftovers for breakfast LOL. My Husband had a salmon dish which he enjoyed also. Margarita were also healthy. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
We stopped for a Thursday dinner. They were not too busy and did have a good stream of customers. The food was good and the service at the bar was very fast. It had a nice atmosphere about what you'd expect for some place that says Italian/seafood. Both were good. We had a good meal and this was a good stop.
We enjoyed their fabulous food while sitting outside enjoying a beautiful evening. The seafood risotto, the cheesy garlic bread, and my friend's chicken penne were all excellent!!
I was impressed by how professional and fast the service was at this restaurant. You’ll have different servers: one for taking orders, one for drinks, one for bringing food, and one for cleaning and payment. The menu offers a variety of options, including a kids' menu with my daughter's favorite pasta with butter. The location is great, and the prices are average for the area.
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. We tried their Cioppino and it was really good. Our server and others from the restaurant helped us handling the huge and tasty crab legs. Everybody from the restaurant interacted with a smile, which, I found, is not a very common thing in SF restaurants. My blackened snapper was amazing. Even the tiramisu was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended.
Beautiful restaurant. Our group of 6 was seated right away. We ordered the cheese pizza and fries for the kids. My husband got the fish and chips. I ordered the salmon. Both fish dishes were delicious. I definitely recommend coming here.
Great service and really solid food. This place very easily could be a bad tourist trap restaurant with cheap food and bad service. The reality is this is a bit of a tourist trap location but the food and service were amazing. The restaurant is very large and has outdoor seating. They have a huge bar and a pretty good selection of meals and appetizers. If you are looking for gourmet high end food, this isn’t it, but if you want a solid lunch or dinner with great quick and friendly service I would recommend this place
We rushed into this restaurant as our 5yo was starving. Usually I would avoid restaurants in busy/touristy areas as those often rhymes with extortionate prices, lousy service and sub par food. But not Cioppino’s! When we got in, I had a feeling that this was going to be bad, but all of us really enjoyed our food! My wife had the clams chowder which she said was delicious, whilst my son really enjoyed his fish & chips! (The fish was tasty). I had a pizza which was also very flavoursome. Staff was friendly and attentive. Overall a good experience.
Very friendly service. We were seated immediately. Had the steak and the special. They were very accommodating for my wife's allergies. The food was ready insanely fast. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. Spacious so it didn't feel crowded.
Cioppino’s is an absolute gem at Fisherman’s Wharf! The food was incredible — the cioppino (naturally!) was rich, flavorful, and packed with the freshest seafood. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere had that perfect San Francisco waterfront charm. Whether you’re a local or visiting the city, this place is a must. We’ll definitely be back!
Just had lunch here and was very pleased. I ordered the grilled salmon and vegetables and they were both amazing. Service was fast and the food was hot. Our waiter did a great job! Will eat here again.
Walk a bit away from fisherman's and pier 39 and find this great Italian restaurant that specializes in their signature dish the cioppino. It can feed 2 for the price of $56. Highly recommended and their drinks are wonderful as well. Service was on point and we got a table on the sidewalk that made it even better.
I ordered the seafood fettuccine and all I can say is WOW. The sauce was so flavorful and the salmon, clams, shrimp, and mussels were so tender and filling. The service was great and my server checked on me often. 10/10 restaurant!
We had a party of 10 to celebrate a big birthday. Everyone loved their food and cocktails. It was Valentine's Day so it was extra busy. We still received excellent service. Seafood was fresh. I ordered the Ciopinno with added crab meat. It was delicious. I asked for an extra bowl to share some with the guest of honor. The server promptly returned with two bowls, extra spoon, napkin and ladle.
This is my 3rd year working with this phenomenal restaurant. I bring about 40 people every year and the service, atmosphere, and value is fantastic. Setting up the reservation was so easy. We even added 8 people a few days before. We were seated on time, drinks were a plenty, and the food came out all at the same time. Amazing. Service: Tim was our lead server yesterday. He was responsive, proactive, and so professional. I'll come back every year. This location is perfect and I highly recommend this venue/amazing team. Todd
The food was great. We had the clam chowder cup, it was good . But not the best in I've had. But still worth it. Also had the crab cakes, and those where excellent! My wife had the Cioppino ,and I had a couple of bites.next time im gonna order that. I had the special, mahie tuna with the risotto, was also great. I just wish they had, better choices for dessert. All and all great food! Oh yeah very attentive staff. I appreciate my nice experience!
The cioppino was super tasty and had a great flavor profile. I ate the whole thing by myself and I didn't get tired of the soup. The garlic bread was very tasty too! Keep in mind it comes out piping hot so you might need to stir it a bit and let it rest, however it will stay hot the whole time. I would recommend eating the crab earlier however. They provide crab crackers and hand wipes so that's very nice. I wasn't as fond of the snapper filet in the stew, but everything else like the mussels, shrimp and calamari rings were really good. The complimentary sourdough was also delicious! This restaurant could use some renovating and the crowd was a bit older, to give you a sense of the atmosphere
Visited San Francisco for the first time staying opposite the restaurant at the Argonaut. Popped in and ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl, fried King prawns and a scampi linguini. Fog craft beer and a lemonade. The chowder was stunning as was the main courses which were quite large portions. Friendly staff. Worth a visit just for the chowder.
I hate eating in a tourist trap kind a place like fisherman’s wharf, my wife and I just completed a vw bus tour and we were hungry. This place is awesome, they did not skimp on any thing from the quality or service. The appetizer to the entrees, I felt the love of quality throughout. The service was prompt and friendly. I would highly recommend.
Bring your appetite! And get the Cioppino! It's exquisite! Perfect for a cool San Francisco evening. The portion is big enough for two to share, but you won't want to. You will want to savor every bite and soothe your soul. Our servers were friendly, attentive, responsive to our needs and efficient. I will try come back whenever I return to San Francisco. Walking past the other diners, the pizza and pasta dishes looked delicious. What a gem of a restaurant! Thank you! Update: Cioppino's was so good we returned the next night! Part Two was just as delicious!
This was the first restaurant we ate at during our first trip to San Francisco. It was so good we actually came back a second time on the last day of the trip. The staff were professional and welcoming, and a big shout out goes to Meo and Diego who were our servers on the first and second visits. The atmosphere was calm and inviting and the food was outstanding. We ordered the signature Cioppino (Seafood Stew) and calamari on our first visit and the fried shrimp, the seafood cocktail, and the shrimp pasta on our second visit. Everything tasted fresh and it was a big reason why we came back. This place comes highly recommended!
Came to SF for vacation. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Expecting a tourist type restaurant…we found well flavored and well portioned meals at appropriate prices. The snapper melted in my mouth. The pasta was cooked to perfection. Nice outdoor seating and spacious indoor seating. I would recommend this restaurant as a place to try.
Cioppino’s offers great food with fresh ingredients. The prawns are particularly fresh, and the salad is light and refreshing. The seafood platter is also good, and the penne pasta is excellent. The staff are friendly and accommodating, even offering for us to come back later if we needed to use the washroom. This thoughtful gesture really added to the positive dining experience. Overall, it’s a great place for seafood lovers and provides a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We visited this restaurant on Thanksgiving day and luckily after a long walk only few places were opened that day , such a relief .Bring vegetarian i did not had much options left so ordered garlic fries , mozzarella bites and pasta. Garlic fries tasted more like fries with some garlic seasoning on top of few fries so couldn’t really recognize the difference . Pasta was more like a steamed version with some cheese on top of it.Apart from ok level food , the service and atmosphere was good.
I got linguini with meatballs. Spot on texture for the pasta. Overall tasty. Only complaint was server didn't listen well and never brought our appetizer. Overall for a tourist place it was pretty decent!
3.8 star. The service is good even though there are more clients coming in the restaurant continuously. The meal souce tastes ok, but the crab meat tastes hollow and empty, not as expected, probably not in season. The clam, mussels, is very small, the calamari is as small as 1/3 of my little finger, so incredible. The grilled bread temperature is not warm enough, difficult to bite. Environment and atmosphere are definitely without doubt. CP ration is medium, may not consider to come back.
This is a nice spot for a family dinner along Fisherman’s Wharf. We got seating near the front door, so we didn’t have a great view. But they have a nice menu with plenty of options for all diners, including vegetarians. The restaurant has ample seating and is very large, so we were happy to find seating on a Sunday night for a party of 10. There is also outdoor seating with heaters. The service was ok. The server didn’t have the best communication skills, so it was sometimes hard to understand. But she was very responsive and pleasant. We also had an item come out incorrectly which resulted in one dish coming back about 10 minutes after the rest of the dishes. The beer list is limited, but it had a few decent options. They appear to have a full bar, plenty of reasonably priced wine, and TVs around the bar showing sports.
Our food came out quickly. We were forgotten about after that. Didn't get any refills on our water and had to ask more than once for the check. Even had to walk inside to ask for it. But our food was delicious and I would go back again. The fish and chips were some of the best I've ever had.
Stop over at SF for a couple of hours before our long flight back home. The restaurant had everything we wanted, from clam chowder to seafood and pasta. We ordered lots of appetiser for sharing and 4 entrées. My friends loved the chowder and the cocktail scrimp. risotto and the seafood platter were not as fascinating, mussels were not fresh and came with a smelly smell.
Visited here last night and sat on the patio. Super nice atmosphere, lively place. Smells delicious from the moment you enter. The food was full of flavor. I have the seafood linguini -they let me change Alfredo noodles to linguini and it was fantastic. We did have to look for our server though on 3 occasions because she seemed MIA: 1) to order drinks 2) to get the bill 3) to pay
This is a great restaurant for good food at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. There is no view of the bay, but there is plenty of indoor seating. We started with Garlic Bread to share. Our table got a combination pizza to share, then also the Scampi Linguini, and soup and salad combos. All the food was quite tasty. And our server, Julio, was awesome.
First time here, my friend brought me. Nice place, taste was good too. We arrived around 5pm, not too busy we got a table right away. But the restaurant was crowded after 6pm. Price was reasonable, service was okay. If you go to the fisherman wharf, good price for some bites, lunch or dinner.
Sept'25- good food. But a bit of misunderstanding maybe? Asked for no tomatoes on top of margherita but they removed the tomato sauce too. Fish and chips were amazing! October '24- Perfect pizzas! Loved their four cheese (parmesan, romano, fontina, mozarella) which was made in tomato sauce base and Margherita!! Perfect crust!! September '23- Amazing margherita pizza and pasta. Pizza is a must try!!! The pizza was unique in its taste. It was a different margherita (compared to other places) but it was juicy even though the sauce in it wasn't a lot. The cheese was perfect. I'd order it again if I'm there again. Liked the pasta because it was very light and made in a simple tomato sauce with nothing fancy done or added in it. The quantity is definitely made for sharing between 2 people.
A friend was in town last weekend for the SF Marathon and we hadn't seen each other in years so we met up to hang out for the day. She'd never ridden a cable car before, so we took one down to Fisherman's Wharf. It's been a while (pre-pandemic) since I'd been here so we wanted to walk around first to get an idea of where we could grab lunch. There are a lot of options around but because we didn't want to do too much walking, we settled on Cioppino's as it was one of the first places we passed by, it was packed (pretty good sign) and the menu looked extensive. We did not have to wait to be seated which was nice- we sat inside (it was a little warm that day) but they do have plenty of outside seating available. Jesus was our server and was very pleasant and always attentive to our needs- he kept our drink glasses full. I usually pick two items to choose from and ask the servers thoughts. I really had my mouth set on tasting some clam chowder (I LOVEEEE clam chowder), but I noticed on the menu that it had pancetta in it and I only eat seafood on occasion- no other meat. It was a bit disappointing to find out that the chowder came made with the pancetta in it and couldn't be served without. Especially since the Wharf is known for its clam chowder- so I had to go with another option. I was torn between the fish tacos and the fish and chips. I went with the latter because well FRIED anything is my jam- and secondly, I assumed the portion sizes of the fish might be bigger than the tacos. They weren't. The plate came with (4) small sizes of fish and a plate full of fries. Don't get me wrong- the fish was nicely fried, crispy on the outside and tender & flaky on the inside. It came with tartar sauce which was house made (it was really tasty- there's a secret ingredient that I couldn't put my finger on but it gave it great flavor). My friend ordered a basked of garlicky cheese bread which she said was really good- she also ordered a Caesar salad and added shrimp. Honestly, for the price I thought the portion size was kind of small.. I think I counted (6) little shrimp. She said that the salad was really good and of course everything was very fresh. Overall, I don't know that I would come back- I mean let's be honest....food prices are what they are now. My expectation would have been larger portions for the price BUT I would still recommend it because the service was good, no wait and the food was quite tasty.
Not that much people when we dined. Food is good but service we had was even better! Quick and has initiative. Has a island. Bar dining. Ample spacing between tables. High chairs available. Clean bathroom. Accepts credit/debit. For parking, you need to find one near the area. My verdict: recommended to try if you like/love italian. See images for information
Early dinner on a Sunday around 5pm. Ate in the dining room. Ordered the 1/2 carafe of sangria ($29) and it was pretty good. It's not overly sweet like some sangrias which was good. It was mildly fruity and light so we found it refreshing. For dinner we ordered the linguini carbonara/gluten free with crabmeat ($47) and the fisherman's wharf salad Louie with avocado ($37). Pasta was good but I felt like it could have had some fresh herbs or something to up the flavor. The upcharge for the crab seemed on the high end for what I received. Salad was delicious and the price felt appropriate for what we got. Service was very good and the food came to the table very quickly so that was a plus. The order was accurate so no issues there. However, there's not much of a view for the most part in the dining room; in the distance there's water and the golden gate bridge off to the far left which is nice but otherwise all you can see in the foreground are dumpsters full of trash and recycling. Therefore, the atmosphere is so-so. However, I would go back again in the future.
My friend and I always joked that this place wasn't going to good and was just a tourist trap. We are locals and decided to try it for kicks. Honestly, every meal here has been fine. It's a bit over priced, but the service is fantastic. There is a ton of seating, nice rustic ambiance, and some of the dishes are actually good. The free bread and butter is a plus. The fisherman's platter is maybe a bit too..breaded--but still tasted good.
The overall vibe of the restaurant was nice and we enjoyed the atmosphere. However, at the end of the meal they added an extra tax/fee that we hadn’t seen at other restaurants (different from the regular sales tax), which felt unnecessary and a bit disappointing. The bread was excellent, but the lasagna was not good — I couldn’t even finish it.
Food was very good. Quite a wait for service outside but staff was very nice. Great place to sit outside, have a meal and people watch. I had the seafood dip which was excellent. Sat outside, sketched and had a snack!
Our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant to us. We went to visit it 4 days later and saw him there with his family! How's that for a genuine recommendation! We had the cioppinos special seafood stew and a grilled shrimp linguine. The stew was very nice and had succulent chunks of seafood. The pasta was a bit more ordinary but still tasty.
Great food and service. We didn't have a wait at all. We had a 20% discount from shopping at a souvenir shop a few doors down from the restaurant. I would eat there again.

drinks were very over price and wine was served in a thick half pint glass. Food was ok. Nothing special. But nothing bad.
The food was okay at best. The majority of the plates for about $20 bucks you get just the plate of pasta and have to pay an extra $8-10 to add protein. Pretty basic Italian food nothing exciting about it. The tomato sauce irritated my stomach as it was pretty acidic but others in my party seemed to enjoy the mushroom chicken with broccoli. The server was nice. Good service. The place was pretty packed and the atmosphere was good. They do bring out sourdough bread but you have to ask for it. Been there done that. Not my favorite.
Spent $50 on a cup of celery chunked chowder & the fisherman’s platter and the only thing seasoned in the platter was the fries. Everything tasted like they ran out of salt. The fried foods were so bland I had to drench it and lemon and tartar sauce the. It was soggy in 60 seconds-didn’t think that one thru. I ended up going to In-N-Out burger on the walk back to the hotel.
Cute restaurant in a great location. The food is good, service was a little slow. Got a pasta dish and cioppino, not great or anything I would come back for but wasn't bad either. The prices are high for what you get. It looks like alot of seafood, but its mostly just a big soup bowl. I paid to have the crab deshelled, but the crab was tiny pieces in the dish, not worth it. The pasta dish and bread were good.
I had dinner at Cioppino’s and left feeling pretty underwhelmed, especially for the price. We ordered the Fisherman’s Platter, which came with about 4–5 shrimp, some fried calamari, and two pieces of fish. Unfortunately, the calamari was not good at all, and the fish was just average at best. The coleslaw was fine but nothing memorable. My main dish was the grilled salmon, which was decent but honestly nothing special. For a place located in Fisherman’s Wharf, I expected fresher flavors and better execution. Overall, the food didn’t live up to the price tag. Between the small portions, mediocre taste, and the cost, I wouldn’t go back again.
Nothing memorable. We tried the Clam Chowder and it was average. The seafood risotto was bland. The service was fine and fast. But it is not a place that I would repeat or recommend. Decoration is super cute and location was convenient for us and our plans for the city. The fried fisherman platter was well done.
I am here for a vacation. This restaurant is nice-looking and safe. It was pretty late, and I just wanted to eat and return to my hotel. I ordered fish and chips, and I think I liked it; I wanted more tartar sauce, but it took a while, and I could only get half a sauce cup from the three employees I asked. I don't think I would go here if I lived here I am sure there are better places if I had a car and it was earlier in the evening.
The food was okay at best. The majority of the plates for about $20 bucks you get just the plate of pasta and have to pay an extra $8-10 to add protein. Pretty basic Italian food nothing exciting a…
seafood platter was good but only had 3 shrimp. Tons of calamari and fries. Not worth the $. chowder is decent. Kids cheese pizza was large but tasted like a frozen grocery store pizza.

We arrived with no reservations and waited for apx. 15 minutes to be seated. The place was packed, hectic, but the service was pretty good. As for the food, well, it was just ok - nothing too brill…
Good food and a nice place. The waitress who served us spent the entire time rushing us to leave when there was still over a half hour left until closing time. She took away the dishes we were still eating and immediately brought the bill to our table without asking. This behavior made us choose not to leave a tip. We had a problem with our credit card, which wasn't working, and she became aggressive and angry (probably because we hadn't left a tip), then aggressively sent us to the owners to pay. Fortunately, the owners were kind and helped us resolve the payment issue.
The location of the restaurant is very nice, giving it the appearance of a tourist trap in one of the most tourist crowded places in San Francisco. The staff provided super friendly and nice service, which we appreciated. However, the food was just okay and nothing too exciting. We had a very uncomfortable situation with one of the dishes, but it was promptly replaced. Unfortunately, the owner was super rude and unwelcoming, which left a negative impression.
The food was subpar. We ordered a shrimp fettuccini Alfredo and fish and chips. The fettuccini Alfredo was somehow smothered in cream sauce but still flavorless. I had to dump black pepper onto it to make it taste like anything. The fish from the fish and chips was also incredibly bland and was only palatable when dunked in tartar sauce. The fries were pretty good however, no issues there. The crust on the complimentary bread was incredibly tough and we had to peel it off to eat the bread. The restaurant was not busy when we went and service was expectedly good. This restaurant does not deserve the kind of reviews it has, and I would recommend going somehow else if you would like to enjoy your food.
The food here is not as good as some of these other reviews say. I had the sea bass and mussels, my wife had the mix bowl that they are very proud of. Not very good at all. My old fashion was absolutely terrible.with all of the resources they have I would expect better.
Meh. Cioppino’s has a great location in the middle of Fisherman’s Wharf, and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. The restaurant looks nice and has a good atmosphere. But the food didn’t really have much flavor. I had the four-cheese pasta and my sister had the seafood pasta. Both plates were huge, but they didn’t taste like much. I couldn’t really taste the cheese in mine, and it just felt a bit bland. Maybe I’ll come back to try the pizzas, they looked really good. But overall, the food needs to be better, which is a shame because the place itself is nice.
Just walked into this restaurant for the first time in our lives. My friend and I were very excited to have a nice dinner after a long day. We were greeted promptly by a nice gentleman that worked th…
I can only describe this place as a complete scam. Being in a tourist area, spacious, and having a good location with many staff members does not justify the overly high prices for such small portions and poor-quality food. We tried their signature dish, Cioppino. It included half a crab, which was very small, three mussels, and five small clams. That’s it. The rest consisted of bread soaked in broth and bread to eat with butter. The broth wasn’t the worst, but I wonder who they expect to enjoy this... They need to live up to the name of their signature dish. Even the same dish available at the hotel for $33 has more seafood than this. It's just bread in broth with a few pieces of seafood. They might still make sales, but the owner should know that customers will definitely complain. Wouldn’t come back forever.
Food wasn’t that good, we got the clam chowder bread bowl, calamari, and mozzarella cakes. The clam chowder was okay nothing to rave about. Calamari just didn’t taste good was very bland, and the mozzarella was poorly seasoned. Reviews are so high because it’s for tourists but if you’re looking for great food just go somewhere else. Everyone working there is very friendly, not their fault the food was meh.
Pizza out of price ($25) and very small and the burger was dry... never again here The server has completely changed when I didn't put tips (the first time I do this but when it's excessively expensive with an average service I don't want to give tips). It's barely if he said goodbye. Do not avoid because it is a tourist catcher
I tried to have dinner here and experienced really bad customer service which caused me never to return to this restaurant. The restaurant was fairly empty when I tried to go for dinner and the host sat me at the back of the restaurant by the kitchen. When I kindly asked the host if I could sit at the table at the front of the restaurant, by the windows, which no one was sitting at, he said no (and no one was waiting for this table and there was no line of people coming into the restaurant). I defintiely would not recommend this restaurant ( especially for anyone traveling who would like to enjoy their experience in San Francisco or have a nice meal at the wharf), you should go to Boudin or other restaurants on the wharf which I have tried and have way better customer service.
Genuinely bad food. The pasta was similar to that of cafeteria food and the seafood in the Cioppino was clearly frozen before hand. This restaurant seems to be trying to cut costs by lowering the quality of food. After leaving we read some reviews about this restaurant we saw some horrible yet similar experiences as ours. We noticed a foul smell coming from our penne bolognese and brushed it off thinking maybe it was the cheese. We now both feel sick and it doesn’t help seeing how others got food poisoning from this exact restaurant. To top it off our drinks took incredibly long to come out and the waiter got both our drinks wrong. They arrived the same time as our entrees which sucked in all honestly as most people would like to enjoy a drink before the main course comes out. Incredibly over priced shitty food. This place is a tourist trap stay away!! What made it even worst is I chose to bring my girlfriend here for Valentine’s Day and it ruined our night. Trust me do not choose to eat here or you may contract food poisoning. Here in San Francisco we have so many great seafood spots with locally caught fish and shellfish. Go try Soto mare in north beach if you want some real deal Ciopino fresh as hell and delicious
Terrible experience. I’m not one to usually make such bad reviews but the food, the service… everything was below a 1 star. The pasta smelled and tasted like cafeteria food and had a very strange almost rotten smell to it. We also ordered cioppino and everything tasted frozen. Nothing tasted fresh or worth the price. Not to mention our drink order got messed up 3 separate times and we were not checked in with at any point. Would absolutely NOT recommend. We could not finish (barely ate) anything except for the bread. Don’t let this tourist trap get you!!!!
The restaurant has a good location and a nice atmosphere especially if you sit outside. That's what you pay for because the food was terrible. The calamari tasted like it was taken out of the freezer, the fettuccine alfredo was dry and the pasta felt hard. No wonder it arrived in less than 10 minutes, and to top it off it had no flavor at all. The waitress service was awful, they serve so many people that they forget about good customer service and it feels like you're on a production line. The prices are extremely expensive for the quality of the food you get, definitely I can't recommend it.
Please allow me to highlight the positives before diving into the negative. My server was named Diego and from a service standpoint, he is rated as a five star server, he was very friendly, quick, attentive and consistent, never once did we have to ask for a refill on our beverages because he was always paying attention to our table. Add to that, his wine recommendation was on point. The environment was casual, laid back and really cozy. Now let's dive into my one star rating. I ordered the bruschetta appetizers, within two minutes of us ordering the appetizers, they were on our table along with our wine and this was some of the best bruschetta that I have ever tasted, so far so good. My wife ordered the crab cake entrée and according to her, the crab cakes were on point and really tasty, she rated her meal 4.5 stars. I ordered the Salmon dinner with mash potatoes and vegetables. I tasted the veggies and they were good but then my wife asked me if that was a human hair in my food?!!!! I didn't notice it but she did, it was a flipping hair in my food🤮🤮 I could have been a jerk and sent it back without reordering my meal but because I was hungry, I politely sent it back and requested another meal. The second meal came out, Diego was apologetic and appeared to be even more upset than I was but I kept my cool and the dish came back out again. Despite the first horrific mistake, I have to honestly say that the second meal was really good, other than the zucchini being mixed in with my mashed potatoes 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ The salmon was really good, flaky, buttery and very tasty. I asked for my check thinking that at the very least my bill would be discounted for the simple fact that a human hair was in my dish but no discount was offered henceforth the one star review. I get it...Ish' happens but at least have the common courtesy from a dining perspective, to at the very least, discount the meal whenever such a horrendous and unsanitary mistake occurs with the food that you're serving. Do what this review as you will but as for me, I doubt very seriously that I will ever eat here again!
